Day 43 of our Enzed adventures with Robmc and today the fellas rode the second part of the Timber Trail while Lady Morris rested at the Lodge until pick up time.Interesting spot and the cache was a quick find thanks to the hint although it is very damp. Thanks for contributing to an amazing holiday.
Day forty three of our epic New Zealand Adventure with The Morris. Our second day on the Timber Trail. Started about 8:30am and rode to about 1pm to drop off our bikes. We then drove to Te Kuiti. We only did a few of caches on the trail, and a couple when we arrived. We were counting down the kilometers to this post. The GPS had it closer than the distance. Thanks, Robmc.
Finally get to do this amazing cycle trail. Camped up at Piro Piro campsite and got a shuttle. Fabulous day for it. Started chilly and now beautiful sunshine. Awesome country side. Many thanks for sharing a cache here.
A quick stop to look for this cache as I continue on the timber trail section of the Te Araroa. The GPS had me back and forth until I saw some suspicious came that gets a cachers attention immediately. The log has all but disintegrated from the wet but the replacement left by the previous finder should last for years too come, good stuff that waterproof paper. My thanks go to 2 bulbars for hiding this cache, its good that you've added a few more caches along this trail, great forest experience. Cheers.-- This log is trackable ! ---- Feel free to discover ---- Please mention, in which cache you've seen this code: ---- 3TABQX --
Took a little to find this today but got there in the end! Have covered again but maybe not so thoroughly (still hidden) Log was saturated and I’ve added a piece of waterproof paper. Thanks so much for placing these- such a fab adventure
Stopped at the marker and soon spotted this .
Thanks for the reason to get off the bike!
Thanks for the reason to get off the bike!
You thought the trail needed more caches and we certainly agree! Half my group forgot to stop but it was a quick grab for me. Cache was fairly wet but the waterproof paper makes it fine to write on. Probably doesn’t help that it was raining... TFTC
Thanks 2 Bulbars for placing this cache
It was a park-n-grab on the mountainbike today.
Awesome weather after a cold wet ride yesterday

Say two of the timber trail yesterday i walked 40kms to my first camp and to day going to be a 45 km day. Enjoying every step along the way .
This was a very enjoyable section and a engineering marble .
So glad the Te Araroa is part of the timber trail and the weather for the two day was perfect so amazing views .
Loved the bridges and history.
So much work to make the rail line and make the trail we have today.
Smashing out the km today and having a ball
Living life one foot step at a time as i walk from cape reinga to bluff and caching my way home as I walk the

Did not even have to use the GPS for this find. Thanks for the placement along this great track.
Watch out for Bush lawyer! Soon found and had lunch stop here on our 2nd day riding the Timber Trail. Took the opportunity to dry containers and most of the log allowing my log to be clearly recorded.

Find number 6351. A German friend is walking the Te Araroa tail and I joined her for 2 days along the timber trail. This was about the halfway point for the day so finding the cache was a good excuse for a stop. As we rested I managed to make the find. Thank you for giving a reason for a rest.
Didn't have reception either downloaded the caches, but just with the hint and a mark on the map, I managed to get them all but the last one...
Easy finds in greats spots !
Easy finds in greats spots !
Mum and Dad were doing the Timber Trail ride, and Mum identified this location as a good place to stop. Mum started looking for the cache, and Dad had already spotted it! Despite being in a double-container, the log was VERY wet. Mum added the team details, but not sure it is visible
A friend and I headed South to ride the Timber Trail over Queen's Birthday weekend. We were very lucky with the weather, considering that the days before and after our ride were terrible! The weather was nice and fine, although quite chilly and frosty in the mornings. All in all it was a fun ride and a good challenge for us relatively inexperienced mountain bikers! Another quick find here, TFTC!
2nd day of the trail and 2nd find. Helped by my muggle biking friend who was sitting right next to it while I was rattling of the clues! An amazing couple of days. TFTC
Found while walking the Te Araroa Trail. GPS jumped about a bit so checked several spots fitting the hint before success.TFTC
This is what turns out to be an epic adventure for me.
A work mate of mine had made noises about attacking the mighty Timber Trail and I was super keen to come along too. At the time he mentioned it some weeks ago, I was unfit and didn't own a decent bike, but I was still keen.
As luck will have it, I found a really good bike for sale and I bought it immediately.
Now for my fitness. I had to start riding it now, to familiarise myself with a full suspension bike. A handful of rides later and here we are, at the start of what will be the longest and most spectacular rides of my lifetime.
With accommodation and shuttle booked only a few days earlier (apparently we were very lucky getting some at late notice), we left Tauranga at 4 am to allow for any unforeseen mishaps along the way. Turns out we had none, so we arrived an hour early for our shuttle ride to the far end or the start of the trail.
After what seemed a huge gap between caches, we finally got to the 53km marker, yet my GPS was telling me it was 22m off trail. What is wrong with this thing? A quick check on the page details and with an excellent description, it was found quickly. Its good to see that it was recently maintained. Looks like my GPS might have gone haywire about here, because it crashed on me a bit further on and I lost about a km of breadcrumb trail for my GPS stats.
Thanks for bringing me here.

P.S. The trail was spectacular.

Found this one on my second day cycling the timber trail! Great experience! Thank you for making it even more great by placing the cache here!
Day 2 of the Timber Trail with Lilywyte. The final large hill climb has been completed and now time to collect some caches along the way. TFTC
Riding the timber trail again and what a good day to ride, this time with the CO and picking up a cache or two as we head for Ongarue, replaced the logs with waterproof paper so should be good to go for awhile, replaced as the hint intended.
Thanks for the adventure and the company on truly enjoyable ride.
Thanks for the placement and the smiley.

This cache is a bit of a tease. Only 3km to GZ while you at the 43km mark and the distance doesnt seem to drop till you get much closer.
A nice excuse for a stop on the 2nd day of our ride. The 2nd half of the track was very muddy and a lot of it was like treacle to bike through.
Found on the second day of cycling the Timber Trail. Not the most interesting location, but nice quick find.
Doing the Timber Trail cycling trip with a group from Tauranga. So glad we took the time to check this out on the way past. Easy find. Cache in good condition. TFTC
A rather wet 2 day ride on the trail with an overnight stop at Blackfern Lodge. Was great to see a Blue Duck family metres from the accommodation.
Our second day on the timber trail started a bit rainy, but we came prepared. All in all, a wonderful experience!

Sorry but I didn't grab the co-ordinates but the hint had us bang on. We had a bad case of cramps in the group so the cachers had no pressure on us. Great ride and a few more caches have appeared since I rode it last.
The hint helps everyone find this one but would some one please send me there cords for this one please
The hint was enough to find cache Agree with log of FTF there seems to be an error with listed coordinates I recorded S 38 39.831', E 175 27.159' Will discuss direct with CO and leave him to make correction if he agrees
Cache in good order Thanks to CO for placing caches along the Timber Trail

One of the many caches we found on our campervan journey from Lower Hutt to Tauranga. A mighty and enjoyable journey through many great and iconic parts of the north island. Many thanks to the many CO's for the great cache placements and for bringing us to new places. Found as we cycled along the timber trail. TFTC. Sorry for the generic log.
TFTC. First find on our Timber Trail ride. My GPS was signalling the other side of the trail but the hint made it easy to locate
Stopped for a break only problem is GPS isn't the best in the forest . Remember 53 km mark.
Doing the southern section of the Timber Trail today with my son, starting at the Piropiro campsite. Enjoying this part of the trail after that big uphill. Didn't need to get the GPS out for this as hint was good. TFTC
I happened to be here today acting as a leader for a school group riding the 'Timber Trail'. I've done this ride before a year ago but I don't remember the climb after the swing bridge being so long! With the 3km uphill grind behind us we stopped here for a short break to refuel-and find the this cache. Container was smaller than I was expecting but thanks to the great hint I uncovered it quickly. I had issues with my pen so I took a picture of the log as proof of the find.
Enjoying our ride but ready for a breather. Thanks for a good reason to stop and refuel. Replaced log sheet with a waterproof log sheet as initial logsheet looked very fragile for this damp wet location. Really enjoyed our ride and the forest trees and history of the area.
My 2nd FTF, yippee! Now I found the co-ords way off, but the cache is located close to the marker mentioned. My GPSr had the cache at: S38 39.830 E175 27.162 (looks like the S38 38 should S38. 39)
