A lot of very interesting information while working through this cache. Even GZ provided added intrigue. After discounting where my GPS was trying to pinpoint me, I spotted a particularly suspicious place and was soon signing the log. Thanks for the local history lesson.
We spent a great day at Oatley Park with Moorhelmi. Thank you for laying this cache.
There are still a few caches to collect in Oatley Park. And we were actually able to find and successfully log two multis, the lab caches with the bonus and a traditional and a myst. We had a great day in the park with wonderful views and lovely walks. Always accompanied by the calls of the cockatoos. Many thanks to GeodudeAu for placing the caches. Greetings from the Moorhelmi from Bavaria
Sans llama_boy it was now just rassilon256 and I left to continue today's caching adventure. It was hard to read the letters but we figured it out and soon had the cache in hand. Some cool history here!
Fascinating historical site in own backyard. Didn't find cache on first visit returned and found with little help from previous log re stones etc
Nice to solve the puzzle and investigate this historical site however ran out of time looking for cache.
Stopped by the first stage. After a bit of looking I found what I needed. Nice. Made the short hike to stage two where I found the cache fairly quickly! Thanks!
Super fascinating stuff that I definitely wouldn’t have known about if not for the cache! Thanks for hiding this and telling us all about it!
Locating the WP1 inscription was quite tricky as the coords didn’t have many anywhere near it apparently, but as others have said, a quick Google search was very helpful
Circled around the park and found some other caches before coming back to this one; the directions in the description were spot on and had me at the cache in no time ️
Signed and returned as found; TFTC!

The coordinates were pretty spot on. The 2nd way point was super tricky. Don’t leave any stones unturned. My first multigeocache with my best friend!
Challenge was locating the inscription WP1 but once information was retrieved it was a quick trip to GZ. Instructions were clear and soon had cache in hand. TFTC
Second find today on a great Oatley Park walk.
The map of Tasmania was a challenge and I’ve never noticed those steps before, despite walking round Oatley Park hundreds of times!

OCW GGCoconut and HJBanana. What else does one do on a special one off public holiday? Cache of course! Despite the threat of rain, we headed out to Oatley Park, a destination we had not visited before... wow! What a great spot! Lots of lovely trails to explore and some great views to take in! We were incredibly lucky with the weather too, the rain held off except for one short shower while we were driving between parking spots. And the cooler weather made for a pleasant stroll along the trails.
We are having an amazing afternoon exploring this place - it such a great area and so interesting to get an understanding of its military history. Can't get over the incredible adventure playground nearby. This came in quite handy as I was able to crunch the numbers while GGC and HJB explored. Then a shortish walk to my calculated GZ. At first I was unsure whether the co-ords I had were correct, but then I noticed the items referred to. I think it just wasn't as obvious at first due to the direction I approached from. From there, it was a nice straightforward find. TFTC!

Found It!
An interesting bit of history you'd never know about if not for this cache. The map at WP1 is a bit hard to read but I seemed to get the right numbers on the first attempt at reading it. Then wandered over to GZ and soon spotted the cache.

Last week we struggled at WP1. Reading logs when we got home soon gave us the GZ coords. We returned today and successfully completed this mission. TFTC GeodudeAu
Found with SueDan83. Nice easy find in obvious spot but the hard part was working the puzzle TFTC
It’s about time! Mrs Gaztek visited here in February 2021 and failed to find the map. On approach we did some online helpful online research. On arrival we had a poke around and there it was clear as day!! We did the calcs and headed over to GZ. The cache notes are right, the slab is much bigger than expected. The cache is where the coordinates and the advice suggests and is safe no dry. Thanks for this interesting history lesson! SL TFTC Cheers… Gaztek
Out during a break in the rain for a wander around Oakley Park. Nice place.
Returned many years after my DNF soon after this multi was published.
Quite a simple multi and just can’t recall the struggles I had at the same GZ. The hide appears to be highlighted and not as hidden as my previous visit, thanks for keeping it alive and maintaining this multi geodudeAU

Found with The Teddies. The Tasmania sign was very difficult to read but a quick google search allowed us to discover what was engraved on the sign. TFTC!
GeodudeAU I found your cache Oatley Park Military on 28/12/2021, 2:55 pm. This is my find 3256 and find # 3 today. Found the map, did the calculations and came up with some favourable coordinates. Went to Stage 2 and what did I find, 3 steps. Definitely in the right area. Read the instructions and it wasn’t long before I had CIH. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN
What a beautiful day to be doing some caching in southern and soutwest Sydney, almost too hot at times.
I grabbed a handfull of Labs and mixed bag of caching types as I made my way around the burbs.
Plenty of history associated with Oatley Park, go the answers and soon had the prize in and.
Thanks to all the CO's for placing thier caches and the wildlife encounters I had along the way.

The day being completely miserable albeit outside instead of being stuck inside I didn’t fancy getting too much wetter than I already was. I decided to take my chances on my recon skills and perhaps look for a random set of stairs as we were driving round in circles finding the adventure lab cache. Lo and behold I believe this may be it. Looking, looking, looking and what do you know. Not in the spirit of the multi however found none the less. Next time we come back I’ll look for the map in the rock, we promise. This is a great park now as last time we were here the only attraction was the steam roller, now there’s a massive slide off a climbing tower and plenty of under cover tables to picnic out of the sun. Swapped out the TB. TFTM geodudeau
I enjoyed my walk here last week so came back again and decided on a walk around Lime Kiln Bay. I'd found the map of Tasmania last week and today found the cache on my walk. Left a TB. Some interesting history. Thanks
I found all the info. and wondered why my coords did not look quite right. Redoing the calculations on a large screen gave me the right answer. This will be found on another trip.
First day/weekend back caching out of area after the lockdown, woohoo. So nice to be out there again.

Finally got this guy the things to look out for are really hard to find. The Tassie map you'd never find by accident, it blends right in, and the structure the hint alludes to has eroded sufficiently that it doesn't stand out. Have been looking for the Tassie map for a couple of years, was great to finally find it.
I have been here a long time ago doing a few of the caches when I wasn't premium so no longer had all the numbers from memory got to stage 2 at lunchtime and there was a minibus with about 20 kiddies running around. This time there were only geocachers made it a lot easier to look
With cache in hand we signed the log and replaced as found. Both the cache and log are in good condition. Thanks for bringing me to the area and thanks for placing the cache GeodudeAu

Out for an afternoon cache run collecting some caches around Oatley Park. A nice two stage multi - information was gathered from WP1 before doing some quick calculations and then proceeded to walk around to our calculated coordinates. Initially nothing was found that matched the hint, then on rechecking our calculations discovered we had subtracted one digit instead of adding. New coords not too far away and once at GZ we made a quick find of the container. With the cache in hand we signed the log before replacing as found. Both the cache and log are in good condition. Thanks for the cache GeodudeAU.
The following TBs came through for the mileage : Vanlith The Youngling, Bob geoMinion, Dave geoMinion, Evil geoMinion, Larry geoMinion, Jerry geoMinion, Stuart geoMinion, teamMerlin's 7 Deadly Ducks Tag (Lust), teamMerlin's Football, Mary Hyde's Treasure, Hidden Creatures Geocoin TB, Merlin's Steed

Due to some changes in Oatley Park, I have altered the information and task needed to obtain stage 2 coordinates. The cache is still in place.
We found the Tassie slab, calculated the correct number, found the sign with the calculated number, saw the double arrows, went perpendicular towards the slab rock, and then... didn’t find it.
No luck for me today. Never found the map of Tassie. But I was out for a good walk in Oatley Park so thought I’d keep my eyes out for the hint feature. Also no luck. But I will return another day and try again. Cheers... Gaztek
I was very lucky to get this cache! It seems that what ever markings used to be on the road are long gone so I decided to keep my eyes peeled for a set of stairs and the slab mentioned in the description. I went about finding other caches around the park all while keeping my eyes peeled for the stairs. As I was nearing the end of my journey around the park I spotted the features I was looking for! And a little while later I had the cache in my hand! Thank you for the cache!
OCW with breeze through and walk there. Like others before us we have no idea what the numbers and arrows are but found enough info from the description and other logs to get us to the cache.

Found with kate_h and walk there. No idea about the numbers etc like everyone else but spotted the steps on the way out and followed the steps up and to the cache.
Found it with Anominous Sign on 19/07/2020.
The numbers and arrows are really confusing, still not sure what it suppose to be. Luckily after reading some old logs, Anominous Sign knew where we need to be. With a bit of luck, we got the cache. TFTC.

We found Tasmania and gathered the required info. However, like others before us, we couldn't find the numbers or arrows.
We'd already walked most of the paths in the park, so on our way out, we walked the last path and came upon the structure mentioned for the 2nd part. A short search later and we had the cache in hand. Thanks for the cache!

This was one of my early GC problems to solve and it has bugged the hell out of me . My GCing is far from consistent,. being only able to dip my toe in every so often. So a huge sense of relief to finally put this one to bed . Its been along time between drinks .Thanks GeoDude. Cheers
My second cache this afternoon in the rain that I have worked on for some time and finally today made a find. I can't remember how long ago I gathered the first piece of information and blindly went around the park for some time. Careful reading of the logs and I thought I had a bit more of an idea where to look. Sure enough this afternoon some careful observation and I found the steps and so on, and after a little search soon found the cache. TFTC!
A beautiful day to be OCW Oldmorty around Oatley This was a challenge and a half. Found WP1 no problem, took a guess at the number of letters and then spent a good hour trying to decipher the other tasks required to find GZ. First we thought it would be close to WP1 but soon read other logs to realise it was easier in the car. Around a few times we went and it wasn't until we were heading back out, we spied 3 little steps. Still not sure what the numbers we didn't find and arrows we didn't really see meant but we were very happy to get the smiley. TFTC!
OCW morty8888 around Oatley today. After finding the map of Tasmania and collecting the information we headed off to the next stage without any idea what we were doing or looking for. After spending a good wandering around looking for numbers, arrows, some stairs, a concrete slab and cicumnavigating the park without success we adjourned for lunch. After lunch we returned for one more trip around the park and fortunately on this occasion we sited the stairs and after a couple of minutes it was CIH. We still have no idea what the arrows and numbers meant but a smiley is a smiley no matter how you get it. TFTC GeodudeAu.
Nice walk with the family and hearing about some history of a park that we’ve been too many times. Evan Raphael got excited!
After finding the map of Tassie, I found all that's left of the miltary presence in Oatley Park, and found the cache also . TFTC GeodudeAu
Found the plaque, found the number, found the steps, no arrow, no concrete block. Mmmm, maybe wrong spot, have to check this out another day.
We walked in circles a bit trying to find the required number (still scratching my head over where that was) but eventually found something that matched the description and were glad to find the cache. TFTC
We used brut force to locate this cache, and in hindsight the clues became much clearer!
TFTC GeodudeAu, interesting history of the area.

Another exciting Oatley Park cache that I've finally been able to bag. Yesterday I found the map but had no clue on getting to WP2. I went for a leisurely walk and then the steps and concrete block were in front of me. Less than a minute later...cache in hand! Only one more cache to find in Oatley Park, and there sure have been some tough ones. TFTC
Find #31
Found this while out with geotoddler #1. I gathered the required information from the map sometime ago and when I read the number clue for waypoint 2, I knew exactly what this meant after walking, running and driving around this park probably close to a hundred or more times. Today I had some time to explore GZ and try to locate the cache. It didn't take too long after I stepped back and had a considered look around. The cache is in great condition even after the recent rain. I signed the log and dropped an appropriately military themed swag item.
I can't believe I have passed this location so many times without knowing the history and significance of it. Thank you for the history lesson geodudeau. A great multi, my first, liked the way GZ was not simply a GPS location but required some thinking and exploring. A fav point from me! TFTC!

Found the unusual map in no time and noted the required info.
Thinking that I had understood the next step correctly proceeded to where I'd seen the number printed but then couldn't make sense of the arrows. I didn't feel that a bush bash was in order so decided to have a look for other nearby caches first whilst I mulled this one over.
After a great walk around some of the lower tracks we were ready for home so thought we'd come back to finished this one another day.
As we were driving geohubby spotted a feature that matched the description and also matched part of the required steps. We pulled over and went to investigate.........unbelievably we found the cache in the second place we looked.
Not sure how the multi should have come together but we're claiming the find.
Great history.

So, milestone time again. I'd decided on a puzzle masquerading as a multi having worked with a recent finder at an event to finally get a solution.
Then I was going to tackle the other multi in Oatley Park (forgot the Earthcache was there though). Interestingly I'd say both the 1½ ratings on those multis are underrated.
Only grabbed two others as the second multi took me so long, even with a PAF.
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###
With my meal of oats quickly transposed, I turned to this one.
Quickly found the map and had two possible answers. Expected it was one and then made an assumption (correct as I learned) re what I was looking for.
But I couldn't find it.
Did a few loops and checked a few likely areas, but nothing - although I did meet the wife of one of the staff here who needed to ring him. So over an hour later I resorted to a PAF, who confirmed I was on the right track - in more ways than one.
Just after finally finding the number and some arrows my PAF got back with confirmation on those spots, but thoughtfully left me to keep looking for the container.
And having made the right call I'd already gone past it, missing one of the waypoint items. More going around in circles ensued.
Then I went off in completely the wrong direction, and found my missing waypoint item in the middle of the bush - but not the right one. A long fruitless search in spots indicated by the waypoint info made me rethink it again.
So went back to my first spot and then I saw what I'd missed. And then had a quick find - 2 hours after starting.
No way is this a 1½ difficulty cache as there are so many places you can go the wrong way, get sidetracked. Mind you I also made this so much harder than it should have been.

Finally got around to grabbing this one after looking at it online for awhile now. As it was almost the one year anniversary, I decided today was the day to try it out. This was the final one around the Oatley Park area left for me to find. All I need to do is go for a bit of a scramble and I can tick off the entire Oatley suburb.
Located the Tassie map, though coords seemed off by about 10m, but found anyway. Got the number, added the hundred and headed off to look at the road. Spotted that quickly and then headed to the eventful cache location. As it was said to be damp, I brought along a replacement log book and so was able to sign it easily. Dried the inside of the container then put back in place for whoever is next.
Thanks mikev1 for providing a little military history from Oatley Park. I never would have know otherwise about the heritage this parkholds. A good multi to try. Coincidentally, as I walked away I could hear gunfire in the distance coming from Holsworthy army range across the river! TFTC and Happy Anniversary to Oatley Park Military.#624.

Hrrrm. This was the second cache we attempted today. I think I found a spot that matched the instructions but the numbers didn't quite match. I think I did something wrong. As we had a lot of caches to do today I will leave this one to try again another day. Thanks all the same!
TFTC,
luck was on our side as we found the start in quick time. We missed the next point to look for and went around again. The cache itself was hard to locate.
Visited trackables.

While this is a bit of a challenging dextiprion to understand, I did do my best to misinterpret it!?!
I had no trouble at WP1 although the coordinates where a little out.
But eventually I spotted something almost how interpreted clue 2 and stopped and made the find.

Long time since I found it but I decided to go for a hunt with Geomum on Christmas day to get some exercise from the big feast that day. We looked for a while and couldn't find that 'arrow' and looked at the logs and the description more carefully which lead us straight to it

I have an interest in military history in Oatley Park so this multi caught my eye. Took a while to locate WP 1. Worked the numbers and off I went. Hmm does he mean the long way around or the short way around? Took the short way. The information for WP 2 didn't gel i.e. I couldn't find the clues. However with my previous knowledge I went to where I thought and soon had the CIH. Dropped a trackable and visited one. Signed the log and rehid. TFTC Mikev26.
Had difficulty finding the map to start with. Understood the instructions to follow but then the arrow led us astray. The info in the additional way point was what helped in the end. A great multi. TFTC.
22/08/15. 8:07 AM. Cache #2873. Streak day #426.
2nd of 6 this morning.
I had just redeemed a previous DNF nemesis at "On A Roll" and hoped that I could do the same with this one. In my last visit, I had at least been looking for the correct number, but I hadn't been looking in the right area.
I've really made this reasonably simple multi too hard for myself with mistakes like that. The reason I was looking in the wrong places was because of certain assumptions I made about where it was. I used my Geosphere app, which overlays 161m circles around all the caches to show where all the other caches are (and therefore where new ones can't be). But it also puts the same circles around the two multis in Oatley Park and of course their GZs could be anywhere. So, taking that into account...ooohh, I could look over there.
Just to be sure, I still walked the full road, but in the lower half there were no signs of any numbers in the series. I kept going and then - finally - the number I was looking for! Then the arrow, then stairs, then a likely place to start looking and....there it was! Finally!!! I signed the log, replaced it and then drove around to the southern park entrance to get the Gray Havens caches. TFTC (yay).

I had spent quite a few caching days in this parkland. It was time to get another find out of it.
I spent a while searching around wp1 before noticing the feature. The tricky part was interpreting the instructions for finding wp2. I had 2 possible numbers to look for, but i could find neither.
Eventually I spotted something that it may be, traveled down the road a bit and started looking around. Before i got a closer look, a car pulled up, and a woman asked if i was looking for something. Just my luck that it was trixtig, the first to find, who told me that i was WAY off.
With a vague hint of what to look for I was off to another area, where after a few minutes I noticed what to look for. A short walk layer and I had a cache in hand.
Thanks for the cache.

After a second DNF at "On A Roll", I really wanted to make amends with this one. I had learned since my last visit in July that adding 'hundred' meant putting two zeroes on the end as opposed to "+100" which most people would interpret it as (grrrrr). So now I had a different number to look for.
I did one pass of the park by car and no sight of this number. I parked the car near the map of Tassie and walked the park. As I got to the southern tip, I DNF'd "Take A Peak" and found "Tree Bridge". I used a map layer on Geosphere that shows 161m circles around all of the caches in the park - this let me eliminate a large part of the park to get a rough idea where this might be.
Turning on to the walker/cyclist only road (barricaded to cars), I finally saw the number I was looking for! A bit further down, an arrow! And then...what? Nothing in the description or hint to help me any further than this like a direction or a distance. As far as the "ebpxf" mentioned in the hint...there are millions on this track. Argh!
Two hours later I'm at home updating all my logs and I see N22 found it today? Come on!

As a drop in Cacher who is on his first visit to this wonderful park. Parked 25 to GZ, but finding the right Boulder took a few minutes.
Counted the first and second names, the third ( I used the old police trick of colouring on paper placed on top), what I found was not a name but seems an area of Tasmania.
The fourth line is so vague, it seems to be initialed and hard to pick the name.
I counted all the letters under the words erected by, added the hundred, then drove around twice without spotting anything.
Went off looking for the steamroller hide, between muggles was tough, they must have thought I was a crazed traction engine enthusiast. Gave up on that one and continued my walk to find my numbers.
2 hours past between both hides and no finds , so was more productive on finding all the other perimeter park hides.
Unsure how the others were successful on the multi, whether they requested help or flukes it, anyway, TFTH

It's really great to hear some of the history of one of my favourite places. TFTC!
Getting to know this park rather well through caching! Picked up "On a Roll" along the way.

A frustrating DNF among 4 finds this afternoon. I parked near the entry to Oatley Park and walked around to the posted coordinates, aka Stage 1. My search for Tassie took about 10 minutes as the tree cover mucked with my signal and I was walking in circles. When I eventually spotted it, I think I was about 10m out. I looked at the inscription on Tassie. After the words "ERECTED BY" was one clear word and then a bunch of names that had eroded over time and were impossible to read. So I hoped that the one word I could read was the only intended number. I added this to 100 and then sought that number all over the park.
Not having the local knowledge that the FTF had, I had no ideas. This multi would be a lot better if there was a sum or some information that at least leads finders towards this 100+x number. After more than an hour I returned to the car, empty handed. Off to do the Ovals of St George series next, starting with Bradman. I guess I'll come back here one day, but I'd like to see a bit more information first. Yet another one for the watchlist.

FTF - and it is my birthday
From reading the info provided this one is probably harder than the designated 1.5 stars but it all makes sense when you find GZ.
Came down to The Steamroller park to play and 'relax' in the sun (three kids 5 and under - like that is ever going to happen!). It ended up the kids decided to go and explore the area around stage 1 and I was able to collect the required info - although it took a bit of guess work to figure out how many of the letters to include in my calculation.
After that I was little confused - I have a number but where do I find this number? Turns out there are numbers all around this joint! As a born and bred oatley girl I clued on to the meaning fairly quickly.
Started to go for a walk but the kids accompanying us decided they had had enough time out so we all headed back to our picnic and packed up. I decided to drive around and find the 'number' but turns out it isn pretty hard to see whilst driving. Surely it is around here somewhere, around we go a second time! Ah ha! I get it now. Around for a third time we go.
Found what I was looking for now what? Didn't spy the arrow but took a wild guess. Found a drain and rocks - maybe that is part of the remains. Hmmm no cement slab or stairs... Turn around and what's that I can spy in the distance! Stairs. Damn two sleeping kids in the car. Found a way to be a responsible parent and keep them happy. Never noticed this slab before. From there using the hint I was able to locate GZ. Geo 5 yr old and I spotted it at the same time. And a nice blank log awaiting us. Was a little nervous as another car lurking nearby when we arrived and a woman had stopped on the road nearby 'for a breather' on her walk around the park. But turns out both were merely coincidence.
