Finally with winter seeming to be in retreat, we were lucky enough to have a couple of days caching in south western Victoria. We may soon be on watch for fires in this part of the state.
Thanks to South-West for adding this cache to the gameboard.

Well I was now supposed to be on my 6 week adventure up to Outback Queensland but with my knee failing me I just had to turn back around and head home.
So after 3 weeks of rest at home I was getting cabin fever so for the last week I just had to get out so Western Victoria beckoned so I could grab a few LGA’s and UBD Country VIC maps which would not involve a lot of walking.
So after attending the International Geocaching event in Lara yesterday I got up early this morning and off I went.
With all of the recent heavy rain everything is just soaked and you have to be careful not to leave the road or tracks.
I was reading an article that Victoria and Australia are changing and simplifying the ratings again for this coming fire season.
After a few of the events in Victoria we need something like this.
Thanks Marly8120 TFTC.

Finally I was able to get back on the road, after 2 years and 3 cancelled trips. 7 days on the road, into SA and back to VIC via Mildura. Portland was the first destination, the second time I have stayed here. Was good to be able to take a good look around this time.
This was find #11 for the day. A quick park and grab here.
Signed and replaced.
Thanks

The South West Tour. We had planned a longer stay but a few things got in the way so it’s Saturday to Monday. The caching aim was to get some higher D/T ratings and get our average for both above 1.75.
A long awaited road trip, originally planned for the Millicent Mega weekend. However due to possible SA border issues, we’re only doing the Vic sections. Joined by Papi4506 & Geoturtle37, RoamingHowie and I are finally on the road to adventure!
Day 4: Portland to Hamilton.
A quick stop here to make another smiley.
Thanks for bringing us here today by placing this cache, South-West

Day #4 of the adventure in Western Victoria. Having officially, categorically, absolutely, ruled out crossing the border to SA for the Nth time we are now alternating the plan to spend a couple of nights in Hamilton via some more caches in Portland and surrounds. After a big day of walking yesterday we took it easy this morning and after slowly packing the GeoRanger we are on our way!
Always take note of this when traveling in the bush.
Thanks South-West for placing this gamepiece in the wild for us to find.

Easily found the cache at GZ but as it was under water thx to the recent heavy rain I chose to leave it in place. And with recent logs saying the logsheet was full anyway there wasn't anything to gain by getting it even wetter in this rain. Pic taken of evidence of find. Thx Marly8120 for another cache in Heywood and making the drive out here worthwhile, cheers!

We arrived in a total fire bam day so things were very high. Although the cave thought the temperature was much lower. TFTC

Found at 11:00 AM GAFF1.
Felt a bit exposed retrieving this cache - probably should have crossed the road with the van and placed it between the road and the structure
Thanks South-West.

A very quick find at GZ. I am very nervous of fire danger after last years bush fires.
Interesting cache! Lots of muggle traffic. Tried to be inconspicuous as best as I could! haha. TFTC!
A 5 day caching run, over the 2020/2021 New year period saw me leave on the Thursday the 31st of December and travel to the Brisbane Ranges, down to Warrnambool, Port Fairy, Portland, the up to Heywood, Dunkfield and Horsham, camping along the way. On the Saturday I met up with my caching partner, ilukaperi at the home of choocknchunk, where we spread the coronavirus around as much as we could. Enjoyed some 4wding around the Mt Cole area before making our way back home on the Monday.
So I spent New Year’s Eve by myself on the shores of Lake Elingamite, sipping on a glass (or plastic cup) of red wine and watching the sunset on 2020. Good riddance I say! I got up early and cached my way from there, through Warrnambool, Port Fairy and Portland before finding my camp for the night at Annya Camp. A lot of variety of cache types and some good ground covered too.
Another quick stop to do a routine inspection. Cache was found easily. Doesn’t seem to be any danger over the next few days, anyway. TFTC.

No fires at the moment. Heaps of rain around here has created flooding issues.
Nice easy find.
Thanks
