Bowen Town April 24 Adventure- Did what most people did and went around and around and around. Then the NSWOA conducted some intel gathering and married that up with GZ. Bingo TFTC
A challenging search here which took some track down. T4tC vectis,Civvnr&MissTreadlightly....(UK) Geocaching.com finds so far 11425
Spend ages circling the tree, even had the bright idea to climb to the top to try spotting from an arrial view (which was totally unnecessary) Eventually located the cache when we arrived at ground level again TFTC!
Just hanging there minding it's own business waiting for you to log. Lovely spot. Thanks
Nearly marched straight past this location, I was on a roll! This one took me a while until I finally saw it. People behind the hedge were in the garden but they were mulching not taking much notice of me . Many thanks for the cache.
After a DNF in 2019 another attempt was long overdue so today we headed out to Bowentown with one of our main missions being to turn this one into a smiley.
Once at GZ the search began and we were briefly joined by a local dog who came over to see what was going on. But he soon got bored and headed off into a nearby property.
After a bit of looking up and down and circling the tree the cache suddenly revealed itself to our great relief. How did we not see that sooner.
Great to turn this into a smiley.
TFTC.

Woohoo our 100th cache!! Found this one unscrewed and on the ground but signed and safely returned. TFTC!
Wow what a cool spot! Found with OwlieTeam. On a beautiful work this morning. TFTC.
We’re staying a couple of nights at Waihi Beach. Picked up a few caches locally today. Went for a meander along the first part of this walkway in the evening and found three caches including this one. Much of the ground near this tree was still under water following Cyclone Gabrielle earlier last week. I had to take a convoluted route to get to it. Then spent a moment or two endeavouring to spot the cache. Simple if you’re looking in the right direction, but that doesn’t always happen straightaway! #5923. TFTC.

Thought an afternoon stroll was in order and this track was perfect with all ots caches! Cache has no lid and not sure of it was just a replacement or not?
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit … we are now parked up at the NZMCA Campsite in Waihi Beach … we decided that as we had time on our hands we would go for a walk & pick up a cache or two … found with no issues, log completed & returned … pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally … TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #2,592 for us.
Found it nestled at the bottom as the previous finder had said
Thanks for putting this here for me to find

Staying in Bowentown for a few days. Finally some fine weather to go for a ride.
No sign of the hide to begin with. Casting our eyes further afield we first spotted a pill bottle lid in pieces possibly attacked by a wed eater. Then I spotted a black film canister about 3m away. Yay. This log looks current. Signed and replaced at the base of the tree. TFTC

Had a look while I was out walking. It's gone. I didn't think that it would last. Too open.
Thanks for your amazing cache. I really appreciate the time you took to set up and maintain your caches.
I had no success back in October. Obviously now been replaced. Very open so I hope that it will last. I found it yesterday but had no pen so went back today.
Cheers, Cympull.

Beautiful tree. Put in a replacement. Great memories here, spent a lot of summers here with my family. Nana use to swim down here. Messaged CO.
Nice and dry even though just on the ground. Couldn’t think where it maybe should have been so returned as found. NINO TFTC
I came to Waihi Beach to check out this secret cycleway. Great to have some caches to find while enjoying the ride. Thanks for hiding vectis
Got thisone sorted. Cheers.
Day 13 - Wednesday 30 December - Waihi - Athenree - Tauranga. Moving south again. Lets Go!
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are off on another geocaching escape over Xmas, this time to the mighty Coromandel, then over to Opotiki and stop off at Rotorua to return home on 5 January. Had an fabulous time exploring many wonders of our country. Rounding up over 400 caches along the way, with a few LABS, 20 odd TMGTs, virtuals and lots of interesting earth caches to keep the mind busy. Watching the sun come up on New Years Day at Mt Maunganui was spectacular. Lots of walking and even more driving. But had an awesome time. Thanks to all COs who made this adventure so special.

There are a lot of local connections around here - to the cycleway or to the beach. Nice.
Taybeedragon and I went on a tour of the Coromandel - one of the few places of New Zealand, especially of Te ika a Maui, that I have yet to explore throughly, and from there along the coast to Opotiki to see one of my many, many sisters. From 18 December to 5 January we found over 400 caches, including 12 adventure labs (60 caches), 20 or so TMGTs and a host of virtuals and earthcaches. And I hosted an event to see the sun come up on New Year's day - surprisingly popular given that it was at 5am. We climbed a lot of hills, saw some amazing beaches that were quite popular despite (or because of) the insane access to them, walk a lot of bush, entered and explored 8 gold mines and generally had an awesome time. However I am glad to be back, but now is the hard part, and I fear it will take just as long - logging!

Quick one! Found on ground and looks like it should be hanging so hanged it a meter above ground! TFTC
While the Covid 19 rahui is in place we are not supposed to drive to a place for a walk. All the locals geocachers should have found this one by now.
Anyone geocaching during this time is putting themselves and others at risk by handling the containers, stash and logs. So this cache is disabled until this present emergency ends.
I reserve the right to disable any logs dated during the lockdown.

Walking along cycle way again with geopup in search of another cache to earn leap year souvenir. Nice quick find. TFTC.
On our trip through NZ had some relaxing time in Waihi Beach. Taking the bike and doing the secret cycleway. Haven't found them all, but the other ones were easy to find.. CO, thanks for placing and maintaining these caches and showing us this cycleway!!
Greetings from the UK. Stopped off at Waihi beach on the beginning of out tour of NZ. Picked up this nearby cache while mrs m went swimming. Cache was found on ground so rehung - maybe a bit more securely.

The oak tree has has a bit of maintenance and the cache was visible from 20 metres. We signed and left it a bit more obscured but once right in under the tree it should be very visible, well off the ground, tftc
Tijdens ons verblijf op de free campsite bij het strand enkele caches kunnen loggen. TFTC
One of the best parts of geocaching is discovering areas that we never would normally. Down here on holiday and decided to come for a bike ride. Tftc
Down this way for some R&R with Mrs stik-a-crane whilst junior was at respite, and EIR-0T was away doing a DOE tramp on Rangitoto......
Nice little cycle path here....

Nice area for a walkway...dodging the rain so only got one done but hopefully will be back for the rest....staying at lovely Athenree...
Spending the day in the area to find sufficient caches to complete mystery challenge. Great day to be out and about with no muggles and no rain so far TFTC.
Found as a part of a previous group TanjackMüley, aka WanderingSparrow. Now I'm continuing on my own. TFTC
After reading a few previous logs we were 50/50 if we were going to find anything. Shortly after arriving we found but the cache was kind of dropped by the back of the tree. Not very well placed. We placed the cache back where it was found it, at the only tree matching the hint. By the photo you can see the original container and the log that's not been signed since 2018. Thank you for the cache.
Camping nearby. Quick walk and sign.
Decided to walk the track before the rain started.
Nearly gave up on this one till I stepped on it. I have put it in a position that the next cacher will understand, and replace the same way. Caching is getting people to the location to hopefully find the cache without having to crawl around in a hit and miss situation. Thanks for putting a cache here.

We looked all around but couldn't spot the cache, which is strange since it seems to have only been replaced recently. Might need to be checked.
We are on a road trip in our campervan to do some bike trails with geocaches along them and the plan is to head to Bowentown and on up to Whangamata then on to Pauanui. All these places have bike trails with geocaches along them so I wish to thanks the C O s who placed the geocaches along the trails as We really enjoy doing trails and getting geocaching numbers up.
Other geocaches were also sought out as we went along to help fill the day in. We were pleased most caches were well maintained and only had 3 no finds along the way
many thanks

To be honest, I didn't spend much time here as it hasn't been found recently. I think such a lovely tree in a holiday place would be a magnet for curious kids.
This is certainly a well-used cycle way. I am enjoying the views as I plod along. TFTC
Found it as the light faded and had fun as I dropped the lid and had to use the torch to find it to replace TFTC
This afternoon was perfect for doing a little walk in order I didn't have my bike with me. Most of the boxes were found soon, only two or three caches needed a longer surch.
Thanks for the caches!
Thanks for the caches!
Find #800 for me! Quite happy with that since I only started geocaching in January 2018. Since I was in the area for the CITO event in the gorge I thought I'd do some geocaching in the area. Someone told me this was a nice little walking/cycling track and they were right! Great place to hide some caches. I didn't have a replacement log but I was able to find some paper in my bag so have made a temporary log. TFTC
