*Found on the 2 Nov 2024 @ 11:56am.**Cache find # 15935.* I headed to Wangaratta for an event later in the day but before that, there was time to find a few caches.I had started another cache which I was making my way through but while doing that one, I passed by this one so I stopped for a look.I headed over to GZ and had a look around, eventually I had my name in the log.**Thanks to BettyBoo3747 for keeping the game going by placing this cache.**
We didnt bring the bikes but decided on a short walk to warm up and to find a few caches. Cool tunnel that would feel really weird in a car. Thanks BettyBoo3747 for an enjoyable cache.
#6451.After a quick visit to Wangaratta, I had a bit of spare time to attempt a couple of caches on the way home. This was the last one on this trail, hopefully next time I can bring my MTB to attempt more of the caches. This was a tricky hide, but persistence paid off and manage to locate the container. Very interesting little bridge to cross under. TFTC!
Out on the bike today with our middle geokid. I've been eyeing off this trail for ages now but just haven't had the opportunity. Today was the day, planned to try get half done starting from Bowser station, this will depend on how the little man's legs go. We ended up not quite halfway but made some good progress, only 1 DNF. A fun ride, we are keen to get back and finish off. I ripped my shirt, retrieving this one, damn fence. TFTC!
Hello BettyBoo3747 thank you for the cacheAn afternoon walk to see how many I could find before my legs give out.A quick find.I found this cache during our Newcastle 2024 trip to see the grandchildren.Found on Saturday, 04 May 2024 at 1414**TFTC**
We were perplexed by the 'no overtaking' sign at the start of the tunnel... well duh! Haha! Lots of possibilities for a hide here but it was quickly found and replaced. Thanks BettyBoo3747 for hiding and maintaining this series.
Robmc and I parked at Bowser station and enjoyed a sunny spring day to do some maintenance. A short ride checking 11 caches and fixing up as required. This one appears to have disappeared around Easter Time (Mega Time) so a new container and log are now in place in the same hiding place.
Stamped as JAMS - JJ52, alllister w, mogni, sir_spectre. All of these teams are from South Australia and after some major planning we managed to find approx 700 caches while being away for a week. Also qualifiied for a variety of challenges, found LGA's and had lots of laughs. Found while attending the Victorian Mega in Rutherglen.
Thanks
Thanks
The JAMS team (JJ52 allister w, mogni and sir_spectre) were on a road trip heading to the Rutherglen Mega event (staying in Corowa) for 3 days then winding our way home via Albury, Wangaratta, Bendigo and various other places in between. It was a great week with many more caches found than we expected. There were targeted caches, challenge caches, Ad Labs, events and various others to fulfill various statistics for the four of us. We were lucky with the weather, it rained a bit on our way over on Friday, then half a day after we left Wangaratta but on the whole it was great caching weather. We did drive a few slippery muddy roads, but nothing too bad. We also caught up with lots of people either at events or out in the field and enjoyed many great chats. All in all a fun time with lots of Victoria explored and then very tired when I arrived home. [^]
We are now caching around Wangaratta finding caches to meet the A-Z challenge along with a few others.
It was a lovely day today and great walking on this trail. I had read all about it from tourist information at our accommodation.
Thanks for the cache BettyBoo3747.

The JAMS crew go mega - JJ52, allister w, mogni, sir_spectre. having had a huge weekend in Rutherglen it was time to head for home, it only took 5 days.
Thanks
Thanks
We took a hike down the bike track, 9.5 km's or so. At the start of the trail the butterfly's were so thick i thought i was going to choke on one. I did enjoy the fact that the co used a number of different container from bison tubes, to cliplock containers, to fruit containers plus the style of hiding was different for the trail.
Found with JAMS (( JJ52, Allister w, Mogni, plus sir_spectre ) Mitchell&hound wasn't with us this trip) crew. All logs stamped as JAMS to save log space. This trip we are off to the Rutherglen Mega and then slowly coming back to S.A. for a total of 8 dys and 7 nights. The targets of this trip are for JJ52 to get 11 more multi to get to 1000 multi's and a few more Victorian LGA's, Allister W was targeting 17 virtuals ( or as many as he could get ) a few more Victorian LGA's Mogni to make the Rutherglen Mega her 20, 000 find and also for her to complete all Victoria LGA's, sir_spectre needs 1 more multi to get to 1000 multi's and get his Victoria LGS's down to 2 LGA's left. We got 20 or more finds in a LGA if we stayed in there over night. We also detoured to stamp any challenge caches that we were " in the general area off " and to complete that challenge before we came back to S.A. This meant that some times dirt road (s) had to be walked down because they were to wet to drive down and/or haven't been repaired since last years flooding. We started off the holiday in the rain and then that cleared up only to start raining and a overnight thunder storm but most of the trip was dry. Over 600 caches found for the trip including over 120 lab stages in that total. Got to complete the GPS Maze at the Rutherglen Mega for a 2nd time. Allister w was the team driver for all of the Victorian part of the trip. I think this was the first trip ever to Victoria that the extension pole didn't get used but the 6.2 meter ladder did get a work out.

SueHut's pulled the pin for the afternoon, and we're heading back to camp. That's not to say we can't pick up a little one along the way...
Thanks heaps, BettyBoo!

Exploring rural Victoria as part of the SPINZ team: Sidewaze, paddle chick, Isis58 and Nanzie from New Zealand. I’m really enjoying the landscape and seeing what goes on in this neck of the woods. All the different eucalypts, the pepper trees and other interesting plants. The colourful birds, some quite noisy and some very noisy. The many vistas - - beautiful in sunlight and shade. I loved visiting each and every cache and really appreciate the effort required to hide and maintain them. Thanks to the cache owners. Greetings from Aotearoa / New Zealand, happy caching and if you have yet to visit us across the ditch to see what we have to offer, do make sure you enter such a visit on your “to do” list.
We were all amused with the no passing sign - you've got to be kidding right? As if anything apart from bikes could do that. TFTC #18,972

A trip from Canberra, ACT to Whittlesea, Vic with a few side quests for LGAs. TFTC.
I am not sure why I couldn't find this one during the mega. Easy find today.

Had a nights accommodation booked in Wangaratta as my geohusband had a jet fighter plane flight booked. When the flight was cancelled due to the weather forecast we still made the trip up and hit the rail trail for some caching. The plan was to do as much of the trail as we could. TFTC
Day 8 of our southern trip. Wangaratta to Creswick

Reading back over the logs on this one, I can see it had gone missing about six months ago.
On our weekend in Wangaratta, we were most impressed and happy to see the maintenance runs that the COs have done over the last weeks to make sure that all of their hides were in tiptop condition for the visitors who descended upon Wangaratta for the mega.
Thanks BettyBoo3747 for riding the Trail in advance and making sure all was good so that we would have a fine time over the weekend.
We loved all of your hides, and the effort that has gone into them.

Chooo ooo [found] with dty73 and Youban on our Wangaratta Mega trip! Thanks BettyBoo3747!
Last day of our caching trip before having to head home for work tomorrow.
Tankengine, Youban and I have enjoyed our time in Wangaratta and surrounding areas finding caches, attending all the events, playing with the gadget caches and catching up with friends.
It was a spectacular time and we commend the committee and volunteers for all their hard work setting up and running the Mega Event.
This cache: We drove down to this one and parked across the road from GZ. Took a little searching, but expanded the search area and soon found the cache. Tftc!!!

Out with Wollaston and SeasonedBird today. This is one of the caches we targeted and found thankyou for giving us the opportunity to explore.
In Wangaratta for the Mega, we traveled over early so we could get some local caching in. After stowing the shop in a storage shed so it wasn't bouncing around in the back of the car we set up in the caravan park and can now cache and explore. Today we headed out early to beat the heat but also we were on a timeframe! Ooohh that was freaky driving through that! good job we are not claustrophobic! Quick find on the other side. TFTC

A little hint from my caching acquaintances earlier today helped narrow down the search area for this one. Was still well hidden though. Tunnel gave some welcome relief from the heat while riding through. Thx BettyBoo3747 ftc

Nice day out Robmc and Betty Boo, the latter doing maintenance, myself, taking a few unfound caches off the list. Would be helpful if I got on the pushbike a little more often but apart from the general lack of fitness it was a lovely day out.
Thanks BB

Out on a sunny winter morning riding the Trail for a Pre-Mega maintenance run. A 20km return trip checking 20 caches and providing maintenance as required. Left some Wangaratta Mega Event cards along the way.
Removed wet container and log. Left a different container and new log and pencil in the same GZ. All good here.

Found this log to be very wet. I replaced the plastic bag but I think the log will stay wet inside it
Big caching day ahead....caught the train this morning from Wodonga to Wangaratta with my bike. Rode the rail trial from Wang to Beechworth for 50km on a cold winter's day. Was hoping the sun would come out, but no, it didn't.....temp didn't get higher than 8 degrees. Lucky I was dressed appropiately and prepared for the day. Not many riders about either, which is surprising! Quick find for me today. TFTC and series.
As a number of other logs have noted ‘well hidden in long grass’. Just trust the GPS
Today we loaded up the bikes on the back of the car and traveled a bit further from the caravan park in the pursuit of the elusive yellow smilie! We had identified the rail tray as a great place to start, and with the magnificent weather Wangaratta is putting on for us we were looking forward to the ride. Needless to say we weren't let down. Lovely scenery, interesting spots to stop for a look around, and lots of smilies for us to log. All in all a great ride- 5 km out and back to the car, a bag load of smilies including a multi or two and only one DNF (until we got back to town that is!). Tomorrow we head back home, but would like to say thanks to Wangaratta CO's for the fun they have provided us. Very much appreciated. We will be back, hopefully before the mega for a few days.

The start of our big day riding the trails. It was cool in the morning but became very warm later in the day. The container was found just where the numbers took us, signed in and we moved on.
It did take quite some time to locate as that grass was very high - it was well hidden!
Thanks BettyBoo3747

After pprass's comment thought I had better check this one. All good and there is a magnet attached to the container.
Found at 2:32 PM GAFF1.
We remember trying to drive through this tunnel in May 2014 just after we picked up our brand new Kokoda Challenger X-treme van from the Wangaratta dealership and saw the 2.3 metre maximum head height and went - oh @#$%!.
We then proceed to do a massive turn-around exercise which took about 15 minutes and then walked to the cache [:o)]
Today we didn't have the van on, so we drove through the tunnel and then went straight to the cache which was just lying on the ground - is that how you intended it to be? There wasn't a magnet inside.
Thanks BettyBoo3747.

It bit overgrown is true. Be careful finding this one during summer months. Log was a little damp, so replaced it upside down so as to avoid further moisture getting in there. TFTC
Another nice and easy park and grab, while the road was aligned with the trail.

We will eventually have to sort out our bikes and our biking abilities and get the remainder.

Echo, echo, echo.... not in the tunnel but still a fun if not noisy walk through!
A weekend of caching with BackPAQer and Monch's Mob. This one wasn't where I expected it to be. TFTC.
Out for a walk this morning, trying to knock off a chunk of this series. Copypasta logs incoming, sorry CO.
Day 2 of batching and so my aim today was to beat my previous record for a single day - which stood at 50 on a day around Beechworth and the Murmungee Basin in July 2018. Not a very big target (I am to get my first 100 day later this week) but hoped to get to 51 to make a nice round number (2300). So the plan was to load up the blue grader with CDs (not much sport on today) and head to a place I hadn't cached previously - Benalla. A good number of caches in close proximity and the opportunity to explore an area I hadn't visited before (other than a drive through on the freeway). Got away later than I wanted (though I needed the sleep) and finished in the dark (last was signed in the headlights) but in the end achieved my target (actually got 54) with a few DNFs (though only 1 logged) and some clever caches found and some nice places visited.
This was one I had searched for previously with no luck and so as a quick diversion off the freeway thought I would start here. Was armed with info from a previous finder (which proved to be incorrect!) but the found the cache in under a minute in the second place I looked - certain I looked there last time (maybe previous finders had thinned some of the vegetation). Log was signed and returned and back to the freeway to keep heading south. The Pixies Surfer Rosa was the soundtrack to the initial leg of this cache hunt.

Found with jackez74 on a beautiful day, this took a bit of search didn’t think we were going to find after thewins5 had a DNF, but had a closer look at a area we had previous looked at, and the prize was found. TFTC BB
After driving through the narrow tunnel (and seeing one of the cyclists I had seen earlier on the trail) I could not find this one. May be a case of cache blindness (and I will be back) but there appeared to be relatively new fence (and no evidence of flood debris) so I am wondering if has been caught up in recent construction?

Found today while grabbing a few caches out the back of Wang and decided to start my cache run from here. The cache was soon located after a little searching about, certainly get tunnel vision from the gz, thanks BettyBoo3747 for the hide and for placing the hide here.
Today I bicycled the M2M from Wangaratta to Everton. A great ride that I thoroughly enjoyed. Had a pretty good strike rate overall, but there was the odd inevitable DNF along the way as well. Thanks to everyone for all the cache placements, and also thanks to Nigel for the bicycle hire and shuttle service. Cheers and TFTC
Very cool tunnel. I think I'll have to come out and do some light painting photography soon. TFTC.
We loved this tunnel, thankfully our car fitted through the tunnel with ease. SL TFTC
In Wangaratta to attend an event this afternoon. It was an opportunity to throw in the bike and grab a few of these along the trail, that I haven't got yet. It was a cool morning but I was surprised to see, so many muggles out and about along the trail.
After missing the last one, this was a quick find, despite the recent flooding, the new co-ords where easy enough to find.
Thanks BettyBoo3747 for all the effort of placing the cache for us to find and doing the maintenance to keep it in play

Our second cache on the way to an event in Wang. That is one long thin tunnel. Cache found quickly. log signed and returned as found
Having seen the devastation yesterday, caused by 6 inches of rain in mid-December (in 24 hours) I thought I had better ride the Rail Trail and check all the caches. This ride was between Tarrawingee Station and Bowser Station checking all my caches along the way. 15 kilometres, 3 hours of hard work and 38 degrees by the time we finished at 12.30pm. Mad dogs and geocachers only out in this heat. Fortunately we had a car and cold drinks waiting at the Wangaratta end.
Almost to the end of the ride and thought this would be a quick check-up and onwards but concrete posts were pushed over and buckled, covered by walls of grass. Impossible to access the resident cache. Decided to let that one be and put a new one close by.
New coordinates taken although the hide hasn't moved far.
