A quick snack spot (very tidy hut) while tramping mate changed out of wet clothes. Missed cache on first inspection but turned out to be the classic case of it's where you first look for something. TFTC and it's replacement.
Found the replacement cache while stopped here for a snack. Co-ordinates a bit out, but hint all good.
Day # 6 of my Stewart island..doing the northwest and the southern circuit..hopefully..
Had a great start to the day seeing my first kiwi up close at Yankees river before leaving..
5 years since its last find , I assumed the position and came up empty ..not many places it could be with a very specific hint. So searched the hut for a replacement and came up with something slightly salty that I jammed in place..I'm guessing the original should have been on the empty nail??....hope the replacement is ok with the co would be a shame to let this one go missing..awesome stretch of beach..deserves a fav

Having a nice and relaxed lunch at Smoky Beach, that was the plan. Of course, the freaking sandflies had other plans and wanted to have me as lunch... so it was only a short visit. Left my backpack at the signpost and saw a little lizard. Went to the hut and retrieved the cache while munching on some nuts. Then it was over the river and on towards Long Harry Hut.
Thanks a lot for the hide, jwingill!
Thanks a lot for the hide, jwingill!
Found it with "FrenchSuperTrampNiko" on our hiking on Stewart Island.... Bonus round after Te Arora trail
TFTC!
TFTC!
Found this on day 3 of the NWC. Walked past this hut as we didn't want to get our feet wet in the river so elected to take the high tide route. My advice is to get your feet wet as the alternate route adds a bit of time and hill climbing to the journey! TFTC.
#666 and 5/13 on the island and second to find! Found with JimmyNZ on day 4 of our 14 day tramp of the NW/S circuits around the Island. JimmyNZ was nimble with his back and found it easy enough. Following the find, we engaged in a tuna sandwich, made from the leftovers from a previous hunters group, and it was amazing! Thanks for putting a cache in a remote corner of the island.
5th of 13 caches to do on the Island while we are here. Easy find, great location for sandy flies, you have to love those little buggers. Gutted we weren't the 1TF but will settle for 2TF. Out for a stroll with Greenslime.
