I visited the Island on a day trip from Perth, did the Island explorer on the bus and had hoped to stop at more locations to get to some of the other cache's but only 1 stop at the lighthouse for 10 minutes. Once we were back in the village I walked up through the cemetery for the multi cache and to the two nearby EC,s, gathered the required information for the CO and sent my answers off, hopefully I will get back to this place for more exploring another day, thanks for placing and

Nearing the end of our day on rottnest, we were desperate to get Miss atCat down for a nap. I decided to walk her in the stroller to this cache (the only unfound one within walking distance). I loved the walk along this beautiful lake, which was a pinky colour today. Unfortunately it was too choppy to see the stromatolites near GZ. Thank you for bringing us here. I have sent the answers to the CO. Picture of a sleeping toddler attached

Our last for the day here just as the sun was setting. The big rains we have had this year have filled all the lakes. I come regularly to Rotto at this time of the year and this is the fullest I have ever seen them. I never tire of the bird life and the colours. Thanks Rottnest Islander - another beautiful place to stop and soak up the scenery

6 months(ish) since we left home and stated our ‘lap year’ half way in our original time allocation and not even close to half way around the country…hmm I guess we won’t be ‘home’ for Christmas….oh well… (shhh don’t tell the grandparents)
Perhaps if/we I stopped looking at so many rocks trees and beaches we wouldn’t be taking so long…then there are the flowers, old things and street art that keeps catching our attention.. maybe it’s the Geocaches… what ever it is, we are having a bloody brilliant time and I wouldn’t change a thing!
Today was Rottnest Island’s turn, not being a selfie person usually I had the rare urge to get a selfie with a Quokka, seems it’s all a big lie and they are not the smiley selfie loving little buddies they are made out to be, they are pretty sure and they are friendly but unless they think you have food they don’t want to know you!
Thanks for being one of the awesome caches we found this week.

Answers have been sent 14 CCC. Kteeeee, misspeach13, wrt and muggles and myself. It isI lovely day and we packed it full of things to do and see in managed to make it back in one piece. Some of the people on the other bikes are less than attentive to the road.

Our adventure really started a couple of years ago with our cruise booking and the savings plan. This year we arrived Feb 6 and had three days to explore Sydney before cruising with Kteeeee and Mr. Kteeeeee, MissPeach13 and MrPeach13 and WRTagalong. signed CCC. We had a great trip with no cases of Co-vid19. We arrived back to Sydney Mid march. The others flew home. WRT and I continued on. We had some time in Brisbane and then cut our trip short as the virus was causing too many challenges and our Country called us home. We stayed quiet and flew out the 25th arriving to a ghost city in Vancouver.

These caches are only being logged now that I am hooked up to the computer and I can find the caches I missed logging. If I have made an error please let me know if something seems wrong as time has passed and my memory is not what it used to be.

Thank you to all the Aussies who set out these caches, maintained them and to the Aussies who offered us shelter and long term shelter if we could not get home. If I had to be stuck anywhere in the world I would choose Australia!

Tftc, we had a day trip to Rottnest Island. A day is not long enough to spend at this beautiful location. At the end of the day we had a bit of time before the ferry back so I made the quick walk down here to grab the two nearby earth caches. What a beautiful area.

It was the second time for us in Australia. We stayed in this fascinating country from 11/08/-30/08/2019.
We started our travels in Perth and went in the following 20 days south to Bunbury, Busselton, Margaret River, Pemberton, Denmark, Albany, Hopetoun and Esperance. We continued north to Kalgoorlie, further to the West to Hyden, Northam, Muchea and Cervantes. From Cervantes we drove back to Perth with a final stop at Rottnest Island.
Besides the sightseeing spots we visited and looked for different cache types as
Traditionals, Multis, WherIGos, Letterboxes, Mysteries, Earthcaches and Virtuals. It’s all in the mix.
We could lern a lot about the hide and seek in Western Australia. Maybe we can use the gained knowledge in Germany to hide some caches the way you do in Australia.
We enjoyed these amazing 3 weeks in Down Under as we could do in 2010 and we hope to come to Australia again as soon as possible.

Sorry, the logs are not unique for each cache but we had fun looking for every single one.

Perth Day 2: Today’s main agenda was to make the trip to Rottnest Island, back to Freo and whatever other caches I can get in between. The weather was perfect for cycling around today with the quokkas, and with that, we picked up many a cache, and enjoyed ourselves immensely.

This is the specific log for this cache:
A short walk from the last cache, and another lovely lake view was revealed. The thing to look out for was obvious enough, and the needed information was found. Last cache on Rotto before heading back to the mainland for lunch. TFTEC!

Who would of thought that a chance meeting at a first to find last week would lead to a massive Rottnest onslaught.
Rottnest has been in my to do list for quite some time now but I never quite got around to it. Speaking to Barnzy12 we both realised we had a day off the following week and plans were made, with Lachlan1.77 joining in on the fun.

Leaving home at 5am we met up and made sure we were aboard the first ferry out of freo - The Quokka1.

Lachlan the experienced cyclist in the group brought his bike across whilst Barnzy and I opted to leave ours at home and hired the electric bikes as I knew my dodgy knees would not stand up to the hilly terrain that is Rottnest.

We trekked across the island in an anti clockwise direction. I had forgotten how beautiful this island really is, making for plenty of photo opportunities Despite being school holidays most of the beaches were deserted and we had very little trouble with muggles and only one slithery thing encountered at 'The blowholes.'

One thing I did notice was how much friendlier the quokkas were away from the settlements in the quieter areas of the island with one group being particularly friendly and the babies quite adventurous and curious of our belongings.

The highlights were definitely the locations but there was still a good variety of hides available and the earth cache numbers were fantastic and much needed. We had come prepared supplying maintence to all caches that required it replacing logs, cracked lids and replacing the one cache that was confirmed missing.

It was a hard slog at times especially trying to do it all in one day but we managed the 40 caches with time to spare which allowed for time to reflect and enjoy a well earned cold one before we caught the wave riding roller coaster home.

A big caching day out to Rottnest Island that has been on the pipeline for too long but never quite eventuated, but with a timeslot open today, plans were set. joined up with locals WebblyWA and Lachlan1.77 for an action packed day.

We all met in Fremantle at 6am, to depart on the 7am ferry to Rotto. We had done some pre work for this trip grabbing some information on a multi in Bold Park in times long gone by. Got into the Island, and walked over to the bike hire place, to rent an electric bike for WebblyWA and myself, as we are inexperienced cyclists.

We cached the various bays of the Island, starting on the Northern side of the island, working our way to the Extremities of the west end and back to the settlement via the Southern side of the island.

I don’t remember much from my last rotto visit back in 2002, some 16-17 years ago, but the island does look different. The island had some amazing sights, I was shocked that beautiful beaches were deserted, because there was something even more picturesque around the corner.

We enjoyed the great variety of containers on our travels and the amazing locations that the various COs including the Rottnest Island Authority have decided to share with us. The number of Earthcaches really helped complete a fulfilling caching experience.

We completed our days caching around 4pm and retired to a local establishment for a well earned “coldie” before the rough ferry journey home.

A good days effort with all 39 caches on the island found, and another found in fremantle on the way home that we did all the leg work for on the island

Thanks to WebblyWA and Lachlan1.77 for a great days caching.

Out for a day on Rotto with some other crazy people, with the intention being to nab all the caches on the island. Razz We were worried that time was going to be an enemy today, but we blitzed through them all and even had time for a quick beer (always important) before the boat back to Freo. I ended up with 36 finds for the day, having already previously found 4 caches on the Island. We even found a cache that had been archived for almost 4 years! Surprised We have conducted maintenance for all caches in need, including; replacing logs, lids and caches altogether. All in all, a successful day out at Rotto! [^]

While rather pretty, it was no secret that the lakes were rather smelly (pun intended). You could smell them for miles! Cheers Rottnest Islander! Big Grin

Find #2396
Our last full day in Perth before flying home tomorrow, we're on Rottnest Island. After a choppy ferry ride out here (like a bonus rollercoaster ride!) and one seasick child we hopped on the bus. We imagined shuttles every few minutes taking us from cache to cache, but it wasn't to be, so we rode the bus to Parakeet Bay and walked back to the Settlement, grabbing 10 caches on the way, including 4 EarthCaches - we had a great time, and look forward to seeing the southern half of the island next time.
Samuel and I walked out to this spot while Oliver and mum headed to the playground. We spotted something decidedly manmade behind us at GZ.... answers sent. TFTC

Spent the weekend on Rotto with friends. Most of the time was spent snorkelling but I took some time on Friday morning to explore the lakes and geocaches near the settlement. I was a bit disappointed by the lack of migratory wading birds here, but it was very interesting nonetheless. Love the Rotto Snow!

Mrs Jackylegs was determined that we were going to come over to Rottnest today, despite the dire weather forecast and the expected crowds of people heading over for the Rottnest Carnivale 2017 Event. We were fortunate enough to be on the maiden voyage of the new Sealink ferry "Quokka 1", which gave us a very speedy trip over to the island. Mrs Jacklylegs didn't think it was quick enough though as she succumbed to a bout of sea sickness, but she was looked after by a young attractive deckhand, so not all grim, and she did recover very quickly once back on solid ground.

We encountered a cute furry inhabitant of the island on the walk out towards the nearest unfound caches. So of course we had to stop and let West Oz Geocaching's mascot trackable "Woz" get acquainted and have her photo taken with her distant relative. I had to drag Mrs Jackylegs away after a while or she would have spent all day oohing and aahing over the creature, and the caches were calling out to us to get a move on while the weather held out.

After finding a nearby cache that I had previously searched for and missed, we headed on over to tackle a couple of earthcaches. This was the second one we stopped at, and took a while to work out what we were supposed to be looking for. Ended up taking a few pics and hoping we would be able to sort out some viable answers to earn our smileys. Our answers were submitted to the CO for approval by my companion, Mrs Jackylegs44.

Thanks for the excuse to come back and visit this beautiful island and reason to think about how things came to be. Cheers Rottnest Islander

Singapore - Perth - Rottnest Island - Penguin Island - Geraldton - Kalbarri - Denham - Carnarvon - Coral Bay - Exmouth - Port Hedland - Broome - Darwin and all Nationalparks on our way

Our trip with Stopover in Singapore and through Western Australia to the Northern Territory with the Campervan from Perth to Darwin led us to many beautiful caches. Sometimes the temperatures were very high for us Europeans, but we have always managed the walk well and are looking forward to standing so many miles from home in the logbook. Australia is a very fantastic country, with lots of sights and especially so many animals, from the kangaroo over dugongs, dolphins, emu's and even the blue whale and the whale shark we have seen a lot. We would like to thank all the owners for the layout of the caches, their care and the showing of mostly special places.

We send many greetings and a G 'Day from Leipzig in Germany from the 2 Supermuggels
