Visiting New Plymouth for the weekend. Nice sunny day to be out caching. Initially confused by the hint and several rocks but as it’s a regular I did work out where it was. Thanks for the smiley.

.Found this one wet and log manky so left a temp RITR log to help keep this one rolling along. Cheers

Day 7 - Friday 20 December. New Plymouth area today.

The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are spending Christmas exploring Taranaki via geocaching. Its been an amazing 3 week adventure. Rattls BBQ was a great event, meeting many other cachers. But also managed to fit in a few more events, especially New Years Day celebrating the start of 2020. Lots of caches - over 500. Lots of cache maintenance. Lots and lots of kilometers. And lots of amazing places visited along our journey. Mt Taranaki remained elusive for much of our travels and the caches on it at the top. Loved Pukekura Park Night Lights Show and the the Wooden Mechanical toy exhibition at NP Info centre.

20-Dec-19
Ugh. Replaced the manky log with a nice new waterproof Florist's paper log. I wish... I wish more people would double container there caches!

Day seven of Taybeedragon's and my big 3 week circumnavicaching trip around Mt Taranaki, starting from Palmerston North. Today is New Plymouth - we got here at long last! Yes, it's been a slow trip!!
Highlights:
* 3 weeks, 536 caches
* Mt Taranaki had been removed for washing, which was a bit of a shame. Even after it had been returned we were only allowed to see it for it was less than half an hour a day.
* High percentage of caches with crappy coordinates Sad
* Amazing Pukekura Park
* AMAZING Pukekura Park light show!
* Pukeiti Gardens
* 3 notebooks full of cache notes for later logging
* Lots of cache maintenance!

***[======== NZ Mega 2020 ========](http://nzmega.com)***

Planning for the [NZ Mega 2020](http://nzmega.com) event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. It's going to be a massive celebration of geocaching:

* 20 years of geocaching worldwide.
* 20 years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
* And it's 2020 - all the 20s!

Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of [this event](https://coord.info/GC87777) - you won't want to miss it!

Still quite a few snails, especially under the other rock. TFTC

17-Sep-19
A wrong turning... since we stopped by this cache, hopped out to find it. Very cute! But like just about every cache we have seen during this visit, covered with snails! That also explains the chewed logbook...

What's Upjohn? Oh, Hi John. Righto, as I was...

Up here for an awesome weekend jaunt with Karma Reprint, Team Gators and TheWanglers and to do a loop of the mountain in 48 hours grabbing as many caches as we could while having a good laugh. Logs signed as some derivative of (KT)^2

Cheers Malady for the cache

10-Aug-19
A planned geocaching trip to the USA was shelved (but is all go for this time next year!) so we came up with a weekends Plan B. Taranaki with TheWanglers, KarmaReprint and KiwiMoose - logs signed (TK)^2 or a variation of. A really fun trip with the forecast rain and thunder seemingly always in the distance but never hindering us. A really fun weekend.
Day 2 dawned with a bit of drizzle but that soon cleared (whilst eating breakfast) and we had a lovely trip missing all the bad weather again. Harwea to New Plymouth the long way. Heaps of history; cool scenery and lots of laughs. Cheers all!
Hah ha. Sneaky sneaky at night....nice one. Cheers.

Day two Hawera to New Plymouth via Opunake

Great to be out and about, find quickly made. A nice concept and a smile on the dial so FP time. Cheers

A long weekend cache raid to Taranaki. The weather didn't stop us doing anything, and we had fun times. Logs were signed with a combination of KT and 2 depending one which of did the signing. Thanks Kiwi Moose, Team_Gaters and TheWanglers for a choice time.

Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

A plan was hatched for a few of us to head to America for a Mad Mission. With life getting a bit crazy a downsized trip was organised as I had sorted childcare for the cachelets. The big America trip is now set for next year. We asked a member of our crew if we could go to Nelson, Dunedin, Auckland, Wellington, Hastings the answer all came back "I don't have many to find there". We left it to that member to suggest an area. He came up with New Plymouth and a loop around the mountain. That's a go from the rest of us. We sorted puzzles, gpxs, motels and a car and hit the ground running. The forecast was doom, gloom, rain, hail and lightning. Oh well, sounds exciting. We had very little of any of the weather that affected our caching and found we had all overpacked (thank God!).
Day 2: Today was a long day in the car 14 hours or so to our home for the night and then an hour or two after dinner before having a beer at the campground. We started in Hawera and went the long way around the coast with many detours. The history was amazing and the the lack of irrigation was very noticable to us Cantabrians. We once again missed the horrible weather!
Lovely cache, I wish there were more like this. Fav.

Thanks for the cache Malady.

Today we planned to go up Mt. Taranaki, but as the weather turned out to be very bad up there we only made it to the I-site and then returned to New Plymouth and fill in the day there.

Really liked this one. Saw it on our way over to the I-site, and when we got back to New Plymouth we decided to make a detour to get this one….

Meanwhile this is my third geocaching-trip to Middle-Earth Smile.
I love it! [:X]
And still there are routes and places in this beautiful country that are on the 'discover-me' list and want to be visited and explored. Big Grin
Day #8:
Staying at beautiful New Plymouth for the first time Wink, the day called for a long, relaxing bike-ride and walk along the coastline, into the city and around the local parks Smile...
After around 20 km’s of biking and walking Razz the day was my friend! Cool (And I was done Red FaceRazz [xx(])
Enjoyed the great scenery Big Grin and appreciated a number of cute geo-treasures Cool in the area, just like this one:
So nicely hidden! Smile Just wondering, what kind of animal was starving and had fun eating parts of the logbook... Wink
Thanks to the owner [:X] for placing this cache and cheers from Germany! SmileSmile

#6488. I have been up in New Plymouth on a work trip and decided to stay an extra day to do some caching. After a trip around the east side of the mountain it was time to head back to the airport and drop off the rental. But a quick diversion down here to cast a wish. Nice cute wishing wheel. Found the cache and signed the log. Great to see a bit of a creative cache on private property. Thanks for placing it here Malady. Had a sense of deja vu about this location. Did you have another cache placed here previously? Or maybe it was missing at the time. Cheers GSEL

TeamBOP have come together again for a trip to the Naki. Team BOP consists of myself (obviously), McJandals, Philip.Perry and DavidsonClan.
We decided to take the long way there, via the Forgotten Highway, experiencing the world famous in New Zealand Republic of Whangamomona Day.
After enjoying the light festival and finding a few caches in the gardens, we continued into the night. Luckily there was no-one about now, so we were able to make the find without feeling too sus.
Thanks to all the CO's for attracting us to the Taranaki and finally visiting these spectacular gardens.
TFTC

19-Jan-19
It was time to assemble Team BOP as I hadn't seen these crazy people since the Mega. The plan was Taranaki via the Forgotten World Highway and we were all pretty excited about it. It was a big couple of days so forgive the cut'n'paste logs as I'm logging retrospectively and a few of the hides are blurring together. TNXPro, McJandals, Davidson Clan & myself signed our logs individually or as TEAM BOP depending on time, log space or mood.

A nice touch but I'm a little surprised it's not muggled more often. Cache was found quickly and in good condition thanks to good coords and a straight forward placement - Cheers and TFTC Smile

19-Jan-19
Found using Cachly app and logged using the text template, so please excuse generic logging in advance. On a spur of the moment roadie with Phillip.Perry, TNXPRO and Davidson Clan from the Bay of Plenty, a plan was hatched and here we are. Great to have these places to visit and many thanks to all you COs for the placements. Cheers

For today I have chosen, as a restday activity, walking and geocaching on Huatoki walkway and also looking for a caches on the way from my accomodation in YHA to this walkway. Found with other six traditional caches in one day after my returning from four day trip in Egmont national park, including my successful climbing of Taranaki in winter conditions. Nice idea for a cache box. Hint was useful. Found without any problems. But not on the original place. The chache is temporary in letterbox just next to the place where use to be. New Zealands caches are my furtherst caches ever. They are around 18000 km far from Slovakia. Thanks for the cache.

15-Nov-18
Not under the rocks

The cache isn't quite hidden as per the clue, but looking at the previous log, I knew where to look and saw the cache before opening the outer container. The box is a bit cracked but everything is kept dry. TFTC.

rustynz tells me I need to catch up with all my logging!

A 3 day weekend of fun with a group of Westies (rustynz, gorby, jag58 & merlot58)

Sorry for the generic logs. Thanks to all the CO for the hides, and the adventure

19-Aug-17
A 3 day weekend had been planned a few months ago by Rebel98, we had cheap airfares organised for New Plymouth but due to fog, we actually came down from Auckland on a lovely coach.
Whew! Last cache for the day, and I for one am happy about that. I'm tired of all the walking we've done today and Team Westies (myself, Jag50, merlot58, rustynz and Rebel98 too) are ready for some dinner very soon back at our motel. Thanks for the cache here.

19-Aug-17
Found with Team Westies (Merlot58, RustyNZ, Rebel98 and Gorby) after attending an event in the park. Nice quick find on our walk back to the car. Cache container has a cracked lid and the log is soaking wet. Cute idea for a cache!

19-Aug-17
I was visiting New Plymouth with a few other Westies from Auckland. Having found a nearby cache we were returning to the car and passed by this cache. A cute setting but unfortunately the container lid is cracked and so the cache was full of water and the log book soaking wet

19-Aug-17
Last find for the day. Loved GZ, so thanks for the placement.

Caching with a group of Westies, the log signed Team Westies (merlot58, rustynz, rebel98, Jag50 and Gorby)

Sadly the container was full of water, and the log book soaked. Jag50 signed the log book, but it probably needs some TLC (see previous logs).

We were just visiting for a few days, we had family getting ready to head over to the united kingdom, but couldn't visit and not get some caches in the lovely area of New Plymouth. We had just left a cache and I said stop there is another one just here I looked across the road and yes we quickly worked out where we had to park the car. The title was a great clue to the cache find. we quickly found it signed the log and placed it back where we found it, but not before making a wish, I hope luck is in my favor. Thank you for this cute location and placing a cache here for all to enjoy. TFTC
