Thanks Phronimos for placing this cache for all to enjoy. We loved the birdlife around the lake especially the super cute robin's, fantails and Saddleback! Awesome Kahikatea here! Looking forward to returning in summer! TNLNSL, replaced as found, TFTC
Found by kneeling on the walkway. Eyes don't see too well upside down, confused my brain.
Apologies for the late logging. We enjoyed a few days visiting this lovely reserve. The cache was quickly found thanks to previous logs, and all ok here. TFTC Phronimos.
**S 39 26.811 E 174 24.990**#14,781. Enjoyed the very pleasant walk in Rawhitiroa. The GZ was all quiet at the time of our visit. Relatively quick find, although the GPS was still pointing to some 12 metres away. The cache was in good condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.*Thanks for the geocache placement, and for bringing us to this site, and *.T h a n k s. .f o r. .t h e. .c a c h e.**.M a u r u u r u. .k o e. .n u i. .a t u. .h o k i. .t e. .k e t e r o k i.*

Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit we are currently parked up at the NZMCA Park in Hawera decided wed go for a drive out to the Rotokare Scenic Reserve & pick up the DoC Kiwi Guardian we had decided that we would walk the Ridge Loop Track & see what we could find in the way of caches impressed with the birdlife, seeing Pukekos, Fantails, NI Robins, Tuis & Saddlebacks we have never seen Saddlebacks in the wild before & there were groups of them in two or three places around the track this cache was easily found, log-book completed & safely returned pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #4,413 for us!
Another little geocaching trip north with woolwood9.
We couldn't resist many stops on the way!
SL *tm/ww NZ*
Really appreciate the effort put into this cache Trail.
*Thank you for adding to our enjoyment!*
*Arrived here after dark and pleased as if we had seen how many steps there were we probably wouldn't have walked it!
However we completed the loop walk although closer to 4 hours for us oldies as was: completely dark, many of the hides were very difficult to locate as not visited often and the track in places was very wet, muddy and slippery.*
We let ourselves down by not taking some fresh logsheets with us as some were quite wet.
Overall though we had a great time, obviously saw no-one the entire time but woolwood9 saw a Kiwi - I missed it and only heard movement through the scrub.

Heading off for a long weekend to New Plymouth with tmann421.
Had to stop and pick up some of the newer caches we didn't have on the way.
All logs signed tm/ww NZ
Thanks to the cache owners, without their efforts this game would not be possible.

Found eventually, cache hint put me off initially, found with help from a previous log comment. Thanks for the cache, added a couple of things.
Took a bit more searching than we should have but eventually spotted by MSPPhoenix. More birdsong enjoyed while we hunted. TFTC
Pleased to see no need to stand off the boardwalk for this, this beautiful giant needs protecting! Cache a little damp but log easily writeable. Tftc!
Beautiful Sunday for a stop en-route to New Plymouth. Our first time here - very impressed. Families making best use of the water fun. Unfortunately families also around one of the cache sites, so we had to leave it. This one we had to ourselves. Easy find. Impressive tree. Cache is all good. TFTC
Had a quick look but wet and muddy after the storm. Leave for next time when ridge track open.
Going for a walk around the lake today. Go_Zz and hubby had left Soso and I behind.
Saw lots of native birds, North Island Robin kept us company most of the way. Also saw Saddleback and Hihi.
Soso found this cache. TFTC

Drove to this reserve to meet up with some friends. What a wonderful spot. The walkway and views over the lake were great. The bird life is amazing. First time I have seen saddleback birds on the mainland. Five of them just flew around near to us for several minutes. Cache and log all fine. Impressive tree. Thanks for showing us this place.
Decided to spend the day doing the Lake Rotokare walk and a bit of cache collecting. Got a bit muddy chasing this one but a very enjoyable wander. Thanks.

What a fantastic reserve. I probably would not have noticed it if there were no caches, so thanks for that
Jogged one and a half laps of the lake, then stopped here before walking the Ridge track.

Last one for our day on the loop track around Rotokare reserve. Nice big one and I am glad we did not have to get to close to it.
Found at 12:09.
Our second trip to New Zealand. This time we explore the North Island for 3 weeks. This was one cache we found.
Thank you for placing and maintaining this cache Phronimos

So glad to turn this blue face to a yellow one! Was hoping to get some other nearby caches, but a sprained ankle has put paid to that, so just easy walks for now. (10 points to the lady I saw trying to push a pushchair through here - shes more of a woman than me!) Quick and easy find this time. TFTC
We finally reached the final cache on the track today, and was glad of an excuse to rest the weary feet.
The GPS and the title had us looking in the wrong place but commonsense prevailed and the cache was soon located.
We left a pet rock - a monkey.
Thanks for putting this here Phronimos. Now back to the car!

After doing the Ridge Track great to walk on even ground great stop for a break here many thanks.
Picked up a travel bug in Inglewood earlier today and was Hoping to drop it off at the lake.
Have just finished the ridge walk and finding the containers all a bit on the small side it was good to come across this one with a big enough container to be viable.
Reached into my pocket and would you believe it, car keys yes, but travel bug no, I left the bug in the car!
Still a good day out and in the end there was another viable cache just ten minutes from the car park

When I reached the lake track I noticed that I had enough time to go for this one before I would get locked in by the rangers.
The cache was in the third place I checked at which I was very thankful as both of the knees of my longs were wet from kneeling down looking for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.

It took us a wee while to find this cache, after initially looking in the wrong place. The cache we found was a 500 ml container. An impressive tree. TFTC
Out and about with suparr2 and dropped off TB community volunteer as here is a fitting project
Really pleasant walk, with a few caches on the way - this is my first around the lake. Great tree and a very handy hint! Thanks, Phronimos.
Despite my very best efforts, this was a DNF. Hunted high and low, but after 30 mins the kids started complaining, so it was time to go. Only our first couple of weeks geocaching, so maybe not thinking like a geonut yet I will be back! Great walk though!
We were out and about on the new toy, and had headed down this way with the idea of picking up the Eltham caches then going over to the nearby lake and doing those as well. This was stop number four and the third for my wife, despite her being without glasses because of a lens falling out at the previous cache. I let her have this one, as I was wearing my riding gear and didn't fancy getting it muddy.
There were a large number of cars in the car park, so we had parked nearer the information booth and walked widdershins to get to ground zero. We were planning on doing the perimeter fence as well, but on returning to the Spyder the sole of one of her riding boots came off.
Thanks for the cache.

Visiting my muggle friend in NP again and we had already decided we wanted to walk around the lake, so after a bit of research I wanted to walk the ridge line, so glad we did was a lovely walk up and around with great views. Thanks so much for the wee stops along the way, and for hiding caches.
Very wet and muddy this part of the walk, but as much as we tried, one half of 2 bulbars and myself could not find it, on returning to the car park, we were informed, we got it wrong, lol, oh well, a good excuse to go for a walk around here again, so peaceful, but might go summer time
Was down in Wellington for a few days, and decided that I'd make an extra long weekend of it and transfer a rental car back to Auckland and cache along the way. Unfortunately for the rental agency that ment nearly tripling the km's they thought I'd put on it!
With the rental car company only giving me 48 hours to get the car to Auckland a little bit of planing was needed to maximise what I wanted to accomplish, and with only a few DNF's it turned out to be a very successful trip. So a big thanks to everyone who had placed caches along the way, and for showing me some great sight's along the way.
Day 2: Wanganui to Hawera and home via the Forgotten Highway.
Very enjoyable run/walk around the lake, as time was getting on so only had limited time to get around the lake. All good here, thanks for the hide.

Many thanks

Spending the day tidying up Taranaki caches which I am yet to find, plus a maintenance run on some of my caches including this one. Pleased to find cache is where I placed it, all dry and everything in order. For those who think the 4.6km round trip might be a bit tough, please note it is only 1.9km from Western track end so only 3.8km in and out! The track is a bit muddy in places, but otherwise all good
A great day to walk around the lake. School holidays and lots of kids there, great to see. Thanks for the hint the GPS was all over the place. Track was dry we waited for the sunshine. TFTC
A pleasant walk along a soggy track after recent rain. A little bit wet to retrieve it but a nice hide and an impressive tree. Some others on the track during the circuit of the lake. tftc Phronimos.
Combining work with play took the time to have a pleasant stroll around the lake good to see muggles out and about enjoying this. Took woody out for a flight TFTC and a chance to unwind.
A nice walk around the loop track to get this one. It's a shame there is so many coloured ribbons and various other markers along along the route showing the way to pest control devices. There seems to be more and more each time I go around this track. Surely in this time and age these could be marked using GPS and thus do away with all the unsightly ribbons etc and keep our tracks more pristine. Dropped off Woody Woodpecker TB I though it might like to visit a different type of forest. Only hope He or She does't start breading or DOC might have something to say, Ha Ha. SL TFTC
{FTF} FTF!!!!!!!!! Yay epic find for my first first to find. Meant i missed a meeting but thats ok:). What an amazing tree and walk. I was on an absolute mission to get this one, I noticed it was published earlier today but couldn't get there straight away. I kept checking the logs to see if it had been found so made my way out there. Absolute elation when I found the cache and saw there was no other names on the sheet.
