Filling in time before a wine tour my wife and I came for a quick walk to pay our penance. We hadn’t broken any biblical laws, we just knew we had to put in some token effort before drinking wine all afternoon.
A quick stroll up a hill seemed like just the thing. Instead of walking on the dusty road, we took the sheep trail up and down (a sheep trail is just like a geotrail except there is no sheep sh&t on a geotrail).
I couldn’t believe it when there was a guy in a truck parked near GZ eating lunch. There was no way to look inconspicuous and so we just said hello and asked whether we was feeling any effects from the radiation in the area. I pulled out my phone to measure whatever radiation is measured in and we were 4 metres from the cache. His lunch must have been good because he didn’t care about us. tftc

That was a great day's caching in Blenheim/ Renwick with 18 successful Puzzle Cache finds and not a single DNF . Another enjoyable puzzle with the theme quickly sorted. My first attempt at a find was at the time of last year's Geo Film Festival with a DNF back then but this time I went straight to it. TFTC capperz
I solved this one a few months ago at the start of my adventure into puzzle solving and remember it being one of the easier ones in the area with the clue for D jumping off the page. Today, on a much better day than one last week when my fingers had trouble holding the pen I headed up here again to grab this one. I love movies by this director.
On day 3 of a geocaching mission through the Molesworth and back to Chch via the Lewis with Nosynel. Having done all the Awatere valley and Redwood Pass it was time to grab a puzzle for the challenge Nellie is doing. So back to Blenheim. A quick walk uphill and the cache was soon found. Thanks for the puzzle and cache.
The big Molesworth circuit is in progress. Today is day three of Jude _E and my geotour. Thanks to her kind son we have use of a Toyota Hilux, extremely helpful indeed. We stayed a night at Blenheim with some of Jude's friends and are staying another night. Therefore our focus has been Blenheim based.
We wanted to finish the Awatere Road geocaches via Redwood Pass first.
Next on our list was a puzzle, virtual and wherigo. Anything else was a bonus.
I solved this puzzle ages ago. Mission 2 accomplished.
Sadly there is no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. I plan on going to the OzGeomuster in July. To find out more visit this site: https://www.ozgeomuster.com.au
If you can't make Aussie. New Zealand will have another large event in 2020 in Auckland. I will keep you posted in my logs.
Thanks for hiding this geocache.

Quick find this afternoon with eltee291 and crman1 at the end of our hike around the Wither Hills! Went up the Sutherland and down the Reservoir Ridge tracks. Very enjoyable time. Great puzzle, makes perfect sense now based on the Final location! Signed the log and replaced as found. Thanks for the puzzle and the cache, capperz!
Found this one today with hingis20 and crman1. Today was the perfect day to make our way along one of the loops on the Wither Hills. Really awesome up and the views are incredible. Lots of sheep and cows to talk to along the way. Here from Victoria, BC, Canada visiting with my daughter and her family in Blenheim. TFTC
Out in the hills with Eltee291 and Hingis20. Trying to get as many as we can today. Puzzle solved by Hingis20. Tftc
A quick and easy find. Solved ages ago, today is the time to find. Thanks
Day 2 of our drive to Auckland to catch up with family
Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

Checked this one today after recent DNF. I thought it was somewhere else but GPS showed a vacant place so added a new cache container to the solved GZ. Good to go again
Looked and looked with GPS zeroing out consistently. A later chat with the CO suggested a slightly different location. Ah well, there's always another day for a nice walk.
Solved this one while staying nearby on my summer holiday. Walked up this morning before the day gets too hot. Tftc!
Soon got ourselves onto the right source material to solve the puzzle. Today we arrived at GZ and quickly made the find. Thanks.
A day off work with perfect weather meant a day trip to Blenheim to go and find some caches. I solved this puzzle ages ago then lost the solution in a laptop meltdown. Resolved it again a while ago and finally had a chance to come and find it today. Although I'm familiar with the subject matter, I've never actually viewed it myself. Anyway, the cache was quickly found today and as previously noted, it has become 'unchained' which is perhaps appropriate. TFTC, Biggles.
Found with the help of my 6 helpers! Luckily no muggles around as we were very noisy! TFTC!
Our initial plan was to head to Golden Bay today but weather complications decided us against it so off to Blenheim once again.
This puzzle has been solved for ages but until the last week or so we've never walked in this area despite it being on the "to do one day" list. This was one of three caches we found in the area today with plans already in place to return and venture further in the near future.
Thank you Capperz.

Nice puzzle we solved some time ago. We had only a few caches on the list today and are trying to suss the Wither Hills for a proper expedition. The cache was easily found but is no longer attached due through corrosion. I don't think it's serious as long as the finders put it back as found. Thank you Capperz
Found this one, but didn't bring a pen, as the description didn't mention I needed to BYOP.
Nevertheless, a very QEF.
Well return with pen.

I solved this one a long time ago, when it was first published. Today at last I found myself in the vicinity so claimed the smilie. I'm not sure I've seen dogs on these hills before but today we spied a cockey with three dogs as we began our walk. Thanks for the puzzle and the cache.
TFTC capperz. Great theme and good location. Really enjoyed the clues and the walk
Solved yesterday and a quick wander today to make the find. Cache was located from 20m away and signed on a beautiful Marlborough day.
An ultra quick find - had 10 minutes to meet a friend to tackle the hill. 3 mins to solve the puzzles, 7 minutes to drive there ... No worries at GZ ... Now for the hill ;-/ TFTC.
Unlike other finders, this was the only hill cache Mrs SoBad had on the list today. It was also the only puzzle on the list today, when she was trying to finally look for caches bypassed too often in previous trips. The other trads on the hill will wait for a cooler day - she has an offer from a non cacher for a walk next month. It was far enough to go today with only one water bottle and no pack in the car and a hot and blustery Blenheim day. But good to have a stretch of the legs and a successful find.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Decided to finally get into these hill caches. Took Father for a 2 hour walk to the top and back. Went to solve this last night in preparation and discovered I'd solved it previously. Tftc
I solved this one soon after it was published, but with my one cache a day target it was left for another day. I'm now back into the wither hills caching to try and restore some fitness, and maybe training for the heaphy track (or similar). Having recently placed a scuba cache that requires a similar length walk carrying scuba gear I'm now aware of just how challenging that may be. A good puzzle and hide here. TFTC capperz
Paddle chick at I walked up part of the wither hill to get the duck pond and then went on to get this cache. Paddle chick did the hard work ,tftc
My BFF Google helped me solve the puzzle. Short walk with Nanzie to get the cache. Thanks capperz

Out for another wander in the hills today. I'd solved this ages ago for just such an occasion. TFTC #6865
Used google's help to solve this puzzle, one of these days may get to see the source material.
After finding a nearby cache, it was very tempting to go directly to this cache as it wasn't very far away, but we could see a barbed wire fence separating us from our prize so decided to play it safe and take the right path to it.
As we neared GZ, we wondered where the cache could be hidden, as there wasn't much scope even for a micro, but soon StreetWalker spotted a likely hiding place and there it was. Thanks for the puzzle and for our second find of a walk up the Wither Hills this morning.

I solved this puzzle (with Mr Google's help) within days of receiving notification of it's publication and I have waiting for an opportunity to visit.
Today, I decided to go MTBing in the Wither Hills and in cycling from my accommodation in Springlands via the Taylor River Reserve. This was the second cache found as I made my way eastwards on the MTB track. TFTC.

My kind of puzzle but not a subject matter that I was familiar with. Mr Google provided the assistance required. Found the cache without difficulty after a short detour on my walk back to the car. A nice way to finish after my walk around the upper hill tracks.
Thanks capperz for the cache.

A grey drizzly afternoon for a quick walk on the farm.
Easy find thanks capperz!
Easy find thanks capperz!
After a relatively quiet weekend on the caching front NZDi and I decided to clear out some of the recently released caches on the Reservoir Ridge. Rather than grunt up the ridge from the bottom picking up caches as we go, we decided to take the longer but less arduous route up Upper Quail Stream picking up a couple of caches that NZDi hasn't got yet and let gravity assist us with our caching by returning down the Reservoir Ridge Track.
The first glitch in our plan came when NZDi went to sign the log at the 'Quail Trail' cache and found our pen had gone dry. To compensate for not being able to sign the logs, we took a photo of the log or cache container as evidence of our visit which we will upload to the cache page. We endeavored to take the photos so that the cache location was not compromised.
This was my fourth cache for the day (and NZDi's sixth). By the time we got up on the ridge a good Marlborough Nor Wester was blowing so things weren't that pleasant, however we were rewarded on our trip with our own mini-airshow thanks to all the warbirds taking off from Omaka to return home after the Classic Fighters Airshow.
I solved this puzzle within minutes of it being released and advised the CO of an error in it, however I was not in a position to go for the FTF at the time. Then with the FTF off the radar, there was no urgency to do this cache, which is just as well because another four caches have been released on this ridge since and another three caches not too far away either.
As usual with this CO, a good description and hint made for a QEF, however as a SCUBA diver, the cache container tickled my fancy and deserves a FP from me. I would have taken a photo of it, but that would have compromised its location.
I didn't see any 'Reservoir Dogs' here.

We solved this on the walk back from our previous caching trip on the 3rd, thinking that it mightn't be too far out of our way. It was a bit, so instead it became the first find of another trip. Thanks for the cache.

PQ excludes puzzles, but I noticed this on the search page and was able to solve. Noticed the irony of the cache name and a (correct) attribute.
Thanks for the cache.

[green] {FTF} Out with taybee who had rung earlier and wanted to catch up. I said there was a FTF possibility and so Taybee, TaybeeNZ and I headed for the hills. Found that, and then headed for this one which, by some reason I cannot fathom, is still unfound. Although I was with the CO when it was placed, I have solved the puzzle, and I am with an FTF crew, so I guess it counts. My room mate is leaving, and it is his internet account (I leave in a week or so). Typed this up on my laptop, transferred it into the phone, copy-and-pasted from there into the log and uploaded from the phone. Phew! But it saves typing long text on a phone keyboard! Got a photo to post up as well, as soon as I work out how.
