#70 creative little cache! One more to go in the series for us, but definitely too late in the day to spend the time searching for the last one. Well be back soon. What an adventure it has been tracking the old railway line. TFTC
We are slowly making our way to St Arnaud via a number of smaller towns and stopping at Maldon for lunch. We enjoyed eating lunch at the Gold Exchange Caf Restaurant so much last time, we thought we would stop there again. It didn't disappoint. Google Maps might say it takes less than an hour between these towns, but somehow, it keeps taking us 2 hours. However, we are now getting closer to our target of 20 geocaches in all Victorian LGAs, hitting more in Mt Alexander, Central Goldfields, Loddon, and our new LGA of Northern Grampians. Bit confused by the name of the geocache and the DT rating. Didn't really seem to be much of an embankment, and we found this container very quickly as soon as I looked at the right tree, even before Huntress got to theGZ.Thanks for the cache, Team Ninja.Hunter
Found the blue after a short search then located the cache out from it's hiding spot. Signed the log and placed it back. Cache and log in good condition.
I was spending a few days in Geelong after attending the Capital City Geobash in Canberra and I decided to do a day trip to Castlemaine grabbing caches along the way. Thank you AussieTrainDriver for placing and maintaining this cache..
After initially finding ourselves on the wrong side of the road, we corrected our mistake and the cache was soon in hand. Thanks for placing.
Out and about today in the Maldon area with Glanville Girls converting a few caches to smiles. Thanks for placing for our enjoyment.
A short trip up to Maldon and Heathcote this weekend grabbing a few caches on the way.Rode the rail trails this morning, firstly towards Castlemaine, and then Maldon going north west. All the cache were there, but most need some TLC. Mostly wet logs and damaged containers.I was looking around for the old track, and then spotted it in the distance!Lovely view across the green paddocks atm. Thanks, Robmc.
An unusual situation for us instead of being in lovely warm Queensland we are hiding around cold old Victoria. Medical reasons and caravan repairs have us staying here and we will be looking forward to finding as many caches as possible while we are here. SL TFTC
Out and about in Maldon again and it was time to finish this series. Grass was really long...and green...so the hint was very much appreciated. Log was soon signed and I was on my way.
Thanks for the cache Team Ninja....cache all good.

Got the wee gem!! What a great container. Just shows what a wee bit of thought can produce
There's a new track going in directly opposite, I'm sure the grader driver must've wondered what I was up to. The chopper is still doing laps so I pretended to be watching it
Many thanks

First time caching after the recent heavy rain. Cache in good dry condition. TFTC
Another week of the school holidays means more fun, adventure and geocaching of course with both kids while camping at Maldon in the caravan. Easy drive by, which was found by JK at 12:56pm in 2secs flat. Caching stilling good nice. No problems.

The trip from the Bellarine to Bendigo today could be called a retro drive! Not our usual dash up the Calder, but following the Midland, which gave us the perfect opportunity for collecting a few smiley tokens. After a failure to find at the overpass, it was great to make a quick find here.
Thanks AussieTrainDriver for another rail series..

Sorry, we were on a Sunday drive back this way and realised we had found this back in June 2020 with Gemma !
We headed out for a day trip and decided this area was a great quiet location.
The winter day we got was just amazing, sunny and a delight to be geocaching in.
Thank you for placing this geocache for us to find.

A day trip to Maldon with the oldest geokid today to nab a few caches with friends from school, JollyWanderers (newbie cachers). Another DNF from 3 years ago revenged! Great trail. Many thanks.
Great view from here,we can see for miles.. better go home as we can see the rain in the distance..liked the cache something different tftc
Caching in the area we were able to finish off the SL series after running out of time on our last visit here. Starting backwards we worked our way down to Floodway, enjoying the remnants of the old abandoned railway that each cache had to show us.
This little micro was quickly spotted while we admired the view of the raised embankments.
Thanks AussieTrainDriver for highlighting this historic railway line.

The day dawned a bit cooler today in Saint Arnaud.
We started out doing some of the StArs geo art, but then headed of to Bendigo for a baby sitting day tomorrow.
On the way we deviated to get Forte's Ground, and then some very enjoyable caches nearer Bendigo,

I headed back to this beaut outlook today
This is where I failed to find a cache one day
I was determined that the frownie,
would be turned into a smilie,
And after a forensic search the cache came me way
More like a 10¢ piece methinks

Sadly the only blue thing I will be seeing after all the clover is a sad face
A much cooler morning in Maldon after much rain overnight. We thought to find some more of the SL series before we head home to Wangaratta. SL at 9.12am We were impressed by the high embankment. #6185 TFTC AussieTrainDriver
Maryborough to Maldon staying at Butts Reserve
After setting up camp we decided to begin the SL trail starting from the end.
We glimpsed many sections of the abandoned railway line. Enjoyed our day travelling the country side.

This was a DNF for me a few years ago. I was pleased to find the cache as soon as we rocked up to GZ. Thanks Team_ninja, found with Motndarg today.
Out today with McLookers who had this cache found before I got out of the car. Signed and away, thanks Team Ninja.
A quick grab and we were on our way on this interesting run of caches thanks Team_ninja.
On a well earned break in Castlemaine and I’m spending the time just touring the whole area, enjoying the sites and picking up caches as I go.
Still nice and quiet on the roads and this little sneaky cache had me looking in a few spots.
Thanks Team_Ninja TFTC TFTS.

TFTC and for sharing the history of this particular Rail Line. Er had completed some of the SL series caches from the Maldon end a week or so ago. Being a nice day for a drive we decide to complete the series , starting form this end . We could then circle from Maryborough to Maldon and then back to Maryborough without having to do any back tracking.=For the most part we found the caches without too much drama. One of the multis gave us a bit of trouble, more of that in the log for that particular cache. A great series and worthy of a favorite from us.
We had not read the clue for this one, only the description of the size of a 20c piece. When we located the little bligher is was the diameter of a 10c piece. A great hide and a Greta location.

Finally!
Have stopped here 4 times when around the area and that clover always did me over.
Today after some owner intervention it has been found!
Thanks for a tricky cache, glad to finally sign a brand new log.

Checked on this one today, no wonder no one has been able to find it as the thick clover that has shot up around here makes it near impossible to find an already difficult cache. I have provided a new slightly easier but still evil micro cache here.
Another try at finding this pesky cache
With all available info read and digested,
I thought I was in with a chance of a find here
No such luck !!

We have been back to this one four times,,,,,cannot find it,,,,,wondering if it is still there,,,,tarrengower, 22 October, 17
Checked on this one today, it was still there but was VERY well hidden. I moved some of the grass away so it's a bit more visible.
I thought I'd make the most of my one day off and this beautiful weather to go out and find the SL Series, starting from The End and working my way back. I loved the history and the amount of work gone into creating this series.
OK...happy feeling has gone! I spent waaaaaaaaay too long trying to find this sneaky little beast as my gps was jumping all over the place. In the end I gave up and was heading to the next cache when I thought, no...I'm not going to let it get the better of me, so I turned back and had another look. Then I PAF...a few friends actually...and finally I found it just as a message came through to let me know what to look for. SO relieved! So sneaky! Thank you for the cache Team Ninja

Found with Tassydevil. I had looked for this previously and was very pleased to find this cache. A clever disguise. Thanks
Suscoe headed north very early this morning for a day of caching around the Maldon and Newstead area.
We left home in steady drizzle but by the time we crossed the divide the sky eased up a bit. For the remainder of the day we had sunny skies with the occasional cloud and a generous southerly wind blowing which kept temperatures in the high teens and low twenties.
The country is pretty dry around here but we were pleased to report that grass seeds are not as bad here compared to the North East and even Castlemaine.
We enjoyed this Maldon - Shelbourne railway trail and had a terrific morning making our way from The End to The Beginning.
A big thank you to Team Ninja for a very well researched set of Cache notes and for sharing this knowledge with us.
After the recent DNF's we were not sure what we would find here, so we contacted the CO and checked what we were looking for in case it was missing.
Great to see that it was there after we looked for while.
A sneaky hide.

I'm deleting my found log for this one. It looks like I mistakenly logged the find. My companions say it we did not find it, but it may have been a Did Not Attempt. There was a long time between this log and the previous, indicating we might have spent some time looking.
Sorry about the mistake - it was a full on weekend and there were bound to be some, and the finds are all a blur now.

Bendigo Cup Day and the Sisterhood of the Cargo Pants were off on a day out. We had lots of fun except for the damn mosquitoes everywhere.
Because we all live in Bendigo we started from The End and worked our way towards Maldon. we looked in a lot of places for a long time, in the end we called a previous finder and with a bit weeding we soon found it. All I can say to future seekers is - trust the coordinates.

This one was proving very tricky with the grass very long. I wonder what passing motorists thought we were doing, must've looked like we were doing some weeding. It got the better of us and so we had to phone a friend who was at least able to tell us what we were looking for, and after a bit more weeding, the difficult cache was recovered. TFTC
Find #1085 for me. This was a quick find, no doubt made easier by following the geo-tracks of the previous finders! Great scenery in this area too. Thanks for the cache Team_Ninja!
Took a bit longer to find this one with all the grass almost gave up then Mr AFS
found it. Tricky hide, clever. Signed and replaced. TFTC.

We stomped around in the thick new growth grass for a while with no luck. I think if the grass was less lush we might have fared better.
This one had us going! We were searching high and low, all over the shop until the Moose read the notes more carefully and we were able to narrow the search. By this time the weather had closed in and a bitterly cold wind was biting through us and the spots of rain were coming down. Thankfully we found it after a while, in a container that I actually had wondered about quite early on in the search. Thanks for the challenge!
Found at 1610 with JulieNicholson8. Clever little hide! Found it with one flick. Lambs out, birds singing. Beautiful winter's day for caching! Awesome views. TNLN TFTC!
Working backwards towards Maldon rather than from it, I ended up doing the whole SL series, rather than my initial plan of 5 or 6. Found, signed and returned to its hiding spot. Thanks to Team Ninja for a great series, full of history, lots of quiet roads, and great positioning of hides, where the car could be safely parked off the roads.
Searched for awhile for this sneaky hide but got it with the old " just one more look " . Thanks Team Ninja .
I stopped off to get this cache after overshooting it earlier, cache #565 and the last for this area for today. a tricky little hide but I soon discovered its cover and had log signed and replaced. Thanks for the history and the cache. Team_Ninja
Took a few minutes to get this one. Followed the clues and Emthegem soon had it in hand. Found with emthegem and wickedfizz. Tftc.
Another find in this afternoons cache finding sojourn. Again had been here on a previous occasion with no luck. Today with the replacement cache in situ it was an easier find. Thanks Team Ninja for the hide.
My sister had to be picked up in Castlemaine so we (neisha07, chan02 & becca85) continued on to cache the looong way home. We took roads we never would have before, visited cool places and found some great caches. A great arvo. TFTC
Took the scenic route home from Castlemaine to Maryborough and grabbed most of the SL series in Maldon with a few others on our way. Found with becca865, boo09 & neisha07. Lots of fun. TFTC!
I have an aim to hit 999 cache finds this week to make the Skipton Cave Event my 1000th.
This is easier said than done when I have found all within 40 minutes of home.
Today we needed to be in Castlemaine so figured we would take a detour home... With neisha07, chan02 & boo09 in tow, the 45 minute trip took us 4 hours...
We grabbed a few on the back road to Maldon before stopping for some afternoon tea then taking the SL trail to Laane then home.
A nice dent made in the numbers and unexplored roads discovered. TFTC

A nice neat hide in a spot with a good view. I am really enjoying the trip through here and your informative cache notes and photos too.

Back in action. Looks like the tree the cache was previously under has been removed and the cache likely buried in the process. The new cache is in a slightly different location and is a different colour, so slightly easier to spot.
