Thanks for showing us a bit of local history. Easy find, though cache was in the open so I hid it a little. TFTC
Ng mihi o Matariki, and a great time to be out in nature. Spotted and retrieved with only one stab wound. Nice to turn a blue face yellow as it was missing last time we visited. Tftc
Heading South and parked alongside this one. Soon sighted the cache and added my Monica, and decided to strip out the encroaching branches which 'might' push the container out. After grappling with ' Seymour' I fed it plenty of my blood as thorns and twigs (solely my fault) ripped my hands and skin. Dripping the red stuff I retreated to the car. No medals for me today!It's head home today after a couple of nights at Urenui beach. A nice long weekend in Taranaki was just what I wanted, too many times previously it's just been a time-constrained day visit and have never really scratched beyond the surface of the area, or the caching. I was keen to head home via SH45 surf highway and a couple of other caches. Also keen to up my cache finds by the CO Phronimos, and this was a Pheeding Phrenzy as I got a few of his, as a CO I'm aiming to get finds by him up to triple figures, today will help with that aim. Phanks very much to all regional COs for their placements and maintenance/choices of awesome places to get people to visit.
Good to get this one ticked off after a DNF first time, easy find this time in a place I had previously looked. TFTC
Lovely little church and monument. Cache had fallen on the ground in plain sight so put it behind and up a bit.
Hubby was able to find our last cache for the day. Nice to have good parking access.
planned group attack on new Plymouth for this long weekend.
with squirrel nutcase eyespyben and ABCDF4
kiwiana trail was our main goal but anything else will be great.
just had to be careful getting cache from location

With ABCDF4, eyespyben, and Gap (of Fap and Gap)... A planned expedition into the Taranaki region. All logs were signed with our individual handles, or Team HRP (Huntly, Rotorua, Papamoa) depending on who accessed the logbook first...
King's Birthday Monday: As soon as we learned there was a cache at this historic church (St John's, Omata), we were eager to take a look... The cache was a straight forward find thanks to a very specific hint. Thanks Phronimos. TFTC.

As this geocache regularly ‘disappears’ I checked while passing. Initially I thought it’d gone again, but no, it’s there.
I found it easier to reach it from the front as the hedge is a bit spiky. All good here.

Oops if BFG can’t find it, It would seem this one may have disappeared. I’ll be up shortly to fix it, but in the meantime disabling.
#13,374. Park, walk and grab on Waireka Road East in Omata. GZ was all quiet at the time of our visit. Relatively quick find. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log (first to sign the replaced cache).Thanks for the placement, and for bringing us to this site, and .T h a n k s. .f o r. .t h e. .c a c h e..M a u r u u r u. .k o e. .n u i. .a t u. .h o k i. .t e. .k e t e r o k i.
Geocache replaced today. The nearby hedge has severe spines until it’s next pruned, so please be careful. More careful than I was!
Covid lockdowns etc has restricted my ability to check this. Disabling until I next can visit. Will be sorted by Easter.
No luck for us today, and there don't seem to be many options. Not a wasted stop though, what a gorgeous church!
CO will check out and replace this cache Labour weekend if Covid-19 restrictions allow.
found easily as it was not put back properly, so signed log and returned to where it should have been. tftc
had to stop for this one and check out the memorial in case some relatives are on it for the family tree.
grandad wanted to look at the monument while i hunted round for this cache soon in hand.
couldnt get anywhere near this 1 today due to arriving at the wrong time of day "schools out "
Nice and easy park and grab. Was able to park on the side road. I haven't really spent much time down this way so wouldn't have noticed the place if not for Geocaching. The places GC takes me! TFTC
Quick and easy find and a nice way to break up the first day off school with COVID19 TFTC
Found with MrsC on our NZ travels from the UK. Thanks. Found on the long drive from Wellington to New Plymouth.
A quick easy find at this church with an interesting history. Close to the cache there is a new fibre optic(?) connection which does not need to be touched. TFTC
I fo like these little churches. Found with mr c on our travels from the UK thank you
.Another memorial to check out and a church too. Sadly the church is in bad repair and today locked so cant investigate inside. Oh well snagged this cache here anyway. Cheers
Day 9 - Sunday 22 December.Round trip New Plymouth to Okato and back today.
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are spending Christmas exploring Taranaki via geocaching. Its been an amazing 3 week adventure. Rattls BBQ was a great event, meeting many other cachers. But also managed to fit in a few more events, especially New Years Day celebrating the start of 2020. Lots of caches - over 500. Lots of cache maintenance. Lots and lots of kilometers. And lots of amazing places visited along our journey. Mt Taranaki remained elusive for much of our travels and the caches on it at the top. Loved Pukekura Park Night Lights Show and the the Wooden Mechanical toy exhibition at NP Info centre.

Love these old churches but it deperately need a was and paint. I have discovered a simple measure as to the... quality? of the local population. Is the church door locked? Sadly this one is.
Day ten of Taybeedragon's and my big 3 week circumnavicaching trip around Mt Taranaki, starting from Palmerston North. Earlier we did most of the coast road up from Hawera, Today we start from New Plymouth and finish it off.
Highlights:
* 3 weeks, 536 caches
* Mt Taranaki had been removed for washing, which was a bit of a shame. Even after it had been returned we were only allowed to see it for it was less than half an hour a day.
* High percentage of caches with crappy coordinates
* Amazing Pukekura Park
* AMAZING Pukekura Park light show!
* Pukeiti Gardens
* Lots of cache maintenance!

Planning for the [NZ Mega 2020](http://nzmega.com) event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. It's going to be a massive celebration of geocaching:
* 20 years of geocaching worldwide.
* 20 years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
* And it's 2020 - all the 20s!
Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of [this event](https://coord.info/GC87777) - you won't want to miss it!

Took a few minutes to find this one, doh.
Up here for an awesome weekend jaunt with Karma Reprint, Team Gators and TheWanglers and to do a loop of the mountain in 48 hours grabbing as many caches as we could while having a good laugh. Logs signed as some derivative of (KT)^2
Cheers Phronimos for the cache

A planned geocaching trip to the USA was shelved (but is all go for this time next year!) so we came up with a weekends Plan B. Taranaki with TheWanglers, KarmaReprint and KiwiMoose - logs signed (TK)^2 or a variation of. A really fun trip with the forecast rain and thunder seemingly always in the distance but never hindering us. A really fun weekend.
Day 2 dawned with a bit of drizzle but that soon cleared (whilst eating breakfast) and we had a lovely trip missing all the bad weather again. Harwea to New Plymouth the long way. Heaps of history; cool scenery and lots of laughs. Cheers all!
Cool wee church. Thanks.

Day two Hawera to New Plymouth via Opunake
Great to be out and about, find quickly made. Cheers
A long weekend cache raid to Taranaki. The weather didn't stop us doing anything, and we had fun times. Logs were signed with a combination of KT and 2 depending one which of did the signing. Thanks Kiwi Moose, Team_Gaters and TheWanglers for a choice time.
Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

A plan was hatched for a few of us to head to America for a Mad Mission. With life getting a bit crazy a downsized trip was organised as I had sorted childcare for the cachelets. The big America trip is now set for next year. We asked a member of our crew if we could go to Nelson, Dunedin, Auckland, Wellington, Hastings the answer all came back "I don't have many to find there". We left it to that member to suggest an area. He came up with New Plymouth and a loop around the mountain. That's a go from the rest of us. We sorted puzzles, gpxs, motels and a car and hit the ground running. The forecast was doom, gloom, rain, hail and lightning. Oh well, sounds exciting. We had very little of any of the weather that affected our caching and found we had all overpacked (thank God!).
Day 2: Today was a long day in the car 14 hours or so to our home for the night and then an hour or two after dinner before having a beer at the campground. We started in Hawera and went the long way around the coast with many detours. The history was amazing and the the lack of irrigation was very noticable to us Cantabrians. We once again missed the horrible weather!
Took a bit to locate.
Thanks for the cache Phronimos.

Find 41 of 80 for today.
Find 121 of 224 for the trip.

Perfect weekend to come up this way for a spot of caching, enjoyed the weather and the many caches we found. thanks for the placement.
Today we planned to go up Mt. Taranaki, but as the weather turned out to be very bad up there we only made it to the I-site and then returned to New Plymouth and fill in the day there.
Quick find after we leaned over the fence...

Down in the area for a few days visiting family and enjoying the Coastal Cycleway, interspersed with a little bit of geocaching as well. Nice historical site and very quaint old church. SL. TFTC.
It was time to assemble Team BOP as I hadn't seen these crazy people since the Mega. The plan was Taranaki via the Forgotten World Highway and we were all pretty excited about it. It was a big couple of days so forgive the cut'n'paste logs as I'm logging retrospectively and a few of the hides are starting to blur together. This spot was neat and we enjoyed exploring the area. The cache was found quickly and in good condition thanks to accurate coords and a straight forward placement. TNXPro, McJandals, Davidson Clan & myself signed our logs individually or as TEAM BOP depending on time, log space or mood. Cheers & TFTC
TeamBOP have come together again for a trip to the Naki. Team BOP consists of myself (obviously), McJandals, Philip.Perry and DavidsonClan.
After eventually finding our accommodation and having more of a sleep than we intended, it was back to business this morning.
Thanks to all the CO's for attracting us to the Taranaki.
