I have been Unleashed Upon the World alone for the afternoon, so I am making it the days mission to hunt down as many Lolly Scramble caches as I can. Caching alone as That Darn Bear already has the majority of this series.Tftc

Today the Lolly Scramble series is my target. I'm with MacPacMum and while I find them she performs any maintenance required. Most are in excellent condition, with some needing fresh logs and baggys, and an odd few that need replacing altogether. It's great to have a power trail where all the caches are themed containers, and each one has had so much time, thought, and effort put into them. Thanks for keeping this trail going over 10 years MPM.A spectacular fresh cache put in place. FP for this one.

17-Feb-24
Container replaced. Ready for guests again.

10-Feb-24
TB drop. Please take this south

Due to ill health, still unable to drive out to maintain the caches on the trail. Hope to get time over the Christmas break to get someone to drive me out to perform the maintenance required.

I'm sure this was once a nice hotel but it has fallen a bit into disrepair, and the bug I had chose not to stay this time.
Probably needs an inner TB container here.

Also looks like everyone is just signing willy-nilly. Bug book, visitor book, it's all the same to them! Well, I signed in the visitor one - first one to do so since more than a year ago!

Kia ora! Paldies!
Thanks for the cache, MandMCachers!

Perfect day for caching along this road, as it was the route for the Coast2Coast cyclists, lots of cars parked on road verges, so one more didn't look out of place. The cache was quickly spotted although not at ground level; TFTC

Team G0LD: Geocachers 0B80B8, Lis's crew and DaffyNZ are down from Whangarei for a few days. We've all solved the 4 big geoarts so they are the main target for the trip. Of course there were many other solved puzzles that we collected as well. This was our Big Day out plan where we'd planned to get as many caches as we could. Unfortunately we just fell short of our target as we lost track of the exact number of finds. Good preparation and a fantastic team to work with made this an enjoyable and successful day. We'd completed the Fresh Breath, the Smurfs and the new Skelly series. This line up of lollies was our next target caches. I am a great fan of lollies. This was such a cool little series all with nicely themed hides. No TB's staying today. They may be visiting the dentist instead after gorging on their 5+ a day of healthy or not so healthy fruit and vege. The accommodation looked nice so I hope it gets some travellers soon. Thanks for the effort to make them all fun Smile

25-Nov-22
Team G0LD ( 0B80B8, Lis's crew & DaffyNZ ) on a caching mission to Christchurch. We had travelled down from Whangarei on Wednesday avo. Solved puzzles were going to be the main focus of our trip. We had spent a lot of 2020 and 2021 solving over 400 puzzles, so we had a lot on our list.

Today looked like being the best weather for our trip, despite a heavy thunderstorm overnight. We had a Big Day Out planned, with a perhaps optimistic target of finding 300 caches in one day. Working together well as a team, with a driver, a navigator and a jumper, we made good progress, but in the end, the bigger distances between caches, that we hadn't anticipated, meant we ended the day a bit short.

A fun day though certainly, and sincere thanks to the GeoArt & Trail CO's, and others, for placing and then maintaining such large numbers of caches so well. A testament to your dedication to Geocaching was the very low number of DNF's during the day. Apologies for the mostly generic logs, but be assured your efforts were truly appreciated.

Spotted this from the cache mobile so a nice quick find.

25-Nov-22
Northland's Team Gold (0B80B8, Liz Crew, DaffyNZ) are in Christchurch for a few days collecting all our solved puzzles and other cache types as we drive past. This is our "Big Day Out" to collect as many caches as we can in a day. Sorry for the generic logs. Thanks for placing the cache. We are loving every cache we locate that adds to our tally for the day.
This cache was spotted from the car. TFTC

A quick trip to the area for a few more caches and some unfinished bissness.
So today we get the lady of one geo art and start a new one .
Let's go have some fun .
This has been a nice drive picking up a few of the lolly scramble series and after this lot I need to book a trip to the dentist and improve my diet as a this sweet stuff can't be good for me but hay it's been fun .

Getting out and about in to the out doors is my happy place so any excuse to go caching.

Life is short. Live one foot step at a time.Never say" I'm gonna "- Just do it!!
Thanks for the hide

We were camped up a few ks from this end of the road so mrs rattll decided to go for a bike ride and see how many of these lollies she could polish off.
I did about 48ks cycling and gobbled up about 28 yummy caches.
Thanks for putting this fun series here.
A nice big cache to finish on as I'll turn around here.

Typical. Spend a week down south with the family visiting the outlaws, and ChCh bakes. Get back .. about 40 caches shy of where I want to be for the year, and it rains. I guess I have a jacket... They say you don't have to be mad to Cache, but sometimes it helps. Cheers!

Had to go back because first time someone was shooting a gun. When we stopped on the way back we scored a brats dancing game. Thanks for making our memorable!!

02-Oct-20
Down in Christchurch with the Squirrel, ABCDF4 and eyespyben. During Covid lockdown, we solved a load of puzzles and decided that this would be a good time to visit. We've enjoyed a few days of good weather and seeing the Canterbury countryside. The caches have been in varying states - some good, some not so much. Our time here has been a blast, and we'd like to thank all COs who have made this adventure possible. Thank you and TFTC.

02-Oct-20
With ABCDF4, eyespyben, and Gap (of Fap and Gap). Logging all finds as Team HRP (Huntly, Rotorua, Papamoa - Our hometowns)... During Covid-19 lockdown, we solved a truck load of puzzles around Christchurch - Canterbury region. No use thrashing the old grey matter for no cause - We decided we should make good on this handiwork...

There are lots of interesting trails and geoart surrounding Christchurch. What you aren’t told is how far flung some of these caches actually are. Some beforehand advice would have been great, so here are some of my notes... You’re welcome!

1. Mobile coverage is patchy, especially in those quiet, rural areas where it was most needed. Saving caches to offline might show that you are prepared and organised...
2. There are many dusty metal roads on the trails. The car will get messy, and your hair will feel like cardboard at the end of the day...
3. Suitable clothing and footwear are essential. You will climb in and out of hedges, gorse, and other rough stuff. You might get scratched, cut to shreds, and bleed a lot. It’s not advised to wear your brand new jacket on the day...
4. Take lots of food and drink. You’ll probably be head down, tail up and not realise you haven’t eaten until late afternoon. There are very few shops or gas stations out there...
5. Make sure that you secure keys and wallet and know where these are placed for easy retrieval. A full box of pens might be useful too, especially if you’re inclined to free some into the wild...
6. Know the difference between left and right, and north, south, east, and west. Turning right and heading north will not get you to South Christchurch quickly.
7. Look with girl’s eyes rather than boys eyes... Some caches haven’t been found in a while and you might have to get down on your knees to pray.
8. Always be prepared for misleading hints. This is what turns simple caches into D5/T5 hides... “Head height” could mean the cache is positioned at your toes.
9. Have a sense of humour and like the people you go caching with. It’s going to be a very long day, and you might want to hurt someone during the journey...
10. Make sure you can operate your phone/device and it doesn’t crash when you most need it...
11. Learn to cut and paste logs because you’re going to repeat this function so often when logging all of your finds.
12. Above all else, have fun and be kind...

We have another one of those punishing plans to cache until we drop - An early morning start with the hope that we'll finish at a reasonable time... From South Christchurch, we took Highway 1 and crossed the Waimakariri River into Northern Christchurch... We've been lucky to have great weather, and extended daylight hours have given us more time to cache. Unfortunately, the sun must set each day and it's become a race to squeeze in a few more finds. So, at this late afternoon hour, we chose to knock off the the remaining Lolly Scramble hides... A nice hide, but no travellers in residence. Thanks M&Ms and TFTC.

After a big day yesterday collecting caches around the Mt Thomas tracks, we headed out in the car today to clear some roadside caches. We had a pretty successful day with 55 finds and just 2 DNF's. All finds were nice and quick and any specific notes will be mentioned below. Thanks to all CO's for your caches and sorry for copy and paste log but I had no internet at time to make detailed logs.

A nice quick find. Swapped TB's. tftc

A planned geocaching trip with specific targets in mind.
1: The final 2 caches to fill my D/T grid
2: The last 5 caches available (all in the South Island) to meet the NZ Jasmer challenge GC4R9Z6
3: Get as many caches as possible in a day (Solo)
I had no timetable and only a vague route (Christchurch - Dunedin- Invercargill). So after 20 days of sleeping in my tent/car I arrived home having traveled 4500km and visited some interesting places. Met some great people. I had found over 650 caches. That was a lot of park. Jump out out. Find cache sign and return. Then on to the next. All this done by myself. Also attended an event and had 2 FTF
Mission 1 and 2 were achieved and I had a best day of 153 caches. All this done by myself.
Day 16 Glentunnel to Waikari 76 caches found. Thank you for the placement

26-Jan-19
We had Muscle Car Madness in Rangiora today so rather than listen to the burnouts (and smell) we headed out for the day. Spent the morning at Willow Bank then lunch out then drove down the scramble to nab the new ones followed by a play in Oxford a Sundae at the diner (recommended) and finally a swim at the beach. Had a great time and this was a really cool cache. Thanks for the effort that has gone into this trail.

13-Jan-19
Thought this TB had enough lollies and was ready for a snooze in a nice motel room.

13-Jan-19
As part of an eight hour maintenance run along the Lolly Scramble this cache has been checked - only to find the cleaners haven't been doing their job very well, so gave the place a bit of a spruce up so a new bug could use the room.

01-Jan-19
super quick find due to its size!

Arrived into the S.I today. Our 1st stop was to pick up our Juicy van & then hit the road towards the westcoast.
We chose the area of the lolly scramble to take us towards our destination. We stopped where we found it suitable with a car we were not used to.
We found such a variety of containers along this route, a nice war to start our trip.
It's so lovely & green & not having to worry about snakes sure is a big plus.
Thanks for placing this cache MandMCachers

Sorry for the late log, recently retired and have some spare time now for catching up on all the bits of paper I have lying around.
TFTC had a big day caching back on 31st August

30-Aug-17
Nothing to collect today - great cache. I am amazed at how such bright containers that are so easy to find have not been ruined by people who don't get what we do. This is probably my most enjoyable day caching yet, I really really enjoyed finding such an array of containers, many of which I have never seen before. I found myself imagining what I migt find at the next stop. This is definately a trail I will bring my grandkids to if I ever get to bring them to CHCH. Thanks so much for the enjoyment I have had today

Wow what a day, started at 7.30 just as daylight was arriving and the misty rain had me worried, turned out to be a great day with a total of 120 caches not the goal I had set myself (next time we are here we will try the 270 in a day again) but still a great goal at 120, thank you for placing and maintaining the caches we found, sorry for the copy and paste logs we had many to find and only recorded if damage or logs replaced. took 4 dropped 3 - a very awesome cache

Fabulous cache with so much thought gone into it....Well done MandMCachers! Of course have had to leave a few TBs to soak up the hospitality available. Thanks.
