An interesting hut with a bit of a difficult track down to follow which certainly would reduce the traffic. Interesting old hut location prior the the new better location. Cache wasn't too hard to find with the additional hints.

4hrs from bungaree hut to this one..spotted the fishing float markers and headed down the hill..cache didn't take long to find paper a bit damp will need replacing by the next cacher..I would have but my spare was buried at the bottom of my pack which I left on the main track...no one at home in the new hut. Tftc

Well, this was an interesting one. We were based in the Hunters Hut (the new one) for the week so thought I'd have a looksie for this one. Spebnt a while with no luck then widened the circle to about 20m and there it was, lying in some ferns. Righto, drained some water and made a new hide. Now within 2-3m of the "Directions to the Mountain" sign, in fact, the sign about points to the cache. See the photo for a visual clue. Cheers
The old hut at Christmas Village was demolished by Rakiura Hunter Camp Trust on 30/10/2019. This cache was located under the floor but had clearly rolled out of sight of cachers. I have placed this container in a plastic marmite jar with a pencil and (something else) and relocated it to a safe place within a couple of feet. The new clue is "Directions to the Mountain"
6 of our 18 tramping spent a good 10 minutes looking for this one without luck. This hut certainly is a step down from the one 40m away closer to the beach.
Found it with "FrenchSuperTrampNiko" on our hiking on Stewart Island.... Bonus round after Te Arora trail
