A warm one today and decided to take the long way back home after attending the Mega this weekend in Wangaratta. Looking at the map there is work I need to do here, too many unfounded caches. I'll be back... With the legs fully loosen up it was time to make the final run home. It's been a great last 3 days. Nice area and spot to hide a cache some nice shade here.

frmen1 and I grabbed this on our way back down to the car. Had to stop and admire the views and frog noises for a while as the place was a hive of muggle activity. TFTC
Crossed this bridge last week while walking the trail with friends. Today I returned to have a good look for the cache. Found it in the last place I searched.
Making my way home from a great camping weekend. Made this cache harder than it needed to be originally by exploring the wrong end and realised I needed to change sides. It was then much easier than originally expected.
Thanks Clever Monkey for the cache.

Coming back through Alexandra on our way to Healesville and of course time for a few caches.
This is the first of the day, nice brisk stroll along the rail trail, looked at the wrong side first but then soon corrected and had cache in hand. TFTC

#4365 Cache is still there. Quickly found by Mrs BGF once we were on the correct side of the bridge as we enjoy a section of the olde railway alignment on foot. TFTC CM.
Great to get a few days off before Christmas to just escape and chill. The email inbox will be over flowing no doubt….. oh well. Went out on a little adventure with Trailstevo to collect a number of cache that have eluded me and I never have time to stop when passing though. Left home at 6am and made our way to Yea for an early morning coffee, YEA!! Did some homework at the local fossil Earthcache and proceeded to make our way along the rail trail stopping for a number of short walks collecting smiley faces as we go. At one point I found myself accidently driving down the trail, but wasn’t brave enough to turn that into a major event for the day. We continued on to Yarck, and the down to Alexandra for an Egg and Bacon roll and the second coffee of the day. 10am now. WE had been collecting clues for a local multicache which has now made us do a detour and collected 5 unplanned cache on that route….oops. Then back to the plana and we made our way to the Maintongoon Bushland reserve for a bit of puffing and blowing up the hill. So many grass seeds! Friggen things! Will have to mow my boots tomorrow! Then one last stop at the look out across the lack and back home for 2pm. Was a great little adventure. Thanks to all the CO’s for the fun. Some great cache in this area, we thoroughly enjoyed it.
Another quick find today whilst out and about caching to clever monkey TFTC from the inspectorrexteam

Alexandra Day 4 Final Day
Hubby did a short bike trip in the afternoon & called by this cache.
A circular trip around the outskirts of town. Found some great caches, saw some amazing views over the surrounding countryside.
Todays weather was much cooler just perfect for caching.

Found by Mary & David at 1020. There's always time for one more cache before we head on homeward. Loved the walk, and Thomas is such a favourite for our small grandchildren. We are Really Useful Engines! Our thanks to Clever Monkey.
Our third day caching as the GOTHs, Geocachers of the Hills, made up by the following teams, Bushfire, Aussie M & M, mogni, Team Astro, brisal5 and 6hinemoa2. Our aim was to try to clear out caches in various spots and we had a special goal for good friend Lawrie, aka Bushfire, we wanted to bust his record of caches found in one day. This meant a desperate attempt on doing as many caches as we could on Mount Desperation, aiming to hit 200 in a day which is not my best day. So many power trails in SA do that for you. It was all about Lawrie today. Some interesting spots were found, got close to the river, and some amazing views. Thanks for the hides.
We wer exhausted after this day and half a night, had dinner at MacDonalds on the Hume Hwy somewhere in Victoria.... Only would do this for Lawrie. Thanks again, all cache owners.

A MEGA was being held this year in Alexandra, and what a fantastic event it proved to be. Fantastic location, great activities and some amazing caches all lead to an awesome weekend. This was one of the caches I found during my travels of the area over the weekend.
Thanks for the cache.

Another quick find on the way back to pack up our camp. Originally we searched the wrong side of the bridge before the quick find was made. TFTC
We continued the drive along the road, parked nearby and followed the old train line for 300m to the cache. Once there, the cache was quickly found.
Out and about at the Alexandra Event with the geo daughter and decided to grab a few of the town caches.
This was one of them.
Enjoyed the walk. TFTC

MEGA ROAD TRIP - Alexandra Mega 2017 that is. : Day 4: GOTHS go here, there almost everywhere. [8)]
GENERIC LOGS: With Literally Hundreds of caches found during our stay anything specific to this cache will be found near the start HERE: [8] [8] [8] Nothing here means it was found quickly, the cache had no issues and we moved on!
Another great Bridge. Another cache.
We had all come together for the Alexandra event at a lovely farmstay just outside the township. Mrs. Aussie M&M, Astro and I from Adelaide, mogni from Mt. Gambier, Bushfire from Geelong and 6hinemoa2 from Bachus Marsh. We would be filling up log books just putting our names in them so we searched for an anagram from our caching name initials. The best we could find was BATHMATs. [B)] Good grief. So we settled on GOTHS = Geocachers Of The HillS as we all lived on a hill of one type or another. [:o)] We didn't just 'turn up' and cache. Many months of planning and puzzle solving went on before we made our way over and so we had some target caches and series to have a go at. Today was the Fish GeoArt series - and anything else that was nearby in our travels. Once again the planning by the mega committee and to local cachers made our stay fantastic. [^][^]

Thursday 16th Meeting up with 2Hinemoa6 in Bacchus Marsh and then Aussie M & M and Brisal5 both from SA in Broadford the team is nearly complete. Mogni and Team Astro will meet us at our headquarters (Maybole Cottage) for the next few days.
Day 3 Saturday Our farm stay has everything required for a very pleasant few days.
Up early and ready for a long day caching we stopped at this cache as it was on our list, soon located, log signed so on to the next. To save space in the logs we logged as GOTHS or GOTHS + 2 as we all live in the hills.
With hundreds of caches to log most will be cut and paste but I do thank all the owners for their thought and effort that has gone into placing a huge variety of hides around this very beautiful area.

Found as part of my 2017 Alexandra Mega experience. This cache added to the fun and enjoyment of my trek to the east and back from Adelaide. While there were a few thunder storms, there were mainly clear skies and I never saw a snake!

TFTC. We are in Alexandra for the 2017 Mega event. We thought that we would get out and about to find some of the local caches before too many others arrived for the weekend. Most of these were relatively straight forward finds . We did run into a coup,e of other teams as we travelled the roads .
In Alexandra for the event and spent the day in and around the area with au fait. Some interesting caches in some lovely locations with the various scenery. Found quickly while admiring the river.

#13793. After unloading our belongings at our wonderful house with fabulous views we made our way back into town for a few caches whilst waiting for Feathertop and The Morris to arrive.
As we arrived at this one a solitary geocacher was making her way down the trail. Aaah, just the person we had been waiting for, Feathertop. We continued the walk, made the find, added our names to the log and continued on our way.

Travelled down to Alexandra with BettyBoo3747.
Stopped in at Violet Town to grab a couple of new caches, then did a few caches around Alexandra, rounding out the day with an event and two night caches.
Found Feathertop on our approach to this cache - I suspect this will be happening quite a bit at the Mega.
A nice bridge, we will come back to ride the trail when there are some more caches on it.
Thanks, Robmc.

A gorgeous morning for a short walk along the rail trail in search of a cache. Lots of farming activity taking place - a tractor mowing his paddock of grass hay, pickets being attached to a new gate entrance and magpies busily searching for tasty tidbits in the grass. Out placing some geocache today and even tho this was an easy and a fun find not far from home today was the day so jojobeenie and myself ventured along the trail to the GZ because as dusk was quickly approaching and we ended up having a romantic stroll by the light of a glowing iPhone on the way back the height of this bridge always takes me to a time when locals would most likely marvel as they left Alexandra or arrived it would have provided some amazing atmosphere back in the day when steam train was king and I always love that the tail trail provides so much joy to tourists still to this day I just wish the local shire would have it more prominent in the media as this would help our little
town immensely

Found on the way home to Alexandra, after placing a few new caches. This one has been taunting me for ages! It has just been one we haven't managed to get back to, for one reason or another and was in desperate NEED of a ! We decided that dusk was a SMART time to head out onto the rail trail .. thankfully iPhones were charged and torch apps were at the ready. It was decided quickly that geohubby Maximus1978 would have the task of finding the GZ, though the usual footwear hadn't been warn, so the cold winter night, had become a little slippery. After realising the Co-ords were a little off, the correction of direction was made and he was soon at the GZ. It has been a long time between cache finds, so though this one was on the easier scale, the feeling of excitement & accomplishment in holding that log in hand was great, almost like those when caching was just a new hobby. Lol hobby ... not anymore, it's certainly a lifestyle! We may have been quiet on the finding, but the hiding of caches - the ideas of what next have been keeping us busy. We are very much looking forward to the Mega event in November and hope there are many more caches to find out there soon!
