Beautiful spring afternoon off I had today. Perfect for my Side Quest of Lonely Cache Finding Im working through KASs cool animal power trail, most havent been logged for over a year. It's day twelve of this months Wheel of Challenges challenge, the streak, and what a day it has been. I got up at ridiculous o'clock and cached my way up to Palmerston North with very careful planning to make my arrival time coincide with the earliest of the possible publish times of a daily series that is appearing there (as it happened, todays one appeared an hour later than I was hoping). I then drove around Palmerston and almost half the way back to Wellington as I chased down a variety of caches that were on my todo list. This was one of them.

Nice to see some of the missing KAS series caches have been revived, So I came by today and completed what's currently left of the series.

---
Thanks to tmann421 for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with CO's like this creating them and placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.

[DGSc-Bulk] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge.

Funny thing - all those DNF's and the cache was still an easy find at co-ords.
I think sometimes after someone doesn't find a cache others just assume it must be gone and add more DNF's without really looking!

The cache is ready to be found.

Hi kaŝmemoro

This geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit and after my previous reviewer note, there has been no owner response. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).

I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.

Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived.

Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.

Regards

Today’s mission is to try and push ourselves over one hundred caches for the month, and fifty for the day. Targeting the KAS trail (plus whatever others we need depending on how many we find). In the end we managed 50 finds and 10 DNF’s - hard work!
Not today, third in a row! Grrrrr…..

No joy for us today!

We were in PN this afternoon running some errands, I’ve been wanting to hit some of these power trails after doing the one along the Weta Motel road.

Lots of houses along this road and lots of homeowners watching on as we stopped very few hundred metres!

Thanks anyway

We have wanted to do this trail for sooooooo long, but life got in the way. Finally, we decided it was now or never. Got a late start after travelling from Wangas..started about 11am...made one mad dash back to Rongotea for Mrs RRR to pee (she can't think when she has to pee LOL) and one around 3pm for another bathroom break, and snaffle some foodles, and make use of better network coverage. We tried to follow a logical course but had already done some previously so had to zig-zag a couple of times but thankfully not far. Had 10 to go in the last block, and just went all out. Finished with a DNF on the very last one, around 8.45pm...headed off to do one more on the way home, and then head for the hills for a feed and feet up. All-in-all a good day, made better by the box of sandwiches and goodies and thermos in the boot. Many thanks for this trail - we're very happy to see many more smiley faces on it. Logs signed with RachelsRiffRaff or RRR. TFTC

We did this area about a month in order to achieve the 72 cache finds in 24hrs. An achievement coin thats still out there in Geoshop land if you hunt hard enough! We were staying in Palmie for a couple of nights, so it seemed only logical to try and give it ago- we started late, and with 4 kiddos 12yrs and under, we thought- this is not going to be possible! But, despite a few DNF's at the beginning -and the negative vibe that gave us, we were determined to do it. 11.20am start, and we completed 65 of them by 5.30 at night- with a small lunch break on the side of the road and a few arguments in the car with restless kiddies- but a good haul! The last 7 were easily achieved the next morning on a morning walk along the Palmerston north River. 72 caches in 24hrs- whoop whoop.

Headed out for an afternoon/evening of caching. Started off in the light but by the end it was dark. The full moon was beautiful but not particularly helpful but with a good torch many of these caches were still able to be found. Having said that I had 10 DNF most of which have not been found this year. Many of the logs had replacement logs with the old damp log stuffed to the bottom. A bit of TLC would not go amiss! Thanks for the series.

12-Jan-20
That took longer than it should have. Thanks for hiding. Needs some TLC though... UPDATE: I signed this with my former name sabine44.

This is day nine of a ten day trip down to Dunedin and back to move my daughter there so she can get her master’s degree at Otago University. I spent the morning around Himatangi doing a series of caches, and then headed up to Turangi. I was going to stay a second night, but the weather was closing in.

I saw this series on my way back from the WENZ 2018 Mega last year and thought I have to do these one day.

After spending the night at the holiday park at Himatangi, the rain had stopped long enough for me to continue where I left off the evening before. The cows came over and moo'ed me on. TFTC.

Out on a bit of a random road trip for a couple of weeks.
Taumaranui, Whakatane, Foxton Beach Smile
Out today with our latest bit of Geocaching kit - e-bikes.
Cycling around a 12k block doing the power trail.
Good easy finds as a power trail should be. Adding the hint to the cache name is a nice touch.
We like the animals attached to the otherwise boring containers.

Today was a numbers run for us. Lots of caches to choose from in this area so we did all but 2 of the KAS series, the mint tin series and some railway ones. 98 caches found in total and 2 DNF's something tells me we are going to have to go out again to find 2 more today. Many thanks to all the CO's of the caches we visited today, hugely appreciated and certainly love the quiet roads after Auckland.

26-Oct-18
One of 65 caches located in this neck of the woods today, a personal best which is never likely to be repeated! Biked along these roads from mid-morning to late afternoon, making a real day of it. Thanks to the cache owners for putting all these hides in place.
This one was a straightforward find. #1995. TFTC.

• mr and mrs are on a post 2018 WENZ Mega road trip, before going home
Today we’re in Manawatu and Horowhenua area, with some time dedicated to the KAS Series
Found caches have typically been signed MM78, although a few have been stamped mrandmrschosen1978.
Apologies for generic logs but with so many... condition of caches varied with good dry logs to wet/damp logs, we added some rite’n’rain slips to some as required
Thanks for this series, we appreciate the time and effort made in creating this series •

It’s Day 1 of our 2018 WENZ MEGA crusade and Team BOP are well represented by McJandals, NZFlossy, TNXPro, Davidson Clan, FapAndGap & Squirrel nutcase and myself.

We have a huge hit list for this 5 day affair so it's gonna be a little manic. We’ve signed our logs either individually or as ‘Team BOP’ depending on log space, size or condition. A special thanks to all the CO’s and those who have helped keep these caches in good order.

Cache found quickly thanks to accurate co-ords and a straight forward placement. A neat series and theme but most of the log sheets need replacing and are good examples of my we should be using waterproof paper. TFTC.

On a long trip down to the mega with Lis's crew. So for me it good for numbers and favorites caches. With several stops and a lot of caches and several souvenirs up for grabs the trip was the perfect opportunity to get my numbers up and get some challenges that I have qualified for. Interesting series of caches here in Palmy area. most were quick finds but some to took a bit longer. Thanks for keeping this trail going.

10-Oct-18
This is my 3rd time out here collecting these powerline caches. Came here to collect a car seat and decided to clear 11 caches to join some smiley face lines together. For some caches I signed as NB. This was the best cache out of the 11 I found because it had perfect parking off the road! The 2 younger girls loved watching the calves as I did my duties! TFTC

11-Jul-18
Well my 400th cache may not be a famous one, but what I saw here was brilliant, a mother must have just given birth to 2 lambs earlier on, so was watching them, tftc and the series

06-Jul-18
With my intended route planned I’ve taken a day off work to grab as many as possible of the KAS animal trail before the weather breaks tomorrow. This is the only power trail I ever intend doing - just for the numbers - 100 caches needed for the Hidden Creatures souvenir hunt in just a month. Thanks for placing these.

04-Jul-18
Sooo... it was 4 o clock in the morning, and I decided to get up and go for a drive to collect as many caches as possible before breakfast? Why? Cause I was down for work, and that was when I had to meet up with everyone.
Started at the southern end, so I could feel like I was working my way back to Palmy and my morning Hot Chocolate. its still dark... getting close to 5am now... at least its not raining. Just freezing cold! my fingers have gone a bit numb and red

My son and I have been trying to get around to doing the KAS trail for quite some time now, ever since we finished getting through the nearby Chewy Mint trail.

The Planetary Pursuits event currently running, and an available free day with my son over the Easter weekend, seemed like the perfect excuse to finally hit it!

So I planned a route that also took into account some other nearby caches, such as this one, making a grand total of 84 caches to be attempted today, curious to know if we could absolutely blast our previous record (40) for the number of finds for a day. As it turned out, we had just 5 DNF's, so it was a tremendous result that propelled us almost all the way to Pluto in 1 day! I now have a very tired, but happy lad.

I apologise for the generic 'cut n paste' style of my log, but with 79 to do tonight I figured it was the only way.

This was a straightforward find. The cache and logbook are fine.
The log was signed as "T & T" to cover myself and my lad ThatWeirdGuy04.

Having just had my first placement muggled a couple of weeks ago, I am very much in appreciation of all CO's who place and maintain caches for the rest of us to find.

Onto the next piece of business for the day, after completing the PMPT (popmac power trail). Apologies in advance for the cut and paste logs, I will add details where I remember, I managed the whole of remaining caches in this series, except 2 DNFs. One was definitely missing, the other may have been sheltering a little too well.

I see some of theses have lost their guardians and some others have hatched, into mint tins but the co-ordinates on all these caches were excellent, thanks for that.

A trip to the North Island for a course of a fortnight duration, and taking the car too, woo-hoo.
After setting off on the Bluebridge at dark o clock I arrived in Wellywood with a slight threat of rain. In my sights for the days entertainment were the oldest cache in NZ and another oldie out Otaki Forks road, lots of mint-tins in a power-trail, lots of wee beasties i another power trail, up to 3 Letterbox Hybrid caches to get up to 50 of that type and a few recently soled puzzles. A day of 58 finds had me arriving at my destination in the dark, but I don't get out much so should be excused!!

In the Manawatu for the weekend with some caching buddies- Uncle Sam, NZTravellers, Stik-a-crane. The goal was to find as many of the local caches that we could in the space of a day. We managed to find 206, I think, in the space of 14 hours, with a few bathroom/ coffee breaks and a couple of meal breaks. We all had a blast jumping in and out of the car, racing each other to the caches, and laughing and joking along the way, and in general had an awesome weekend down here.
We really enjoyed this trail, and I particularly thought the guardians of the cache containers were pretty cool!
Apologies for the generic logs.... with over 200 caches found in one day, it was virtually impossible to remember each individual cache!

Our team from Auckland wanted to do a major day of caching, so headed down to Foxton area for a massive day. We got about 205.

Very sorry for the generic logs, but when doing so many in one day very hard to make notes on each.

But a big thank you to all the cache owners for putting out all of the great caches we visited.

With the exeption of "Route 66" in the North of Auckland I didn't visit any powertrail on my four week trip on beautyfull North Island because NZ is such a lovely Country with also so lovely People. No time for power trails at all. But this one is very, very good in shape and so I couldn't resist to visit a part of it. So I found 31 of the Caches before I moved on northward again.

Thanks a lot for the Caches and I hope I'll be back one day to get the others, too.

I was in Palmy North on business and decided to stay an extra day and spend time driving the KAS trail Nicely put together with the added bonus that its all on a sealed road.. and with plenty of parking. Just great. The weather co-operated with sunny skies and a nice breeze. Thanks for the trail.

19-Mar-16
I traveled down to Palmerston North for a 3 day geocaching weekend to give my numbers a bit of a boost, as I head towards my next caching milestone. I decided to fly there and back and pick up a cheap rental car for the weekend. The weather was perfect and I had a great weekend down there.

Today I joined forces with yorkshirekiwi83 for a full day of caching before an event in the city tonight. We picked up a few caches around the city first, then drove down towards Opiki collecting caches down some of the side roads as we went, then headed across to do the KAS Power Trail, before going up to do the caches around Ohakea then headed back to Palmerston North.

At this point we worked our way through the KAS Power Trail Series - a series that YK83 started last year, but which came an abrupt end for her. Today we had no such problems and had an enjoyable time finding all of the caches on the trail - the vast majority were nice easy finds, we only had notable issues with 3 caches (which I will go into more detail about on the relevant cache logs.) Thanks for the obvious time that has been spent putting these neat containers together and for placing this trail!
