Accio 07:15:37A quick weekend in NZ - having conquered Alice yesterday, Stairman1 and I decided to work our way across the peninsula following this trail. No worries here. Thanks alligatorsnz for entertaining me at this location. *{Overall find #12308}*
Today is my first day with the camper on my way to Tapu I found some Caches and some not.
Thanks a lot.
Here I found #1 and 2 but for 3,4,5 I was not good enough.

Wet day heading home after spending some time at Miranda shorebird centre. Thanks for the smiley.
This one was hard to find I think it may have fallen from its original spot! Unfortunately forgot a pen so will have to come back and write in the log
Left our calling card here. Cheers. Nearly there now
Day 8 - Christmas Day - Friday 25 December - Whitianga - Its the 'There N Back' series on the radar for today, with a few stragglers around Whitianga still to scoop up.
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are off on another geocaching escape over Xmas, this time to the mighty Coromandel, then over to Opotiki and stop off at Rotorua to return home on 5 January. Had an fabulous time exploring many wonders of our country. Rounding up over 400 caches along the way, with a few LABS, 20 odd TMGTs, virtuals and lots of interesting earth caches to keep the mind busy. Watching the sun come up on New Years Day at Mt Maunganui was spectacular. Lots of walking and even more driving. But had an awesome time. Thanks to all COs who made this adventure so special.

I have written in my notebook "Looking over the edge..." No idea what that means! It is now 12 January as I write this log up and I cannot remember GZ here at all.
Taybeedragon and I went on a tour of the Coromandel - one of the few places of New Zealand, especially of Te ika a Maui, that I have yet to explore throughly, and from there along the coast to Opotiki to see one of my many, many sisters. From 18 December to 5 January we found over 400 caches, including 12 adventure labs (60 caches), 20 or so TMGTs and a host of virtuals and earthcaches. And I hosted an event to see the sun come up on New Year's day - surprisingly popular given that it was at 5am. We climbed a lot of hills, saw some amazing beaches that were quite popular despite (or because of) the insane access to them, walk a lot of bush, entered and explored 8 gold mines and generally had an awesome time. However I am glad to be back, but now is the hard part, and I fear it will take just as long - logging!

Out and about for a few days for a bit of a road trip around the Coromandel area. Day Two of my road trip. I started my travels in Thames and ended my day in Whitianga. The main objective of my trek today was to travel the Tapu - Coroglen Road and find as many of the caches on this trail as possible. Apologies for the mainly cut and paste logs. I will note anything that stood out for me. This one took me a lot longer to spot than the first one. Got it in the end. TFTC, Biggles.
We knew we would not have time for all along the road, but we decided to stop for some to break the drive. More hidden than I expected based on the D rating. TFTC!!
Good hint made this one easy. NOt sure oif we will complete the series as it's soooooo hot today, and very dusty.
Located this one on a day trip to the area. No problem with the find and we’re enjoying testing our new motorhome tow vehicle on the dusty gravel roads TFTC.
Continuing our hunting even without reception to read the information about this cache me and Line_Moh we managed to find it, GZ has been working well, logbook dried. Now there's only 20+ to find, hehe

Had plans with Tramyard to head back to the Coromandel, this time to complete the There 'n Back trail between Tapu and Coroglen. It was an early morning start, leaving home at just after 5am to get coffee on the way to meet tramyard. A very successful day, with 65 caches found before arriving home exhausted at 11pm.
Tramyard's 4x4 made easy work of the dirt road. This road wasn't too busy with most vehicles approaching from the opposite direction and we were grateful for the handy parking locations right by the caches.

Found it while in Coromandel with Aiden29 to complete There 'n Back trail between Tapu and Coroglen. We did 400km today.
Pleasure to find all caches here. Well placed and maintained.
Thanks for keeping this trail alive.
Much appreciated.

This ended up being the hardest caching day of my trip so far. The weather wasn't good and some of the caches were hard to find. Still enjoyed it and thanks for the caches.
Hello, on my way from Tapu to the Hot Water Beach, I found this beautiful Road and a lot of Caches around. Looking foreward to see how many I can find. Thank you for hiding. Greetings from Germany

On a big mission to get a pile of caches so I can land my 7000th cache on either Mnt Ruapehu or Mnt Ngauruhoe on the 16th March! Hoping, weather permitting, that rustynz can join me for her 5000th cache as well on the same day. A bit of planning going into this I can tell ya!
No worries with this one. Lovely stream running past me.

A real late log as i just remembered these two caches that we visited en route to the water gardens as we travelled to matarangi. from Thames.
On our trip thru NZ we visit a lot of places and see many spectacular locations.
This cache was one of our stopps thanks a lot to the owner.

I had a day off from my work remodeling our kitchen, so I planned a day doing both the "There n back" and the "309 Pony Express". This turned out to be quite a bit for one person, so if I couldn't find the cache right away, I gave up quickly.

I’ve finally got the chance to look for some of this series, as Im crossing the peninsula to get from papa aroha to whangamata this afternoon. Felt a bit conspicuous here, as a muggle parked up nearby & appeared to be watching me. Thankfully a nice quick find with the hint meant I wasn’t hanging around under his gaze. TFTC
We were staying at the Tapu Creek campground and decided to take an evening walk down the road to the village for fish and chips on the beach. A lovely evening for the walk and we had the chance to cache along the way too.
We soon found this one with the help of the hint. SL. TFTC.

Took a little detour on our day out to the rapaura gardens and had to stop for a cache or two. TFTC
We had a night without the kids so thought we would head out on a short road trip and collect a few caches along the way. We sorted our accommodation in nearby Te Puru then with a few hours of daylight left headed out to attempt this trail. Took us a little while to spot this cache. GPS appeared a little out, re-looked at the hint which helped, then geosense kicked in and the cache was in hand. TFTC
what a road... if it wasn't for the cache series, i probably wouldn't have driven this route to the other side of the peninsula. now i'm really glad i did, there were some stunning views on the way. so this really lives up to the basic idea of geocaching. thanks a lot for all the roadside stops and TFTC!
Tftc! Junior scoobydoo #2 was the helper on this find. Was a bit confused, not knowing what a berm was, but a quick hunt turned up the goods. Glad we didn't have to venture over the berm for the find...steep drop down there!!!
Please see main log at There n back #22 (L) (Coromandel).

no problems here either and just 1 more to go. TFTC

Road trip around the Coromandel with lots of caches to find. Time to check out the back roads, they are pretty much the same as the ones at home in the Far North. Quick easy find. TFTC.

Thankfully this road is quiet so our strange behaviour was mostly hidden. Soon had cache in hand and we were off to the next one. TFTC
Master SethRaven and I are off to Tairua for a 21st so I decided we would drive this way and try to gather most of this trail. Unlucky here today and we are off to try for the 3rd . . . . . when I couldn't find this one . . . I read the previous log notes, and noted the co-ordinates had been changed . . . so this took me closer to the sign and I searched again but with no luck . . . . .will have to wait now for another trip another day
4.55pm - Part of our journey today was to see if we could clear the There N Back Trail. We were really travelling from the wrong direction and at some spots parking was very tight. Caches were normally close to the road but some took a little longer to find than others. In all we missed out on 2 caches and reading their logs they don't appear to be there. Will come back another day with the luck they should be there or replaced. SLTFTC
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... Completed a job at Tairua Marina, so now it's caching, game on...
The Tapu-Coroglen Road was consistently busy today, with traffic passing at regular intervals. We wonder why motorists choose this through road. There are lots of blind corners, narrow sections, and steep drop-offs. Caching certainly complicates the need to drive and concentrate (not that I was the driver)...
We found most of the caches after very thorough searches. Not many are straight park and grabs, so a lot more than 'footprints' got left behind. We also found a lot of the caches were marginally out for our iPhone gps (not that it is reliable)... Parking was a little problematic, but we managed. TFTC.

Doing this trek with teh beconaze's, and am happy to say I found this one! Mr Beconaze is very competitive. Like your cache containers.
Maintenance day is here:-) Cache moved, and container swapped out for the latest "generation" anti condensation design.. new log book... ( The Tapu- Coroglen road has proven to be the nemesis when it comes to keeping the logs dry!) Cache good to go.
Please look after the bush and vegetation guys... write only logs, take only photographs, leave only footprints please guys!

Found this one with little trouble - much to Toadless' frustration. Log a little damp.
2416 Have had these on my radar for sometime. Needed cheering up so decided to cache. 2nd for the day.
Philip put the call out for travel victims and yet again I put my hand up, but this time we had traded in our usual partner-in-crime for a far more attractive one - Jenseeker.
We drove from Tauranga and turned off the main road to head up the east coast, which I am sure that I have never been before. Once we got to Coroglen, Philip decided that to get the numbers up on this trip, we will need to hit this trail.
We started at the Coroglen end and headed west, completing the series in reverse order. The cache pages were well written with good descriptions and parking spots highlighted, which made for a relatively quick and easy trail.
Overall, it is a very enjoyable series, on a road surprisingly busy, but nice country road.
It is almost impossible for me to remember all the caches along the trail, but there are some that stand out as memorable and as CO requests for any maintenance required, I will try to add specific notes to the caches below.
* Found, but tree has been cut down and cache no longer able to be attached
* We moved cache about 4m upstream hanging about head high
Thanks for bringing us here and TFTCS.

Somehow I'd scored another leave pass so a short notice call went out over FB, leaving Tauranga by 8am. TNXPro & Jenseeker were up for it and this was our 42nd find. We signed the log combinations of PTJ depending on who had the pen. Honestly these caches all tend to blur together, the series on the whole was very enjoyable but many of the logs need replacing due to water damage. While some caches could be spotted from the car - not this one though. This one was Cheers alligatorsnz.

After spending a night in Whitianga, caching and checking out the caravan parks we decided we had to have a go at this trail which has been beckoning for a while. While it is meant to be done from Tapu we were already at Coroglen so we worked it backwards.
Ah yes, the hint was pretty accurate and Mr S saw where it was while Mrs S retrieved it. Up there he said, you do it. Right. !. Sun is getting really really low now. Still have to get back to Rotorua, so takeaways for dinner again tonight we think
Thanks alligatorsnz. Just one more, can we make it before sunset.

Another of the there and backs found on our travels of the Coromandel...great road with massive kauri and numerous caches on the way...thanks again.
on the way to the waterpark we could find this cache. tftc and greetings from germany.
Found while on holidays from Australia. Good guess which side of the road it was. The road is very narrow and sometimes very busy.
An enjoyable day driving around some of the upper Coromandel with Waiiti20. Thought we would check out the series on a back country road. TFTC
A real mission to get the log sheet out of this one as it was scrunched in. We folded it lengthwise, which should make it easier to extract for the next finder. A lovely road, found on a hot sunny day. TFTC alligatorsnz, #8415
Driving over to Whitianga today and thought we would dodge the traffic by taking this road as well as picking up all of the caches here. Unfortunately it looks like the road has been recently redone and there is a bit of a trench dug all along the side of the road and piles of loose gravel which meant that after the first few caches we were unable to park on the side of the road in our non 4 wheel drive car. Will have to come back another time to finish off this trail.
Once again the hint was helpful, thanks for the cache!

Getting the handle on the CO we soon found #2... thankfully the weather stayed sunny. t4tc
We have decided to do this road to cut of and lucky to find a couple of caches too. It just started to drippel a bit of rain. When doing this with a 7mtr campervan you need to keep in mind that you will travel around 40km/hour. No problem for us as we really enjoyed the trip very much. This is our Number 1
This was a good series, think I only missed one , liked how they were tied in place. I nice little run and scenery to die for

This looks like a cool series - another lot to add to my ever-increasing todo list . We just made a quick stop on our way to rapaura gardens, but sadly we're a few days too early - still closed. Tftc
Number 2 of the power trail on the way to Whitianga, nice quick find once the correct tea tree was found, log was nice and dry TFTC!
We overshot this one, busy looking at the river and ford (not flooded today - its a beautiful sunny day) but only a short walk back to GZ. Looked in more tea trees than we needed too, but eventually we got the right one. Thanks for the hide
Another good find on a trip away geocaching.

I found this cache as part of a group of overachieving Hamiltonian Geocachers who thought it would be a good idea to leave Hamilton after work on a Friday and drive some 400km around the Coromandel Peninsula collecting caches along the way and arriving home just before 8am Saturday morning. We signed the logs “1HIC” an anachronism of our Geocaching handles (1HPG1, HKCB, IamMrWalker & Cats&Dragons). I think I was invited because my Geocaching handle provided a much needed vowel to make our anachronism pronounceable. Or so I was lead to believe. We had a memorable laugh filled journey which we wouldn't have experienced without dedicated cache owners placing so many hides around the countryside-so thank you!
We all leaped out of the car and headed in four different directions, but it was HPG who went the right way and made the find.

Teamed up with a bunch of nutters from Hamilton to attack some caches around the Waihi area. We decided to head off after work on Friday to make the most of our short weekends and to make sure we are all home to our respective families for normal weekend duty. Our team consisted of '1HIC' = myself, HKCB, Iammrwalker and Catsanddragons. We signed logs as 1HIC to save space. A long long night and early morning and a lot of laughs and a few caches inbetween. Haven't pulled an 'allnighter' for a few years so my saturday was spent sleeping!
A nice little trail out here, thanks for the placements. Was very interested to see the anti condensation modification. Nice work on trying something different to stop those pesky wet logs. There were a few wet/mouldy logs though. Was great doing this trail at night as it meant there was only a couple of cars go past and we could hunt in peace.
I spied the hide, luckily in the first place I looked. Thanks for the placement

A group of us decided that we need a evening mission so that we could spend the rest of the weekend with our respective families. 11HPG11, HKCB & iammrwalker set off just before 6:00pm from Hamilton signing the found logs (obviously not the DNF's) as went went as "1HIC", so as to save space in the logbooks.
This entire mission was carried out under cover of darkness so as to ensure the "Muggle infected enemy" did not catch onto what we were about. The last cache was signed at 6:08am on the 6th June 2015.
This was my fifth cache of the evening and was soon located in what we thought was proof that the condensation container was working just as advertised. Of all the "There n back" caches we located we thought only 5 had failed the test as they were dry and clean, all the other's were as advertised.
It was not until much later in the evening (when we had well passed this series that the design was supposed to be anti-condensation).
What to say about the drive along here collecting these caches, the road was winding (as expected), the scenery non existent (it was night time), the trees were wet (from the recent rain), there was not a lot of traffic to be concerned about, the company was great, there was a lot of laughter, we had fun and most importantly caches were found (mostly).
Thanks for a great night out (please note the logs along here will not change much as the conditions didn't change). The caches were still found, the laughter came of thick and fast and we had fun.
Its still dark
thanks for the placement

Teamed up with 11HPG11, Iammrwalker & Cats&Dragons for a night assault on some on the new power trails around the Coromandel/Waihi area. Left Hamilton around 6.00pm and returned home about 7.30am, mostly successful on our quest. A couple of DNF's, and a missed FTF (got the notification about 40mins after we pasted the area), but we did manage to get one FTF on the last cache of the day.
All in all, another great mission with a lot of laughs and good times, thanks to everyone for placing all the caches. Signed the logs with 1HIC.
First power trail of the night. No problems with most of the hides, thou one or two did take a bit of a hunt to locate. Unfortunately your condensation technique wasn't very effect with only a handful of dry logs, and the general condition from damp and moldy (this was the common case) to absolutely saturated. Will try and add a sentence or two for every hide.
HPG spied the hint and the cache, while I was looking elsewhere.
