We went on a 5-week road trip trough New Zealand. We saw and experienced an incredible amount in this beautiful country. Of course, we didn't miss out on geocaching either. This will probably be the most southern cache I will ever log.
The post thru-hike doldrums have not yet hit me after completing the Te Araroa.. what do I do when I no longer have to walk all day? I only had to walk about 10km today and I can't sit around drinking beer all day... well this cache is only a couple of kilometres further on, and it technically appears to be even further south than the signpost at Stirling Point.More tragically, in the absence of walking purpose, I realised that if i complete this section of the Foveaux walkway and then back up bluff Hill and then down the roadway back to town I will have then walked all of the circumference of bluff plus walked each of the paths to the middle of Bluff. What is wrong with me? Of course I did just that. Unsurprisingly, none of my Te Araroa tramping cohort opted to join me. Johan still finds it hilarious that I found one geocache on the 3029km walk from Cape Reinga, let alone hundreds of them. Meet you at the pub guys!It didn't take too long to get to GZ and unlike Lands End (muggle central) I had the area to myself. It took me a few minutes and eventually found the wee container, scribbling my name in the log. Thanks rentdi29 for hiding this cache here, it is now definitively my most southern cache find. Cheers! Great to have a smiley at thos Point on the geo map of Aotearoa.-- This log is trackable ! ---- Feel free to discover ---- Please mention, in which cache you've seen this code: ---- 3TABQX --
This is probably the most southern Cache I will (ever) log successfully. (Unless I would travel to Stuart Island or the Antarctic... )So it is a special Cache today that I could find. Thank you! TFTC and greetings from Germanyaussi96
While walking on the track towards the most southernmost point of the south island the cached were naturally logged. Greetings from Finland and tftc.
Tftc!!! Great walk we’ve done the loop back to carpark. Thanks for the cache ::) Great ocean views
This was our turn around point.
The cache took a little bit of spotting, but we found it.
Thanks for setting this up

A great day for a walk on krys birthday. Quick easy find on a busy track today with kellan, sullywolf and Jamesanddannii.

Out and about to see how far I can get this month's mountain...
But I had no luck here - a bit busy on the track today, but that was no excuse.
Attempt one on the way out to the lookout at 2:45 and another on the way back at 5:23 pm
Looks like another visit next year is going to happen.

Cache 852 with Covid lockdown now lifted and a small break in the weather it was time to start climbing up this month’s mountain challenge so decided to hit a few caches in bluff for this one being as it’s uncertain if we will end up in lockdown again hopefully I can climb the bulk of it today
It is now currently pissing down on my walk luckily I had my poncho so I’m semi dry, took me a little while to locate it’s all about viewing angles, cache in good shape T4TC

Had a bit of time to spare before heading for a meal at the nearby restaurant so I went for a fast walk along this track. This was the third of three caches found before I had to turn back. I was wondering how long this might take but indeed the coordinates were accurate and it was in the second place I checked. Signed log, thanks for the cache and for giving me the incentive to come along this enjoyable track again.
Found with Greg on 27 Dec. System not logging or counting caches from my phone. Really really annoying now. Have logged with GEOHQ. Cheers...
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I are on a bit of a Christmas Roadtrip to Ingill & back ... we'll be doing a few geocaches on our travels ... this being the 44th of hopefully many ... we were in Bluff as we were wanting to walk part of the Foveaux Track around the base of Bluff Hill ... a brisk walk to grab this cache ... bumped into a fellow cacher & had a bit of a yarn ... signed the log & replaced ... TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #1,778 for us.
Looked for this one a couple of times with no luck. Out with Greg... no better luck until Greg spied it. Can put this one to bed note. Cheers
Enjoying this walk and the vistas from the Light house. Quick snag and tag here. Cheers.
Wednesday 4 November. Bluff is on my radar today. So Toby lets get going!
Toby, Zara and I are on a 3 week geo adventure of Cromwell, Southland, Catlins, Balclutha with a day in Dunedin and quick stop in Timaru. With Lenny, my trusty navigator and TBD my companion/mascot. we managed to visit lots of green boxes, now happy faces with the odd sad one. Did some LABs , earth caches, virtuals and wherigos, all chucked into the mix to rack up 500 odd caches. Lots of kilometers, lots of exploring and lots of fun. Thanks to all COs for our wonderful experience.

A week of work in Invercargill so at the end of the day today headed to Bluff to grab some caches. A relatively quick find. The coords put me right on it. This is as far as I went today but able to claim 1690m towards the DGSc distance challenge. Thanks for the cache.
I was a bit skeptical after reading the last log, but the cache was sure there, although the hint was slightly misleading. So many rocks to check, but a quick find once at the right angle! TFTC!!
We searched for about 15 minutes without luck. Anyway:
Greets from Germany.

Another find on the walkway. We saw a ship leaving harbour too. A nice quick find today. Cheers.
Time to have a holiday road trip, and today we cruised around Invercargill and environs, to collect a few TMGT and other caches.
Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

Found after a short search. Definitely follow the coords.
Sad to say that there is a sanitary napkin with a poo in right beside the cache.
Signed as bp.

This is why I do this. Walked here many times but on searching for cache found some Lindqvist plaques. Now to work out what they mean.
Thank you for the cache. We had a nice walk, even had the chance to see dolphins
This really is a lovely walk, even in the rain. With all the shipwreck stories, yes, a good place for a beacon.
A planned geocaching trip with specific targets in mind.
1: The final 2 caches to fill my D/T grid
2: The last 5 caches available (all in the South Island) to meet the NZ Jasmer challenge GC4R9Z6
3: Get as many caches as possible in a day (Solo)
I had no timetable and only a vague route (Christchurch - Dunedin- Invercargill). So after 20 days of sleeping in my tent/car I arrived home having traveled 4500km and visited some interesting places. Met some great people. I had found over 650 caches. That was a lot of park. Jump out out. Find cache sign and return. Then on to the next. All this done by myself. Also attended an event and had 2 FTF
Mission 1 and 2 were achieved and I had a best day of 153 caches. All this done by myself.
Day 9 Middlemarch to Invercargill 13 caches found but none of the target caches. This was not on my list but wanted to get a cache the furtherest south I could. Enjoyed the walk to GZ. The hide took a little time to find but got there in the end. Thank you for the placement. Dropped a TB.

After a busy day at the Civic Theater, time to get some fresh air. So a trip to Bluff was the decision.
A nice cloudy walk to the gz. Watching the boats come in... hopefully with more Oysters on board or at least a blue cod or two.

After a bissy day and the chorus done we decided to go to bluff for tea well a cache and oysters and chips.
So first the cache after a park at sterling point was found we had a nice walk to gz .
The cache was soon in hand and returned it to the hide .
The muggles on the ship at anchor in the distance had no idea we were here.
Great to see a ship as many time been to bluff and never timed it right.
Thanks for the hide

Found on a evening walk while enjoing all the birds and the birdsong. Thanks for hiding and maintaining the cache!
After getting settled at Bluff we headed to Lands End for a short walk.
We were pleasantly surprised by the number of birds that we heard and saw on the way to this Cache.
At GZ we followed the coordinates and soon spotted the container. Alls is in good condition.
Thanks for this Cache!

Located a likely spot for this and nyochi reached in and came out triumphant. Log signed and now time for a spot of lunch. Tftc.
Great walk around the hill. Good excuse to stop for a rest and pick up the cache. TFTC.
*No problems here. A little token left last time is still in place. Having a wander around the point while it's not raining. Dwarfed by a big ship making it's way out of harbour. Awesome!*
26/02/2017 found Big day planned taking the trails and finding a few boxes. Found a good park and followed the coast around to pick up the cache. SL TFTC

At this spot the gps was well-working, so after some rock spotting I was successful with finding the cache. The hint is still helpful but be aware that the bushes are obviously grown a bit in the meantime Tftc!
On this part of our journey through NZ we went down to the south side of the country. Maybe one of my southest Caches ever. But here the wind blows my cap away....god damed.

Another rainy day, not too bad when I reached Invercargill, so I looked for one cache in the city and then left to Bluff for my southernmost caches. This one will remain THE southernmost for quite a while, as the trip to South America / Tierra del Fuego is not in any plans yet
The hint is outdated as mentioned by many others. No need to climb too far/low, but you need to look carefully among the rocks. Trust the coordinates.
Thank you for the cache!

Visiting New Zealand for three weeks. After hanging around Auckland for a few days it was time to head south! Early morning flight to Nelson, a walk in Abel Tasman National Park with camping in Torrent Bay, then back to Marahau and a ride to Kaikoura. A short ride to Christchurch, then two rainy days in Dunedin and Invercargill, before beautiful hiking in Queenstown, Wanaka and Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park. West Coast was tricky as expected but not too wet, then a rush to Picton to explore the North Island for a few days.

Drove down to Bluff from Milford Sound on our camper van trip around South Island. Weather had turned wild & stormy so decided not to take the ferry to Stewart Island but felt we had to brave the wind & rain to visit Stirling Point & this cache, as the most southerly cache we’re likely to find! Half way thro our walk, the rain & wind stopped & we got back to the camper in glorious sunshine! Thanks for placing, FP.

Down from Northland on a short visit to Invercargill with not a lot of time for caching, so I wanted to make sure that the ones I did look for, were a bit special in some way. This one was on the list for when I took some first time visitors on a whistle stop visit to Bluff.
I left the rest of the group to order lunch at the Cafe above the sign, and headed off quickly around the track into the increasingly blustery cold southerly towards this cache and arrived at GZ to the sight of a squally front approaching.
After a bit of a search in line with the hint and no luck, I read some of the more recent logs and discovered that the hebe bushes may have grown somewhat since the cache was published. Using this info, I widened the search a bit and it wasn't long before the cache was in hand. Was able to sign the log, drop off a TB and replace just before the rain arrived. TFTC

I'm from Norway, escaping the cold winter and travelling around New Zealand for 7 weeks, using geocaching as my tourguide.
Today I drove from Invercargill to Queenstown. I took a detour via Bluff and did the 3 hour loop-walk there, before continuing along the coast to find the 2 old virtual caches. A beautiful sunny day.
About this cache:
I was lucky to find this one after a short search. I think this will be in my statistics for my most southern cachefind, for a long time. Tftc

This one could have taken a lot longer and it was only because I had dropped the pen and crouched down to pick it up that I spied the container. Found with debsnz
The wind was blowing, the trees were swaying, the water was full of white caps, the sun was out the tui were flying and the cache was found. Got it this time after several searches previously. Walked back via the gun pit. Today I saw the most Tui ever in one day. the trapping must be working. Quite a many years ago have walked this track and not seen or hear any birds except the gulls.
We did actually find this on our second attempt (I think in May this year). We have signed the log but must have forgotten to log it here. It turned out to be quite easy to find even though we struggled the first time. TFTC
A day in Invercargill with time for a few caches. had a quick look for this when running, shortly after it was published. More time for a careful look today.
Nice day for a walk. Not much people around here though. The last part of the hint might be a bit outdated. TFTC.
Found it on the second visit! First part of the hint is helpful, second is not. Tftc!
Cache soon found having walked along this pleasant walkway enjoying the seaward views. Many thanks
Travelling around the world with Dartmoor Deliverer to help her celebrate taking early retirement!
NB Dont forget our Devon UK Mega 2017 GC6JZNY this August in the beautiful East Devon area of our county. UK Megas are over one week full of events and geocaching - a wonderful way to enjoy our county!

On a trip across the globe, with Red Roaming, to celebrate my early retirement but I have to return to work though. We are here in NZ for 6 more weeks. yippee. Log signed with our full caching names or our initials. We decided to have a walk along the lovely walkway to get a couple of caches and to stretch our legs. The cache was soon found by RR at GZ. Had a nice walk along the coastline from stirling point to a great view from the memorial. Cache was difficult to find! Found a small hint at the place of the cache, not quite sure if it's there by purpose.

Catching up on logs from visit to NZ. VERY windy day. Enjoyed the walk even with the wind.
Second attempt for this one, we weren't leaving without it! Well hidden. Unfortunately my trackable wasn't here, please log these if you take any! Dropped off a trackable. TFTC
Found 2nd time with help of 2 phones, to narrow down search area. Thanks for the walk again.
at Queenstown we decided to go arround the Fouveaux walkway completely. but in case of the weather conditions (very strong wind and a little bit rainy) we stoped here without claiming a find. From here our tour continuous in direction of slope point.
nevertheless thank you for the cache.
