Just collecting a few caches in Christchurch before heading down to the Mega at Dunedin along with a bunch of others to collect a whole heap more caches over a few hectic days. Nice to do a quick solve for this in the motel last night. Tftc
Mr10 solved this a few years ago. today I was looking for a mystery not too far from a place I needed to go. Well, that was it. We approach GZ from the closest carpark we could find. It was quiet. While Mr10 was looking a bit and mostly pretending to trip over things, I scrolled the logs. It seems someone hasn't found it recently. He had no success, but it was in the first place I looked, pretty camouflaged though. Both container and logbook were in good condition. Wet inside, but waterproof paper works so well!
For such an adorable series, theyve been an absolute monster to find! I dont think Ive found a single one on the first go. Poked around heaps of hint items at GZ but gave it up as it turned into a needle/haystack thing.
Trouve ! / Found it ! 4956me cache trouve.Merci MadCat9, adopted by Jude_E pour la cache 4956th cache found.Thank you MadCat9, adopted by Jude_E for the cache
What to do on a Sunday? Geocaching of course!!Out today with GeoHubby (GNARwhal) to hunt down a few random caches while running some errands.I had been here once before way back in July, but it was dark and drizzly so I didn't have a very long look. Now it's light, and not drizzly, and the cache came into view pretty quickly. Thanks for the puzzle and cache.
3rd time really was the charm today, don't like heading home with no finds TFTC
Another month, another challenge. I don't know if I'll manage the full 28 day streak but I'm keen to see how many days I can get out and find caches this month. This is Streak Day 7. I solved the puzzle ages ago but never seemed to be in the right place to go and find the cache. Today I was in the area and made my way to the final location. Quite a few hint objects where my GPS zero'd out but I did manage to find the cache eventually in about the 4th or 5th place I checked. TFTC, Biggles.
I think there are still two caches lurking in these shrubs. The one I found had Warbut! as the first signature so I would say that this is the replacement cache from 2015!
I have had this one solved pretty much since publication but have never stopped by to grab the cache. Stuck my head in a few shrubs before the aforementioned cache was spotted. TFTC.

While the puzzle was straightforward, we failed to find this cache on a previous visit in 2018, when apparently it was missing. Our new attempt to find it today also failed.
A pretty well camouflaged container took a while for us to spot it. The first find in the morning.

The starter for today was "Otter". TEMBO! and I could find the cache after a quick search. The solution was managed at home weeks bevor.

#12,364. I am staying at my sisters place near Leeston and making my way towards the city and up to the north for biggish day of caching and doing ad labs. I solved all the jigidis last year and was planning to pick up a few today. Parked nearby and wandered down to the hiding spot. I know this plant pretty well so had no problem with identifying a suitable candidate. Realised there are quite a few in the area so I was very fortunate to find the cache in the first shrub checked. Interestingly the last log on the sheet was signed by NZkites. Does that mean there are two caches hidden near GZ? Thanks Madcat9 for the puzzle and Jude_E for adopting the cache.
Team G0LD: Geocachers 0B80B8, Lis's crew and DaffyNZ are down from Whangarei for a few days. We've all solved the 4 big geoarts so they are the main target for the trip. Of course there were many other puzzles solved as well which filled in the 24th. The 25th was the Smurfs and Fresh Breath. 26th was Rattle and Horses. We certainly made a great dent in my solved puzzle list but I'll still have enough for another trip.
My kids like doing these types of puzzles. My youngest son did this one in May of 2018. Wow, I'm so glad most of this series is still around. Another quick find today by the team. Thanks Jude_E for adopting this series and keeping it going

Team G0LD ( 0B80B8, Lis's crew & DaffyNZ ) on a caching mission to Christchurch. We had travelled down from Whangarei yesterday, so today was our first full day to get into it.
Solved puzzles were going to be the main focus of our trip. We had spent a lot of 2020 and 2021 solving over 400 puzzles, so we had a lot on our list. Thankfully the weather looked like it was going to play ball today, as caching in the rain is always just that bit harder.
Pleased to be converting so many blue grumpys from last year now that the caches have been replaced since my last visit.
Lis made the find here after a few minutes searching by the team. TFTC

We solved this and other Christchurch puzzles several years ago, before a previous visit to the city, but weren’t able to make the finds at that time.
This was #7 for the day. We had trouble getting a good fix on GZ and there were two hint objects nearby so we looked at both and eventually made the find. Thankfully only one muggle passed by while we were there. The log was wet but writeable. Thanks for the puzzle and cache, MadCat9 and Jude_E.

Pleased to finally get this one off my list as it is my second visit here. I spent ages looking for it and googled what the hint item looks like. Eventually found it just as I was about to give up. Found lying on the ground so rehid wedged just above the ground as per CO’s note. Well camouflaged
Spent a long time looking for this one in the dark, but was a quick find once the correct hint item had been identified. TFTC!
Teamed up with knotobsessed to pick up some more solved puzzles and to get her by the line for this latest challenge.
This one was very well camo'd, I didn't see the container at all but felt it, once finding the right GZ.
TFTC MadCat9, adopted by Jude_E, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 11 find(s) of 15 today, making this find #3368

Had this on the solved pile for a while so it's nice to finally track it down. Log hasn't been signed in a while but was all safe and dry. Tftc!
Cache found open on ground below original hide. Now a spiders nest! Cleaned out and returned to gz.
Solved the puzzle ok and found the park and I think we found the right bush but couldn't find the cache
Up in Christchurch with BCD who has a LandSR training course today so once I got the message he had finished it was time to get some caches on our target list.
Nice quick find here TFTC

Made a coffee and went for a GC adventure to find some solved puzzles. We love cute Otters and enjoyed watching them in Canada. This is a nice sneaky hide, found all good and dry. Thanks for the puzzle and cache Jude_E.
Down from Northland for a one week trip to Christchurch to pick up some solved puzzles, challenges, unusual cache types, Jasmer grid fillers, as well as a few others in passing.
Time for a few out west and south today. Running short on time today, so after a look around several of the hint objects, had to flag this one away. Thx anyway.

Thanks for putting out this cache for woolwood9 and I to find!

Puzzle completed however I am in Canberra Australia so will keep this one on my bucket list for now. Thx for the fun puzzle.
Not sure if cache had been moved but hint wasn't much help, reading previous logs helped more. Tftc!
I solved that puzzle at home.
On my tour around Christchurch I could find this box.
Thank you

A wee bot of time spare on the drive out to the CITO so I sent the kids on the hunt and they soon found it. Cheers
On my way to lake Pearson for the weekend and had a bit of time up my sleeve before picking up jessflett so a good excuse to grab a few city caches .

We had come over yesterday for the Reviewer Revealing Event and today was set aside for some maintenance / placing on the way home, but we had stayed nearby-ish so we couldnt resist coming over for a puzzle (or 3) before leaving. These Jigidi's have been solved for so long now is nice to be able to come and turn them into smilies. We were too sure of the hint and we couldnt even try to pronounce it but luckily we didnt need it as the cache was highly exposed. After signing the log Mum add a piece of camo on top that will hopefully stay. Thanks to MadCat9 for the effort involved in placing and creating this cache for everyone else enjoyment and also to Jude_E for taking over maintenance
And there I was wondering what that hint looked like, and then when I saw it I remembered.
Quick easy find on my way past for work. Solved these puzzles so long ago, nice to finally get a chance to find and sign the log. Thanks for the effort that goes in to placing and maintaining the cache.
Pried the cache from decomposing leaf litter in fork of tree. The log was dry and in pristine condition. Covered with sticks on re-hiding. TFTC!
A day of caching with KCN and meeting up with Nosynel later on in the morning who joined in for the rest of the day. A few puzzle caches found, DNFs from 2017 found as well as traditionals here and there mainly to the west of CHch. Thanks to all the COs for placing their caches in a variety of interesting places.
Otter is still there as both Joojoo57 and I found it. Now onto meet up with Nosynel further out of town.
A straightforward puzzle, but despite searching 6 potential hint items, we couldn't find the new replacement cache.
Found with nissan 65. Flew in from sydney for a short holiday. Hoping to see as much as i can on the south island and pick up caches along the way . Thanku for the cache. Container replaced with permission from CO
Day 8 and last day of our holiday in NewZealand with cullum68 heading home tonight thanks for the cache replaced with permission from co
Found after a short search. Solved all the puzzles a while ago but didn't get around to finding them until today.
I have been told be rustynz that its time to log my Christchurch finds
Came into town for a 3 day weekend of fun with a group of Westies (rustynz, gorby & jag50)
Sorry for the generic log - but thanks to the CO for creating and maintaining their caches.

A group of us West Aucklanders came down to Christchurch for 3 days of caching fun and adventures. Today we happen to be rustynz, Rebel98 and Jag50 x2 and myself Gorby. We do this on a frequent basis… go away for 3 days here there and everywhere, hire a car and go for it caching!
Today, our last day, we had a plan to start on this series. I had solved these months ago now but thought I told the others to solve them - apparently not!
Mr Jag5o drove us around, I did most of the navigating, occasionally Mrs Jag50 double checked, and we all got out of the vehicle at some point in time to make the finds, but mostly it was rustynz and Mrs Jag who did the finds. Loved doing these jigsaw puzzles btw.

Down in Christchurch for a few days with Gorby, Rebel98 and RustyNZ. We had solved this one well ahead of our trip down. On this day we had a series to complete. MrJag50 drove and assisted on helping search for a number of the caches. Gorby navigated mostly with Mrs Jag50 cross checking. RustyNZ and Mrs Jag 50 almost always searched.
Caching with Team West (rustynz, rebel98, gorby & jag50) day 3, of our wild weekend of fun in Christchurch
Its going to be a marathon effort, but I plan to solve these jigsaw before I log them!
Gorby had already solved them, but somehow the message did not get thru that I should be solving them too. So this afternoon I have been counting down the list, my eyes getting tired as I click and drag.....
Love the series, and the finds. Its going to be a cut and paste log sorry - but I appreciate all your hard work. We got to visit various parks, and it must have been council weed spray day, as we spotted a few workmen out doing there thing.
So we got to look in bridges, fences, trees and pray to the heavens when the caches did not reveal themselves immediately
We even spotted flying fox well we had to try it out, quality control you see
Whilst I was at every find, it was jag50 who found the majority of the caches, she has this 6th sense and for one cache in particular, a forest of long grasses greeted us, and I thought OMG, but within a minute, she had it, we could have been their for ages, but the universe was on our side.

Looked up the hint and took us a long time before we found it. Due to history of this cache I looked harder then found the original. Was a bit surprised as this happened before.

Well, I just learned that otters eat a lot, freshwater European otters eat food that amounts to 10-15% of their own body mass and the sea otters eat even more - 25-35%!
Like others I had to google the hint as well. As there were multiple objects, I spent some time looking around several of them before I found the canister.

Taybeedragon and I are on our way home at last, after a weeks's geofesting in Oamaru. But, no, it's not finished yet! We are meeting up with friends in Christchurch but are a few hours early. And the only Christchurch caches i have in my GPS are from my South Island unfound puzzles GPX. So a puzzle day it is then! I like these jigsaw puzzles. Nice and easy!
Day 10 - of our (The Seagnoid, Toby, Zara, & myself) epic adventure to Oamaru- leaving Geraldine for Hanmer today, heading homewards.
Drop Zara on outskirts of Christchurch and jump in Toby to visit a friend in Riccarton but its still a bit early so lets go caching.
Thanks to The Seagnoid for his puzzle solving capabilities and Madcat9 for puzzle creativity.
Navigating around these is becoming interesting as I keep going the wrong way, but finally getting to GZ and snagging this one. Cheers

When I knew I was coming Down to Christchurch for a day, I solved a couple of puzzles in anticipation of this as they weren't to far from where I was going to be. A nice puzzle and a nice spot. I had to Google the hint, oh look at that I'm standing right beside the right one. Tftc
20 August 2017 11:32. Really glad to see this slippery little critter has returned to its den. TFTC and the maintenance MadCat9
New bark has been laid all around the Muehlenbeckia Astonii. Checked other examples further out from the GZ coordinates but still no joy.
Six or seven different hint objects near the GZ but no successful search unfortunately.
Fished around and found eventually under leaves. About 5m from gz by my phone but under a hint! Not too many to check. Just 6! Thanks for the cache.
I spent quite a time here searching all possible hint objects, but this one escaped me.
Looked for this little otter a few times now. A more thorough and systematic seaarch and up pops a smiley. Cheers.
Thanks to the CO's for the hides. Cheers.

A pretty well camouflaged container took a while for me to spot it. The last find of the weekend. Time to head to the airport and head home after this one. Cheers and TFTC
One of us has always enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, so these Jigidi puzzles were eagerly solved whenever a new one popped up in our email inbox. We were disappointed to run out of time on our trip to the Mega last year, before we could make the finds on the Jigidis. Today we are back in Christchurch, and after a day out in the countryside getting some Fresh Bresh, a few more Angry Birds and a handful of Smurfs, we finished off the day finding all the Jigidis. Some of the hides were straight forward, but a few took a bit more time, and checking of previous logs.
We understood the hint for Jigidi 2, but after searching each one of these we still came up empty handed. From the previous logs we knew it was still there somewhere, so checked again. This time we came up with the well hidden container. Phew!
Thanks MadCat9 for the series and the fun.

Thought I'd have success with SW&T but after looking all around, thought it could be another failed mission. StreetWalkernz found the well camo'd cache, in the first place that Troodles & I had searched together, obviously not carefully enough. This is our last Jigidi to round up, thanks for the interesting series !
#12180. It was good on our afternoon caching trip we managed to take Lo Vista to one cache the LV team hadn't found. Luckily Troodles had researched the hint object, which helped a lot. Even with the research, the cache took a bit of finding. After widening the search area, I went back to where me GPRs was telling me to go, and was pleased when my hand touched the well hidden (micro!) cache. TFTC.
Oh, dear, a 1 diff rated cache - these are the ones that we are most likely to DNF! I had done some prior research to make sure I knew what the hint object looked like, and even though the cache was in the first place I looked, I failed to locate it because a) it was well camoed and b) I was looking for a small sized container, and what was eventually located (what would I do without StreetWalker's ability to home in on caches?) was a micro, not much bigger than a film canister.
Good to turn this one into a smiley as it has a considerable number of DNFs logged against it, and finally a cache that the La Vista team hadn't yet found. TFTC.

Finally. This must have been the third visit. First time without hint - no luck. Second time with the hint - and did not know what it was. Today determined to make this a find and finally the well hidden cache in our hands. Thanks for the puzzle and the cache.
Back again, after seeing our Granddaughter off at the Airport, and this time we knew what to look for..Great wee set of Puzzles, and loved doing them all.TFTH
Had Jacob solve the puzzle. He really enjoyed doing it as something quite different. Was over the road for work this afternoon so arrived a little early to grab the cache.
Have to log the only one not found, only because stupidly we didn't look for a Picture of the Plant..But did hunt around for ages looking at all of them, within 10 Meters but no luck this time..
But we will be back next time over this way..
But we will be back next time over this way..
Failed to find this one on a previous attempt, but after looking at the hint (glad I had my phone!) and widening the search zone I found something that caught my eye. TFTC MadCat9, #8217
Our 2nd did not find in a row we were looking in the right piece of nature according to google but couldn't find. Will try again another time...
My BFF Google helped identify what I was looking for. Having tried every one at least twice I started to walk away then turned around for one last look and my hand touched it straight away. TFTC

I just couldn't find this one, depsite quite a search, and with the airport calling had to leave it for my next trip. Thanks anyway
The puzzle was solved at home, so all we had to do was collect the smiley!
Cache was found on Day 5 of the NZ MEGA 2015 caching trip, as Gunnie69 and myself made our way to the airport collecting a few smilies. A very nice day meant we made good progress through Cracroft, Hornby and Papanui, and finishing to catch a plane home!
Thanks MadCat9 for the efforts of putting out the cache and making it an enjoyable day!
