With Vistra in Nelson for a few days. Tonight, Vistra hosted an event at the nearby Speights Ale House. At the end of the evening, the group went out to find this cache. Many heads were definitely better than one! Tftc
I was hosting an event at the nearby Speights Ale House, and at the end of the event a group went out to find this cache, so I tagged along for the find in the fading light. TTFC!
Had a quick look for the final between rain showers this morning, before messaging a friend for a hint to the hide. I'd been close but following their reply, I came back and found the cache about about a meter or so closer towards the road from where I'd first been looking. Bit of debris and natural camo since it was last found, but all good here, TFTC
I needed a pretty good hint from a PF to be able to solve the puzzle. I guess I am just flower impaired. When I went to GZ to find the cache, I didn't find it. I guess I am also finding impaired.I got great hint for the cache location from the CO and eventually got back to GZ to find the cache. TFTC.
I love finding geocaches while on the E bike with JDScout. It's school holidays so I don't have work. That's why I can cache any day of this week. I have finally found this solved puzzle. Third time lucky
Today we had a drive round the area, did some walking and picked up a few caches as we went.Solved at home and parked right at GZ but of a search but this was eventually found Signed logs didn't match online ones ??TFTCTim and Viv - ddm
Needed a hint for the puzzle and one for the find. Never heard of the flower to number link before but you're never too old to learn. For the find, there were just too many options but after a tip from a previous finder we quickly spotted the little container, tftc!
Well this cache has been interesting. I must have been here 3 or 4 times previously in the quest to find it. Returning from another cache today we stopped by again knowing there had been a recent find. Within a couple of minutes I had the log with no help so was pleased about that. But it turns out I had found the container the CO missed and had replaced with another. See pic of log entries. I then kept looking for the newer one but had no luck. This is a tricky spot! Good luck those who follow. TFTC and puzzle.
4 of the last 5 visits are DNFs, but a while back I had a chat with the one of those that wasn’t and got a bit of a heads up.
Like others, I have been here many times with no luck. That is when it is relatively quiet. Other times I have driven past and known better not to bother.
Tonight it was dark and empty, and I had a hint as to the type of hide.
It’s not the easiest of finds, but it was quick tonight.
I can’t remember much of the puzzle, except that it perhaps was not as simple as it looks at first glance.
It was solved many years ago.
Nice to tick this one off finally, TFTC Holymu.

No luck today.
We have been here a couple of times. No doubt we will be back.
Next time.......

Today was another day for a buzz over the hill (as I had done earlier in the week) on bumblebee to collect some of the 1/2 century of puzzles I solved over the 2021 lockdown. I had an ambitious list of 26 compiled earlier but only got to 10 of them. Today I got another 4. This was the second. After a quick stop here before lunch and being thwarted by some muggles coming back to their steed meant I would have to call back later. Over lunch I managed to get a message to, and a reply from, the CO to save my searching. Upon returning to GZ, it was a 30 second (or less) successful search. As for the puzzle, sadly I prefer low maintenance or food bearing gardens.
I had a pretty good look behind, around the foliage and wall. It seems to be a bit of a hangout, and I wasn't too keen on rummaging in the detritus of whatever goes on there now. Maybe a hint about whether it's above GL eould help
I logged a find on this with permission from the Cache Owner a couple of months ago. Since then I see the cache has been replaced. I thought it would be good to actually sign the log, which I did while passing today. TFTC (again)
Logging a find with the permission of the CO. After multiple visits looking, and not being exactly sure when I'll be back in Nelson again, Ive decided to take up their offer to turn the sad face into a happy one. Cheers and TFTC
This has sort of become my Nelson nemesis cache. Today was my third maybe fourth visit without any luck. Sometimes it’s been too busy, but wasn’t the case today it’s was blissfully quiet. After that many tries it’s probably time to log a DNF
Due to NZ being at Alert level 4 and some people insisting on continuing to geocache and put others at risk I am disabling my caches until such time as it's safe to resume this activity.
Any logs I receive for finds during this time will be deleted. I don't care anymore about YOUR safety than you obviously do but I do care very much about others and want them to be safe so please do NOT look for any of my caches while they are disabled.
In the meantime, there's always plenty of puzzles to be solved or created but above all PLEASE STAY SAFE EVERYONE!

This one took ages for us. Andy worked out the puzzle and got some final co-ords ok. Headed to GZ to grab but although we looked high and low the cache still eluded us. Contacted a previous finder and while waiting for a reply, wandered off and grabbed another nearby cache that hadn't been found in a while. Got a reply with a hazy hint on way back to car, so checked where we had been looking again and there it was. Decided that as we had our cache for the day we would leave for another day. Andy headed in to grab twice after work and both times was thwarted by freedom campers, so we decided a mid day visit was probably better. I headed in today, and guess what, a freedom camper was parked nearby. I sat there for about 5 mins before they headed off and I could make the grab. Even then the cache eluded me for a while again but finally grabbed it and signed our initials on the log. Another one ticked off, tftc
Geeps! Was is really almost three years ago that I was one of the first to find they ended up with a set of coordinates that would result in wet feet!
In that time I had looked and relooked at this puzzle many times without really being able to germinate the seeds of a solution.
Out of frustration I sought the advice of a previous finder who suggested some places I might look to find a solution. Kind of obvious really; don't know why I didn't think of that sooner, but ain't that always the way.
Off for the find a few weeks back, but ended up barking up the wrong tree, so to speak. Having seen the chequered history of this placement I approached the CO for some confirmation. She told me where to go, in the nicest possible way you understand, so making a early morning visit today seemed an good idea.
A camper van was parked nearby, but so signs of life meant I was able to duck in and take a poke around. Spotted straightaway; don't know how I missed it before.
Thanks - another puzzle to put down to experience.

It looks like this cache has gone 'walkabout' again, disappointing. I am disabling it while I ponder it's future.
Not sure why the CO thinks the hint would work better than the GPS. For me and TaybeeDragon, both failed equally well. The cache size was not specified, so we assumed it is a micro (Nelson people seem to use "unknown" to mean "micro" - I have no idea why they do that). If the cache was larger we would have missed it anyway, as we were not looking for anything bigger. There could have been a 20L bucket there, for all I know.
Will be back next weekend, will try again then.

The CO confirmed we were looking at the right place, and confirmed the cache was missing. Bummer . And then granted us a smiley - I must admit we spent quite tsome time there. Thanks very much, Holymu.
The Seagnoid has finding his solved puzzles and an odd multi on the radar for the weekend - in Nelson. Yes!! Zara and I arrived on Thursday, with The Seagnoid and Toby completing the team Friday night. With the multi out of the way its on to puzzles thanks to The Seagnoid solving abilities and thanks to the COs for the extra mind boggling effort.
Stopped off here. Are these things stable?? Some have a lean to them. We hunted and hunted but things can easily get lost in these things. Gave up on this in the end - lets get onto something we can find!
Thanks to the CO for allowing us to log this as it had indeed gone so we were looking for the invisible. Cheers

Yeah - at last! Standing back from the puzzle and from the hide, lots of head-scratching then finally - it was all so simple in the end! Thanks holymu.
We enjoyed solving this mystery puzzle! I too, much prefer the old fashioned type of garden with lots of different perennials blooming at various times throughout the season! We've been back to our solved coordinates location three times to try and find this cache! To no avail! Though we found what we thought could be part of the Cache. The owner has kindly offered us to log this cache, as it seems to have gone missing, and we did find a part of it! Thanks.
Yay a puzzle I could solve and a cache I could find - I have been having a bit of a run of not being able to find what I am looking for lately (and I liked the container) tftc
As much as we do love and appreciate many of the older varieties of flowering garden plants, we are planning our next garden around natives and grasses and, especially, low maintenance. More time for caching that way
We just solved this puzzle last night and added it to the list for today. A nice spot at GZ, and no problems making the find. Thanks.

Was with Sir Belac when I found this and paddle chick helped us out. She is helping me out with some challenges and realised i hadnt logged it as found. Sorry for the late log. Thanks for the cache holymu
We enjoyed this puzzle cache which we completed in the summer in Greece. Now over to collect our smiley so headed to GZ today. First I found a key ring and a key - took these to the light shop for safekeeping. Then we found the cache. Thank you Holymu for the puzzle and the cache. We did like the container too.

Solved this puzzle a long time past and finally got around to making the find on the way home from work in the semi dark. Just as I was leaving the location a muggle walked by and eyed me very suspiciously. Nothing said so hope I haven't compromised the location. Thanks for the puzzle and cache.
I love flowers too - and the more perfume the better. Still the other has its place too. No worries with the puzzle or the find which makes a pleasant change. TFTC #6341
I had a go at this puzzle the day it was published. Well. That didn't work! - - - High time I went back for another look. Much more success this time!! Dropped by to pick up the cache this morning. Not many flowers blooming at GZ at the moment - - - then it is the wrong time of the year I guess. Thanks for the puzzle and the hide .
Solved with the help of a hint from the CO and then saved as an emergency cache. After a DNF for my planned calendar day cache I had to find one on the way home from mum and dad's at 11.25 pm. Took a few minutes to spot it. TFTC

A puzzle I solved a few weeks ago without too much difficulty and a gz that I drive past every day. I expected the find to be problematic because it's a busy place but the lunch time grab proved straight forward thanks to the choice of hiding spot. I was invisible to the passing muggles as I signed the log which provided some additional fun. Nicely done.
Thanks holymu for the cache.

Solved this one some time ago and today seemed the right time to park up at GZ and find the cache. All quiet on a Easter Sunday morning. Took a little bit of hunting but eventually there it was, right in front of my eyes!! Thanks holymu!!
A trip back home to the North Island this weekend for Easter with the family, and a few jobs on the section and garden that need some attention. A mid-day flight was booked ages ago and with daylight saving on its way this weekend the chance to find some caches before departing proved to be just the thing. On the road before 7 this morning, and a fair bit of fog slowing the trip from Blenheim but got to 'town' at a decent time and managed 16 caches before the flight including knocking off 5 pervious solved puzzles.
Needed a pointer to help solve the cache, I also fell into the 'trap' and all went well until one sum failed. Thanks for the pointer and the cache was soon located after I picked the proper feature. Noticed something out of place and there was the cache.

Yesterday morning the nearest unfound solved puzzle cache was both 63km away (as the crow flies so further really) and also disabled. So the souvenir was 'nice to have had but not going to happen'. Then this cache was published and the coordinates found quickly - we never did find the wet set. The choice was a potential FTF or a souvenir - and the souvenir won. We were able to confirm the likely spot last evening as we were going to be near by. So today it was a park in a convenient spot (already confirmed but the GPS did read 2m from the car) and grab the nicely hinted cache. In the meantime a cache option 28kmaway also appeared - which will wait for a trip to Motueka at our leisure.
Thanks to the CO for cache, the type and the timing.
We tend to have a garden that is easy care - but are also lucky that others have the more colourful type, with many of the mentioned flowers, nearby.

Took me 3 visits to gz, but that was mostly because of my adding up, rather than muggles! Quick find in a logical place, once I put the right numbers into the gps. Mr and Mrs No13 arrived while I was signing the log, so good to have a catch up. Good one, thanks.
managed to solve the puzzle
flowers are not my thing (Allergies) but I do appreciate other peoples flower gardens.
nice easy find
thank you holymu for the cache, hide and puzzle

#9234. We were running a little early for the Pi Day event, so stopped off so I could find this cache (Troodles had found it yesterday while streaking). We got to GZ just after 9, which proved to be a good time. With some prompting from Troodles, it didn't take long to spot the nicely hidden cache. TFTC.
Grr [:(!] too many muggles too close to GZ to search without compromising the cache [:(!] I'll be back
FTF Nice one! Like a couple of other cachers I tried one method to solve this puzzle that came up with a most unlikely solution. After a bit more thought and research an alternative source of inspiration was discovered and a much more likely hiding place revealed. The next challenge was to actually find the cache and avoid muggles. This took three visits until the coast was sufficiently clear. Even then it took quite a while to locate the very well hidden cache. Very relieved to finally spot it. Thanks for the fun and TFTC, Biggles.
Hmm. One of these "What is the CO thinking" puzzles. Ran out of "dry" ideas and my Googling wasn't on the right path either. Got a nudge to find out that I am a Rose .... Love and Appreciation... so I am told!!!! Maybe not. I give most of my gardening time to mowing grass, weeding and nurturing the Rhododendrons, not very successfully.
Solved on the fly while I was coming home from town and followed Troodles into the GZ where she did all the searching, made the find and handed me the paperwork to complete. My kind of caching ... being lazy
Thankfully I have a Pie lined up for tomorrow otherwise this may have had to wait for a day.

I already had my cache of the day in mind when this puzzle was published this morning. Hmmm, what to do? Try for an FDF or go with my original plan (which would be better in dry weather like today)....
FDF won, but the solve was not as straight forward as first thought as I fell into the trap set by the CO (surely it wasn't a co-incidence the way the South co-ordinates looked so good?) and had to try another method of solving. After a little googling, I stumbled across something interesting and soon had some good looking co-ordinates. Ok, maybe not quite good looking as I wanted to get the cache on my way home from work (which was about 3pm today) and I was apprehensive about how busy GZ would be at that time.
It turned out that I needn't have worried as all was quiet when I arrived. Was walking towards GZ when a car pulled up nearby and the driver yelled out to me "it's the other one!"- it was Marchwood. Anyway, I went to my GZ and Marchwood to his, but soon he joined me to search . I may have been lucky, because the cache was in hand just as I was uttering "this cache could be anywhere!".
Thanks for the interesting puzzle, holymu, I too love old fashioned flowers and I learned something new today. And thanks for day #318 of my streak.
