Cleaning up. Time to open the map to some new caches ??

24-Apr-22
Discovered this Earth Cache whilst exploring the area as we are here for a wedding. Was a beautiful spot to stop and take in the coast line. My back prevented me from going down the stairs and out to see the Eagles Nest up close, but the platform was still a great view.

What a glorious day it was here today, in a favourite part of the world. We visited here collecting a lab cache and I thought it was probably time I made an attempt at the earthcache. It was really hard to concentrate on questions when the weather was really turning on a show…did I mention the glorious sunshine? The view were blissful!
Thanks so much Na’wal.

What a wonderful spot to relax amongst the sea, sand, surf, rocks and tourists.
I took some photos of a group of visitors, with their cameras.

#4535 Answers provided. We landed at gz on a quiet weekday. We also timed our visit at low tide so we could visit the neaby caves but this also meant we could go down the steps and examine the Eagles Nest at close range. What a cool geological feature that is worth viewing from different angles if you get the chance to explore. TFTEC Na'wal, fave from us.

We are staying at Grantville because we are in the area for yesterday's River Garden Working Bee in Bass. Mrs Dromaniax said to keep Sunday free as she had a surprise planned. She made out it was a day of geocaching with the geodogs. Well, it was that and more, she had organised that we meet up for lunch in Mirboo North with some dear friends that we have not seen for a while due to a whole variety of circumstances, including COVID. On the way home, we found some more caches. Earthcaches are our favourites and we have found several by Na'wal and this is another great cache. The weather today was absolutely superb and this was the final cache for the day ad topped it off like a charm. Thank you Na'wal for the time and effort to create this cache.

Visiting for the weekend and couldn't resist a quick stop on the way back to the Cape for lunch. There are some fantastic views up here.
Thanks Na'wal for highlighting the Eagle.

Stopped in on the way home via the coast road. Beautiful spot and a change to get an earrhcache which I can actually find after a run of DNFs on regular caches.

The old saying "Time & Tide wait for no man" was true for us today. 2021 - already with nearly a month gone, we enjoyed a day out in South Gippsland.

Info forwarded to CO.

Thanks Na'wal We really enjoy completing earthcaches and learning more about the geology of places we visit.

houston, tranquility base here. the eagle has landed.

we’ve been down to eagles nest a few times now while holidaying at inverloch
but the times and tides have never been in our favour to visit the nest close-up so we’d never braved this earthcache
but today the water was out and we doddled down to the nest to collect some info and marvel at some geology
thanks for the incentive to return, had a grand old time rockhopping and climbing and exploring rockpools and pretending to be bitten by octopi

that's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.

I stumbled upon this cache by accident and it was a happy find!

I was following the Dinosaur Lab and as it was dusk, thought I would check out the beautiful view! With a bit of drizzle and cold winds, I went back to the car and then realised there was a cache here. back out the car to walk down the path for a closer look!
My log is a bit delayed, as it was getting dark and I quickly collected the answers before departing to my campsite for the night.

Thanks for the cache and pointing out the significance of the view!

An early start to the day heading for an Earth cache for Earth cache day before meeting up with Ski pair to do some caching, A great part of the coast to visit as the sun rose. Thanks for showing me this location.

Definitely a bonus for my trip over the "Divide" to the Prom and then via and the Bass coast to next destination. After all these years I see this dramatic coast line on a wild windy day and learn about dinosaurs and rocks - all new and great fun too. Thanks to Na’wal for the incentive and opportunity to explore with a ‘geo focus’. A very spectacular location.

On a mini getaway straight out of stage 3 restrictions, we were able to spend some time along this amazing coastline. With the tides working in our favour we enjoyed a fascinating walk out on the rocks to the base of the nest. We have been here many times with our kids when they were younger, exploring rock pools, but we felt like kids today. The weather, the coast and appreciation of being able to be out exploring again was just wonderful.
Thanks for the Earthcache Na'wal

A day out caching with ahomburg, where our main aim was to head to an event in Bass. We picked up whatever we both had not found, and whatever else took our fancy. Thanks for placing the cache Na'wal. After following pprass to a “nearby” read we decided to head to these earth caches after. It took us some time to find the info on the signs as many others were trying to read them too. Eventually we found it, then headed off to the next waypoint. Hopefully the co is okay with our answers. Thank you for bringing me to this location!

I was out this way following a temporary cache hunt that I had set up for Lost_and_Found79's birthday. It is a great spot to visit and as we arrived we had the place to ourselves. Having found the nearby trad we collected the information that we needed for this earth cache. Took me a few weeks to send the answers off to the CO but soon after permission was granted to log. It was a very interesting structure that I hadn't been to before until a few weeks earlier so I'm very glad I made the effort to visit here. Thanks for setting up this earth cache Na'wal and for your approval to log.

I do love an Earthcache and I seem to have visited a large number of Na'wals ECs over the past few years. This was another really interesting Earthcache. I was kind of hoping to see whales swimming past here as I had done at the Eagles Head up near Wollongong a few years ago. No such luck today though.

Once the views had been admired the notes about the EC were taken. Certainly an interesting point of interest along the coast. Answers sent to CO. TFTC. Earthcache geocoin visited

There were some good views around and muggles were trying to spot whales with binoculars - no luck this afternoon though. We couldn't get many photos of the 'nest' without our shadows in the shot as the sun was beginning to set in the distance - an awesome spot. Thanks for the earthcache Na'wal, answers sent!

We have been Visiting here for the last 15 years while my parents ran the Cape Paterson caravan park THis will be the last year because the council has given the lease to someone else. I tried to get as many caches as possible but there are just too many maybe one day we will come back to the area. We have been to Eagle rock many times over the years but I never looked at it In depth. That is the great thing about earth Caches. TFTC

Completed this EC while on holidays at Inverloch. Answers Emailed to CO as required. A really gnarly formation! As a side story I went caching along the Anderson's Inlet foreshore after i did this cache on the following Monday night. I reached the boatramp and I was wondering what everyone were pointing there cameras to so late in the day until I veered around the corner and it was a stunning subset with The Eagles Nest visible from here. Thx Na'wal for a great cache.

This certainly is a popular place with an amazingly sculptured rock stack After I’d explored this area I walked along the beach and on my way back could see the top of it adorned with 2 large birds but too far away to identify them. A special place TFTC Na’wal

Visiting the area with a friend who lives in Gippsland & has not visited here before...
It was low tide so we were able to get close to the Nest...
It was lovely rock hopping and checking out all the different rock formations & patterns...
We had to quickly look at the nest to get the answers to the questions as there was a storm brewing...
Thank you for sharing this location with us Na,wal

I loved this site. I was driving along this coast this morning stopping at every little cove. After doing the trad on the clifftops I went for a walk along the beach and rocks to the base of the Eagles Nest.
Haven't heard back from the CO so I will post anyway.

We were down this way from Melbourne to do the nearby earthcache Dinosaur Dreaming at Flat Rocks and to take the kids to a beach (as demanded!) when we realized this earthcache was also nearby - so of course we had to do it.

Another lovely spot we would have missed without this earthcache - so many thanks for bringing us here Na'wal. We now know the difference between mudstone and sandstone! And we have now visited The Eagle.

We had a lovely day down this way, and the kids ended up having a paddle at Cape Paterson, while I slept for 2.5hrs on the beach, and left the supervisory duties to Mrs P - it is a long drive down this way after all.

Thanks for creating this earthcache Na'wal - we have really enjoyed visiting a few earthcaches these holidays.

I believe that Zeus, Hera & kids has sent the answers to the CO for this cache.
It’s been a while since we’ve spent some time at our caravan in Wonthaggi, so it’s great to be back for the first long weekend of the season. Zeus, Hera & kids are camping down at Cape Paterson (keeping a safe distance from the riff-raff of Wonthaggi) so, after visiting their campsite and admiring their new digs, we headed to Eagles Nest for some sightseeing.
Firstly we lured our unsuspecting muggle families down to the lookout, of course to see the Eagles Nest from above.....nothing to do with the caches.
Seriously though, I’d seen photos of Eagles Nest on a friends FB feed and really wanted to explore. Both families had a great time wandering around the rocks finding starfish, deep clear rock pools that looked like natural spa pools and small caves. Of course, it was one of the Rusty kids who ended up with a soggy bum and had to return to the car in his jocks due to chafe from his wet shorts.
Thanks for the extra incentive to come down here and have a wonderful afternoon.

Sent answers to CO
Came here at the suggestion of The Rustys and loved it. All had a ball scrambling over the rocks and discovering small caves on the beach to the right of the Eagles Nest. Was a bit nervous about rockfalls so didn't go too close to base of cliffs.

Amazing piece of rock, great textures and so many colours. It was a very windy afternoon and a bit rainy, but we luckily got back to the car before the rain got heavy.

Been here so many times but never done the earth cahces. Today that had to change. So I headed out to find the answers to the questions. After reading the signes I was off to the rock it self. Everytime its nice to it again. Great spot for a Earthcache Smile Thanks!

Spent a beautiful Easter at Inverloch. We were advised to come home this way to view Eagle nest . What a beautiful spot and well worth the side trip.
Am logging this with CO permission. See if you can see the monkey face on the right side which I can see. Maybe its just my quirky nature but truly is a wonderful spot. Fav point from me for the sheer beauty TFTC

It was interesting to visit the 'Nest' formed after hundreds of years of ocean erosion. Answered the questions and logged with CO approval. Thanks for this experience! Big Grin

TFTC,

Out on the observation trial today and finding a few caches at the locations visited.

What a great location. We took a walk to the rock a favorite given. Now to send answers for us to the CO.

This is a part of our adventure trip that takes us to the National Riley Rally on Philip Island, Bush walking at the Grampians that we missed last trip because of fires, a 50th with a friend on the Murray River and the Red Center Experience GC6825Z before returning home with skibum1 from America via Broken Hill, Lightning Ridge, Killcoy and Armidale.

Visited a group of trackables that will be left at the Alice Springs Event .

Found with Rambolina on a Kayaking Road Trip down the East Coast from Sydney to Wilson's Promentary.

What an incredible place and formation.
It's very important to see these remains from a few wide angles or you'll go away with only part of the story.
The different erosion patterns, nestled together make for an amazing sight. You'll wonder and ponder how such a thing can happen at all.

One of my girlfriends has a holiday house in Inverloch and she invited the kids down to have a swim. I was excited as it meant I had an excuse to stop and do some Earth caches I had my eye on.
This was an area I have visited before but long before I cached so it was nice to come back and visit with an EC to do.
As always a great location I now know more about.
There was a little Blue wren who was quiet friendly hopping around when we were watching the surfers and looking for the traditional cache here.
Will add a photo shortly

We had come here a few years ago and enjoyed exploring the coast around Inverloch. Had to come back this year so we could do the caches as well!
While no eagles were seen, there was an avian perched atop this monument of nature - a shag!

Awaiting confirmation of my answers with baited breath (maybe I'll catch a fish with it )

TFTC Na'wal

Edit: Thanks for the prompt response Na'wal! Didn't catch any fish, but we did find a few shells. Thanks again.

KAKAGA Mark 2: Kate And Kelly's Amazing Geocaching Adventure is happening again because we're free of children, chores and work! Hurrah! A trip down to the coast was organised with the New Years events and rail trail in mind and ended with a count of: one emergency department visit, one headbutted tree, one muggle asking if we were looking for drugs, endless swarms of flies, many scratches, one sunburned shoulder, one milestone 1000th cache, great meals, good company and 66 caches.

This was the second Earthcache of our trip and, like the first, we did this one in reverse. The information was gathered, we commented on a really poor parking effort by some gentlemen sitting in their car and then headed down for the traditional nearby. TFTC Na'wal!

07-Jan-17
This weekend marked the second of the much anticipated KAKAGA trips (Kate and Kelly's Amazing Geocaching Adventures). Mummy Short Legs and I were both very excited to be given the opportunity to spend almost two full days together with nothing but a vehicle, our bikes and our GPSs for company. We were not going to let soaring temperatures or bucketloads of flies stop us, we were going to cache our way around the Inverloch/Wonthaggi area till we dropped (or until the geohusbands begged for our return at least!).

Another Earth Cache today, hooray! Having been at the look out point for the nearby traditional we decided to collect the data in reverse. Thankfully it was a straight forward observation over a stunning vista. Answers have been sent to the Co for confirmation. Thanks Na'wal for another great Earthcache.

Love this spot. Been here so many times, but in recent visits I haven't ventured out close to the famous rock after a chunk of it fell on one of my friends. He survived, but spent a lot of time in hospital. Sharing that here as a reminder that the cliffs here are unstable and large chunks can fall with no warning. Thanks for bringing la mina and me back here again!
