I had time for one long walk or two short ones, so I chose Castle Rock and here, plus a bonus walk around town for the Hawker Adventure Lab.Very happy to have chosen this walk. Beautiful and fun!TFTEC!Answers sent
Would have loved to do the Heysen trail across the top of this range had we not had caravan issues
Walked Dutchmans stern yesterday , took a while but not too hard.Started out on this easy walk, and couldnt believe it. I know Im weak!As we were admiring the view and taking photos, a re visit to the trad, someone else came up the path, saying they didnt think that was easy either.Anyway, well worth it stunning views and lots of nibs, never noticed them anywhere else.Answers sent sitting in the caravan park resting, after not only doing the walk up to Jarvis hill, but catching the 2002 cache, now a 2 km walk in.
Nobby bits indeed! Great location for a virtual cache. Fantastic views from the track and lookout.
Love the view! Amazed that the Heysen Trail is not the smooth highway we had thought it was. We were here with Single Malt and all had some inventive answers to Q3. Sent our answers. Many thanks for an enjoyable outing, Doctor Owl!
On our travels we found ourselves in Hawker and took the opportunity to walk to the lookout and of course grab a couple of caches, a nice evening walk to the top for some amazing views, thanks for bringing us here
Travelling with richlink up the coast of WA to Darwin and back through the centre to SA and home across the Nullabour home again. Today we did the loop from Hawker and back enjoying the stunning scenery, and history along the way. This was one of the caches we found today. Thanks, Doctor Owl.
Travelling with iluvtrekking up the WA coast to Darwin, down the Centre and now in the Flinders Ranges. We haven’t been further than Hawker on previous trips and are in awe of the stunning scenery. Quite a workout to get up that hill but rewarded with amazing views. Answers sent to CO. Thanks Doctor Owl
Came to this location totally unprepared. We all had our Japanese safety boots on but we still managed the climb and it was worth it! Thanks for bringing us here.
Had a nice walk to the nobbly bits, got the answers and sent off to CO, then enjoyed the view and surrounds. TFTEC.
The return trip of our epic Flinders expedition with Mattycat and Perfect DI had us at Hawker for a couple of nights, a nice little hike to some terrific views and these interesting features, collated info for CO, a trip to the flinders has been a huge geology lesson giving us a better understanding of this magnificent part of South Australia

We’ve visited Hawker several times but never ventured up this hill, so today we fixed that !! As with so many parts of the Flinders some very interesting geology and wonderful views! Thanks for the earthcache Doctor Owl.
Great walk up to the nobbly bits. The Jarvis folk were kind to let this become such a super trail. Answers to follow. TFTC Dr Owl
Found by Sunshine Toledo and Her Majesty at 1:00pm. With permission we log this cache. It was again an interesting climb/ scramble up the hill to the lookout. The views are staggering and the rocks are worth a serious look as they are a little different than usual. TFTC

This wa supposed to be a family walk but some tourists in trouble down the bottom took Geo Dads attention, luckily he had hte tools they needed, Geo MUm was less likley to go without Dad so Geo son led the charge with Geo daughter in tow. THey fluffed up one of hte answers but they made the CO laugh so permission was granted, thanks for that Doctor Owl we do appreciate that. THe feedback was good and we learnt a thing or two, not all about rocks either! TFTC
Day 3
logging with permission. Hiked up the hill, stopped to do the earth cache. Nice views here. We looked at the rocks, no licking of the rocks needed here. We got some answers and then keep walking up to get the nearby cache. Also this location is the best example of " nobbly bits " i have seen this trip, there are other places but none as widespread as this location.
found with Mogni and Jacknor. We where heading up Carrieton for a couple of days and then on to the Flinders Rangers for 5 days. The plan was to find as many of the church multi's as we could going up and then bright and early the next day head off to the " Bendleby Ranges " 4 x 4 tracks. Then clear the next section of multi's between Carrieton and Rawnsley Station and of course a few stray trads that would help Jacknor's jasper grid. A straight week of over 30 degrees meant less hiking than planned but we still got to the top of Rawnsley Bluff as well as some other smaller hikes. The Rawnsley station 4 x 4 track was completed and by then it was time to decamp and start the drive home. Stopped at orroroo and cleared the town out before going back to the church multi grind. All caches that where found that were brittle or damaged were replaced and extra logs added to those caches that the scroll was full or almost full, except for nano's. Nano's are evil spawn and you can do your own maintanence on them.

Holiday time, a week in the Flinders Rangers with sir_spectre and Jacknor. We had lots of fun, walk and of course found some caches. Sir_spectre sent answers in on my behalf. Not a bad walk with great views.

First for the day and it's always good to start with a find .
Another windy day, and even more so up here, including some sticky clay in the carpark to add to the fun . There was already another vehicle here, but ended up having the place to ourselves (at least for awhile) .
Took photos. Left footprints. Submitted answers.
Thanks Dr Owl.

Spending a whole week in the Flinders, hiking the Heysen Trail with End-2-End Nine. Jarvis Hill was Day 4 but this was also our wettest day. The climb out of the car park was pretty slippery and a few thoughts of going back were suggested. Even the bus couldn't make it up the hill, so we walked from about halfway up. We persevered in our walk and were rewarded when the clouds parted and the view from the top was revealed.
There were lots of knobbly bits to look at. Aided the traction in some sections.
I sent the answers to the CO, who found them satisfactory. Woohoo! Found with Csaba!
Thanks for the cache, Doctor Owl.

Hiked along the Heysen Trail with Malco! and 52 other hikers today. The morning started off with rain and no view but by morning tea the clouds had moved on. Thanks for bring me here again.
Found with e.gregory1 while attending the JLWE. Did the research and came up with a very sensible answer and one completely implausible. Thanks for an interesting Earthcache at a very scenic location Doctor Owl!
Found with FeatherWaite while in the area to attend the Quorn June Long Weekend events.
We wandered up the hill to complete this earthcache and find the traditional cache nearby.
The track had knobs on it! But the views were worth it.
Thanks Doctor Owl for a fun earthcache.

We walked the walk and we are glad we did. This was time 2 for H423L - and soon she will do again on her trek as she completes the Heysen trail - end to end - what a feat that will be. She tells me that the hills are not getting any easier even though her fitness is through the roof.
Did I say great chat with the McKee's up here.
Found with H423L on an epic trip up to find Pluto (GCG32B) - the furthest known planet at the time of TeamAstro's solar system inception. There was dust, flies, more dust, no mud and a million stars at night. There were no tyre issues. The geocaching led us to spectacular spots that were out of the way - and a few spots that were popular as it was the school holidays. We cached a few caches with others and it was good to see our friends on the trail.
Thanks to Doctor Owl and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet!

found in company of a couple cachers, astro and H423L. was a great adventure and always amazes me catching up with geocachers on the trails. We were very surprised especially in the middle of nowhere. so cool to catch up and loved the cache.
We came, enjoyed the view, and checked out some nobbly bits!
Tossed around some ideas and sent theories to the good doctor.
Have to come back another day for that dodgy trad nearby!
Found along with Jack and Sebastbat.
Thanks for the cache Doctor Owl

After spending the night at Parachilna, we made the most of the last few hours in the Flinders Ranges area. I didn’t think we would have time to get to the lookout and I had not printed the cache page, but on the way I wrote down the questions and suggested a stop.
Well worth it, nice walk, panoramic views and interesting rocks, trying to remember what we had seen and learned in the Brachina Gorge. Answers were sent… the best we could.
I purposely hid the fact that there was a traditional cache nearby, having read that it was near the edge, as I didn’t want Mr. P. to go for it, enough risk had been taken unnecessarily on Lake Bumbunga (totally his own making… Dr Owl’s comment: “glad he didn’t become a permanent feature of the lake” ) so we ignored it..
Many thanks Doctor Owl for the earthcache and taking us on Jarvis Lookout Hill, another discovery.

Well the nobbly bits certainly came in handy to stop the shoes slipping on the rocks. A great place to look out on the valley below. Answers being sent. TFTC
Found It!
Collected the answers here after finding the nearby traditional cache. Some great views here just as the sun was setting!

Been wanting to stop here for ages, was never allowed to! hahaha
Anyways came up for a nice walk as sun rising. Found some answers, which are on the way soon, then headed up further to the lookout.
Thanks for the EC

Great walk, a bit slippery when wet and Mrs m managed to slip over and bang her head on a tree! Apart from that, we really enjoyed this little hike, and the views at the end. Didn't have any luck finding the traditional cache here, but thank goodness for the Earthcache! Definitely worth a visit if you're in the Hawker area. Logged with permission - thanks!
Logged with permission. Having finished work early some caches called. Usually stay further north so it was nice to have some time in an area we don't see in detail. Driving out to Jarvis Hill revealed another cache on the ridge, hiding under the nearby trad. It's certainly an interesting piece of geology. That's Dr Owl.
Today we are travelling from Hawker to Leigh Creek and the clouds look like they are lifting so hopefully we will drive out of the rain today picking up a cache of two along the way in this scenic area.
We looked at doing this one late yesterday afternoon in the drizzling rain but decided to save it for this morning and we are glad that we did because the scenery was much better today in the sunlight. Recovering from a knee replacement the climb was a little harder than expected but we took it slow and got there in the end. It was well worth the walk. We enjoyed collecting the answers and discussing what the cause might be and sent our answers off to the CO.
Many thanks again Dr. Owl, for the cache and for permission to log, a favourite point from us.
An awesome location revisited - as I have previously found the trad here.
What a great view.
What a great view.
Impressive views of the Flinders Ranges. Not a cloud in the sky. Signs of recent alien activity.

After arriving in Hawker earlier than we thought we many, many kms behind us, I loved the idea of coming out here for this EC and the views. After an ok drive (a little bumpy and the last part very, very steep) the geo family set off. I'm so very glad I decided to come out here, the views were just amazing and with a fun earth cache to do, it just topped off the walk for us. Answers sent to CO.

Published in July 2015 and still only one finder? Well that calls for a road trip!!!! hahaha no I wasn't the crazy one that travels all this way just for a cache. I was heading to the Finders Ranges for the long weekend to catch up with a local photographer to go shooting with. After setting up camp I shot back to Hawker to do a bit of shooting and caching. As I was sitting on the mountain I emailed my answers.. Lets just say I giggled a little to much about them and was hoping Doctor Owl found them just as amusing.
Well answer to that is she did... and I was granted permission to log SILVER!
Thanks for the Earth Cache Doctor Owl loved it and never would of come here if it wasn't for this
Fav Point for sure

Muggle partner and I were staying at Bendleby Ranges and 4WDing with my sister, her partner and some other muggles.
Today the two of us headed out alone to get me some caches
By day's end, I had 7 more smileys and some quality ones at that! [^]
I got FTF on an earthcache, found a cache that hadn't been found for 3 years and saw some awesome views.....geocaching at its best!
Amazing views that went on for ever! [^]
Yes, there were Nobbly Bits, quite a few of them.
I looked, I felt the Nobbly Bits, I pondered, I sms'd the CO and I was cheerfully informed that my answers were correct and that I could claim *FTF*
Apparently geocaching is improving my geological knowledge!
Even muggle partner enjoyed being up here
