After finding a nearby puzzle cache, CrystalFairy (and Mycro Man) and myself carried on up the hill to try and find this archived cache. After stumbling around for a bit, getting stumped, eventually a previous finder who came with us pointed it out to us - rather prominent in the end, but camouflaging nicely, and still in fantastic condition. All good here, and TFTC.
Whilst in the area we went to see if this was still there and lo and behold it is still in place and in great condition. Logged our names and headed back the way we came from. Thanks for the cache
10 October 2021 10:22 Number 10125 for me. Tried for this a few years ago, but was defeated by a dead phone battery and a lack of time. Was back up here today with GSEL, looking for other caches, and decided to give it another go, despite it showing up as archived.
Today, it virtually waved at me! The cache is in perfect condition, almost as if it was placed yesterday. TFTC, it's been a long time coming.

jojo&dobby is no longer caching so this cache is not being monitored or maintained. I'm in the process of letting the reviewer know to archive them as jojo&dobby's premium membership has lapsed so can no longer access them. Apologies for any inconvenience and happy caching .

Found with Pat and John on a Sunday explore of the area. Very cool cache - thank you. All in good order.
A lovely area to cache in and a reserve I had never visited before. Had a great walk through the reserve finding a lot of different caches along the way. This cache was the one that took me the longest to find today, I was quite surprised when I finally spotted it. I did have a bit of trepidation retrieving the logbook, but all was good. Decided to continue on my way to the end of the track as I was enjoying my walk through this beautiful area, and not think too much about the threat of falling trees! TFTC
I really like how much thought you put in placing your caches. They're all cool in their own way. Thanks for placing the cache
It is in a pipe attached to a tree with a black lid just up from the cross section
Very well hidden this one, lucky I brought a second set of eyes with me. Eventually we saw it from the right angle and the log was extracted......! Thanks for the fun
It's amazing where we will put our hands in search of cache or log book! This one had a great 'feel' about it and only one of us was going in, the other sees weta at every turn in areas like this! Great placement and clever set up too. Tftc
Cache spotted on approach - just happened to be looking in exactly the right direction. With the cache top off and an interesting view, I took the plunge and retrieved the log. No fingers were nibbled on in the process so I either didn't disturb any critters or I was just plain lucky. Another nicely constructed cache and another FP easily awarded. Thankyou
With a group of fellow west Aucklanders Merlot58, Aiden29 and Bertie Blowfish To attend the MEGA and for a fun long Labour weekend’s caching. Thanks to all the cache owners for setting up and maintaining the caches. Sorry for cut and paste logs. After spreading out we soon found the cache. Another Fp awarded
I’m in the Windy City to attend the Wellington Mega with a few fellow Westies from Auckland. We’re having a great time as we explore the area collecting smileys as we go. Thanks for bringing us here, sorry for the copy and paste logs but am using a Cachly template to log as I go. Ooh, the touch, feely experience was weird FP given
Down in the Capital for an extra long weekend before exams start, with Jag50, Merlot58 & Bertie Blowfish. We were staying just down the road and thought this would be a good brisk walk for the morning to warm up. Didn't quite realise how many steps there would be. Merlot did the honours of extracting the cache.
Lol, i was quite happy to watch thescoobydoos sort this one out, having beaten me to the find. I’ve never seen one like this before, great idea! Tftc
After MEGA registration, a morning walk in the Forest and Bird Ecclesfield Reserve and Wi Tako scenic reserve. Gorgeous beech forest, a lovely track and delightful caches - a highlight of our visit. Mrs D scoffed at the write-up with a big pinch of salt - after all, this isn't Australia - but once the top was off and the decision had to be made, she recoiled in horror and could only poke tentatively with a stick. Luckily Mr D took the plunge and retrieved the essential logbook, but it sounds as though it wasn't a pleasant experience. Then back to the main track and downwards along the ridge.
In Wellington for WENZ 2018 Mega Event. Scary one! Didn't want to put my hand inside ... TFTC! FP
We tried and tried but could not get the top off this one. Pity because judging from the outside of the container the inside would be a treat.
Nice quick find and another fun container. No one else around so it was okay for me to look scared!
Another great cache in this series, which are boys thought was a lot of fun. Only one of them trusted themselves enough to put their hand in....TFTC
I made yet another visit to this park today. This time I had my running gear on and made a double loop. What a lot of fun.
I stopped here for a look on the second time around. Took me a lot longer than it should have to find it, mainly due to approaching from the wrong side. Anyway, it was good to find it in the end.
The cache is in good condition. All nice and dry.
Thank you

This was a bit scary - should I, shouldn't I? In the end I did stick my hand down the hole. Team geocacher Mr. T was highly amused. Thanks for the cache (I think). Another FP awarded.
Last one after quite a walk up collecting numerous caches on a family outing. The 6 yr old was straight in despite the creepy crawly warning. Tftc.
I didn’t want to put my hand in there. But took a deep breath and just did it. Track is closed further on so will head back.
Fifth cache on the track up from the southern end today. Beautiful beech forest and very peaceful up here. After finding the nicely camouflaged cache, I summoned up the chutzpah and retrieved the log. Brought a smile to my face. TFTC
I'm stuck in Trentham for three days and two nights doing some training with the NZDF and nothing to do in the evenings... apart from some geocaching. By the time I had finished dinner, darkness had well and truly set in, so what was I to do... apart from geocaching. So after getting changed into some appropriate attire and grabbing a torch and a couple of GPS enabled devices, I headed into the hills behind Trentham and Silverstream for some night time caching. Boy that darkness certainly adds an extra dimension when you are caching in the bush.
I headed out at 6.30pm (or 1830 hours as it is known around here) Starting near the Rimutaka prison and came off the track three hours later in Silvestream. In that time I managed to get eight caches in the bush and another two urban caches, totalling ten in all with only one DNF.
After having supper at Maccas, I then took the short train trip back to camp returning just before 2300 hours, all-in-all a pleasant and sometimes terrifying way to spend an evening, especially when getting disorientated trying to find the trail after grabbing those off-track caches in the dark.
It didn't take too long to find the cache here. It is amazing how artificial light at night picks up things that natural light during the day doesn't, and this was the case with most of the finds I made tonight. Another advantage of caching at night with a torch (although I wish I had brought my headlamp along as well), is that I could look into the hide and get an excellent view of what was actually there and fortunately tonight, there was nothing to dissuade me from putting my hand in and the paperwork was soon completed.

Took us a while to find this one, no reason accept that its cleverly hidden
Oldest two children were reluctant to plunge their hands in, but Miss 4 just dived straight in, right up to her armpit, fishing for the cache container itself. Very cool.

Enjoying this track through Eccelsfield Reserve. This one took me the longest to find, but worth the effort. Loved the container.

Haha this one made me laugh a lot. My little man also grossed out putting his hand in. This was out best day cacheing ever
A week of earthquakes and storms and now this. No wonder my nerves are shot. Plucked up enough courage and dived on in. Very pleased to say I survived the ordeal LOL. Cheers and TFTC
I was in the area for the weekend and the nearby trail was on my radar as I needed some different D/T ratings to complete a challenge.
Spotted the cache easily enough but once I took the cap off the fun began. I kind of wished I had my partner or daughter with me!! Such a weird feeling and an awesome cache. Another one of my FP's for you jojo&dobby.
Thanks for the cache and the smiley.

Took a deep breath before grabbing this. Still got all my digits. This cache may need to be disabled for a while because there are track closure notices due to falling trees - or maybe this is not in one of the closure areas, the signage was a bit vague.
Took a few minutes to find - lucky the lid was well sealed so no issue putting a hand in to get access to the log book.
Cycled up from Melling with an overcast and threatening sky. We had not visited Ecclesfield Reserve previously and what a joy it. Wonderful beech trees and regenerating rimu. We must admit it was only after poking with a stick and then some hesitation that we delved into this cache and with relief we not bitten or stung. A lot of fun and its a shame that this and the other three are not found more frequently. TFTC
Oops we did find it and am not too sure on how to remove the DNF.

Cache # 3,292 - A third favourite in a row! Great cache on a beautiful morning with GeoKelpie. Only took a moment's hesitation to enter into the container and retrieve the logbook. Signed and returned. What a great series up here. Thank you! TNLN.
A whistle stop tour of the North Island on a work trip with a ferry sailing in, an afternoon on the ground, overnight nearby followed by an hour of caching Tuesday arvo, then a ferry back to the Mainland in the evening. So a plan was hatched, the maps were checked and a likely looking route was mapped out to head up into the 'hills' overlooking Silverstream and walk a loop of geocaches! Had pre-solved a couple of Puzzle caches prior (with some assistance in some cases), though in the end only managed to find one of the tickets please ones. A combination of poor looking, not-thereness, and dodgy solutions had me missing out on a few. Still easily managed to grab around 20 caches, with some absolute pearlers up on the ridge well deserving of some of my F Ps. Thanks to all the C O s who placed.
Upon approaching this one wasn't sure what to expect having read some logs. In for a penny as the saying goes, and the prize was soon mine and the F P yours.

I was very brave and plunged my arm all the way in. Fortunately I found the cache and not a furry object with eight legs.
Our plan was to continue on to "Jack Lived Here" and then decide whether to complete the circuit to Chatsworth Road (with a road walk back to the car) or return to Pinehaven Road. We took the wrong route at a junction and Jack started running away from us. Rain and 9 degrees was forecast for the afternoon so we returned the way we had come, getting back to the car just as the heavy rain started.
We'll find Jack another day. All other caches on this route have been found.

TFTC I went for a walk from here through Witako Reserve to Ecclesfield reserve. Quite a challenge for my old knees.I did enjoy the walk and the caches on the way.
Completing a hike circuit near home. An interesting find this one. A fun creative cache. Now the decision, and that was to continue but we went wrong and ended coming out way up Blue Mountains Road. Haha, the hike was a little longer than planned. TFTC
Lmao and plunged the arm in. Walked from one end to the other and picked up all the caches along the way, thanks for your efforts.
My decision here was to continue searching or carry on in the hope of quickly finding the other caches on my agenda today so I had time to look again on my return journey. I decided to stay and must have spend at least 20 minutes here. I persevered in following what my GPSr was telling me and I eventually spotted something that didn't belong. Great work, jojo&dobby.
#1237 I headed up the hill and made my decision. Rather than get the first cache I came across I decided to carry on and leave the lower ones for another day.
When I arrived in vicinity of GZ my GPSR was bouncing all over the place. One moment I was 11m away, I moved 2m and I was 3m away. I ferreted around for a while and eventually found the likely spot for a log book.
After deciding to reach in to the hole I finally found the log book and completed all of the required paperwork. Log replaced into container and all left as found.
This cache was really creative - enjoyed the walk up and finding the cache. This one gets a favourite point from me - thanks Jojo and Dobby for placing this one and thanks for the smilie.

Again nicely made with a few gimmicks very well camouflaged indeed. TFTC. Sherlock Hood.
Yes, this is certainly a nice bit of forest. Couldn't decide which way to go, so did both options: first went down to the water talks and the Arundel Way entrance, then came back up and took the path that went further up the ridge. TFTC.
Awesome idea! Could potentially be pretty scary for some people.. luckily we didn't see any real creepy crawlies though TFTC and another FP
I was brave! We were so engrossed in the cache we made the wrong decision on tracks and had to back track. Love your cache work, really fun, and brilliantly executed. Thank you!
[green] Took the day off work in Blenheim to come for a job interview in Trentham. And some geocaching, of course. Took the little island hopper over - I was the only passenger on board! On the way back it was full up - every seat was taken. Got to Trentham, job interview went great (but I am one of three on the short list, so I'll find out later). It not even lunchtime, and the plane leaves at 5pm. Yep, its Geocaching Time!!
Which direction was very much a non-decision. There are no caches there! (hint hint) And of course the other decision was a non-decision too. Gets a favourite, a path tag and an emerald from me.
And then I headed off... in the wrong direction! I was about 100m down the track before I realised it was not going to turn back towards the cache. Which meant I had to turn around instead.

Went past it at first, blends very well! Wasn't too scared to stick my hand in it though!
Decisions, decisions! What to do? Eventually found required spot (took much longer than it should) then in went the hand. Success!!!! Grabbed the TB. Thanks for the cache and another fav point.
another cool find. Claimed one Tb and dropped off lovely geocoin. Took a while to claim this one as phone took a while to settle down but once it did and I opened my eyes we found it. Thanks for bringing me and my chicks along this track. I'm pleased it was well formed even though muddy in places (all part of the fun!). TFTC
#1086. I can see that jojo spends her spare time working on craft projects and clearly walks a lot in the hidden woods of Middle Earth. Another delightful and cleverly built cache. If I score a surplus of favourites some stage I will try and remember to come back to these caches to hand out more favourites. This one was a bit off the beaten trail and I wandered around with the GPS for a short time. Once at the GZ I suddenly saw the well hidden object. Had the whole family along today and decided to test the fear factor of Miss E. She is a plucky lass and soon had the cache in hand. Log was dry and quickly signed. Mr GSEL probed the deep recesses to see if any hidden TB were lurking inside the pit. Suddenly we spied two sprightly hobbits walking along the track. They saw us and ran off into the woods. Later we sprung them again and discovered in fact they were land turtles venturing far away from their Tararua abode. A weta TB was left behind for the adventurous to seek (seemed a good fit with the cache page images). TFTC
Sunday trip up the valley. Our eye on a series of caches in and around Silverstream and environs.
Much enjoyed the GSEL log. Particularly the bit that refers to 'sprightly'! Ha, I wish.
The cache was a straightforward find, but not for the faint hearted. All in order; log signed, then re-hidden safely, just as found. Obviously we didn't probe enough, we failed to encounter the weta TB dropped off (in!), by team GSEL.
Good fun this one. Gets a fave.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

By now we were on a roll: first 'Two Little Dicky Birds' and then the most excellent 'Bilbo's Retreat'. Having pre-read the logs for this one we approached GZ with some trepidation. I am happy to say that I easily found the well disguised cache through some Geo-awareness sense, even though the Garmin was a little vague as to its whereabouts, and not being scared of much easily made the first decision and plunged my hand into the depths to search for the container. Nothing too creepy today, though it felt a little odd, and the container was soon in hand and log extracted, signed and the whole lot returned to being the way it had all started. Another very good 'cache-for-the-kids' from CO and another FP, my third for her today. Then we quickly made the next Decision: head for 'Jack Lives Here' to collect the full set. TFTC
Found after a very enjoyable day's motorsport with the car club in Trentham.
Took a while to spot this one as the GPS was wondering around all over the place. Was tempted to use a torch to see the cache a bit more clearly and then decided that wasn't in keeping with the spirit of the cache so I just dived in. Glad I did - was a great experience. A unique and very enjoyable cache. TFTC.

#6642. Parked at the entrance to Ecclesfield Reserve for what turned out to be a nice circular hike to Witako Scenic Reserve. Easy walk up Rangi’s Track and then onto the unmarked route. Always good to explore new territories. Did not encounter anybody else on the entire journey. Interesting to see a bush roundabout up here. GZ was all quiet. Quick find. Very well camouflaged hide. Having brought our heavy duty gloves, no problem making the first decision. The cache was in excellent condition, and enjoyed the lights. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.
Now time to make the second decision. Not wanting to return the way we came, we decided to carry on to see where the route led to. A nice trek eventually took us down to Chichester Drive. A short walk along Fendalton Crescent and Blue Mountains Road got us back to the car.
Thanks for the cache.

Spent a bit of time in the area this afternoon to hunt out the new caches here. Came on to here from the dicky birds cache, lovely walking through the beech forest. Wandered around a little before spotting the nicely camouflaged target - I certainly wouldn't class that as a micro! Managed to extract the cache container without getting my arm chewed off by the inhabitants, they must have been all asleep today Signed log, thanks for the cache and for bringing me here. Gets a favourite point for the location and the imaginative construction.
Put hands (and poked sticks) into many cobwebs and spidery places before we got this one. Not helped by GPS which was pointing all over the place until we were right over GZ, then spent a little while investigating something else, when I spotted it. Very good camoflage! TFTC
Found the cache after a small search and the GPS making the final DECISION where the cache should be. Then the DECISION had to be made will I be game enough to open the cache with all those crawlies on top. Had a good laugh and admired the thought that had gone into creating such a great cache. Uplifted TB Dog tag - Who let the dog out. No PC5D75 Signed log and replaced as found.
Very cool cache, well worth the trek in, added a few trinkets and a geocoin, thanks for the find
