Checked on the cache again today, following the recent DNF, and all was found to be in good order. No maintenance required. Happy caching everyone
The cache was checked a few days ago and was all good. It's not possible for this cache to get "washed away" regardless of how much rain we might have.
#13698 14:45OCW Martin Cousins for a few caches around Allambie Heights. What a great cache hide, well worth a FP.TFTC vk2df.
Out for some caching in Allambie to tick off this loop of caches. Starting at Cootamundra I made my way down the track to find the rest.As I mentioned above this was cache number one for todays adventure. Approaching GZ I was a bit confused because it was kinda sending me all over the place. Anyway, after a bit of looking around I spied something a little suspicious. Taking a closer look, I managed to unscrew the cache to a nice log and pen, it was quite wedged in there so I wasnt able to hand log it but cool cache nonetheless.Loved this one, classic vk2df for you.#151, TFTC
Checked on the cache this afternoon, following the recent DNF, and all was found to be in good order. No maintenance needed. Happy caching everyone
I’m back in Sydney for a few days visiting from Brisbane. Jackscruff suggested we meet up and do some geocaching together in the Manly Dam area. As we had limited time, I chose the Allambie Heights area as there were four caches which have a particular attribute that I'm after for a challenge.
Even though Jackscruff has found all of these caches, she left me to it to find them. This was the first one and it didn't take long to see something slightly unusual - I've seen something similar before - and the hint confirmed it. It was quite damp inside the cache but I could still easily write my name on the waterproof paper. I loved all the extra bits added to this one so a fp. Tftc

The RFS Hazzard Reduction burn has been completed, after being delayed by a week, and the fire didn't end up quite reaching the cache. The removed cache components have now been returned to GZ and the cache is now good to go. Happy caching everyone
The cache is being disabled due to the area being closed from tomorrow Saturday 26th November, and until further notice, for a RFS Hazzard Reduction burn. Some parts of the cache have been removed to protect them from the heat of the fire.
Returned to this cache that had been bothering us immensely after the owner responded to our DNF. We finally found it, this one is quite tricky, i think the first part of the clue is way more helpful than the second which I don’t entirely understand to be honest. Very clever cache, thanks to the owner for responding also )
Stopped by the cache this morning for a cache check, following the recent DNF, and all was found to be in good order. The area is a bit bushier than it used to be, but still easily accessible, and it's an easy reach from behind the fence line. Happy caching everyone
Looked for over half an hour, read hints and activity log and Fairly sure we eventually understood the clue. Were looking on and around the “Pope” and couldn’t find it. Noone had found this for a while so unsure what to do.
Out caching with JimmyDave, on boxing day to work off all that festive food. We set out to start the caches on the power trail on manly dam.
We looked high and low for a while and were getting close to giving up. Then JimmyDave had an idea and cache in hand soon after.
Agree area seems a bit overgrown then maybe it was previously. So had to go a metre or so off the grass to find.
Quite a bit of over growth. Persistence paid off! You can reach it from the grassy knoll
Today (11th October 2021) marks the official start to NSW’s re-opening Covid-19 Roadmap, following the Covid-19 health crisis that led to the prolonged Sydney lockdown. As such we feel it’s time to bring our caches back online for the enjoyment of the caching community. Happy caching everyone
To help stop the spread of Covid-19, the NSW Government has ordered everybody to stay at home unless you are: shopping for essentials, receiving medical care, exercising or travelling to work or education.
While some people would regard going geocaching as a form of exercise, it is our personal opinion that this activity is a non-essential one, perhaps involving unnecessary travel and therefore should not be undertaken during this time of crisis.
Today (14-08-2021) authorities announced tighter restrictions & compliance on leaving home for the approved reasons, including a reduced 5 km from home limit and the removal of the reference to "recreation" that many geocachers have been using to justify their continuation of geocaching. As a result of this we have decided to disable this cache and respectfully request that no person seek out and claim a find whilst this cache is disabled.
We look forward to bringing our caches back into play as soon as the health crisis abates.
Regards,
vk2df

This is a great camo hide, love it. Fav point awarded. Found icw geo buddy Mystic Seer who nailed it. With signing duties conducted it was replaced as found ready for the next geo-adventurers. Thanks goes to the CO, for this very clever cache indeed.

Quickly found after moving some hanging broken foliage out of the way. Great cache, well done. TFTC.
vk2df I found your cache Cootamundra on 5/11/20, 1:30 pm. This is my find 2805 and find # 6 today. From the hint I knew what I was looking for but still took a long time to find it. A clever cache camouflage. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN
Visited the cache today and replaced the damp & mouldy logbook with a fresh waterproof paper log sheet and a new pencil, and a new plastic bag. Happy caching everyone
Checked on the cache today, following the recent DNF, and all was found to be OK. Logbook is a little damp, but still serviceable for the time being. Will replace with a waterproof log in due course. Happy caching everyone
As of today, Friday 15th of May 2020, some of the Covid-19 social restrictions have been eased and pursuit of "recreational activities" away from your local home location is now permitted. Geocaching, which appears to fit this category, is therefore now permitted. Thanks to all those who followed the rules and did the right thing during the past six weeks of caching restrictions. Happy caching everyone
During the current Covid-19 health emergency we all need to follow our government’s directive to not leave our homes unless it’s for essential reasons. As much as we all love to go out geocaching it’s NOT regarded as an essential activity, so please resist the temptation to break the rules (law) by heading out to find & log geocaches during this period of restricted community activity.
That's clever camo, and well hidden. It took a bit of searching but eventually I spotted something out of place and revealed the cache.
Oh this one was a great camo.
After completing a bunch of jobs around the house this morning i headed up in this direction to take advantage of the good weather and find a cache or two.
At the GZ i thankfully had the area to myself so was able to search in peace.
I started with all the usual spots but came up with nothing. Extending my search area failed to help so i went back to the comments and found one that gave me an idea.
A closer check of an area I’d already went over turned up something I hadn’t spotted before and i instantly knew it was what i was searching for.
The log was a little damp but still in decent condition.
Thanks. Worth a favourite point for the effort put into the hide.

Well well... another brilliant hide. Our brains have been sorely tested over the last few hours,.Time to head home for a cups and some gardening! Thank you
Great hide, almost had me beat.
Just the “why else would that be there” that got me looking close enough.

Completed some of the Manly dam series, one the way back to the car I was passing this one. Got to GZ and so many possibilities, clue didnt really help at first then got down lower and saw something not right, screwed the wrong part first then found the right way into the cache, very clever cache.
The rest of my family isn't really into caching, so our arrangement for the day had been to have lunch together before the event. Then I would head off to the event and spend the rest of the afternoon caching, while they would go off to a nearby beach and treat themselves to large doses of UV radiation, sand in their swimmers and hefty parking fees.
After completing some of the lovely trails in the bush and picking up some great quality caches in the process, I noted that I had about half an hour before my rendezvous with the rest of the family back at the little shopping complex. And this cache was about 600 metres from there, so that was perfectly manageable, as long as it didn't turn into an extended search.
Thus, a quick stroll was taken to GZ where a bit of a search ensued. I checked the first place, but didn't notice anything that looked like a cache. Then I checked another spot which seemed to have a bit of a geotrail to it, and still didn't see anything. Hmmm, what was I looking for? The clue didn't quite reveal as much as I had hoped: I was thinking more along the lines off a coffee pot, and I usually get the Pope to mow my lawn, so how did that all fit together.
Another closer inspection of the first place I had checked, and there I noticed something I hadn't seen on my first inspection. And how fortunate that I had attended the event earlier in the day, because there I had seen exactly the same camo I was no staring at now. I also now knew how to get to the log sheet because this had been clearly explained during the demo at the event. So much easier when one knows how ...
The log sheet was soon signed and returned to its safe spot. Then I put everything back in its original state as instructed, and soon I was on my way back to my point of rendezvous, with a full 12 minutes to spare.
A great day of caching, with this being the last find. Now home to have a well-deserved shower and some supper.

This is a great find. I had to resort to reading some log and then could it be.... perhaps...must be.
Bit wet here today but some great finds today. Thanks vk2df for all the finds today.

As the weather was a bit cooler today I thought it would be a good time to check out some of the CO's caches that have received lots of accolades. After a bit of homework I settled on five that were relatively close to each other. By the end of the excusion I had four more smileys and a dnf.
This was the fourth of this CO's caches and after parking in Cootamundra Dr I thought, oh surely not a mint tin in the guard rail after the three earlier brilliant caches. Once at the guard rail I was relieved to see I had a bit further to go. It was now raining lightly so no worries about muggles in the nearby playground which is near GZ. The only thing that I could site at GZ was, after inspection, dismissed. Finding no other likely contender, I re-read some of the previous logs, one of which suggested that perhaps I should go to the other side of the fence. This I did and eventually perseverance paid off. I have no idea how the CO has placed this brilliant cache container here. Maybe they own a fluro vest. Thanks for another fun cache vk2df and a FP for sure.

Cache replaced correctly with the contents very well placed.

Housesitting up in Freshwater over Christmas New Years so a perfect time to get out and pick up some local caches. Today I decided to take down a few from some geocaching Powerhouses vk2df and Zargfinders. I did a small loop of the Manly Dam trails and picked up a few between here and Freshwater. Managed to find all of them today (although some of them had me searching for quite some time)....
This one was muggle central when I first arrived, so much like the last cache I figured I'd do a loop and finish here instead. By the time I arrived 2 hours later, more muggles! Rage! Nevertheless still managed to find and sign this one. TFTC

I missed this cache last time, so it was very sweet to avenge that dnf today. Don't know what I did differently, maybe I'm improving with practice. Anyway, I put my hand pretty much straight on the tricky little blighter!
Vk2df - you really are a most fun inventive person. Grin. Favourite point.

After watching a caching buddy win his soccer/football grand final we headed over to grab a few caches. What started out as a FOUND IT, has embarrassingly become a DNF. We spent time trying to open the wrong thing, wondering why there was no actual paper to write on. Turns out we had opened something that actually has a function in the park. Looks like a return visit for us. Oops!
Postscript: CO has confirmed we had discovered and actually part of the correct camo. The main part was on the ground. Careless cacher? So has given permission to log a FOUND IT. Thanks and this one deserves a FP too. Very, very clever disguise. Some divine intervention from a "pope" paid off in the end. TFTC

Called in on my way home from work tonight to check on the cache. Logbook was present in correct container, but things hadn't been put back correctly so just returned things to how they should be. Please replace things as you find them. Happy caching everyone.
Found the cache container. No log paper inside. Left a paper with our GC stamps on it. Messaged CO recommending cache check which was done promptly. Turns out it was all there but not replaced correctly. OCW Brewmaker and The Bebes. TFTC vk2df
I was about to give up and tried again and there it was. You now kind of need to go into the bush to find the cache as the bush is overgrown.

I had planned to hit a few of the Z trail while visiting family, but this is as far as i got. Log was a touch damp, and crammed in there, but I appreciate the effort to make something a bit different. TFTC
This was our last cache for the day, however we will be back now we know this walking trail and caches are here...TFTC

I did a few caches at Manly Dam recently and they were great. But when I had a closer look I realised the dam is literally surrounded by them! Decided it would be a perfect place to see what a full day of caching out in the bush would be like. So waited until my Xmas holidays, lined everything up and here we are...
Let me tell you, it was fantastic! I was out there for maybe 8 or 9 hours and had the most fun I've had on a day out for ages. Manly Dam is a super location and the caches were great!!
Mega thanks to zargfinders for the awesome "Zargfinders Power Trail", but also thanks to vk2df, SWAG Tim and The Vikings for their great caches too.

Very very clever! When I saw something a little out of place, part of the clue suddenly made sense to me, but I still didn't believe it could be the cache... closer inspection proved I was wrong... IT WAS! Truly amazing. TFTC!!!!

Took a while until we found something that just wasn’t quite right. Nice hide VK2df (I was once VK2FNKY back in the day).
It took 3 trips and a clue about the clue but we eventually found it! Yes, the nature around the area is bit sticky at the moment Thanks for the cache
Quick find today only managed to sign as 17 and the pen gave out. Thanks for interesting hid Cheers
This had me going for a while. In three end I had to PAF. Great camo, loved it. Favourite point from us. Master Q loved the nearby playground.

Continued on the trail after completing The Heath Track. The name caught my attention as I went to school about 50km from the town of Cootamundra.
I had the right idea at GZ but it was only after my second attempt that I found the log book. Very sneaky hide.

OCW flutterbysquishy, Rodney1210, P&Q and we happened to stumble across LestradeAU. Nice to meet you! I made the find on this cache with a small hint from a previous finder. Even with the hint I almost dismissed it as the cache until I figured out how to properly get to the log. What a cute little park, just tucked away for the locals! TFTC!
Found it... very cool. Didn't realise it was a cache until Coastblue found it. Tftc
Racing a setting sun and a dying phone battery I made my way to this cache hoping for an easy find to keep my streak alive. I found GZ and started looking in the grass to no effect. I was confused by the hint so I took to google and discovered what it more than likely meant. After some more searching I found what fit and eureka, had CIH and SL as it got dark. I dropped a part of the cache and freaked out but I found it and replaced the cache as it was. Really clever hide, well done. Cache #122, streak day 8 TFTC
I spent about 30 mins on my own looking last week but no joy. This week brought the big guns with me. We have the cache in hand within 5 mins. Thanks
Nice park, my daughter had fun playing while I was looking.
