Another great sunny winter day to be out and about and happened to find a cache on our way home after a very long lunch with friends at Balldale Hotel. There was no water visible at gz but we noticed lots of water along Oiltree Lagoon Road on the way to Balldale. Thanks Bingley3683 for a reason to stop and enjoy this cache.

Found It!No water to be seen here today so it was an easy little walk to GZ. Then despite what the hint says, I found the cache on the ground in the open. After signing the log, I placed it back up where it appeared to have fallen from.TFTC

A slight detour off our “main route” to grab this one. Teen Ez wanted to test out the abilities of the AWD today on many dodgy roads but luckily a firm spot on the side of the road here.
A very cool lagoon with plenty of water.

The cache was on the ground so we placed back up where we thought it should go. A strong stagnant smell here today. TFTC

It all started with the computer. Had he known what was to follow, he would have never logged on that day. But the truth was there was no way to know what was about to happen. So Dave pressed the start button, the computer booted up, the screen came alive, and everything Dave knew to be true no longer was.
The day had begun on a bright note. The sun finally peeked through the rain for the first time in a week, and the birds were singing in its warmth. There was no way to anticipate what was about to happen. It was a worst-case scenario and there was no way out of it.
The amber droplet hung from the branch, reaching fullness and ready to drop. It waited. While many of the other droplets were satisfied to form as big as they could and release, this droplet had other plans. It wanted to be part of history. It wanted to be remembered long after all the other droplets had dissolved into history. So it waited for the perfect specimen to fly by to trap and capture that it hoped would eventually be discovered hundreds of years in the future.

After the CITO in Shepparton last night and an early morning swim then 7am event, it was off on a day of LGA exploring in NSW. Having not caches or explored much over the border today was the day for it.

The light was fading and this was the last cache on the list for today. I initially approached from the wrong side only to find that I was close but would get seriously wet if I were to access the cache from this side.

Changing my approach, I was soon in my way to the cache and managed to reach it staying completely dry.

Thanks Bingley3683 for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy.

Heading out of town for the long weekend and picked up some caches along our journey.

We didn't know what to expect when we went over the embankment, but was happy when the riverbed and gully were dry, which allowed us to walk directly to GZ and found the cache relatively quickly.

Thanks for the hide Bingley3683

A great excuse for a much needed stretch of the legs, the gully had dried just enough to prevent me getting muddy.

Cache found without any issues. And all looks to be in good order. Not too much water around today despite all the rain this town has had recently. Took out the drone for a fly around to see what i could see, just nice and green paddocks. Thanks for the cache all is in good order!

A bouncy drive along the 'short cut' to the south,
brought me to GZ Big Grin
Beaut location again !!
No water though Razz

Cache found Big Grin

As for the name,
there are probably Melaleuca trees growing in the lagoon.
Their leaves contain oils,
which are called either Melaleuca oil,
or more commonly these days,
Tea Tree oil.
That's my guess Smile

Catching up on a few late logs from a recent caching run at Wagga and managed to make a quick stop in this quaint little area to make a nice straight forward find. Just a little stretch and the cache was soon in hand, not much water about at the moment but l will be interested in coming past another day once the rains have set in. Thanks Bingley3683 for the hide and for highlighting this spot.

Out and about with Geo Granni this afternoon (gosh we got around s bit today!), checking on some terrestrial orchids she found in the area last season she thought she would pop out and check on them while we found a few caches.
Geo mum has spent a lot of time out at ‘Oil Tree’ with muggle brother Loone Yabbying over the years, many fond memories, some of the biggest and tastiest yabbies ever!

Murray River December 2018. I headed away with Fitzy_1965 for a weekend caching towards the Murray River near Corowa. We targeted a few series and as many DNFs from previous trips as possible. We did of course generate even more this time, but overall had a great time despite a sharp thunderstorm on Sunday morning.

Thanks.

17,166. Found during a caching weekend run down to the Murray River in the Corowa region with albida33.

After camping at the Henty Showgrounds overnight, we had an early breakfast, packed up, and hit the road for our days caching. This was the next stop for the day. Nice to see a big cluster of caches around here. Quick find at GZ. Signed the log, replaced the cache, then headed off to the next one.

Thanks Bingley3683 !! Not a drop to be seen at the moment.

Today we were heading south towards Corowa and picking up some caches along our route as well. All were quickly and easily found and there was no muggle activity as we travelled some very quiet country roads. Each log was signed and each container was replaced as found.
We can understand why diving, swimming, fishing and boating are prohibited! There simply is no water and the ground is bone dry.
Many thanks go to Bingley3683 for this contribution to our smiley additions for the day.

A nice day for a return tour in this area. All geocaches get me outdoors, and any cache may highlight ...Vistas, Flora, Fauna, Local Interests, Events & History. Perhaps even being a simple challenge. Regardless of a find or not, they are all unique and I sincerely thank the cache owner for placement of this one.

Disturbed the hare guarding the cache as we approached gz. Mob of cattle heading this way too. I thought the "lake" was between the cache & the road which was as good as dried up! It wasn't til we were back in the car & heading north that we realised the lake must have extended East from gz. Too busy looking for the cache & being distracted by the hare at gz to notice. Checked out the satellite imagery & was surprised to see how massive the lake is when full!! Tftc. It would be impressive when the lake is chokkas with all the wildlife.

The forecast wasn't supposed to be very flash today, so we hopped into the car and set of for Corowa and Bulldale. Turned out to be a very nice sunny day! We hit the Chiltern bakery late morning and continued north. Lots of new caches to grab on the way.

Emptied about an inch of water out of the cache and cleaned the O-ring (had a lot of crap under it)
The log book was floating dry in its plastic bag.
The Lagoon was full today, a very spectacular sight! Several water birds in attendance too.
Fortunately this channel was dry.Smile
Thanks, Robmc.

#4182 1:00 pm

Very rarely come out this way for anything, usually just a cache run every few years to pick up the stray "close to home" caches. Today I was out giving the 4x4 its periodic maintenance drive so took the opportunity to pick up some caches along the way.
Was a surprising amount of water here, I wasn't expecting much but certainly enough to attract the birds.

Cache was found easily, signed and placed back.
Must have a bit of trouble with vandals at the gates, enough to warrant placing a security camera across the road to watch the goings on.

TNLN , TFTC , Cheers.

Just doing a few caches this afternoon to top off a lovely sunny day. The Oiltree Lagoon did not have much water in it. Did not take long to find well hidden cache container that had water in it that we drained out.
Fortunately the log book was dry thanks to it being in a clip top bag. Nice bush area - we found a lovely small purple daisy plant on our way back to the geomobile. Thanks for interesting info in the notes.
TFTC Bingley3683 and for bringing us here to see the Oiltree Lagoon

6149. Found by baby&Mrs gopher at 1315. Overshot the closest track to here so that added an extra couple of K's to the drive. Found the container on the ground under bark in a hole with water. The container had absorbed some wet into it. We dried all and replaced the container back up in tree. SL Tnx Bingley3683

A family outing to a couple of spots that we had never ventured to before allowed us to attempt this one today.
After "Kentucky Cemetery" we back-tracked to Balldale then on to the area of the lake.
We were really surprised at how much water was there and the capacity it could contain in such an unusual location. It seemed to be teeming with birdlife...a little oasis where you'd least expect it.
It was only a short walk after alighting the vehicle to GZ, and fortunately it was dry. After reading the clue the cache was eventually found, but not where it was intended (on the ground).
SL at 1.45pm. We replaced it as found and the contents were all ok.
An amazing location for a hide! TFTC Bingley3683.

# 9550. Not the best caching day I can remember. Over 250kms driven and only 5 finds today. That was not the intention. I came unstuck in a big way - no success in 3 out of 5 multis I attempted and I lost my car keys at one cache and searched for over an hour before finding them. I should have gone straight home after that, but no I continued to torture and frustrate myself further.

Having had my butt kicked at the last Bingley cache I wasn't confident of this simple traditional but all was well and I found it! Must have been the lunch stop in the lovely little park at Balldale that did the trick. Left one of my new pathtags here. It was a bit boggy still and tricky to get to GZ.

Thanks Bingley3683

Out this was to get a couple for International Geocaching Day. There isn't much water in the Lagoon, inlet or the creek despite all the rain we have had this winter and the bird life were very quiet. Thanks Bingley for the cache.

We have noticed the small blue patch on the map in the past and had intended to visit it several times to see what it was like. Now there is a cache here we had two reasons to visit Big Grin
Although we have seen a little rain today the lagoon was mostly dry. We could see a few large puddles and some areas that were clearly very slushy......but no lake.

A bonus for us after the last couple of weeks rainfall. Both the channel and the Lagoon had some water in them! We did have to watch our step as we crossed the channel as it was quite soggy.
