Working locally and picking up some finds. Great spot on a really nice sunny day with cool breezes. This is my 1900th find and I always try to log something other than a traditional hide every 100 finds. Thanks for the interesting insight here. Answers sent. TFTC
TFTC and a beautiful place to come. The rock formations here are amazing with the tessellated platform. We had lunch at the jetty and it was so good, lemon some. Ill send the answers through when I get honey.

TFTC! Lovely place to wait for the ferry! Thanks for the info for the shelf.wouldnt take its pic without the knowledge
What a great spot to come and visit, let alone learn about tessellated pavements. I've done an earthcache about this topic before, in Tasmania. So surreal, finding geometric symmetry in nature. On a different day I was down below up ahead of here exploring up close. Calm day required for that adventure. Thank you so much for drawing our attention to what's over the edge here and the whys of it as well. An upside down photo with the anomaly and a great view, fortuitously covering any characteristics.
Sydney TripFound with Joolay on a drive to Sydney to find some special caches. It was so interesting today to explore Sydney South head and the famous cliffs of the Gap. Very interesting tesselated rocks here. Thanks for the hide *|owner_name||"
Enjoying a delightful day in warm Sydney. This area is just gorgeous. Kittykatch has sent answers for us both. Thanks for getting me out and about Ellie&Rudi Mentry
We'd heard Watsons Bay was lovely and were suitably impressed. What views! The weather had improved for us today too. TFTEC.
I loved this cache. What a location!!!! With so much going on I. The rock formations. Wow. And I learned a lot from your information. Thank you so much
Thank you for a fantastic earth-cache. Really enjoyed what I learned here. Hope the answers are right. Greetings from the cold North
This was an interesting location. There were a whole lot of other folks there at the time, but I was able to see what I needed to answer the questions. The answers have been sent to the CO. Thank you for the smiley and the fun!The day:I was visiting from the U.S. and had just completed my goal of driving all the way up the east coast starting in Melbourne and ending in Port Douglas over a few weeks. I arrived in Sydney four days ago as the last stop before heading home. I was sad that my adventure was coming to an end, but I was looking forward to exploring Sydney including Watson's Bay. At least 2 folks had recommended it. The sun was shining (finally!) which made the day that much better. Many thanks to all the geocachers who placed and continue to maintain their geocaches for folks like me to find. I know it's not always easy, but I do appreciate you.
Out at South Head for a Tunnel tour and afterwards, we ventured over to GZ. Took some time contemplating the fabulous view from here then collected the needed information in order to answer the earthcache questions. Answers have been sent to the CO - logging with permission. A great feature that I haven't seen in sedimentary rocks before, thanks for showing it! There was a swell coming in which made for some great spray, but also covered the platform. You can only imagine what it would be like in a storm!Answers sent, tftc
The Cockburn Crew are on tour at the Capital Geobash in Canberra - travelling from Perth to Sydney, Canberra, Sydney and finally back to Perth.Today was day 8. We completed a huge number of trails, challenges, whereigos, traditional, multis, earthcaches, labs, virtuals and puzzles. It really was a great day for variety. We enjoyed caching in territory we havent been before. Weve filled our boots with some rare DTs and DTTs and generally had a great time. Thanks to the COs for a great day and event. Logs signed as part of team WA/WAC (WA Crew)
Out and about again, headed around Canberra for the MEGA. Super excited my first MEGA and heading over with 2 others from the Cockburn Crew. Today is we are out with a group from Western Australia and signing the log as WAC to save time and log space. This is 15507, hoping to clock over the 15,000 finds in the week in New South Wales and ACT.Thanks to Ellie&Rudi Mentry for the caches we found.OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024Head over to Australian Capital Territory for Capital GeoBash MEGA - Canberras first ever Mega Event. Exciting times over the next couple of weeks as we takeoff for the Capital GeoBash in Canberra! Its going to be a flood of Sandgropers over east, with a host of West Aussies making the trek east for the event. Im travelling with fellow Cockburn Crew members Leg5 and Barnzy12, starting in Sydney and hitting the road to Canberra, before returning back to Sydney. Honourary mention to our fellow member, Cravo10, who couldnt make it after recently introducing a new geocacher to the world the week prior. Once in Canberra, the agenda is set, well team up with a host of Western Australians to conquer caches. Collectively, were hoping to make it the biggest ever weekend for cache finding. Following the event, the journey continues back to Sydney, with a mission to clean up caches and new Local Government Areas (LGAs), ensuring no cache is left unturned in this epic geocaching adventure. Something tells me that well need a holiday after this, well, holiday. All logs have been signed as WAC to save space, abbreviation for Western Australia Crew. Cheers Ellie&Rudi Mentry! What are amazing location for earth cash. Well, I should say this area has so many amazing locations. Thanks for setting this one up!
Stopped by this neat earthcache while in the area today! Pretty cool stuff. Thanks!
#17.599Today we went on a half-day city tour of Sydney. We had the opportunity to visit this EC briefly. Thanks for showing us around and for the information.TFTC
Im visiting for a few days from Brisbane while my husband is working down here and I came by ferry to Watsons Bay. Its such a great view from here. The tide was up and covering a lot of the rock platforms so I hope my answers are ok, which I have sent. Ive seen quite a few fantastic tessellated pavements including one of the most famous on the Tasman Peninsula near Port Arthur. Thanks for the interesting information and tftEC.
This morning my Contiki group went for a guided walking tour of the history of Sydney, then we had a great ferry ride across to Watsons Bay to visit the lookout before taking the bus to Bondi Beach where we spent the rest of the afternoon. It's been tricky trying to cache in a group especially since we didn't stay here long, but I took a lot of photos so I could get my answers together later on. I've sent them to the CO now, and unfortunately it would be a spoiler to put the photos here, so I have sent them direct to the CO This was a fascinating Earthcache, something quite different to the mostly volcano focused ones I'm used to. The description was informative and I think I was able to get a good understanding of how the tessellated rock formations came to be.Thank you for setting this up and kia ora from New Zealand (#2099)
What better day to visit the Watsons Bay than on Boxing Day! The start of the Sydney - Hobart Yacht Race, and a geocaching event to celebrate!Arrived nice and early to secure a parking spot and had an excellent breakfast / lunch. I don't usually rave about places but the "Watson's Bay Milk Bar" had one of the best coffees / burgers I have had in a while! Definitely recommend, it is run out of a small caravan permanently located on-site! Ran into tronador whils waiting for my food, so she joined me for a coffee & walk to the event. After the event I wandered slowly back towards the direction of my car and detoured past this Earthcache! It was actually quite busy here, and people were watching the yachts slowly disappear into the distance! They were slowly getting far enough away that we could only just see them! I was more focused on the geology here though, and managed to snap a few pics and write down some info! Thanks for placing this EC! Answers sent & pic attached
This one took quite a bit of thought from us. Answers sent. Hope we understand what we were looking at.
What do you do when you have a non-refundable flight credit to use before the end of the year and nowhere in particular that you need to go? You can always do as I did... fly into Sydney for the day and go geocaching! Of course, you probably want to pick a better day that I ended up with... what a stinker in was... 39... but I didn't know that when I booked my flights. Still, I made the best of it as I could... visiting Mascot, Maroubra Beach, Bondi Beach and Watsons Bay by bus, and then ferry into the Circular Quay and finally train back to the airport... making great use of the Opal card daily cap. In the process I had a great time, went to some places I had never been to before, did a couple "touristy things"... and found a few caches as well.A 380 bus from Bondi Beach brought me here with the intention of getting a ferry into Circular Quay... but not before finding some caches in the area. Before heading off to the ferry dock, I took a careful look over the edge to collect the necessary information for this Earth Cache. Thanks **Ellie&Rudi Mentry** for this cache... my answers will come soon.
After a drs. appt in the morning, seeing as how it was a much nicer day than the previous one, we decided to go for a ferry ride to have a famous fish and chips lunch. After lunch and a nice glass of Chardy we wandered off to find a few nearby caches. I have never seen The Gap before except on the TV and was blown away by the sheer magnitude of it. Logging with approval after sending off the answers. FP for a spectacular EC.
Observations made that need to be sent tom the CO. My first visit here was probably 60m years ago. I think on one occasion there was a car at the bottom. Obviously access routes have been changed.TFTC
Great place for an earth cache. Great to soak in the sea views. Will send answers when back using my laptop. TFTC
I spent a bit of time in the area this afternoon and stumbled on this cache. Interesting to see the gap that I’ve heard so much of over the years and to see the payment down at ocean level. Logged with permission. Thanks.
What a stunning day to be out here today. It is glorious. What a fabulous location to be just outside the heads of the harbour, and now to be looking at the Pacific Ocean. Very happy
spending a day caching at watsons bay and surrounds today. beautiful, serene spot.
Down in Sydney visiting my son and we came over here as there were too many people at Bondi. I have never been to Watsons Bay before , there is a lot of history as well as incredible views . My son had never heard of tessellated pavement so he learnt something as well as me . A really cool spot . Thanks for the earth cache
In Sydney town as part of our lap, finally catching up on logs, sorry to all the Co's who have had late answers and logs. WE really enjoyed this location, we love rocks and these did not disappoint!

What a year Sandyofthesea and I have had. We kitted out the Prado and took off from Perth, Western Australia at the start of April 2022 to travel more of Australia using geocaching as a guide to see the sights. We started with the Nullabour, Eyre and York Peninsulas, the Riverlands, visited family in Victoria and then back in SA it got cold. Flinders and the Oodnadatta Track was amazing and we finally warmed up in Dalhousie Springs. The Alice beckoned and then a change of plan and we ended up tackling the Tanami Track to the Kimberley and Bungles Bungles. Territory Day in Darwin was unhinged - please try and do it! The Gulf, the coast and the car breaker ‘Old Tele Track’ to the top of Cape York. This is a must but it’s not easy! Eventually made it to Brisbane to get some fixes to the car….. let’s see where we end up.
Ellie&Rudi Mentry, I found Geology Rocks Series (No.2) -WHAT LIES BENEATH? today. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.

We enjoyed a walk around the South Headland whilst caching. We always enjoy the challenge of Earthcaches which make us do some research and thinking which apparently is good for us seniors. As usual we learnt a few things. TFTEC Ellie&Rudi Mentry
Out exploring this beautiful landscape with my dad. Greetings from Vancouver, BC. TFTEC!
What a lovely place!! I did so loved it here because I am fascinated by such impressive cliffs and its making. Thanks for teaching us the making of the rockbed! I knew it should be harder than the layres above, but I did not thought it could be sandstone. This is very special! TftC
The photo is shortly before I started hearing thunder and decided to abandon the plan to head up to the lighthouse virtual. By the time I got back to the ferry stop, the heavens had opened so hard that even the locals were taking photos!
Still glad I came, but the lighthouse will have to wait for a return visit, as today is my final day in Sydney. I’ll be back, thats for certain. A truly wonderful city. TFTC

Had to drop some family at the airport so took the opportunity to do a few caches in the Eastern Suburbs after the formalities. Spent most of the day dodging rain showers, but found some great caches.

Beautiful cooler day for a walk to south head and grab this earth cache on the way. Very clear to see the wave action and a magnificent view in all directions. Thanks for placing this one.
After the event in Centennial Park I joined up with Its Dozzie and Brewmaker for the World Wide Cache along south head. Once that was done Dozzi and I decidede to go for some more caches up here as we don't get here too often. Turned out we need almost ecaxtly the same cache. A great walk around the area to find a number of them with only one DNF before we parted ways and I slowly made may way back south collecting some more newer caches that had come out this way.
Dozzi had found this one but I took the oportunity when walking right past here for some picture and to answer the questions. A great location for an EC.
Thank you Ellie&Rudi Mentry.

Got a bit late and couldn’t see it. Didn’t stick around as there’s lots of CCTV.
This was a fun one as I had found a similar one in Tasmania two years ago, although the tessellations were way smaller! Nearby was the shipwreck Dunbar marker.
I’m too short but saw what I needed to and got around the side of the lookout to get a much better view. Yep a zoom with the camera made it easier.
I came here today to do a few of the south head area as I’ve dedicated the Easter break to doing local caches taking advantage of the beautiful not too hot autumn weather and appreciating what’s in my own back yard. I’d been saving this area for a weekend like this. Not in a hurry to do all of the caches but I managed to grab a few today, mainly parking the car and then doing medium sized loops to get my steps in. A really nice part of the world.

Attended Watson Bay and the cliffs overlooking south head and the Pacific Ocean - quite amazing to see this location, which we have seen most years at Boxing Day, watching the Sydney to Hobart racing yachts sail through the heads. We have submitted answers to the CO. Didn’t mention the green child’s bicycle that someone had thrown over the fence (some people have no sense and feel it is ok to litter, small or large) but hope that we have the right answers for the geology. TFTC
I often find Earth caches difficult but this one came with a pleasant view!
Sorry our rock knowledge is not very good. But cool spot. Interesting erosion. And great views. TFTC (answers sent to CO)
Awesome location to lookout over the water towards NZ, the info was collected.
With a few days of not much going on in Adelaide, I was deciding what to do for the next few days. For some reason Sydney seemed like a good choice and within 6hours I was off and away. With a last minute decision came a last minute plan of what I was going to go and find and as usual it changed but still got most of what I came for. A few DT fill-ins for my next loop, high favourites and JASMAR caches I was yet to find including the oldest in Aus: Lane Cove. Day 1: I arrived in Sydney late in the evening and had booked to stay at the rocks, I got off the train at an early stop and collected a few caches in the city along my path and a few lab caches. Day 2 I was up nice and early and went for nice run along the foreshore collecting some cache from the opera house to Walsh bay, I then headed over to manly and a nice walk around the area before picking up the free hirer car collecting a few caches on my way to lane cove. I later headed north to central coast to 2 Multis I was keen to tick off before arriving back in the city suburbs for the evening. I continued driving around the suburbs collecting LGAs and that continued on for day 3 before going to Bondi for some nice walks along the rock faces and the beach. As I had to drop the car back at lunch time I headed back into the city for the afternoon to collect the rest of the caches I had missed that were possible in the time I had left.
A total of 86 finds and 37 adventure labs for the trip.
Thanks for the cache

Always nice to visit this area on a cloudy midweek day. Not a muggle in sight. I enjoyed walking up the path to a higher level to get a good view of the tessellated pavement below.
Thanks for some interesting geology. Been here many times before. No spoiler photos but I do have a great one of the tessellated pavement, so here are a few photos of my walk around the bay instead.

OCW aubeasty on a gorgeous spring day. It’s been great to finally visit this part of Sydney and see the magnificent views.
I’ve been to the top section here but not walked the whole path so it was good to piece it all together. It can be such a sad place but it’s nice to find the beauty here too.

I have worked close by on and off for years, and have only just got around to logging this cache. Thanks for the cache!

Have been to Watson’s Bay several times, but had not visited The Gap. Enjoyed the walk right along here to South Head to Hornsby Lighthouse with some of the family.
Great to have an earthcache here. Answers sent.

Visited and will send answers. Home in BC and answers have been sent. This is quite the year!
Thank you for pointing out the interesting shelf feature at this location! I would guess most people gaze out over the ocean or at the cliffs themselves, completely overlooking the geology at their feet.
I visited on a very rainy, blustery day. I was able to pick up a few caches in the area but I did not get all the way out to the tip of the head at the entrance to the harbor. I hope to return someday.

It's that time of the week again to head off to the ABC for the taping of *Whovians*, but headed out early for some caching goodness.
Thought I'd clean out some of the new caches around Watson's Bay and pick up something else cache related while I was there.
Some kookaburras were laughing as I walked a few hundred metres from where I'd managed to find a parking spot to my first target. Hopefully it's a good omen and not a critique of my cache finding ability.
Found four before heading back to the city.
###END OF CUT AND PLACE SECTION###
Grabbed the information required for this one while on the way to the nearby traditional.
A spectacular spot, and a few places to get a great view of it. Which I did.
Like at the wharf, plenty of tourists also taking in the view.
Will send my answers to the required questions shortly.

Back in Straya on a business trip and, of course, again hunting for a few caches.
Today, we (Die_Flauschis, me and 3 muggles) had a day off and used it for experiencing all the beautiful landscapes and the lifestyle of the people here. It was quite hot - above 40°C for most of the day - but we still walked a lot of kilometres and visited a few beaches and nice places along the way.
We took the ferry to Watson bay and started up North to the lighthouse. After the roundtrip, we went due south along the coast till we nearly reached bondi beach. On the way there, we visited a few caches - the highlight was "The final cut" for sure. The last few hundred metres, we took the bus to Bondi, took a swim there, grabbed something to eat and then walked on to Tamarama Beach. From there, we took the bus to coogee beach for another drink and then, at the end of the day, we took the bus back to the hotel at darling harbour. All in all, we walked 33.000 steps, found a few caches, saw beautiful places and had a lot of fun. Thanks to all the cache owners for showing us a few nice places along the way.
On our walk, we also visited this EC and I tried to find all the answers. I then took a few pictures, to find out the rest, that I needed to answer everything. Very nice place!
