Went out today with the aim of changing green boxes on the map to yellow, but unfortunately a few blue popped up too. Most of our finds were nice and simple, but a few took a bit of time.
Did the whole loop today, the ford was a bit soft, but our 4wd managed ok. Arrived at GZ and managed to find cache straight away. tftc

A nice quick find today. Cheers.
And now it is time to head home. Today we started from Alexandra, and travelled through the Pig Root. Once we hit SH 1 No caching! (As there re none left)
Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

I assume this was once the ‘main’ road but it was easier to build the current pigroot alignment than build 2 bridges and straighten this winding narrow road. Didn’t attempt the Ford today as it looked a bit deep so doubled back.
On the way to Ranfurly for the weekend.

I had spent the weekend in Ranfurly representing my immediate family at my great aunt's funeral. She had made it to the ripe old age of 97 so there were plenty of relatives to catch up with.
The morning had been really chilly with a good frost on the ground and snow settled on the hill tops from before the weekend so I hadn't set out for home until closer to mid morning.
Had to walk backwards and forwards to work out which way to go, then once it settled down a quick find under an obvious stone.
Nice spot thanks for the cache, no other traffic today so simple job to do a multi point turn and head back the way I came.

Lots of cars parked at the place I drove past to get here - guess it is a great place for a party .

I mostly don't read descriptions until I log the cache so I thought this title was actually about the strange sight the rows of stumps on the hillside make. Today they were made more attractive by the lupins. I enjoyed this little detour round the loop thanks U.N.C.L.E. TFTC # 11,477
Nice quick park and grab, been three years since I have been caching this way. Bitsprayer
On my way from Alexandra to Oamaru, I wanted to find some caches along the way. Luckily I'm full of imagination. So, I can totally imagine all the excrement on the floor being from the nearby living dinosaur. But it wasn't quite fun... Thanks for hiding, though!
Went right round the loop road,. The ford had us holding our breath for a moment but we made it through the other side!
Finding the cache was easier than driving the road from it! (Don't say that often! )

We'd been down this road previously with muggle-hubby who needed to fix a broken cable - yep you guessed it, right in the middle of the ford. It turned out to be too deep for a quick fix so he returned at another time with some more serious machinery. For us, it was an interesting excursion and today we were back, this time to find a geocache. Found with AorakiSheep.
Lots of rabbits running across the road as we drove to GZ, and we parked so close that we could almost (but not quite) reach the cache from the car. Found with debsnz
Quick stop on our way to Clyde for the long weekend via the Pigroot. Easy find and came from the righ end so didn't need to cross the ford. TFTC
Found on 9/10/2016.
School hols so a bit more time to drop in and grab some caches...

Drove along loop road but decide not to take on the ford so looped back and then looped into the other end of Loop Rd. Cache all good. TFTC
Heading home from a few days in central. Turns out Loop Rd requires some a more serious vehicle than ours to loop around. Thanks.
The sunset was stunning when we found this cache, a beautiful red glow! Unfortunately I didn't get a photo

After driving past both entrances of Loop Road for years, it was very satisfying to finally detour along it. A lovely place to live for the farming families here. Cachemobile enjoyed geting its wheels wet.
Onwards through the mighty pigroot and a wee diversion was called for along this well named road, a lot of thought evidently went into this name. Another satisfying find and then found - The Ford - only had a two wheel drive, but it had been dry so found out that I could cross it and just get out, surprisingly deep!
Thanks

2nd FTF for the day It's as bad as No 1 Bridge No 2 Bridge etc that you find in some areas You'd think they could come up with something better
