Cache was true to its name but its in dire need of maintenance & new logbook. TFTC
The name made sense when we found the cache which has definitely seen better days. Log book was very wet and mushy

Had got close to attempting this one once before but the road maintenance guys seemed to be having a party near the cache site so had left it. Today there was no one around. Had a giggle once at GZ - the micro boost had been located. TFTC

This was our final cache for the day in this area as we head into Hamilton for the long weekend. Nice to get a cluster of smiley faces. Fun and quick find. TFTC
I was looking after youngest grandson, Master C, so I decided to get him outside and took him geocaching. I showed him how to use the GPS so he was in charge. We had 4 to find and succeeded. Another one we searched everywhere looking for something tied to a tree. Master C gave an object a kick and heaps of ants started pouring out. He had a look inside and yep this was the cache. There were heaps of ants. This cache was NOT tied to base of tree. TFTC
Heading north to visit family in Auckland, but with lots of time for caching. Stopped to grab this one on our way into Hamilton. Mr Rubbishparty had read the hint, but wasn’t quite on the same wavelength as the owner, fortunately Mrs Rubbishparty saved the day! TFTC
We were on the way to Hamilton Airport before I flew back to Wellington today. I needed a cache to deal to a dot day, one of just five remaining dot days. This one was on our route. Took a brief moment to spot what looked like it might contain the cache. It did. That was good because I wasn’t inclined for anything less than a quick find at the time! And yes, there were plenty of ants crawling all over! #3814. TFTC.
We decided to make a bit of a diversion on our way to Hamilton to pick up some of the 'cluster caches' I'd finally gotten around to solving, plus a few of the trads in the area too.
We took way to long looking for this before before we had that 'doh' moment.
Then we spent a bit longer beating off the ants that had swarmed us while signing the log.
Thanks for putting this here for us to find

With this many favorities I had to this one while I was out on my bike in the area
A FP from us as well

Found at last. GPS never settled at previous attempts. Nice quick find today. TFTC
Nice disguise! Plenty of ants to upset. I think I’ve ended up transporting a few home with me!
#11,554. Well, a fairly long park and grab in Tamahere. Fortunately, GZ was all quiet at the time of the visit. Found after a bit of searching around. Then something clicked … and we got our micro boost for the day. The cache was in good condition, all nice and dry dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.
Thanks for the placement, and for bringing us to this site, and …

If this is supposed to be easy I'd hate to see a hard one. Failed for the second time. Checked every base of tree near GZ but nothing tied. Got prickled on the one it should have been on but nothing. Does the hint mean base or trunk?
Junior and i decided to have a hunt for this one while the rest of the family were entertained at the nearby skatepark. We were a bit worried when we arrived a gz and discovered that some trees had come down in the cache area, and there was bit of trash laying round. But junior and I carried out a quick inspection of the area focusing on the ones that were still standing, and soon discovered something that matched the hint. Gosh....I love a good micro! Well done, and thanks for the fun.
Thank you Kiwi69

No luck for me. With all the work nearby it probably won't be long before this spot gets a good clean up.
First problem, dunno where it park to get to this cache. Second concern, is this the cache? Third horror, ants came pouring... I mean POURING out of the cache literally. Spend 3 minutes examining the ants instead..
TFTC and hello from Singapore!

#547. Hmm.. not sure what to log for this one.
Glad I could provide some entertainment, I guess. And yes, I did feel a bit silly. I was looking at my recent DNFs and spotted new finds on this one. Doh. Was going past the area today, stopped in and made a very quick find. There has been more work done since I was there a few weeks back. I suspect the area will be changed soon due to the expressway work. CO might want to think about moving it.
Very clever idea, if a little untidy.

A raid on the Waikato was long overdue so McJandals and I teamed up as we've both got similar caches on our Hamilton hit lists. This cache was found quickly and in good condition thanks to accurate coords and a straight forward placement. It's worth mentioning though due to all the works in the area this one may not have a lot of life left. Northwood's log also made chuckle. Cheers kiwis69, TFTC
#6580. I am up in Hamilton for several days mixing some work with geocaching in my time off. Haven't spent much time geocaching in Hamilton so there are lots of boxes showing on the GPS map. Like its used to be in Wellington when I first started out. Looking forward to putting a dent into them. Came here after picking up the rental car at the airport. Close to highway but the side road gave some protection from muggles. Been a lot of trimming of vegetation in the area near the pole. Wandered around wondering where a micro might be hidden in this place. Then I saw it. Such an odd thing to find out here in the scrub so needed checking. Then the penny dropped. Had a laugh. Cache soon in hand along with a swarm of ants! Signed the logbook and replaced the cache as found. Thanks kiwis69 for hiding the cache here. For the last person who missed out. Think about the cache name. You came very close.
Set off on a Saturday morning run through some Tamahere / Hautapu caches and struck out on the first one. There are some branches down in the area, and a lot of rubbish (microwave going free there...) but I didn't find a cache.
Dry feet are overrated. Great cache hide. Signed TesmNE as I am caching with NosyNel. TFTC
This week is my with Ethness in the North Island. We are driving from Wellington to Auckland, with a few detours. It is a 5 day trip.
Today is day one after spending the night in Hamilton we went out geocaching to Auckland. We are signing as TEN Team Ethness Nosynel.
We were stopping for larger geocaches, old geocaches, eye puzzle series and enjoying others on the way.
We solved the puzzles at home over time. Then we incorporated our puzzles into the plan. I love geo Art.
The first of the day and a fun to start.
Sadly there is no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. I plan on going to the OzGeomuster in July. To find out more visit this site: https://www.ozgeomuster.com.au
If you can't make Aussie. New Zealand will have another large event in 2020 in Auckland. I will keep you posted in my logs.
Thanks for hiding this geocache.

This one had us looking for longer than we should have... if only we had applied a bit of logic Great cache location and you definitely caused us to have a laugh at ourselves which is worth a favourite point. TFTC
Man I hate micros in the woods but had a chuckle and gets a favorite point from us.
It was a little open when we arrived so left it as found but upset a ants nest which covered it within seconds

The Central North Island, Day 5: National Park - Hamilton - Auckland
It’s Christmas Day, and the end of this incredible journey through the North Island. Today’s weather was quite a mixed bag with some rain, some sun and some wind. This didn’t dampen the mood though, as we drive North through King Country and Waikato to get a sampling of the history of the region. A very productive day throughout, despite the weather, and a great Christmas Day!
The following is the specific log for each cache:
Wow, you really really wanted to up your caching karma, huh? This was a really fun and funny find despite the pokey stuff. Very well done here. You have truly served up a nice cache. TFTC!

Found by me (Popplefish) and Neil, his very first cache!! Visiting from UK, my first NZ cache. Thanks very much
That one was easy to find! We visite the school on the other-side of the road in our search for a school for our son next year when we emigrate to NZ. The cache was a lot bigger then expected. Thanks for hiding. Tb in
Stopped by for a micro boost and couldn't see the cahce anywhere with GPSr pointing to an unlikely spot. Then I clicked and had a smile on my face for some time after. Seems I disturbed a pile of ants though. Thanks heaps kiwis69. Another FP from me.
Just what I needed a bit of a boost after coming from a dnf this made up for it and put a smile on my face TFTC
JB, TT & I are on a day-trip to Hamilton to complete a Challenge qualification. And to retry a few DNFs from over the years. And finally, to grab some great caches to qualify for the Caching Connoisseur souvenir. We started the day turning a couple of DNFs into a smileys. One more DNF for the lads wanting to find the Hamilton TB Hotel & Spa - which I’d previously found.
Then onto the **Caching Connoisseur** souvenir hunt.
This was our first, and an easy find as the trees have been cut back here. TFTC

Out and about enjoying a drive around the Waikato countryside this afternoon. Good weather for it, in general; I only got rained on once. Of course, a trip is only enhanced by picking up some smilies along the way, so that is very much a focus. I parked up, crossed the road and got to searching. The GPSr lead me on a bit of a merry dance under the tree cover but it eventually settled down. As mentioned by another finder, there is some tree fall about, but the cache is safely away from that. It took a bit but I eventually had the lightbulb moment and the hide was soon in hand after that. Cheers for the cache placement!
I have to admit this was my second visit to this cache. I came away empty handed back in March. Walked right past the cache lamenting the idiocy of humanity for dumping such trash on the side of the road. It wasn't until I got home and was logging my finds for the day that I had a light bulb moment and realised the only idiot was me! I'd kept it in the back of my mind for the next time I was travelling south of Hamilton and found myself in the area today. Quick find second time around. Although I felt much more exposed here this time compared to March - more pruning of the trees or just the loss of leaves for autumn perhaps?
Things were great with this cache until I hit the boost and had great difficulty keep the smoke in ha ha ha....I wish every micro was like this ...love your sense of humor kiwi69
This was hilarious. I really laughed when I found this. There is quite a bit of wind damage around but cache is safe! Thanks for the placement kiwis69
Failed miserably. Couldn't find anything tied to the base of any tree at GZ. Got heaps of prickles for my trouble
We decided to boost our Planetry Pursuit points to 1000 today, by collecting 8 well-favourited Waikato trads. After finding some Cambridge trads, we drove to Tamahere for a Micro Boost. Not quite what we were expecting to find here! Thanks for the fun.
Now that is my kind of micro Nice and quiet around here early afternoon on a Saturday. Enjoying a caching day as I haven't done one of these for awhile. TFTC
9.45am. The branck has rotted so the cache is no longer attached to the tree. Easy find.
Thank you. David.
Thank you. David.
Found this yesterday, very clever had a few ants in it. Many Thanks, another dot day sorted. Cheers.
This one took longer than it should have! Initially avoided the area because of litter then looked at my Garmin and thought I'd better head over that way - success, TFTC
Got a macro boost when I saw this one, and a few thorn prickles as well. Initially had seen it and thought - nah. Thought again - aha. Nice one. tftc
Quick park and grab on the way back to Auckland. Not quite the size that I was expecting. TFTC
On an all night (and following day) caching bender with harisree and Gorby to clear out the Eyes puzzles currently released, along with the Kiwi art series and any other caches that we drift along past. Who knows where we will get to or when we will get home. but that's the fun of it, right... TFTC!!!
FITW FMZ and Gorby
We started our caching adventure with the midnight pirate event in Auckland. Headed straight to Waikato. Cleared all published "The Eyes Have It!!" series, The Kiwi Art Trail, also picked up few trads here and there. We also managed to squeeze in two more pirate events. One in Hamilton at 6.30 AM and another one in Tauranga at 3.30 PM. We managed to reach back Auckland by 10 PM. I must say that it was a long day for us but fun too. Thank you for the placements. Sorry for the repetitive log.

Out and about caching this morning with FMZ and harisree. We came down from Auckland leaving after FMZ’s midnight Pirate event, It’s all about numbers today for each of us, this is our 28th cache for today and it's only about 8am, we are huddled up nice and warm in Harsha’s car and thankfully all the caches today are park n’ grabs because it is cold outside, but at least it’s starting to be sunny.
I was in the backseat giving instructions to our driver FMZ, I told him to go this way to the cache, but he didn't listen, he reckoned we couldn't get to the cache this way, so he right around the block and soon realised we could have got here the way I mentioned! But... it's hard to get good help these days! so I jumped out of the car and harisree joined me and she soon found the cache. Cool!
