Decided to dust the bike off and complete some more of this series. It was a warm day with a nice breeze every now and then. Enjoyed my ride with only one DNF for the day. One more trip, and I should have then series knocked over. Spotted 2 snakes today, small brown at the start and a huge red belly on the way back there out and about with the change in temp. TFTC!

Exploring rural Victoria as part of the SPINZ team: Sidewaze, paddle chick, Isis58 and Nanzie from New Zealand. I’m really enjoying the landscape and seeing what goes on in this neck of the woods. All the different eucalypts, the pepper trees and other interesting plants. The colourful birds, some quite noisy and some very noisy. The many vistas - - beautiful in sunlight and shade. I loved visiting each and every cache and really appreciate the effort required to hide and maintain them. Thanks to the cache owners. Greetings from Aotearoa / New Zealand, happy caching and if you have yet to visit us across the ditch to see what we have to offer, do make sure you enter such a visit on your “to do” list.

Attending the Wangaratta Mega weekend with the ladies of FurfacesLL, we collected heaps of caches and saw many scenic views along the way. Today we were back on the bike trail, we had a mix of heat, rain, humidity, mozzies and flies.

Picking up where we left off on Friday and it was time to continue our travels. It was a great day out on the trail with lots of laughter along the way. Some finds were nice and quick and some took a little longer, but in the end, we found most.

Thanks to the CO for the cache placement for us to all enjoy. Thanks to the FFLL ladies for a fun filled trip away Big Grin

Day 4 of the Wangaratta Mega with Rapidlywild.

Today we decided to head early to try and beat the heat and call into Beechworth first to do one of the labs there and then it was back onto the trail with the bikes.

Back on the trail and thankfully when we started it was still cool, but it looked like it would be a very warm one.

All caches were found along the journey unless otherwise mentioned.
Great trail and glad we took the time out to make the journey.

Thanks for the hide and maintaining BettyBoo3747

Had started on the"Mystery in the Museum" series while I was on the NSW North Coast and I was keen to try and finish today with a souvenir. I needed two jewels to start with and then he 35 caches to finish the series. I thought the rail trail around Wangaratta (and then in town) would get me the numbers I needed. And so it proved to be the case but I had to stop at Chiltern on the way home - I got away later than I hoped (had family tasks to do before heading off) and had more DNFs than I would have liked (some I logged - a few I was a bit rushed so was probably my cache blindness so didn't bother with these). I also ended up with 6 Multis (just) and that is half of another BB3747 challenge done (might try at Corowa for the other day). It was a beautiful day in the North East - the predicted strong winds did not eventuate - and the geohound and I enjoyed our wandering in this pleasant (and now green) part of the world.

After collecting the required Sapphire at the railway station, the plan was to proceed along the rail trail to get the final Emerald and then work back (and drive a bit more) to get the next 35. However, a serious case of cache blindness overcame me and I could not find the one I had planned. So checked the iPad and the next closest was this one about 1km further down the trail. Whatever the decision there would be some backtracking (or more caches required) so I decided to proceed down to this one and get the jewel required. The geohound was of course pleased with this and got to chase a few hares. At GZ cache was quickly found and then I started back and picking up the ones I had passed on the way down. Probably added 1.5km and 30 minutes to the search but all good in the end.

Today I bicycled the M2M from Wangaratta to Everton. A great ride that I thoroughly enjoyed. Had a pretty good strike rate overall, but there was the odd inevitable DNF along the way as well. 12-Jun-18
Today is the 9th of June long weekend of 2018 and I managed to ride a bike for the first time in 15 years to find a heap of the Rail Trail caches with Joolay, Kitty Katch, Strangetrousers and several others. We signed the logbook as a group under the name Capital Crunches to save space on the logs. We had several DNFs along the way but most of the caches were easy and quick finds. Spotted two rabbits, millions of birds and heaps of farm animals. It was amazing, Thanks for all the caches and sorry for the generic log for this cache but with so many caches in one day it would be too hard to write a different one for each cache. I have included my Geocaching poem within my log for you and anyone else to read. I hope you all enjoy the poem and geocaching as much as I do.

I found this cache on one of the three days caching in this area. Strangetrousers and I collected about 120 caches including a multis, puzzles, an Earthcaches and Traditionals before heading back to Canberra and real life (Sadly).

Geocache Poem
By DARKSIDEDAN

My endless search goes on and on
Looking for treasures of every kind
Always chasing just one more find
Putting past DNF’s out of my mind

I step out into the world outside,
Seeking what is hidden from me
What size, shape or form will it be?
Only time will tell, I can’t wait to see

Will I find my prize at the end?
I will search in the failing light and cold
Filling with despair having looked everywhere
Where is this thing that gives my life pleasure?

Looking all around from every angle
I read the logs and check the hint
I curse out loud as I walk in circles
Screaming the bloody thing it not there

As time flies by and I fail to see,
Never once stopping to realize
It always been there before my eyes
No need for sorrow, there’s the Geocache.

***** I am currently writing detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC. "The Author" Badge challenges geocachers to average one hundred words or more in each log. As of today the 9th June 2018 my average was 70 words per log, which seems close to the 100 target. However given that I have found so many GC caches, I have to write many logs with well over 100 words for a long period of time to get my average to the target. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain this challenge. After almost 3000 plus caches (which includes all cache finds up and including yesterday), the average log length is just over 70 words. I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my task before this year ends. Progress has been better than anticipated.*****

Fantastic day riding from Everton to Wangaratta on the 2nd day of riding the trail. Beautiful sunny day and such a lovely area to ride through and great trail. Did not find all as some were tricky. #4138 19th for today

Day 2 of our MMRT trail ride weekend at Beechworth/Wanagaratta.Today I was joined by Kittykatch, Joolay, CBRChic, Geosnag1 and DarkSideDan. So we resumed where we left off yesterday at Everton and managed a much better rythym today, broken only by the occasional difficult find or DNF. I think we rode about 35 Km in total, but it wasn't too bad being mostly long flat stretches. We spotted lots of cows, sheep, some horses and a few goats along the way. Not a few cyclists also passed us also. We even came across a family of first time geocachers and gave them a few hints.

Logs variously signed as "Capital Crunchers", "CBR Crunchers" and "Canberra Crunchers". And thanks to Grimraider for the transport today.

Thanks to the COs: BettyBoo3747

Arrived at gz only to find a muggle parked opposite where the cache was. This was the only muggle we had seen so far. As the muggle appeared pre occupied I decided to find the cache. Just as I spied a likely spot the muggle drove off which made it easier to grab the cache.

Riding again today - the 5km section from Tarrawingee Station to Everton Station and back again checking all my caches and doing maintenance as needed along the way.

Lid was half off and stuff just shoved in. Book back in its bag and lid closed and cache back in its hiding place.

Headed down to Victoria with steeba and Hoojar to be part of the 3rd Victorian Mega celebrations in Alexandra. Our 3-day leave pass ensured we’d be constantly on the go! From 300 finds in the Mt Disappointment area to 10 different cache types there was never a dull moment.

This was day 3 of our road trip and it was time to head for home but not before we bagged a few more caches around Wangarratta and then some highway finds.

Thanks to all the cache owners who contributed to a great 3 days caching with my fellow caching buddies. My apologies about the template style log, it certainly doesn’t detract from the thrill of the ‘find”.

TFTC Smile

Found as part of a few days away with my great caching mates The Rats and Hoojar. Our main aim was the Mega event in Alexandra but we managed to find most of the Mt Disappointment series, did 9 or 10 cache types in a day (side trip to Mt Buller and then Melbourne CBD). Some great laughs, camping under the stars, a nicely organised Mega and some great wildlife (koala Surprised and echidnas Big Grin). TFTC!

19-Nov-17
The idea of going down to Victoria and to the Alexandra Mega was original floated by Steeba. Normally Megas are not something that I am super keen to attend, but the opportunity of also collect some serious numbers on the Mount Disappointment caching trail, and finding some Lab Caches really helped to sweetened the deal. I was in, along with my long time caching buddies Steeba and The Rats.

We left Wollongong at 8pm on Thursday evening, returning at 5pm on Sunday, 2,500km and over 400 cache finds later. With less than a handful of DNFs, a wonderful result!

Highlights of the trip included:
- Finding over 330 caches on Friday, the entire Mount Disappointment trail;
- Finding ten unique cache types on Saturday, which included a drive to both Mount Buller for a Web Cam, and then back for a late night Melbourne CBD visit for a Virtual;
- Meeting up with a few local Wollongong cachers in Alexandra;
- Setting two new personal records, for my most cache finds and cache types in a day;
- The always good company and banter of Steeba and The Rats;
- Seeing six echidnas, and a koala (my first sighting of a koala on the ground in the wild); and
- The absolute highlight of the trip was watching Sir The Rats be inducted into the Australia Geocaching Hall of Fame (or maybe the jokes that Steeba and I had over the weekend over the honour!).

Thanks to all of the cachers that hid caches for us to find over our short trip away. I have little doubt in thinking that we will be back to these parts again at some stage to find more caches!

Cheers

With KB in town for a few days it was decided that we'd hit the rail trail on the weekend. It was a warm and windy day, we started at 10am in Bowser and made our way along the trail. Most were quite easy finds but a few were challenging. We contended with loads of grass seeds in the sometimes shoulder height grass, we also found a couple of snakes guarding caches along the way (a brown and a red belly black).

Thanks for a fun day out which finished at 7pm!

And of course, TFTC

The geofamily are off on another trip to Mexico. Fun, sore backsides (for some) and Dad getting the geomobile stuck and breaking his bike, TWICE were the highlights of the trip. One of the running jokes for the trip was 'If it's 2.5T it's laying on the ground, if it's 2.5D it's under that pile of rocks or in the open, if it's listed as large we are looking for an eclipse tin' which came about due to a number of early finds. The lasting memory from this trip will be the grass seeds!!!

Found while riding the Beechworth to Wangaratta Rail Trail.

Thanks for the cache BettyBoo.

Geofamily trip to Victoria... Cool! Cool
Mrs Moneydork, Moneydork, sushilord and I left Friday morning for a 4 day jaunt over the border to find a cache or two Cool
Two nights in Wangaratta and then a night in Bendigo left me with 10 DNFs Sad and 205 cache finds Smile one of which was a FTF SurprisedSmile
Day 2 around Wangaratta and our expected long day of riding was cut short by a malfunctioning pushbike Sad That meant only 100 Smile finds today with 4 DNFs Sad

I saw part of this rail trail when in Victoria doing the Lake Eildon Geo Tour and thought how cool it would be to ride it Cool
So I was stoked to be here and actually riding on it and finding caches Big Grin[^]
Sadly the ride was concluded earlier than anticipated due to mechanical failure Sad so we ended up walking and driving to some of the caches we had thought to ride to Surprised
Still the area is great with some great views, some interesting sights and of course caches and smileys Smile

On the way home we visited Bendigo, St Arnaud and many towns in between.

What a great day to be out on the trail for some caching. I took advantage of the long week and to go out and find some of the further close to home caches, camping in the Warby Ranges for a couple of nights and picking up a couple more before spending the day doing the E2W trail.
In all I spent a bit over 6 hours finding all the caches and the ride back to van and couldn't have asked for a better day to do it.
Only a singular DNF, but a couple I didn't stop to search for so will have to make another visit to finish those off. I have enjoyed the varied hides as well as the few different cache types along the way to mix it up a bit.

Picked up TB from here to move on.

TFTC, Cheers.

[font=Comic Sans MS]Hi there BettyBoo3747. We found your cache "E2W - What the Dickens!" at 7:59:00 AM today. This cache makes our find count 12310.

Today we decided that an early run towards Wang from Tarrawingee station was in order. We did alternate caches on the way out, and picked up the remainder on our return trip. We both enjoyed our ride in the cache run today & ended up logging 14 and DNF'ing 2 today.

Coordinate Accuracy: We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking. Wink
Cache Condition: The container and log book are in good shape.
Took: Nothing.
Left: Nothing in the small ones, and a smiley badge wherever we could fit one.
Thanks for the hunt,
Regards
Ian & Penny.[font=Verdana]

Almost back to the car, but still one to find. Once again Geomark, first on the scene, quickly spotted the little something that's out of place and we signed the log at 1.15pm. (It's like being waited on hand and foot! Sure beats the frustration of not finding it!)Left pathtag. Thanks for the run of caches Betty Boo
