Insane amount of time absorbed here. Doing the cacher dance for sure, and more like 45mins until finally, had a look underneath a suspicious rock. Dog walkers coming and going, I took no notice in them and I assume the same to me. Had the coords for this one for a while. Not sure if the wombats are flying anymore, more like parked in the hanger.Love the runway, must be a sight on weekends here, thanks opa-shrek
This one took a bit longer to find, and I had to wait for a muggle and his dog before I could ma k e a thorough search.
Maybe a 4th cache in this series could be due, with some other great Central Coast Cachers flying high to 1000.

Took us a bit, but we found it! Tried from one side, but didn't seem to be accessible. Tried from the other side but weren't having much luck. Started to move away to have a look at the whole area, and something got Laimelde's attention - ta dah! Cache in hand. Thanks!
This took quite a few minutes of searching. First we tried from above, then below, and went further than we needed to. As we were about to call it quits on this one, I stepped back down and found something wasn't quite as stable as we thought - and there it was!
Avenged. I kept looking at it, and saying Nah!. Kept searching, was a strange pile of sticks that had my attention, but Nope. 20 minutes later, i decide to flip it, and now my phone says 0M. Go figure. I dont like looking in rocks. TFTC.
The dam is looking a lot fuller than the last few times we were up here looking for yabbies. It's even overflowing down onto the walking track at the lower end! I still wouldn't be keen on swimming in it though, or using the rope swing set up at one end.
The cache tool us longer than the other two in the series, we must have been having an off day. We sat down to rest, rethink and read past logs. We were none the wiser when we stood up, but one of our member spotted the cache immediately upon standing so that was fun!
Thanks for the Cache and the series highlighting the accomplishments of these cachers. Hopefully one day we will be able to join the list.

After fixing a mistake with my solution I was off to GZ where I made the find after trusting the GPS and not my cache sense. Good hiding spot!!!

0 out of three aint bad. I started at 3, but the numbers i had, was 70 metres off the tree line, and no hiding places near it. Did something wrong. No2, not dressed for that sort of bush bash. Could not find an easy way in from this side. No.1 Arrived at what i think is GZ, and spent considerable time searching amongst the rocks. I really dislike moving rocks to find caches. Checked high, low, middle. So i sort of did not find it. Had another go returning from the last one, but still nothing new. OH well. Will try again one day.
Found it with BillHill531 today.Bill worked out the Puzzle and i found the cache. TFTC and the series opa-shrek.
Found with shaneo58 doing some around the central Coast/Strickland National Park, coming down from Newcastle/Lake Macquarie in the morning, getting up in the low 20's deg later in the day. This was the first one we fond from this series even though we started from the other end . This is the 9th cache of 12 for today. Log signed and caches replaced as found. Thanks For The Cache Opa Shrek

The Geowife is heading up to the Central Coast today - the first time since our sojourn overseas. She will be busy between 11 and 4, meaning I have a few hours to grab some caches.
But rather than a binge, today I'm targeting two specific caches - that aren't particularly close to each other. And I can work in a previous DNF which isn't too far from one of them.
In the end I made six finds - most with bush walks of varying lengths. A pleasant, somewhat leisurely, day.
Pity about the DNF...
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###
Well.
Back for another go and, somewhat red faced I g=have to admit I managed to fat finger my verified coordinates. Oops.
So, with the right spot I parked as close as you can get and made my way to GZ.
This time I spotted the hide immediately - it just called out to me. Either that or it was pitying me for my mistake last time.
Completed signing duties and replaced.
Finally this series is done. Will drop a favourite here for the series.
Now for my next target for the day.

What a great homage to some very accomplished Geocachers. I really enjoyed their various stories. Found with Taylapearce3. TFTC!

After trying the other two with no luck I came here and after a bit of walking around I found it. Nice area, didn’t realise there’s a pond here. Bumped into a guy with his kid swimming which seems kinda gross with the colour of water.

The Geowife was scheduled to attend a presentation on theCe trail Coast today and asked me if I wanted to drive her up and then find some caches. Well, I don’t have to be asked twice!
I was hoping for about 10 finds, but three long searches - two being DNFs - put paid to that. Ended up with six, but one was avenging a previous DNF.
And I ended up back in Sydney early enough I could make it to the Waratah’s game at the SCG that night. And they beat Queensland!
Good day.
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###
I’d spotted this series a while ago when looking at Central Coast caches. Took a bit of work, but finally has solutions to all three. Even so, I’d not attempted them the last few times I’d caches north of the Hawkesbury.
Decided to do them in numerical order which meant starting here. Found an easy route to GZ where I went around and around for quite a while without spotting anything indicative of a cache. Lots of plants and lots of rocks...
A few spots were checked more than once - and more than once they held no cache.
Finally gave it up and headed to *#2*.

Well we did look today while getting number 2 as we had to redo our calcs, but could not find so back home we went. We re did it and had the correct location sorted so back out tonight to do in the dark under torch light. Well what do you know we found it.
Looked for this today with no luck but we weren’t sure are coords were right. After confirming we are right went out tonight to find with torches in hand. Find in about 2 minutes, don’t know how we missed it today, aleast we learnt the easy way to GZ today.
After looking for this one today had no luck but where worried we had cords wrong .so went home to check numbers came up with same ones so went back tonight and soon had in hand . It was where we looked today so maybe we see better in the dark thanks for this series
well what a difference having the correct co ords in your gps can make, I had come looking for this cache last week and ended up on the wrong side, I rechecked my notes and I had all the right information, I had even messaged the co way back when, to confirm them which he kindly did but it seems I entered one number into the page and my gps wrong. This morning i came back out before work and enjoyed a nice walk and a really quick find with co ords , no bush bashing required. no planes today , hopefully next time. Thanks for the cache opa-shrek tnln sl
Realised after bushbashing for a while i must have had the wrong co-ords ( i never figured out which was geomonkeys 1000th find...) and made my over to the other side of the field and made a relatively quick find. TFTC
Great day for geocaching! I was the only one in the field. After finding #3, I went straight to this one through the bushes, just realising that there was a smoother way to get there.. Anyway, still into the bushes I heard voices and laughters and thought, what this people is doing here? Well, they came to the easiest way and were playing with their dog. I passed by, said hello and soon had CIH.
Thanks Opa Shrek & congratulations to the cachers who inspired this GC.
Again, couldn't be more appropriate day to find it. It seems that there was an Australia Day celebration inside the container (picture)!

6.35pm of streak day #16
Currently undertaking a cache-a-day streak to meet a special challenge I came across recently and after making a frustrating 2nd DNF on my planned cache-of-the-day multi up in Wamberal, and then A SECOND DNF after that with my "plan B" cache up at Katandra(!), and so with light fading I decided to head for this one again (we have two previous DNFs here) as Opa Bob informed me via PM recently that this cache had in fact been muggled and that he'd made a replacement. With all the hard work done I made a very quick find today ..finally! So glad to know that it wasn't us and our lack of geo-mojo out here previously. Thanks Opa Shrek for always keeping good maintenance on your caches and for being a great sport for C4 caching and caching in general! One lone flyer out here doing some cool practice on what was a perfect evening for flying. Anyway, I took the TB and I'll move it on. All three Flying High caches done now! Maybe one day we'll make it to Flying High #6 or something

It transpires that the container has gone AWOL somewhere along the line, so I have replaced the cache, and dropped a TB in for good measure.
Please BYO pen/pencil as I have run out of small ones at home at the moment. Also, could finders make sure they replace the camo covering when returning the cache to its hidey hole.
Cheers

Nuts! Still can't find it! Turns out, with confirmation of correct coords from CO, we were indeed right the first time even when we were all looking back in July. Went back out solo today on a slight detour on the way home ..after ANOTHER DNF nearby in Palmdale to have a second look. I just can't see a hide here. This one has me stumped I have to say. T2 doesn't add up here in my mind when considering GZ and hint. Sometimes your geosense just doesn't show up at a GC and this is one of those for me!! Might be missing but I doubt it - a number of people reported taking a while to find it. Plus its not really a muggle area.
Out today with the full jcmbt1 crew and two from goodey70 for some hiking on the Strickland trails and thought we'd try the Flying High series while we were up this way as I'd recently solved the puzzles. We found #2 and #3 no worries but then we moved on to #1 and after about 30 mins of searching what is actually a pretty straight forward area, we all came up with nuthin'! Five grown ups and five geokids: my guess is I might have stuffed up with the coords so will go back over them tonite and double check! If I am off I don't think its by much 'cause it looks good and matches a lot of the previous loggers. We'll be back out soon because we have *Prince In Distress* on the radar and it looks like that's not going to be too far from here. But as far as today is concerned: two outta three ain't bad! TFTC Opa-Shrek, it has been fun going thru the logs of the flying high club and inspires us to see if we can't earn that stripe sometime. We'll see, so far so good...
Aha. One of the questions requires us to find the date for ALL7's 1000th and for some reason I was one digit out ...it may be because I searched thru that log last week using my phone app but just now I used the mac to look it up on Groundspeak and the log data there is a day earlier. I've seen this occur before actually. I'm not sure why this is happening as both my app and my Groundspeak settings have Sydney time so if anyone has any tips? Anyway this resets our coords about 20m north of where we were looking duh.
Was in the area today to check out some of the HAVOC - C4 COTY nominations. Had solved this one a while ago. A quick find. TNLN TFTC
Hot arvo but had to get rid of SMTM TB - it's hot as well!

Found today with the Nooster, after a long hit day of work nearby. It pays to trust the co-ords on this one
We did some exploring after this find, visiting the nearby carvings, even finding an unpublished geocache!
Solved way back months ago, did have all the intentions of getting here back then too, just never happened.
Quite a lot of History about this old airstrip, and I've not only had a lot of fun here, but also been dismayed at the loss of a potential Hang-Gliding Air Park here, its a long story, ask me sometime in person. Ill try to post some old photos from up here later
A few decades ago there were hundreds of dumped cars, so many a mobile car crusher was brought in...
A natural bore in the area is actually capable of swallowing your car...
Remains of an old aircraft crash might still be found here !?
Aboriginal markings can be found in a few places...
Very rare and very large flowers grow here...
Was used by the army...
Remains of old sheds can still be found...
Today, many people come just to walk the dog in some peace and quiet

After a fairly long day of work with the DOC, he suggested to pay the airstrip a little visit. Having the coordinates I had worked out in our lunch break, we were both busy following compasses as the DOC told me many stories of his hair raising adventures up here! On aproach to GZ, we pointed out the potential target ofnour search, but no cache was to be found. We both began to widen the search area, the DOC went along as I moved down. After checking coordinates and walking around in circles for some time, I spied a hint of blue! TFTC!!
After success with #2, I headed down here with TimboC to visit the Foundation Members, all but one of whom I've had the pleasure of meeting. No time wasted here, I was at the right level for a quick reveal. We signed and enjoyed the sunny walk back. Thanks again opa-shrek.
After my son and one of his mates ("O") spent huge chunks of the weekend playing video games, I was determined to get them out and about, so we came up here even though it was a bit drizzly. I'd actually brought them here several years ago, we had tried to catch yabbies, and we all got badly sunburnt. It was really fun but I still feel guilty about the sunburn. Today we spent heaps of time throwing rocks into the dam, trying to skim them, trying to throw clear across the dam (the boys could but I couldn't!), trying to get synchronised splashes etc etc. The sprinkle of rain got stronger so we searched for the cache, found it quickly, and I signed the log. My son took a keychain and I left some Yu-Go-Oh men and some dots.
See if you can spot the plane in the tree! TFTC!

I solved this some time back but today was the first opportunity to venture up into the high country to look for the cache. With a lone model aeroplane buzzing overhead, I first tried accessing GZ from above, but it was a bit too steep for my liking so I worked my way around to an easier descent and soon had cache in hand.
It'll most likely be a few more years yet before I have enough smileys to qualify, as I'm still not even close to half way.
Thanks for an enjoyable cache and congratulations to all the inductees.

An unexpected morning sabbatical brought me a couple of.unexpected finds today, this being one of them, even though I had plans to fetch these for my thousand, you can't pass up an opportunity for a.find and there's still one more, right? Besides the fact I've been here before and knew what I was looking for, present company certainly made an easy find even easier.
Nice to find a themed TB within, and replaced the pencil from the ground back to the cache.
Lucky for me the planes were flying making the visit even more enjoyable - and I found it highly amusing to see one of them chucking loops while flying backwards! Thanks for the fun Opa-shrek - I look forward to the other and being inducted into the club soon

Cache check ... all is well here.
Dropped off Swordkey of Love & Power TB ... which cachers need to be able to access the nearby Prince in Distress cache. Not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, I also picked up the TB that had previously been dropped here in order to keep it moving.

I felt at home when I went to the area for this one. Up until a year ago I lived at the bottom of the hill at Narara. I have a cache hidden in the general area. When I completed the puzzle I was not sure if I had the last number of the eastings correct. When I arrived I moved until my southings were as calculated as I felt these were correct. After a short search as I moved along this line the eastings matched one of the options I had calculated and there it was. Thanks for this one, it was good to go back to this area. The cache is dry and in good condition. An interesting area especially for those who have not been there before.
Having solved the puzzle last night I was looking forward to when I could get an early mark from work (got to love winter!), grab the dogs and head off to search for this one. I wasn't too confident of finding it, as I had trouble with solving #2 which I worked on first. But when it got to solving this one ( #1) I was familiar with opa-shreks puzzle style and voilá, a cache was found! Arriving at GZ, the dog (I took only one of my 4) ran around having a great time, thankfully avoiding the green murk whilst I focused on the hunt. I have to say it took about 10 mins for the hide to reveal. Enjoyed coming back here as I used to ride horses here back in my youth Thanks opa-shrek for a great cache and for honouring the cachers that have achieved these milestones.
We strolled over here after #2 and tied up the dogs to keep them from the water then changed levels. jfindit soon saw a SPOR and we logged and returned to the dogs really not enjoying their confinement. Thanks to opa-shrek for another great cache.
6613 Caches Found
After having looked at the Puzzles late last night decided it would be a good chance to exercise the Geo Dawgs and find a couple of Caches. So loaded both the Geo Dawgs into the Geo Truck and after a few minutes of jockeying for position on the seat they sorted themselves out and we we off. On arrival at the GZ spent a few minutes letting the dogs run wild in ever encreasing circles. The we headed off to the GZ's Spent some time searching to no avail at both locations, So much for my research. While we were sitting at one of the tables rethinking our strategy. When who arrived but Mr & Mrs Fish who kindly invited us along for the hunt again, Wandered over to where their GPS pointed and after tying the Dawgs to a tree the temptation would have been to great to go for a swim in the near by dam There is only one thing worse than a wet dog in the car and that's two wet dogs Then headed over to the GZ and Lo and Behold a welll hidden cache was discovered. Great Cache, Great Location
Thanks for the adventure

Mrs Shifter was at work when this notification came through and thought "I have an hour before I can leave so I have that time to solve it", and that is exactly what happened. The puzzle was solved in between working (or was work done in between solving?) Thankfully the cache is about 3km from Mrs Shifter's work, so after work there was a quick drive up the hill and a short walk in a good area that we always enjoy.
Unfortunately Mrs Shifter had an appointment at 3.30 so was unable to solve both "Flying High" Club caches, find them and return in time.
It was important to us that we be the first finders of this cache as we are one of the founding members of the club.
Thanks for the cache and the recognition opa-shrek.

My hearty congrats to the Shifters. It seems fitting that, as the first Coastie to 1,000, they are the first to find this tribute cache. Well done!
