Today was our planned trip up to Port Chalmers locating some trads multis and of course the Albatross series cache which we had solved prior to coming down to the mega event here in Dunedin which was really great - thanks to all the team that worked so hard putting it all together - It was our second really rainy day and so we soon had very wet shoes etc anbut the rain coats etc kept the top half dry thankfully . We took nothing from these caches and left nothing . thank you to the cache owners and their maintenance of the caches .
I remember solving this a number of years ago, but I can't remember now how I did it Decided to have a caching adventure in the Nichols Creek area today as part of the Rambler's Reward Challenge, this one was first. I was so confused with all the different tracks and trails but eventually ended up where I needed to be. Found pretty quickly. The object that was covering the container had a MASSIVE spider underneath it! Yikes! This poor cache hasn't had many finds recently, but it's all in perfect condition (minus the spider!)
Solved the first part of the puzzle myself but needed a pointer in the right direction to complete it. Found the cache on my return from logging caches in Upper Nicols Creek - fortuitously located a track directly to it.
This puzzle turned out to be easier than anticipated, and we made it considerably harder by trying other things, until a kind hint from the owner pointed us in the right direction. Apart from the uphill trek through a myriad of tracks, the cache itself was a quick easy find. TFTC
I confess that I didn't solve this one but was lucky to be with someone who had solved it today and took the opportunity to add my name to the logbook. Claiming as my 3rd ramble towards the ramblers reward challenge. Tftc
I was another who hadn't solved the puzzle but in the company of one who had. We found this on our way to a series of others, good place for a breather. Found with Debsnz and Wilbywarrior. Thanks katie... er.... Griselinia.
This was quite an adventure. Spent a morning decoding the message but still didn't have any idea what to do. CO gave a little help and so did some fellow caches and then we were off.
Set aside the next morning for the walk and had a great time visiting attractions along the way. Found with absolute ease once at GZ and was very handy to have a map of the area to help navigate. Cache was safe and bone dry.
Nice to be able log this find after almost 4 years since its last find.

Solved the puzzle easily and put it on my To Do list for when I was next in the area. Did a walk with the Wednesday Walkers, found the cache, signed the log and forgot to log to my Garmin. Result: when I got home, I logged the other caches I had found that day, but not that one.
Set out on a caching expedition this morning, and saw this one on the horizon. Wasn't sure whether the track i was on would pass close to GZ, and actually it didn't, but a bit of bush-bashing got me to the correct track and spot. Looked around and thought: "Hang on, I am sure I have found this one, it should be just there", and sure enough, there it was. Checked the date of the original find, logged to my Garmin before I did anything else with a note of original date, put everything back and set off to search for the last few caches on my list for today.

Hot or not? Yes very! After sitting in the sun yesterday painting children's faces I found that I had been sunburnt. So today I was walking around the track looking like a lobster and radiating a decent amount of heat.
The puzzle took me ages to solve. I do remember on primary school trips we did walks up the pineapple track and we would end up chewing on a leaf or two. I've always enjoyed spicy hot food though so I've never really minded them.
The cache was fairly straightforward to find so the log was signed and then there was the not quite as hot decent back down the hill. Thanks

This one has been sitting in my 'not sure what to do' pile for a while until a chance comment by someone made me have another look at it and I realised my error in trying to solve it previously. A lovely winters day was a good excuse for a walk and once at GZ, made a super quick find. Found with Aoraki Sheep.
debsnz solved the puzzle and I led the way to GZ where our co-ords were spot on. Nice to get out and stretch the legs on such a nice winters day. Found with debsnz
Solved in prep for our trip from Oz (for its D/T rating) but only with a hint...doh! Finally the day came to look for it. We made a false start on the "other" track which after the rains was interesting! Backtracked and joined our wheely good friends then headed straight up. At GZ Mr. O. made it way harder than it needed to be. Very pleased when Mrs O. called me down with cache in hand! Thanks for both puzzle and cache.

Ah - my favourite food additive for some bush tucker, or at least that's what I tell the kids...

Decided to have a look at this one after dinner and managed to get the coordinates in hand just before 6pm. Wondered if I had enough time to get there and back out before dark, but decided to give it a go and take the torch along just in case. Actually it all went very smoothly and I was able to follow a rather familiar trail (I think I stepped over a few caches on the way) to a relatively quick find. A faster return (gravity can be quite helpful that way) and I was home typing up the log by 7:20. Thanks for a neat cache and excellent walk.
The mind was a complete blank for this one; scoured through all sorts of possible paths but the temperature remained below minus 273 degrees. Until the obvious... but being a bit feverish by now, misinterpreted the coordinates and had to be gently pointed in the warm direction by Nurse CO.
So today, needing a walk after flat-shifting duties, headed up the direct route to GZ, a round trip of just over an hour. Wrong choice at the last junction, so had to bushbash upwards to get warm, and there was something which just had to be the hide. But nothing in the deep hole underneath... or the amazing hollow space you reach if you perch up there and peer around... or anywhere else we searched. Oh dear, we feel a dreadful chill. Try PAF. Yes, we're hot! Thanks to all the 'hot and cold' assistance!
Also used to play the 'pretend to bite a horopito leave to persuade another child to try it' game - it was very embarrassing the time a friend actually did believe me, bit into a leaf and was in considerable discomfort.

Wow, what a great adventure! It all started yesterday morning when I first looked at the puzzle. At 5am... That was great! At least I know not to do that next time Enlisted the help in the house and over the ditch too, and got the head spinning so much I did not even know it was possible Certainly learned something, but we were back to square one... Did the CO intend to leads us up the garden path?? Possibly... Later that day I noticed something out of the ordinary, and there it was!! No geochecker, so no way of knowing for sure until one takes the uphill path for about 45 minutes. Unfortunately no chance of doing it then and there, so I had to put the exploration off until the next day. I took a few shortcuts to get to gz, but the time was pretty spot on. No cache though.. . 20 minutes of searching later, still no cache. I was trying to see a place where the CO could have hidden the cache I was glad I did not come last night to search by moonlight It did not feel like I was getting any hotter, and started doubting my solution, when the GPS all of a sudden changed its mind, and took me another 30m uphill through the bush - and what a likely spot! Sure enough, the cache was soon in hand! FTF at 10:10am!! Great fun, thanks so much for the puzzle - all parts of it I think - and a cool location for the cache!!
