Out with Happy pants for the day in his local area, exploring places I've never been.Stopped here and grabbed the info needed for a likely set of co-ords, where a quick find was made, once at GZ. This was a nice piece of artwork. Thanks TeamThommo for placing this cache and doing the maintenance, so we can enjoy finding it.
Out and about today exploring the area with Grannan55 and Geodogs. The calculations are right, the geocheck is wrong. Should have been confident in my maths. Thanks for showing us this beautiful plant and its history. All good here. Now, onto the next one for the day. TFTC
A problem with a new information board and one question has now been fixed - all should flow well
Returning home from a rushed road trip to QLD, we have been stopping for the occasional cache. This cache eluded us on a previous visit last December as we used a different value for C. We tried updating the value and changed our coordinates to an alternate gz. Today we made a slight detour to finally add our name to the log, before finishing our journey home. Thanks TeamThommo for the excellent cache placement.
It was time for the traditional post Christmas road trip. The stockings were emptied of presents, feasts were devoured and great times were had with family and friends. Now to get away!Day 1: Melbourne to Griffith via some rain, storms and a few caches. After DNFing this cache earlier in the year, we returned today to have another look. I saw that dalerious had replaced this one not long after I last visited. We collected the info again but noted that the information sign has been replaced from the one that I found. This changes the answer for C as the wording has been altered. At GZ the same cache guardian was in place, however the replacement log has vanished. We added a log and a waterproof micro container to the cache for now. Thanks TeamThommo for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy. It was a great day out!----------------------------------------------------------The Ballarat GeoTour ends on 4 March 2024! Be sure to find all the caches and earn the souvenir before the tour is archived. The [Farewell Ballarat GeoTour Event - GCAFQ8B](https://coord.info/GCAFQ8B) is on 18 February 2024.Looking for caches to find when visiting Victoria? Why not check out the geocaching lists available on the [Geocaching Victoria Website](https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/information/great-caching-lists/). There are plenty to choose from including all of the previous nominees and winners of the Victorian Cache of the Year Awards.
A loose plan was hatched for a 3-week road trip with RoamingHowie to explore locations in Country NSW wed not been to before and of course, find a cache here and there.DAY ONE: Wilby, Yarrawonga, Narrandera & Griffith.Thankfully RH had previously solved this as it appears the sign has changed giving a different answer for C. Still no logbook spotted at the obvious gz, so RH replaced with container and fresh log which should stay put this time. Thanks for bringing us here by placing this cache, TeamThommo ~~
Unfortunately some this is a miss here, will try to rectify over Christmas if we get time Sorry guys
I’m really confused what is going on with this one, I’m several thousand km away currently and my local maintenance person isn’t driving at the moment.
Could the next cacher to find it please message me details of what the hide looks like and condition of the hide is currently - reading back through logs it sounds like it’s nothing like the original cache but I can’t work out when that changed. Thanks in advance

Found while on a Northern outing into NSW with my partner catnap777 for a Truck Show and a fist full of smileys.
The original log (and what kept it dry) was missing from the "container" at GZ.
I tucked a temporary replacement log with my name inscribed on it into the unique and intact outer shell I found. [^]
Cat' had already discovered this one long ago, so she knew what was supposed to be there.
Our temporary fix is not weather proof.
We came all this way for the Truck Show here in Oaklands this weekend. We walked a lap of the oval, caught up with with a couple of familiar faces and then buggered off setting about the serious business of chasing caches all over Federation County for the rest of the day.
TFTC TeamThommo.

Searched everywhere but was unable to come up with the goods today.
Arrived at a plausible GZ despite the checker erroring like those before me. There was a large cache guardian in the tree, but no sign of a cache at GZ. Perhaps I missed it!

The mozzies were blood thirsty here. We found the spider but it is empty at the moments. Escaped to the car needing a blood transfusion.
We headed into the flooded eastern states for a week of geocaching fun. The mission was Frying Pan. The only December 2000 placed cache remaining in Australia. All other choices for this month are international. Traveling in style and comfort we selected the next cache on merit and forward movement. Some back tracking was required in the wettest areas. Wildlife seen included a lyre bird, king parrot and a single leech. Mozzies were a pest. Caches were found and signed. Wet logs were wet. Water does that. Numerous TOTTs were employed.
Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun.

Found on a trip from Adelaide to NSW and back with Freddo.
Our main target was ‘Frying Pan’ in the Chichester State Forest, near Barrington Tops north of Newcastle.
We allowed ourselves a week to travel there and back, taking a circuitous route through Victoria and NSW, camping each night and finding a range of caches of interest along the way.
Rains over the past few months meant a few detours along the way and plenty of water about, restricting access to some caches and camping areas. Many of the roads were quite chopped up with potholes and the mosquitoes were plentiful! But we had a good run with the weather, with just the odd shower, but mostly fine, warm and overcast.
After collecting the required information, the final coordinates were soon determined and it was off to GZ for the find just a short drive away. The mosquitoes here were horrific!
Thanks TeamThommo for the cache.

**Found whilst in Corowa for a couple of nights**
The thing I love about caching is the interesting stories, the extra interest and attention you take when traveling, the sight-seeing, the history, the interests of the individual CO’s, *the fantastic photo opportunities* and sometimes finding places that even some locals don’t know about. I, like most cachers, look for more that a mint tin or a container under a bush. I appreciate the time that most CO’s take to construct a cache and write up a comprehensive listing and to create an interesting cache. **I love traveling this big land of ours.** I love taking the roads less traveled. I love the diversity of the land, the different scenes in the different seasons, the fresh air, the open plains, the lofty vistas and the magnificent waters. I even enjoy the longer scenic walks although I'm not as young and as fit as I used to be. I love the different coffee shops I find. I enjoy the times I cache with others but I usually cache on my own.
It has been wet, wet, wet up here with some minor flooding and a few road closures around. Happy pants decided that we should go for a drive and grab a couple of caches. We actually had an Adventure Lab on our to do list today but grabbed any at the way points. Grabbed the required information and came up with good coords. A nice quick and straight forward find here today (after dodging puddles) with good coordinates and cache dry and in good condition.
Thank you TeamThommo for highlighting this area and for adding this cache to my real-life treasure hunt. Appreciate your efforts.

Out with Snap Happy grabbing a few smilies in our travels from Corowa today and we ended up grabbing a few Federation Small Towns series and while we were at it managed to pick up a few randoms while we were at it. Having a serious case of deja vu with having been up this way before and grabbing this one but not logging it previously it was a straight forward multi with already doing the leg work. For memory l couldn't get my numbers to add up but managed to get a feel for the final gz and simply expanded my search until l located the cache. Today it was a simple find with this hide. Thanks TeamThommo for the multi and highlighting the orchid in the tea cup!
Decided to spend my Monday afternoon driving around Federation council completing the newly published caches as well as a few others.
Gathered the required info for this one at the neat sculpture, I couldn't get the checker to give me a green light but decided to go have a look at my gz anyway. A nice little reserve, spooked a couple of roos off, and soon enough I had my hand on the cache.
Tftc !

Oaklnds - Narrander
So much to learn on this special flower. The checker wasn't happy with my co-ords but it was found where the information we learnt from the sign too us.
We had an overnight spot at Oaklands in the graet camping area they have set aside for caravaners.
We learnt all about the Oaklands orchid & very rare species only found i this region.
The following day we moved to Narrandera into the showground for 2 days only one cache to be found here out in the forest.
Thankyou TeamThommo for placing this cache.
On our way to Yarrawonga for the weekend, to meet up with Team Crackers.
After doing the sums, our GPS took us within 2 meters of the cache.
Signed and replaced. All good here.
Many thanks for placing this cache, TeamThommo, for us and others to find.

A quick find after collecting the info required,on a very wet and soggy morning on our way out of town heading to Yarrawonga.Cache and log in good condition.TFTC
Grabbed the info, and a coffee from across the road then went back to the park to sit in the shade and ponder, pondering done, was off for an easy find.
We stopped in Oaklands to wash our windscreen at the RV park. Over the road a multi cache was strongly drawing me to it, like a magnet. I admired the sculpture, read the information about it and calculated GZ while sitting on the beautiful curved seat. After calculating GZ I noticed it was on our way out of town on our way to Wagga Wagga. I briefly searched the area around GZ for one of the orchids. I only found some everlastings in flower, so I took a photo of them.
Thank you for a Brilliant multi cache Team Thommo ! Fancy seeing a traditional cache of yours so far our home region of west Gippsland. Well worth a favourite point.

Cache found quite easily after working out the coords, once of the questions got me stuck, but few of the previous logs had me pointing the riggt way. All looks to be in good working order. Thanks for the find.
Passing through Oaklands on the way from Tocumwal to Canberra and decided to pause the drive and check this out. A quick find today and thanks for increasing my knowledge about this orchid. TFTC
Well, l know l can be a little daft at times, but this multi was a doosey. Grabbed all the relevant numbers needed to get me to GZ, But when l put the coordinates into geo checker it said they were wrong. Had a feeling where GZ was anyway, so headed out there, and sure enough had my hands on the cache quick smart. Decided to take a gps reading of GZ, and a couple of numbers were out, and did not match what the answer should have been from the info board. Then to further my horror, l punched in the GZ numbers l got from in situ, into the geo checker, and blow me down, it said they were wrong. May someone please explain what just happened here
Found by Mary and David at 11:15. What an amazing story. We do like learning something new. Had no idea that the CWA was involved in projects like this. Our hearts sank when we read that they do not flower in dry conditions. At least they still exist underground. Another FP. A fun way to access GZ. Found the container on the ground in full view with only the laminated stash note inside. Added a new log book, and replaced the container a little higher and with a little natural camo. Our thanks to TeamThommo.
Murray River December 2018. I headed away with Fitzy_1965 for a weekend caching towards the Murray River near Corowa. We targeted a few series and as many DNFs from previous trips as possible. We did of course generate even more this time, but overall had a great time despite a sharp thunderstorm on Sunday morning. This was the last cache for the trip for me and a great little multi.
Thanks.

17,204. Found during a caching weekend run down to the Murray River in the Corowa region with albida33.
After camping on the Murray last night we woke up to a huge thunderclap overhead and we then packed up in extreme record time as a red rain cell was about to hit us ! Just made it as a big dump of water hit the site. Oh well at least we made an early start to the days caching ! This was the next stop for the day. Quickly located the required info, calculated GZ, and off we went. Quick find at GZ. Signed the log, replaced the cache, then headed off to the next one.
Thanks TeamThommo !!

Found after a brief search. Spent a few mins rechecking my answers as the checker didn’t exactly agree but GZ spotted on approach.
Loved the orchid in a teacup, and the work being done here to bring it to the attention of the public.
Coordinates extracted from the information provided and we were on our way to find the cache.
Muggle Hubby being the orchid grower in our garden, found the cache in style.
Thanks for this interesting and elucidating Cache.

Heading towards Queensland where the weather is warmer. My way seems to be a rather meandering one as I go from cache to cache. This one was great fun and an educational experience as well I really liked the area of the final and was only sorry that I’m a bit early to maybe lucky enough to see one of these rare orchids in flower. TFTC Team Thommo
Decided to divert via Oaklands on the way home from a meeting and picked up the one in the park and this one while having an ice cream.
A colleague has been working on this orchid and so it was nice to cisit(briefly) the reserve. Couldn’t actually get a correct GZ but decided to visit anyway. Found the obvious entry spot and with the notes and the hint quickly had the right spot. Log quickly signed and then hit the road home to albury. TFTC - a favourite as it is well worth a drive on this back road.

Attended an event hosted by the Oaklands CWA and Corowa Landcare all about the orchid. We kicked off inside at 'the teacup' and heard more about this rare and stunning plant. Then off to see if we could find them in bloom - and yes, success!
Also found other wildflowers in this interesting grassland, plus a few interesting (to me) insects and some polka-dot feathers.
Oh, and the Oaklands orchid is said to be pollinated by Blue-Banded Bees ... clearly an insect very dear to my heart.
Big thanks TeamThommo for this terrific cache highlighting both the town and this special Diuris. A cracker!

This is our fourth trip to the northern island this year. The first three were primarily for family events but with some opportunities to do some caching along the way. The fourth trip is different as caching is our focus. After getting off The Spirit of Tasmania we are heading north to cache at Wangaratta and then Yass before heading into the ACT and Queanbeyan for a week. After that we will travel to Jindabyne for a few days with summiting Mount Kosciuszko being our main target for this part of our trip. Then we will visit Cooma and Tumut before heading back down the track through Wangaratta and Mansfield as we make our way to Alexandra for the MEGA. After the weekend we will continue to make our way south and back onto the Spirit of Tasmania for the “drive” across Bass Strait. We are really looking forward to three weeks of intense caching in great areas and, hopefully, catching up with some geocachers in each of the areas we will visit.
Today we spent most of the day in the car travelling from Tumut to Tarcutta, Culcairn, Finley, Cobram and Corowa. The main purpose of such a route was to visit another waypoint for a multi which started in Canberra and to find GCA caches in four Local Government Areas as we work towards the CGA Trophy Challenge of finding at least one GCA cache in all Local Government Areas (LGA) within a 100km radius of our finding centroid. Our current centroid is in central Victoria meaning that the LGAs we need to visit are all in Victoria and we will have to visit them during trips outside Tasmania. If we could find a GCA cache in the four LGAs today, we would only need to find a cache in another seven LGA to complete the challenge. So we planned a long day driving. With such a long trip we took the opportunity to look for some GC caches in each of the areas visited and along the way. In fact we found many more GC caches than GCA caches but we managed to reach our GCA goals for the day.
After visiting Culcairn and Walla Walla , we continued with our roughly western travels heading for Finley. We looked for and found two caches in the small rural town of Oaklands on the way.
The object of interest at the waypoint was certainly large and made a clear statement to the community and visitors as they pass by. Data collection at the published coordinates was straightforward. From there is was a short drive to GZ where accurate coordinates and a common style of hide led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks TeamThommo for this interesting multicache.
***** We are currently writing detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC. "The Author" Badge challenges geocachers to average one hundred words or more in each log. On 1 September 2017 our average was 86 which seems close to the 100 target. However given that we have found so many GC caches, we have to write many logs with well over 100 words for a long period of time to get our average to the target. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that we can strive to attain this challenge. After 408 caches (which includes all cache finds up and including yesterday), the average log length is just over 97.0. We are now entertaining the possibility that we might be able to achieve our gaol before this trip ends. Progress has been better than anticipated.*****

As it was close to lunch time we decided to find the local and try for some lunch. After a beer a wine and some very good bangers and mash we have decided to award a favourite point.

Well this was an interesting cache - I thought that I had entered the nearby trad, so when we got to GZ we searched and couldn't find anything. A check of the cache description and - d'oh! It's a multi [:o)] So we read the interesting description and were fascinated that the orchid is only found around this district.
Thanks TeamThommo.

Nice cool day for a drive to exotic Oaklands, got the figures quickly, avoiding the bustling hordes of muggles, off to GZ and a quick find. Certainly no orchids to be found today.... TFTC
Have looked at this cache page many times since it was published, and today we got a chance to come in person to see the colourful sculpture and learn about this rare orchid. Noted the information needed and headed off to GZ. Yep, we must be in the right place! Climbed over the stile and soon had the cache in hand. SL at 11.56am. Not the right time to see any flowering orchids but did find a few interesting beetles on our way back to the geoCruiser. They were all dead, but showed up very clearly against the dry grasses. #3399 TFT multi cache to add more interest to our day TeamThommo.
Catching up with some late logs, therefore this unfortunately is going to be one of 'those logs'. I apologize in advance for the generic log, A combination of limited time and too many to log dictates that a generic log is best. I have enjoyed the hunt and being outdoors in this great country of ours, partaking in a pastime that I thoroughly enjoy. I usually head out by myself, but I thank those that have had the misfortune of my company in some of these ventures.
Thanks TeamThommo for placing this cache.

Having the day free before the fireworks tonight at Mulwala micaparamedic and I headed off to grab some Earth caches and also any that were close to the roads we traveled.
After having a bite to eat across the road we came here to try our luck. The information was found and collected quickly as well as some very interesting information about this Orchid was gained.
We headed off to GZ where the cache was located right where the GPS was pointing and the log now contains our names.
Thanks Team Thommo for showing us this location it was quite interesting and we are glad you placed a cache here,

It has been many a year since I was last in Oaklands. Back then I don't think I realized there was even a CWA here. And if I did, I certainly didn't care too much. Twenty years ago I could be found inside the pub across the road, playing pool and generally making a nuisance of myself whilst my dirty ute was parked along many of my mates dirty utes outside. These days I resisted the temptation of re-living my mis-spent youth in Oaklands and instead nabbed a couple of geocaches on my way through.
A lovely informative multi-cache. I was here in the right month but unfortunately I didn't spot any of the elusive wild-flower. Thanks TeamThommo for giving me a reason to return to Oaklands.

Well that is better than a storm
So after admiring the very well constructed statue,
I had a set of coords to head for ...
... just before flowering season [:o]
I climbed over the fence and strolled the short distance to GZ.
Easy find
Finding an orchid was not going to happen today
TFTC.

Took a stroll around the memorial park and looked at all the history there, then decided to walk out to the gz for a bit of a leg stretch. The walk was nice and then we made a quick find at the gz. Tftc.
A relaxing morning just touring the countryside with Indianagleeson, red Leader & fox 2. Tftc
A nice little multi with a short still to GZ

It was road trip time and three days traveling and caching was quickly planned. An early morning start and the first location was Mt Buller. From Mt Buller I headed to Bookham in NSW and stayed there the night before hitting the Endangered Species series of caches, starting early the next morning. Heading South West I stopped at Gundagai to visit a 'dog', continued through Walla Walla and Urana before crashing just out of Berrigan. The third day I continued west to Echuca then south through Bendigo and the final stretch for home.
The weather was good on day one but later that night it started to rain and continued for the next two days. Needless to say I did get quite wet on occasions, and some of the country roads I followed where no place for a 2WD, the Prado would slip and slide but luckily kept moving forward. By then end of the trip there was another 1800 km on the clock, 239 cache finds, 2 DNFs and 5 FTF's just to top it off. Thanks to all the CO's for the caches I found and the places they brought me to.
During the trip I would be heading from Gundagai, west towards Echuca and prior to leaving checked for any unfound caches in the area and a bunch came up around Oaklands and Urana. I hadn't visited the region for a while so it was a great excuse to come back again, even tough it was night. With 5 FTF's up for grabs I decided I'd head out to those before making my way to the northern outskirts Berrigan where I would eventually end up camping the night.
The pub down the road was pretty busy with quite a few patrons out the front having a beer and a smoke. Luckily WP1 was out of sight from these loud and boisterous muggles. Using my torch, I read the information and wrote down on my pad the answers then headed back to the car to do some calcs. I soon had a reasonable looking GZ. Parking close by, I made my way to GZ and a quick search revealed the hidden cache. A blank logbook and a sign in first place. I'd have to check my stats but this could be my first solo first to find multi.
A fav for me and a big thanks to TeamThommo !
