#4423 This section of bushland was a bit of a warm up for my later jaunt in Kowen. First find of the day and no problems at GZ. Soon continuing further into the reserve. TFTC.
I was in the area checking the track for our walking group to do on Sunday (30/08) and decided to grab the caches while I didn't have the group with me.
It wasn't where I expected it to be, but once I saw GZ it all makes sense. And thanks for the information about the mine - I didn't realise that was once there, although the area did have several. Further research needed, now! TFTC, Tankengine

Decided to head out early on my trip to the ACT to visit my kids and grandkids and take to long and easy way by picking up some caches along the way and use the time to clear my head and get some more fresh air. I was able to take my time and do this as normally my muggle missus would be with me, but she’s visiting one of our other kids and grandkids in another state!
Finally some downhill so I upped the pace to arrive here. I passed a junction in the track which tempted me to try the other two hides….but no, I have to keep moving, lunch is probably cold now. Eventually arrived at the area to spy an unusual structure with an impressive view! After spending a minute or two admiring the view, turned my attention to the task in hand. Wasn’t too long before the target was reached and log signed. Now back to what’s now a very mediocre lunch! 55 minutes and almost 4K with a nice hill! Great way to spend a lunch break!

What a top spot. Not too far to walk. Could have bought the bikes even.
Helped with the cache maintenance and to place a couple of new ones too. It was nice to get into this area as I have driven by so many times and didn’t even know you could walk so far in here. Tftc!!!

Found It!
The walk continues and another cache is found. I found this one on the ground in the open so put it back in the spot that matches the hint. Nice place for a walk.

A quick find on this very quiet bush track. Curious to learn more about what mine was nearby before it was restored.

Silvereyes and I took a cross country way through lovely bush to this cache passing a tumble down shed. Loved the cache with all the little compartments. Had planned to have lunch at the bench but just could not find it. Settled for a comfortable log instead. Thank you for the cache Tankengine.
Not sure if I'm going mad or not or if Bunyips have recently visited the area but we could find no sign of the much vaunted benches! Was looking forward to having our lunch here but were forced to keep walking until we found a suitable log - high enough for compromised knees - ha ha. What a nice area this is and thanks for bringing us here.
Found on the way back home after looking for caches near Captains Flat. A lovely stroll through the bush, and a tale of two benches. Thank you Tankengine.
There are two benches, or, should I say 1.5 benches, one of which I would use.
Nice view, some Cuckoo is calling, I just never know which one that is.

Journeying back from two weeks on the coast, it was time for a stroll after lunch in Bungendore. Haven't been to this remnant bushland before, so it was nice to walk and enjoy the serenity. Found the cache quite easily, and muggle hubby admired the compartmentalized container. Signed the log, and added a small treasure to an empty space. TFTC TankEngine
A late start for work today, so I ducked out this way to grab the two newer caches in the area that I hadn't found yet. A lovely walk in the bush, thanks TE.
On our way back from a quick weekend break at Araleun, Genghicat and I saw there were a couple caches we hadn't grabbed. It was freezing climbing this hill. There's been a couple cold fronts coming over and there's snow in the air. It was easy to find this Cache and seeing the sun hadn't quite set, decided to head for the other one nearby. We came across a shed that had fallen to make a tent like structure. Was interesting. Tftc
A good legstretch up the hill and the bench was sighted
The bench appears to be in pretty good nick,
possibly due to lack of use
Nearby the cache was found
Interesting container !!
What was its original purpose ??
Holding trout fishing flys ??

A very easy day walking in the beautiful Autumn sunshine as we are recovering from a few minor sporting injuries. Walked approx 12 km over 4 hours enjoying the picturesque bushland. Loved the walk along the ACT/NSW boundary in particular finding the reference tree engraved with 'CT' for Commonwealth Terrirory. We have been wanting to find this tree for some 8 years and today was the day. The tree is well over 100 years old so we sat down for lunch nearby and admired the much much larger trees around us second guessing their ages.
We also saw a train go by (much to our surprise) and then saw a beautiful ancient train tunnel near a 'modern' aqueduct, an old bee hive and lots of bees wax, wrestled a snake in the higher country with great views over Bungendore. Then dodged flying mountain bikers along some of the trails and saw an old sheep dunking structure - yep - another great day in Canberra's wild west, or is it East?
This cache was the first find of the day. It certain got us started and we decided not to take a seat but press on to the 'aqueduct'. TFTC Tankengine.

We arrived at the rest area to park and found three cars whose occupants had slept there overnight. Good on them. We walked a sort of a figure 9 circuit aiming to look for four caches. This was the first. TFTC
Following a Bungendore brunch (there's a TE title opportunity), geopartner, geohound and I stopped for a nice stroll through the reserve, collecting three caches.
This was the third. A quick stop at an obvious spot. Signed and re-hid. TFTC TE

Yep bush bashed all the way arrived at the gz to see a well formed trail doh..! Thanks fir the cache
We crossed through the bush and joined up with the other path from "Brooks Bushland" to access this cache. Soon came across the bench and after having a quick look at it and scratching our heads as it is an interesting location for it, we put our heads back down into our GPS and went over to GZ.
A quick find with a great hint, leading to another familiar container! Holding up very well once again and in great condition which is good to see!
Thanks Tankengine, after this cache we were feeling lazy and drove back down to the other entrance for a shorter walk to the last two caches Which actually worked really well mind you!

Mind you, there is a LOVELY PERFECTLY STABLE NEW bench near there, under shade too, on the trail there. On the way back from the aqueduct cache I just relaxed on the new brown bench, ahhhhh. Nice. Thanks TE.
The Omnia new year's party took place near Bungendore so I set off early and sought out five geocaches on the way. This one was a straightforward find, being in an obvious hiding spot, right on the coordinates. Thank you Tankengine for installing and maintaining this cache.
What a great view! No idea this place existed. You certainly get around Tankengine. Sat on the seat provided & admired the large wattle bursting into bloom. Unfortunately the snowy winds moved us on. TFTC Kutgw
Good to see the bench has been replaced, you can now sit and enjoy the view. TFTC
Thanks Tankengine for the cache. It was found in Good Condition
This find brings my total number of Finds to 3360.

Scanning the geocaching map for someone interesting for an outing, I spotted a back road running beside Lake George with some caches along it. I've long found the area around Lake George fascinating, but had never been along here, so the way forward was suddenly clear! Heading back towards home with some time up my sleeve a little stopover at Brooks Hill made a lot of sense - and made for a lovely little loop walk.
The last find of the day, and a very pleasant one at that. Nicely placed and hidden. TFTC

A pleasant, if chilly walk, in Brook's Hill Reserve to find this cache. That bench looked rather iffy. Found with Decrypter and Trodectus. TFTC Tankengine.
The bench does indeed look a bit iffy - I certainly wasn't game to try it out! The rehabilitation of this site is great - at a glance you wouldn't know it had ever been there. Nice view out over the valley from here too. Thanks, Tankengine
Nice quick find, following the tracks back from the aqueduct to the Brooks carpark. The Bench is in a little disrepair so wasn't keen to test it out!
Thanks for the cache and leading us here.

Another nice walk in this reserve on my way home from a cache run to Bungendore. No time to do the other one.
Thanks
Thanks
A great view of the Butmaroo range . I still can't quite figure out which one is Neds Tent though
Found after a coastal day-trip with Noikmeister and Takibi to take in Pigeon-house Mountain and a combined milestone. Starting to get dark and this is almost in my brother's back yard so I had to keep quiet in case they found out I wasn't visiting (no time!) Made it back to Canberra before curfew. A great day out.
found with BatGirlandCo and noikmeister on our way home from a joint milestone. batgirls brother lives close to here so we tried to be as sneeky as possible
Found at 5:54:00 PM with BatGirl and Takibi.
Final find for the day just after sunset from a caching trip down the coast for a joint milestone. This was the easiest of finds for the day after we bashed across from B52's
Thanks TE

Stopped by after going to Kowen Forest for a quick find. Views are quite good from here. TFTC.
Used to be a mine here hey? Now I will have to look it up.. never knew.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
This one caught my eye when it first came out because I assumed it would be connected with the tunnel a little way around where the railway line climbs from Bungendore up Brooks Bank. Anyway, we walked in and stopped for lunch and a thermos of coffee in this delightful piece of bushland. So peaceful, with only a small amount of noise from the highway, and beautiful views. The views are definitely better up the hill, so we left the bench alone. Thanks for a lovely little wander, Tankengine.

After competing in the ACT orienteering champs east of here, I cached my way home. I stopped at this reserve for an hour to wander around and find all the caches, finishing with this one. TFTC.

9348 + 1058 = 10406. A midday run for some out-lying caches....
Parked at a familiar Rest Spot and walked in for I think the third time through this area - although this is the furthest I've gone in. Some interesting relics along the way and then I was at GZ for the find. Just as well as the weather looked like it was about to break. Signed, returned the cache to its hideyhole, then rested for a moment on Brooks Bench before heading back to the car and picking up the kids for the post party high....
Thanks Tankengine ! As always an interesting spot !
TNLN - TFTC !!
Cheers....

3996. Found with Tanso during a nice walk after work. After ticking off the aqueduct, we headed to this one. A nice quick find, a handstand from Tanso to celebrate her 500th, a PT trade and we headed for the bench. A little bit wonky, but it did manage to support me while I had a spell and admired the great views.
Thanks TE for the fun and the cache.
Thanks TE for the fun and the cache.
We both actually had some time today and decided to get some exercise, enjoy the perfect conditions on this second day of Autumn, and of course attempt the new Tankengine double header...
We planned our route and headed off to this one first...easy walk along the gums following the trails and didn't take long before we arrived at the bench. Yep, this one definitely needs to be condemned! Made our way off the trail to GZ where a fully loaded cache was found, do love these ones (and so do the ants from memory) . Decided to swap out both pathtags for ours and mnjontours and replaced for the next finder. Had our names on the log at 1245 for a *FTF* .
Really enjoyed the walk and views, it really is never ending what you can find out here.
Thanks Tankengine, now off to the next interesting location

After finding the other new cache in the area, I drove down to this familiar rest area to head in for the cache. Found the bench......thought better of a quick rest......and wandered off towards GZ where the cache was soon found. Had a look around the area and then enjoyed an easy stroll back to the car......on what was a nice day to be out and about.
Thanks TE....enjoyed the walk.

Yes I got it number 500, all I wanted off boot65 was the log he gave me a path tag, then the log, I signed the log gave it back and done a hand stand!!
After that went to the seat and sat looking at the view, then it was back off the the car for home
Thanks tankengine
