We have been contacted by DOC asking us to remove our Tiritiri caches from the website.
DOC will be replacing public placed caches with ones that they place themselves, so as to better manage caching on the island. Hope they manage to get better co-ords than on some previous DOC caches.

Had to wait for a few muggles to disappear before we could grab this one. Good find by dr. C. TFTC
Woke up on Sunday earlier than usual and decided to go on a ferry ride to release some stress. Which one to pick, mmhh?? Tiritiri got the go with 10 unfound geocaches .
Enjoyed a great sunny day out on the water and around the island. The walk and watching the birds took my stress level quickly down and I was able to relax. Was watched by a little birdy finding the geocache. TFTC

It was stunning weather for a weekend on Tiri to take in the wildlife and pick up all the caches along the way. After a swim at Hobbs Bay we were returning to the bunkhouse for dinner. The rest of the group walked up the road while I detoured through Wattle walk to find the cache. The bird life along here is just fabulous!
Oh dear, on the way to the boat again, after another marvelous visit to the island. Tftc
What a fantastic experience to come to this island with the family. So many bird songs, it was a perfect day, TFTC
Was on Tiri celebrating my 9000th find, and had to walk and gather all the new caches since I was last here.
Had plenty of time to make my way back to the ferry after my walk around the island, so took my time down the wattle track, a volunteer was showing some people some of the birds that used the bird baths so I stopped to watch, and a baby bellbird turned up and wasnt really sure what he was supposed to do with it, so it was funny watching. John the volunteer showed me some pictures of the Morepork he had seen not too far from where we were and I was to look out for it (I didnt see it) and I enjoyed the rest of my trip down the track. Nice quick find. TFTC

Time for one last cache before heading back for the ferry. The hardest part was retrieving the cache quickly before a muggle came down the walkway... as it was close to the ferry departure there were very few muggle free moments! However, after some stealth moves the cache was quickly retrieved, log singed and replaced! TFTC!
We decided to visited Tiritiri Matangi during Conservation Week, it's been over 15 years since we last visited. The Island has really developed over that period. Highly recommended. We took over 200 photographs.

This was one of the ones I had looked at on the map and was the way we walked back to the ferry after getting up close and personal to the light house.
Saw the seat and when I looked in the general direction happily spotted the cache.
SL TFTC have had a wonderful day, even if we got wet.

Our last find of a day of caching on this beautiful island. The birds and their calls are amazing not to mention some of the fascinating fauna. Probably wouldn't have made the trip out here if it weren't for these caches! Quickly had cache in hand! Tftc
Beautiful day out on the island.
Walk past it in the morning during the guided tour, but too many muggles around me.
Came back later in the day before returning back to the ferry.

1.50pm. Had to hurry as the ferry was running early due to the king tides and was in danger of running aground.

1.50pm quick find on way back to ferry. Great day and saw a takahe coming back down. Brought back memories of tree planting here 30 years ago. TFTC

TFTC. One of the many beautiful view from this jewel of an island. Thanks for pointing this one out. Should really be accessible without moving off the track though.
With regards to the comment by the previous cacher worried that the cache is hidden off-track: it is only a couple of meters from the track, and in an area that is kept clear of vegetation to allow a 'view window' from the seat back across the harbour to the city.
Easy find.... but a worry that it requires cachers to move off the official track. Regardless.... TFTC

Meet up with Kiwicouple on day of placement, they gave us the co-ordinates and sent us on our way, was waiting for the official first to finder to log. Proud to have played a small part in the planting of this track back in the early 80's. Such a special place.

This part of the island is absolutely beautiful and full of bird life. Had a friendly fantail follow me most of the way through wattle walk. Fantastic day spent on the island and would love to come back as a volunteer. TFTC
Very nice trip today toTirititi Matangi. Despite the bad weather, we decided to head north and pay a visit to this place. A nice guided tour under the rain with the discovery of several rare birds was followed by a pic nic and a some geocaching while heading back to the wharf. An unexpected (FTF) on this cache with a nice view. TFTC
