With a few bonus days up our sleeves, we headed off a few days early to get some bonus caches. Without the caravan in tow, we had the opportunity to stop for some that we wouldn't otherwise be able to get.Pulled into the generous parking area and Andy headed off to find the cache. Lots of sandflies and bumblebees around today. Andy arrived back with the cache and log was duly signed. Once it was put back as found, we headed off over the bridge to travel a back road with a few caches on it. tftc#7194
It's a shame the blackberries weren't ripe. The first cache on my bucket list trip.
On holiday with busy paws and heading to Motueka. Enjoying caching on the way. Thanks for this cache, bumandworker.
On a trip North with coconuts3. A few brambles here so happy that it's early in the growing season!! No probs with the cache. Thanks
Collecting a few more 'minute' caches. Another trip up to Nelson then Blenheim for the night for work.
All fine here too!
TFTC bumandworker, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 2 find(s) of 4 today, making this find #4232

The waiting log was just a sodden wad of gooey paper so we replaced and double bagged a new one. Hopefully it stays a bit dryer in its hidey hole. Watch out for sandflies. They’re starting to bite again.

Yet another work related road trip for us. Picking up some caches along. Cache is all good here. TFTC.

Very very wet inside the cache. Tried to dry out a bit and signed.
Also, watch out for crawly prickly wines on the ground! They will trip ya up!
After logging the cache went to have a look at the bridge and discovered there is an apple tree right next to it. Tasty apples!

#10177. Day 6 of the South Island road trip around the top of the South Island (Canterbury and Westland) with Infoferret. This trip was planned to replace the Labour weekend Auckland Mega adventure. We have stayed overnight in Murchison and today are heading to Christchurch. The weather has improved in the morning and by time we reached Canterbury it was like a hot summers day.
We are on our way to Lewis Pass now but decided to stop here and find this one. This was one I managed to find. It was a bit further away than I was expecting but a pleasant walk through the large trees soon revealed the cache. Signed the logbook and replaced where found. Thanks bumandworker for hiding it here. You certainly have scattered a lot of caches for us to find in interesting places in the South Island.

Came out here after travelling West Bank.
Nicely tucked away . Drained cache and cleared drainage from its possy. Thanks

After a week of work in Hanmer it's time to head home to complete the loop. An easy find here.
Heading home after walking the St James Walkway...looking for caches and trying not to get too wet in the rain...
As often seems to be the case, someone else also wants to pull over in the same place as me, but happily they did not stay long.
Out of the car and towards the GZ. Spot the likely hiding place and extract the cache. Not too wet (me, not the log).
Thanks bumandworker

Almost 12 months ago, 15th Jan 2020, we were heading to Nelson to visit Grandchildren, and found a few caches. Lost the book, now after tidying my desk, there it was all the time! So finally logging. TFTC
Thanks for putting out this cache for woolwood9 and I to find????SL tm/ww NZ (may just be a black smudge on the many wet or plastic logs)Long drive / walk around today, we enjoyed the caches.*We soon had another good cache located!* ????
A nice place to pull over. We're on our way home from I taking my Dad over to Nelson to see his Aunt. Thanks bumandworker for creating this hide. It was find 8781 for me.

Visiting the South Island as the grown up kids are on Uni holidays. Heading up to Nelson today collecting some caches on the way. Wonderful sunny day although cold and frosty to start with. Trying hard to contribute to domestic tourism post Covid.
First time over Lewis Pass. Loved the scenery with all the snow capped mountains. TFTC

Found while returning home to Blenheim after a weekend in Hanmer. Beaut day today for a few stops. TFTC
Parked and found our way to the cache which was filled with water - the log was mulch so popped a new log in and double bagged it thanks for the cache - a quick stop on our way home to Motueka
We quickly found this one but the cache was full of water and the bag all sodden, We emptied and double bagged the log so hopefully this will keep going for a while yet, Thanks for the cache ,
Make my wall back down to oamaru, from Blemhiem, taking the long way of coruse grabbing the odd cache here an there. Many thanks to all the cache placers. -Bitsprayer
Been in Christchurch for a week, stopping for some caches on our way to Motueka. All good here. Thanks for the cache
Thanks for this cache, b&w.
Nobody else was stopped here, so a good opportunity to calim this cache. Amazing / disgusting litter around - I totally agree with the last cacher's comments.
I overlooked the obvious, intially, so had a bit of a wander around - duh!

I wanted to get this cache a few days ago but some young people had made a slip and slide on the rivers edge and were having a good time. I was a bit jealous because it was a hot day and a swim would have been a great treat. So here I am and now I can get the cache. It was good to see that someone had put up a sign nearby telling people to stop using the area as a toilet because it was obvious that over there it has been a busy toilet for arseholes who can't plan their journey appropriately. Anyways, thanks bumandworker for placing this cache.
Took a very circuitous track to finally almost come full circle. Nice spot but. TFTC.
A quick find on route to Nelson. Thank-you bumandworker for placing this cache for our enjoyment. Out caching with Will of the Wisp on our “Round the World in 80 Days” trip to celebrate retirement. Signing logs with our names or initials depending on space. Greetings from England, TFTC.
Beautiful day for Geocaching.
Quick search around and it wasn’t long before the cache was spotted.

A lovely spot - - and obviously a very popular stopping spot - - though probably not quite as busy as when it was on the main highway between Picton and Christchurch. TFTC .
On a week's walking and caching holiday with trifolia argentea we aimed for 100 caches. Thanks to all cache owners.
Driving to St Arnaud from Christchurch we picked up some drive by caches though we really cache to explore nature and history, not to increase our cache count. However, Park and grabs are good to break up long trips on windy roads (settling queasy stomachs). TFTC

We were off to go on a bit of a hike with the very very extended whanau (10 of us in total ) and so there was a bit of a drive on the way to Nelson lakes! Made for a bit of caching time! Thanks for all the hides along the way.

Heading away for a few days towards Murchison with the extended whanau for a bit of hiking and some caching on the way, signing the log books as Team Polak for all of us. Lunch was long overdue, so good excuse to stop for a bit. TFTC!!
This cache was found on my great journey by campervan from Christchurch to Auckland. All good at GZ. Nice and plesant park and grab. TFTC
Thwarted last time I was here by campervan parked up by gz having a cup of tea. No such trouble today. Quick find. Many thanks.

This was the fifth day of my driving trip down to Oamaru for Geofest 2017. I stopped every five to ten kms or so along the way to grab a cache. This expanded my driving time to a total of two weeks to get there and home again. I ended up going a total of 3,500 kms. TFTC.
Mr HG happy to have a slow trip to Hanmer so able to look for a few caches. Replaced the wet plastic bag hoping it will help for a while longer. Tftc
Found with NZDi on our return trip to Blenheim after going to Cirque de Soleil's: Toruk - The First Flight stage show last night in Christchurch. Yesterday on our trip south we were a bit pressed for time to do any caching, partially due to a 30 minute delay at Springs Junction, waiting for the road to reopen after overnight snow, and partially due to a 90 minute delay due to a truck driver who couldn't... drive that is, and rolled his truck. If you want some potatoes, there are plenty lying on the road between the Hanmer Springs turn-off and the bottom of the Lewis Pass, although I think they might have a bit of a diesel flavour. Anyway, due to the delays, we didn't have time for caching, so we did a few on the return journey.
Having curtailed our caching on the other side of the Lewis Pass as it looked like it was about to snow again and we didn't want to get caught on the Canterbury side, we decided to do some caching from Springs Junction back to the Wairau Valley. Unfortunately it had started to rain and we were trying to outrun it. We would get to a cache in the dry, but by the time we had found and signed the log, the rain would have caught up with us again.
Another QEF PnG here.

Making our way home from Hawarden with my Mum and Dad. They are more willing to stop and wait for me than my Husband is on most trips. A very chilly day, 3 degrees, but still sunny. QEF. TFTC
Back on the state highway again after a very enjoyable drive along the Maruia West Bank Road. Time for a cache and some lunch here as there is plenty of safe off road parking.

We had to do a bit of maintenance here as the Log Book was full.Added a new strip of paper. It will make do for the time being..TFTC
Rained all the way down from Nelson but eased a bit so risked the first hunt of the day. River looks a bit angry! Took a while looking in the wrong spot but got it eventually. Tftc
Got a campervan today and loaded my recumbent bike after the south island tour. Heading north. TFTC.
On our way from Kaikoura to Murchison, missed the ones at Lewis Pass, so this one had to become the "cache of the day". So it did, nicely hidden at a lovely spot.

Such a nice little spot beside the river. Found on our geocaching road trip honeymoon.
A classic hide from the C O here, log a bit too damp too sign I think, nothing to replace with, sorry, replaced as found. T F T C b&w
Day 3 of our mini-holiday and time to head back over the (Lewis Pass) hill. On the way we stopped off at a few, but not all, geocaches to help break up the journey, and also convert a few greenies into yellow smiley faces. Laetitia seemed bitten by the caching bug and accompanied me for most of the finds all the way home, even finding a few before me!
We have a foreign exchange person over from New Caledonia for this week, and the school holidays are still on so it's only reasonable to show our visitor, Laetitia, some of the sights and sites around our back-yard, and beyond. So it was decided that we would stay in the work 'bach' at Hanmer Springs for a couple of nights and recent road closures etc meant that the trip from Murchison to Hanmer along the alternate route would take us past some previously untraveled roads and therefore afford us even more scenic experiences, and a few caches of course.

#8625. A stop off State Highway 65 in Maruia. GZ was all quiet when we visited. Quick find. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

A last minute weekend away to bait off pre-winter cabin fever. This one was hunted down by Grace while Mum was busy collecting Kan Tabs for Kidney Kids off all the trash disguarded in the layby;s bush edge. (31tabs in total!!) Thanks for the cache
We really enjoyed the peace and scenic trip along the alternate route this afternoon. I dropped the cache in fright as it started to make an unexpected rattling noise. Felt a bit stupid then and opened it to find it contained several beads. Smiles all round then. TFTC #8282
Its Easter & have teamed up with The Seagnoid & Zara, for a magical mystery tour, exploring the amazing West Coast. Monday, and after a sleepover and early start from Aorangi Senic Reserve, we are heading home. Skipping Reefton caches, as the Seagnoid says "we will be back" and head towards Murchison via Springs Junction.
Ok its getting late so lets head home. The Seagnoid is looking for his notes book. Bugger must have left it at Maruia River. Zara turns around and we go back. Cant find it. But what - he was sitting on it. Dah. So we come back here for a quick find by the Seagnoid. Great view of the river. Cheers

On a big Easter caching mission with ZaraBus and TaybeeDragon. Lots of crawling through mines, climbing hills, walking through bush. And yet we only covered a tiny bit of the West Coast, between Greymouth and Hokitika. On the way home now, and taking the long way between Reefton and Murchison.
Drat. I've lost my cache notes! Nothing for it but to go back to the last cache, 12 km away, and get them. So Zara turned around, we headed back, got to the last cache back, and I found the cache notes, tucked down beside my seat. Arrrgh!!! We could have done 2 or three caches in that time! Oh well, turn around, come back here. At least this was an easy find

After some planning Shannonp1 and I got sorted for a mission into areas we hadn't been. Up to Hanmer through the Molesworth to Blenheim, down the Wairau valley to St Arnaud down the Shannandoa to Murchison and then home via the Lewis. 209 caches for the weekend and a pretty high success rate. Thanks to all the cache owners especially Bum and Worker and sorry for the cut and paste.
So a few weeks in the planning phase, me and Surveybase finally got out and about for a mission. Through Hanmer, up the Molesworth to Blenheim, across through St Arnaud, Murchison and then home. 209 caches for the weekend and a pretty high success rate. Thanks to all the cache owners and sorry for the cut and paste. Cheers.
Back to the main road, and I went for a look at the river. Cache stealthily collected on the way, the camper was out of sight. Signed the log, watched the river some more and replaced the cache just as stealthily. Whew, and cheers for another hide.
Found on a Waitangi Weekend to from and around Reefton
Thanks to all the CO's for their hides.

We are on route from Riwaka to Hanmer Springs to meet my sister and her husband. We made a pact to not do too much caching and just pick up a few. This is one of the few. A nice quick find. TFTC
This was a short stop here before we crossed the bridge to new territory for us and to continue caching our way towards Springs Junction and Rahu. Dropped off a TB. Thank you bumandworker.
A day trip for a cache "about the journey" but we just couldn't NOT log the P@Gs while passing. Here we started an alternative route to Springs Junction. One we planned to do for many, many years. This was just the nudge we needed. And the other prizes on the way of course before we popped out at the other end. Thank you Bumandworker
Grabbed the cache ok then parked up beside the river for a couple of nights. A lovely spot. TFTC
