After 8 years this cache has aged and we are archiving it. Found the container with a hole in the lid (and couldn't get the lid off), the log on the ground, a dead bat also on the ground along with discarded needles.... Doesn't seem much point in moving or replacing it. Thanks to the 67 finders!

I found this cache but there was lots of Needles on the ground

Outnabout for some solo caching while camping in town overnight. We’re taking the roundabout route to QOGM 2023 at Longreach. It’s always a great day for caching.
TFTC Cachedin NQ

For anyone making Geo plans, do yourself a favour and visit Australia’s only current Geotour at Ballarat while it lasts: https://www.geocaching.com/play/geotours/ballarat-victoria

And for anyone that can travel to Longreach, Queensland, late September 2023, Google “QOGM” which is the Queensland Outback Geocaching Muster. You’ll have at least 8 or 9 days of pure geocaching fun with around 200 like minded people attending a mix of events and access to over 200 geocaches placed by the QOGM team. It’s not a Mega, it’s better.

Great Northern escape 2022 Day 78. Charters Towers Day 1. After a restless night and an early wake due to some very noisy birds, I headed off for a days caching. I finished the caches along the Gregory Highway and went out to the weir and threw in a few pirate caches as well. Apart from lots of grass and associated seeds, the day went smoothly and I was home in time for a late lunch and some logging.

I started the day with one of the puzzles I solved in Charters towers after my last visit. Nice to get another one done.

Thanks for the cache Cachedin NQ

We decided to start caching a little bit earlier than usual - best decision ever as it started showering later in the morning and then it just rained all afternoon.

Found as part of the Qld Cache mega event weekend in Townsville over Easter 2022. Joined forces with Gunnie69 after flying up from Brisbane to tackle a variety of caches around the Townsville area including three GeoArt series, other puzzles and a few labs! I would like to thank all the cache owners who are making this an enjoyable weekend! Big Grin

Today we trekked out along the Flinders Highway to the historical town of Charters Towers. Enjoyed some of the sights, old buildings, occasional wildlife and of course lunch at a local pub!

A smiley has been added to the cache! Big Grin

Thanks Cachedin NQ for the cache, the hunt and the smiley today! [D*|

Lunchtime was drawing near and Ghostgums and I had a hankering for a good pub meal. That was a challenge today and a very different story than finding this cache. GZ became obvious on approach and unlike trying to find a pub with an open kitchen on Easter Sunday, GZ was very obliging and offered up the container immediately. That was appreciated. Big Grin

Cheers Cachedin NQ.

Day 7 of our trek to the Townsville Mega and back with fitzy_1965 and two of my geo-kids Death_killer & my_name_jeff_1.

The long awaited day we drive into Townsville! We did a bit of caching around Charters Towers before leaving. Definitely some great caching there and some good Adventure Labs worth doing. A simple drive to Townsville: we are all happy to finally be here. The kids were very glad to have a quick dip in the pool at the Motel before some rest before all things Mega kicking off tomorrow.

All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned.

27,571. Found with minniek during our Grand Townsville Trek up to CacheQLD's Townsville Mega Event over Easter.

Day 7 of our Townsville Trek, and we cached our way around Charters Towers again during the morning, before doing the short journey to Townsville for the main event (literally !). A couple of neat Adventure Labs were completed, as well as their bonus caches (one a real doozy) plus some other must do caches along the way. This one was pre solved. Quick find once at GZ. Signed the log, replaced the cache, then continued along to the next cache on our list.

Thanks Cachedin NQ !!

#13927 - 1:02:00 PM; Day eight of the Townsville Mega adventure with Sol de lune. Made it through to Townsville last night and headed out to Charters Towers to try our hand at the variety of cache types in the area today. Managed 30 finds for the day on the way to and from and around the town in Charters Towers, with one DNF. Cache types we found included Adventure Labs, Letterbox Hybrids, Trads, Multis, Unknown (Puzzle), Wherigos, a virtual and an earthcache. All caches were found in good order unless noted in the log and where required each has been signed L.L10n & Sdl or vice versa. Apologies for the largely generic logs [:o)] TFTC Cachedin NQ Smile

Day 8 of the road trip to Townsville to with LuckyL10n and today it was a drive from Townsville out to Charters Towers.

A quieter day than others on the trip, but that was due to the different types. Puzzles, WIG's and Multi's were the order of the day. A couple of trads of course as went right past them....and we couldn't leave them could we?

Left CT around 2.30 and head for Cardwell to help fill in a few counties up towards Carins and the Tablelands. All up, another great day.

Thanks to all the CO's for the caches....they all help to make the trip a good time.

Like all geocachers, I’m taking the scenic, slow route to Townsville. Along the way we detoured for, amongst many others, this geocache.

Having solved a lot of puzzles prior to the trip, we tried to find as many as we could.

Thanks for placing the cache Cachedin NQ, without hiders the game wouldn’t exist.

We were a bit worried about this one as there had been no logs shown for 2021, but Mr Ski walked up and put his hand straight on it. Go to get a smilie after solving the puzzle.

Our first full day in Charters Towers, and we decided to head out reasonably early as it is forecast to be quite warm. We targeted a variety of cache types including Adventure Lab, puzzle, traditional multi and Wherigo. All successful with no DNFs. Even managed to pick up one we think we looked for but could not find last time we were here.
What a lovely old town Charters Towers is. We particularly like seeing the range of old buildings on offer.
Thank you to the local COs for developing and maintaining the caches for us to find. It is much appreciated.

Day 18 of my trip north from Adelaide.

Today was spent caching and sightseeing around Charters Towers. I had picked out the multis, puzzles, wherigos and traditional caches that I was keen to do and picked up a few other opportunistic traditional caches along the way. I also completed the new Lab caches in town.

All in all it was as a very pleasant day, with a cool morning and a relatively mild day, which made things much easier and more enjoyable. In all I managed to find 7 puzzles, 9 multis, 3 wherigos, 13 traditionals and an earthcache for a total of 33 caches for the day (plus the Lab caches). I only had one DNF.

I spent quite a bit of time over the past few months solving puzzles, including this one, in preparation for my trip. The cache was found without any problems.

Thanks Cachedin NQ for the puzzle and the cache.

I am not the best at puzzles but was able to capture my nerdy side (hahaha I am kidding ... I am a geocacher) and find this cache. Solved it last time I was in town but didn’t get the chance to grab it. Cache was on the ground ... picked it up and placed it in what I think was it’s hiding spot. TFTC.

What a mixed day. Had a lovely weekend, picked up a few caches along the way, and a DNF then found out a lovely lass i’ve known for a while passed away today. Have shed a few tears once or twice since finding out. RIP Susie. Forever young.
Picked up this cache before driving off, leaving the sun setting behind me. Thanks for the cache Cachedin NQ. Clever work Geoboy.

Can't catch 'em all before we head out of town, but at least we can catch another one! Co-ords for GZ were easily worked out a little while ago and we decided to pick this last cache up as we were on our way with the caravan on behind.
Thankfully it was a good place to park and just a short walk away from the hiding place. All was in good order with the cache and we were soon signed on and on the road again.
Thanks go to Cachedin NQ for a fun puzzle.

Deciphering was easy as we had caught most of those Pokemon. Just as well we started playing recently. Does having a Senior's card make it too late to start. Lol Wasn't sure we were at the right spot and didn't want to traipse all over when a local came driving down the track so in we went to a likely spot and shortly after the cache was in hand. TFTC

Staying a few nights in Charters Towers this morning we visited the library to learn about the archives section to hopefully trace some family history here from the Pioneer days.

Once it was determined that we had to return tomorrow then it was out and about exploring town using your Geocache as part of our tour.

Solved this one before our arrival but with no geochecker we were still nervous we had made mistakes. However at GZ cache was quickly in hand.

TFTC. We were enroute to Hughenden today but first we needed to stop in Charters Towers to get gas .
We had solved two puzzle caches while we housesat in Mareeba and today seemed a good time to stop and attempt the find. This first one was a quick find and a pleasant walk as we parked on the far side of the park.

We're still meandering across northern Australia after attending the Red Centre Experience over Easter. Now in Charters Towers, I had the day to myself, so I planned a route that would see me find a mixture of traditional, multi and mystery caches.
It turned out to be a huge day as I visited over 30 sites but only about 14 of them were caches, the rest were gathering information for the multis.
I have never had anything to do with Pokemon, but really enjoyed the challenge of solving this cache.
Once I arrived at GZ it was a quick find and after signing duties were completed the cache was returned to its hidey hole.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for us to find.

On a wander around Charters this morning,
a question mark appeared on the GPS screen !!
Oops !! I should have looked for any puzzle caches back at camp last night !! [:o]

I read the name of the cache ...
... oh I'm not interested in looking at that website ever again Razz
But the cache notes gave me some clues where to look Smile

In Charters Towers for the day, this is the second time we visited as cachers, but there were still a few for us to find. We drove in from Macrossan Bridge and set out gps to go! I poked around with this puzzl last night and came up with the coordinates. We found at 10.30am. The tree had taken ownership of the cache, so we did have a bit of trouble extracting it. Signed and returned the wet log.
