We have been contacted by DOC asking us to remove our Tiritiri caches from the website.
DOC will be replacing public placed caches with ones that they place themselves, so as to better manage caching on the island. Hope they manage to get better co-ords than on some previous DOC caches.
Hopefully the Travel Bug in the cache will be rescued when the physical cache is removed by the Ranger.

Found this cache before it was archived, but only just home from our holiday to NZ to log it.
We visited Tiritiri Matangi on our 2nd day of our NZ trip. Great place. Our friends managed to distract our guide momentarily so that we could grab this cache.

Woke up on Sunday earlier than usual and decided to go on a ferry ride to release some stress. Which one to pick, mmhh?? Tiritiri got the go with 10 unfound geocaches 
.
Enjoyed a great sunny day out on the water and around the island. The walk and watching the birds took my stress level quickly down and I was able to relax. Enjoyed watching the birds and signing the log at GZ. TFTC

It was stunning weather for a weekend on Tiri to take in the wildlife and pick up all the caches along the way. Having got all hot and sweaty at the Papakura Pa cache we were on our way to the beach for a swim and I made a slight detour to grab this and put my name on the log. Sadly the TB that is suppose to be in here was not there.
Was on Tiri celebrating my 9000th find, and had to walk and gather all the new caches since I was last here.
Found the path from Spagetti Junction down here, the last time I was on this track there were no feeders and very few birds, so it is nice to hear the trees alive with different bird calls. A group I had seen on Hobbs Beach were approaching from the other direction when I got to this cache, but they stopped just out of sight so I could make the find, signed and sat to listen and watch the birds until the groups had moved on (it turns out they would muggle me at almost every cache on this island) TFTC

We decided to visited Tiritiri Matangi during Conservation Week, it's been over 15 years since we last visited. The Island has really developed over that period. Highly recommended. We took over 200 photographs. Dropped off a beautiful geocoin which we have had for a while, thought someone else should have the pleasure.

This was our favourite track but as we approached the bench we were thinking it doesn't have the advantage it used to. But just then we spotted a pair of kokako. Kawerau has it's mojo back. NINO TFTC
My purpose this trip was mainly photography but couldn't leave the three caches put here since my last visit unfound. Nice quick find. never get tired of coming here
Our second find of a day of caching on this beautiful island. The birds and their calls are amazing not to mention some of the fascinating fauna. Probably wouldn't have made the trip out here if it weren't for these caches! Easy find! Tftc

Meet up with Kiwicouple on day of placement, they gave us the co-ordinates and sent us on our way, was waiting for the official first to finder to log. This track is a must every visit ,usually a bit quieter once the guided walkers have gone. A real treasure to wander slowly and quietly down to enjoy the surroundings, old man Pohutukawa is spectacular.
Meet up with Kiwicouple on day of placement, as we were staying overnight they gave us the co-ordinates and sent us on our way and now logging as its gone live and been found by another cacher.
It has been about 25 years since my last visit to Tiritiri Matangi when we used to visit regularly to assist with the tree planting project. Incredible to see the difference between then and now and it is almost unrecognisable. Had a fantastic day spent wandering around, listening to the bird life and spotting lots of different species. Visited here after taking some time at the pa and admiring the views. Many thanks for placing this cache and picked up the coin that was there on placement. Nice to get the FTF as well so thank you for the timely publication of this cache. Fav point from us.
