#50 Number 7 cache for a quick after school geocaching adventure, be back another day to finish the trail off
We are slowly making our way to St Arnaud via a number of smaller towns and stopping at Maldon for lunch. We enjoyed eating lunch at the Gold Exchange Caf Restaurant so much last time, we thought we would stop there again. It didn't disappoint. Google Maps might say it takes less than an hour between these towns, but somehow, it keeps taking us 2 hours. However, we are now getting closer to our target of 20 geocaches in all Victorian LGAs, hitting more in Mt Alexander, Central Goldfields, Loddon, and our new LGA of Northern Grampians. Failed to see this one the first time looking, and then I rushed off to another site. Spotted it on a second look. Thanks for the cache, Team Ninja.Hunter
Cache was found out of it's hide in the open, Looks like a resident rabbit or fox my have done some house cleaning. Cache was in good condition and placed back in it's hide.
A short trip up to Maldon and Heathcote this weekend grabbing a few caches on the way.Rode the rail trails this morning, firstly towards Castlemaine, and then Maldon going north west. All the cache were there, but most need some TLC. Mostly wet logs and damaged containers. This is a fair way from Pollard station! Thanks, Robmc.
An unusual situation for us instead of being in lovely warm Queensland we are hiding around cold old Victoria. Medical reasons and caravan repairs have us staying here and we will be looking forward to finding as many caches as possible while we are here. SL TFTC
Out and about in the Maldon area again and it was time to finish this series. Next stop along the way and again the cache was found without issue and the log signed. Good day to be our driving these roads.
Thanks again Team Ninja....cache all good.

What a clever wee hide. In perfect & dry condition too. The local commuters took particular interest in us Many thanks
What's the saying close but no cigar.
Enjoying the trail but not achieving finding them

Another week of the school holidays means more fun, adventure and geocaching of course with both kids while camping at Maldon in the caravan. The new driver drove up to this one, took a bit to find. A tricky hide this one is. Well done. Found by AK at 12:47pm
This is pretty interesting history, local from the area. Never knew or heard of this.
We headed out for a day trip and decided this area was a great quiet location.
The winter day we got was just amazing, sunny and a delight to be geocaching in.
Thank you for placing this geocache for us to find.
Looked where the new fence is initially but made the find closer to the road, its still there!

Caching in the area we were able to finish off the SL series after running out of time on our last visit here. Starting backwards we worked our way down to Floodway, enjoying the remnants of the old abandoned railway that each cache had to show us.
The first thing we noticed on approach was the culvert then the cache hide
Thanks AussieTrainDriver for highlighting this historic railway line.

May not be a kings ransom but one gold Coin, a mini scrunchy and a rubber would likely buy something royal

The day dawned a bit cooler today in Saint Arnaud.
We started out doing some of the StArs geo art, but then headed of to Bendigo for a baby sitting day tomorrow.
On the way we deviated to get Forte's Ground, and then some very enjoyable caches nearer Bendigo,

A much cooler morning in Maldon after much rain overnight. We thought to find some more of the SL series before we head home to Wangaratta. A whole herd of 4 legged muggles kept a close watch on us as we SL at 9.24am. #6187 TFTC AussieTrainDriver
Maryborough to Maldon staying at Butts Reserve
After setting up camp we decided to begin the SL trail starting from the end.
We glimpsed many sections of the abandoned railway line. Enjoyed our day travelling the country side.

No snakes or creepy crawlies today thankfully. Thanks Team_Ninja, found with Motndarg today.
A quick grab and we were on our way on this interesting run of caches thanks Team_ninja.
Found quickly by side of the road and we too were impressed with the wooden culvert.

On a well earned break in Castlemaine and I’m spending the time just touring the whole area, enjoying the sites and picking up caches as I go.
You can tell the roads did not follow the railway line.
Thanks Team_Ninja TFTC TFTS.

TFTC and for sharing the history of this particular Rail Line. Er had completed some of the SL series caches from the Maldon end a week or so ago. Being a nice day for a drive we decide to complete the series , starting form this end . We could then circle from Maryborough to Maldon and then back to Maryborough without having to do any back tracking.=For the most part we found the caches without too much drama. One of the multis gave us a bit of trouble, more of that in the log for that particular cache. A great series and worthy of a favorite from us.
Even in this country area they still went to a lot of trouble to get the railway line as flat as possible. TFTC and taking us to a place we would normally not have visited.
On a day out with Wozzle68 and MazzyMay with the idea of getting the 100 for the month. At the start of the day we thought we would be fighting the rain but as the day went on it turned out to be OK . TFTC.
Maldon was the target for today's caching foray in the company of Wozzle68 and Dippa46, we had a wonderful day investigating the area, getting a lot of exercise, more than necessary in some cases, but fun nevertheless. Really enjoying the series. TFTC
Caching the Maldon area today with MazzyMay and Dippa46 trying to chalk up a few virtual souvenirs. The rain threatened to spoil our day early on but soon cleared up and turned into a great day for it. Thanks for the hide AussieTrainDriver!
This one was a race to find the correct tree stump and took a couple of minutes to locate. Thanks
Over Lannecoorie way today and I decided on a few caches on the way home. What a great little series. Beautiful country roads, colour birds everywhere and a bright blue sky. Many thanks for the caches
Continuing me tour of the branch line,
I had already visited Pollard
Here at Not Pollard I wandered around to find the cache
And had to have a peek at the culvert too !!
They built things to last back then !!
(Unless the termites ate them) [;P]

I thought I'd make the most of my one day off and this beautiful weather to go out and find the SL Series, starting from The End and working my way back. I loved the history and the amount of work gone into creating this series.
Found at 12.38pm. Nice area. Feeling very thankful that I've not come across any creepy crawlies today! All good at GZ. Thank you for the cache Team Ninja

Suscoe headed north very early this morning for a day of caching around the Maldon and Newstead area.
We left home in steady drizzle but by the time we crossed the divide the sky eased up a bit. For the remainder of the day we had sunny skies with the occasional cloud and a generous southerly wind blowing which kept temperatures in the high teens and low twenties.
The country is pretty dry around here but we were pleased to report that grass seeds are not as bad here compared to the North East and even Castlemaine.
We enjoyed this Maldon - Shelbourne railway trail and had a terrific morning making our way from The End to The Beginning.
A big thank you to Team Ninja for a very well researched set of Cache notes and for sharing this knowledge with us.
While travelling to this cache we were listening to an interview with the grandson of Sydney Myer, what an amazingly generous family !!!!!!!
There was a close by local connection for that family too.

Southern Cross Caching
A 4 day trip from Adelaide to Everton, Beechworth and surrounds.
8 of South Australia's finest caching teams came across the border Freddo, Team Astro, The White Dog Gang, Four Fun, Unicycle, Southern Cross Caching, Shonkloic, and Team Waldron hit the bike trails and country back roads.
It wasn't nice the the mozzies were sent to defend the ceches against us but we persisted.
On the way home we visited Bendigo, St Arnaud and many towns in between.
Many thanks to all the cache owners who put out caches for us to find.
A great time was had and we left enough to make another trip worthwhile.

We CAME. We CACHED. We SAW STUFF. Eight South Australian caching teams on the prowl in Lake Victoria. We were attacked by vampire mosquitoes. We were attacked by rogue magpies. We were attacked by brown snakes. We were attacked by running kangaroos. We were attacked by publicans and cooks. In the end we got the message and went home, but not before finding lots of hidden cachey things using billions of dollars of satellites and cheap hand-held devices.
Found on an awesome trip with the SAW STUFF boys (Shonky, Astro[me], Waldron, Southern Cross, Whitedog, Unicycle, Freddo & Four-Fun). The trip had it all including this awesome cache. There were pots and schooners (no pints) , mazzive mozzies the size of small elephants we hitched rides on , realistic lizards, real live [xx(] kangaroos that got too close and uphills. Then there were bikes and pumps. There was sweat and dust but no tears. My thanks to the group and the coordination that enabled an amazing fun filled few days that will go down in caching-lore. [^]
Thanks to Team_Ninja and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet!
One of many fun finds on along the way on the "SAW STUFF" road trip to central Victoria with Shonki, Astro, Waldron, Southern cross, Twdg, Uni & Freddo [^]

Bendigo Cup Day and the Sisterhood of the Cargo Pants were off on a day out. We had lots of fun except for the damn mosquitoes everywhere.
Because we all live in Bendigo we started from The End and worked our way towards Maldon

Unfortunately one of the sisters got a rude surprise when she opened this container as it was full of stinky water, maintenance needed, unable to sign log book.
Find #1083 for me. A big puddle blocked McKnights Road on the way in. Not wanting to risk taking my 2WD hatchback through it, I took a short detour via Nuggety School Road, Nuggety Road and Pollards Road. Once at GZ I had a quick find. Thanks for the cache and the series Team_Ninja!
This is our 12th cache find today still have some more to go .
Easy find signed and replaced. TFTC.

Good old Wiki, (in)famous for its mistakes! Thanks for the correction, and bringing us here. Another wonderful country vista.
Found at 1550 with JulieNicholson8. Amazing views, lovely little bridge from the railway line era. TNLN TFTC!
Working backwards towards Maldon rather than from it, I ended up doing the whole SL series, rather than my initial plan of 5 or 6. Found, signed and returned to its hiding spot. Thanks to Team Ninja for a great series, full of history, lots of quiet roads, and great positioning of hides, where the car could be safely parked off the roads.
My sister had to be picked up in Castlemaine so we (neisha07, chan02 & becca85) continued on to cache the looong way home. We took roads we never would have before, visited cool places and found some great caches. A great arvo. TFTC
Took the scenic route home from Castlemaine to Maryborough and grabbed most of the SL series in Maldon with a few others on our way. Found with becca865, boo09 & neisha07. Lots of fun. TFTC!
I have an aim to hit 999 cache finds this week to make the Skipton Cave Event my 1000th.
This is easier said than done when I have found all within 40 minutes of home.
Today we needed to be in Castlemaine so figured we would take a detour home... With neisha07, chan02 & boo09 in tow, the 45 minute trip took us 4 hours...
We grabbed a few on the back road to Maldon before stopping for some afternoon tea then taking the SL trail to Laane then home.
A nice dent made in the numbers and unexplored roads discovered. TFTC
