A short trip up to Maldon and Heathcote this weekend grabbing a few caches on the way.Rode the rail trails this morning, firstly towards Castlemaine, and then Maldon going north west. All the cache were there, but most need some TLC. Mostly wet logs and damaged containers. It must have been a very large trestle bridge looking at the lay of the land. Thanks, Robmc.
An unusual situation for us instead of being in lovely warm Queensland we are hiding around cold old Victoria. Medical reasons and caravan repairs have us staying here and we will be looking forward to finding as many caches as possible while we are here. SL TFTC
Out and about in Maldon again and it was time to finish this series. Found this without issue, however the log was soaked. Could replaced this one, so cleaned the cache out and left a new log in a double plastic bag. Moved the cache just slightly so it wouldn't fill with water again.
Thanks for another one Team Ninja....

Back today to try to finish this lovely & interesting series. Loving the chance to drive offroad & just cruise along. Sadly the container was full of water & the log saturated & slimy. I drained it as best I could. Many thanks
Found but the recent heavy rain has filled the cache with water and the log was unable to be signed as soaking wet
Another week of the school holidays means more fun, adventure and geocaching of course with both kids while camping at Maldon in the caravan. Easy drive by on a quiet dirt road, found by JK at 12:27pm. Time to change drivers.
Beautiful country and awesome when it's green. An interesting historic journey. Thank you.
We headed out for a day trip and decided this area was a great quiet location.
The winter day we got was just amazing, sunny and a delight to be geocaching in.
Thank you for placing this geocache for us to find.

Caching in the area we were able to finish off the SL series after running out of time on our last visit here. Starting backwards we worked our way down to Floodway, enjoying the remnants of the old abandoned railway that each cache had to show us.
How awesome would it be if the trestle bridges still remained?
Thanks AussieTrainDriver for highlighting this historic railway line.

The day dawned a bit cooler today in Saint Arnaud.
We started out doing some of the StArs geo art, but then headed of to Bendigo for a baby sitting day tomorrow.
On the way we deviated to get Forte's Ground, and then some very enjoyable caches nearer Bendigo,

A much cooler morning in Maldon after much rain overnight. We thought to find some more of the SL series before we head home to Wangaratta. The Gap showed up very clearly in the crisp morning landscape SL at 9.20am #6186 TFTC AussieTrainDriver
Maryborough to Maldon staying at Butts Reserve
After setting up camp we decided to begin the SL trail starting from the end.
We glimpsed many sections of the abandoned railway line. Enjoyed our day travelling the country side.

A great series highlighting this old train line. A quick find at GZ with Motndarg today. Thanks Team_Ninja.
A quick grab and we were on our way on this interesting run of caches thanks Team_ninja.
After finding this cache and admiring the embankment and imagining the tresses bridge we turned towards the car and were stunned to see this dead turtle in the leaf litter next to the cache!
Who would have dreamt about it!

On a well earned break in Castlemaine and I’m spending the time just touring the whole area, enjoying the sites and picking up caches as I go.
Good to see that you can make out where the line went as we are following it along.
Thanks Team_Ninja TFTC TFTS.

TFTC and for sharing the history of this particular Rail Line. Er had completed some of the SL series caches from the Maldon end a week or so ago. Being a nice day for a drive we decide to complete the series , starting form this end . We could then circle from Maryborough to Maldon and then back to Maryborough without having to do any back tracking.=For the most part we found the caches without too much drama. One of the multis gave us a bit of trouble, more of that in the log for that particular cache. A great series and worthy of a favorite from us.
Either the caches that I’m finding today are relatively easy or I’m learning what to look for. Another fun find. TFTC
On a day out with Wozzle68 and MazzyMay with the idea of getting the 100 for the month. At the start of the day we thought we would be fighting the rain but as the day went on it turned out to be OK . TFTC.
Maldon was the target for today's caching foray in the company of Wozzle68 and Dippa46, we had a wonderful day investigating the area, getting a lot of exercise, more than necessary in some cases, but fun nevertheless. Really enjoying the series. TFTC
Caching the Maldon area today with MazzyMay and Dippa46 trying to chalk up a few virtual souvenirs. The rain threatened to spoil our day early on but soon cleared up and turned into a great day for it. Thanks for the hide AussieTrainDriver!
Nice easy find here, again the scouts had it before I got to the GZ. Thanks for the fun
At last have found one. Cool morning, feet wet from looking with no luck for previous ones. Hopefully we are now on a roll. TFTC

A trip to Maldon, in our geoute, to attend the Annual Swap Meet, have a look in the shops and do some caching. Even attended the monthly market that was on today. FUF009 came with us for the day.
We done the three caches in town we had to do, then done the trail. Now we only have two more to do on our way home to complete the caches in Maldon. This was one of them.
Our last find for the day which was a quick find on the edge of the road. Another great day out and about doing various things which we all enjoy.

Over Lannecoorie way today and I decided on a few caches on the way home. What a great little series. Beautiful country roads, colour birds everywhere and a bright blue sky. Many thanks for the caches
The cache description filled in the gap nicely
I tried to imagine the sight of a J-Class steaming over the bridge in the distance

I thought I'd make the most of my one day off and this beautiful weather to go out and find the SL Series, starting from The End and working my way back. I loved the history and the amount of work gone into creating this series.

Suscoe headed north very early this morning for a day of caching around the Maldon and Newstead area.
We left home in steady drizzle but by the time we crossed the divide the sky eased up a bit. For the remainder of the day we had sunny skies with the occasional cloud and a generous southerly wind blowing which kept temperatures in the high teens and low twenties.
The country is pretty dry around here but we were pleased to report that grass seeds are not as bad here compared to the North East and even Castlemaine.
We enjoyed this Maldon - Shelbourne railway trail and had a terrific morning making our way from The End to The Beginning.
A big thank you to Team Ninja for a very well researched set of Cache notes and for sharing this knowledge with us.
Another quick find in beaut location.
So much hay has been cut around the farms.

Southern Cross Caching
A 4 day trip from Adelaide to Everton, Beechworth and surrounds.
8 of South Australia's finest caching teams came across the border Freddo, Team Astro, The White Dog Gang, Four Fun, Unicycle, Southern Cross Caching, Shonkloic, and Team Waldron hit the bike trails and country back roads.
It wasn't nice the the mozzies were sent to defend the ceches against us but we persisted.
On the way home we visited Bendigo, St Arnaud and many towns in between.
Many thanks to all the cache owners who put out caches for us to find.
A great time was had and we left enough to make another trip worthwhile.

We CAME. We CACHED. We SAW STUFF. Eight South Australian caching teams on the prowl in Lake Victoria. We were attacked by vampire mosquitoes. We were attacked by rogue magpies. We were attacked by brown snakes. We were attacked by running kangaroos. We were attacked by publicans and cooks. In the end we got the message and went home, but not before finding lots of hidden cachey things using billions of dollars of satellites and cheap hand-held devices.
Found on an awesome trip with the SAW STUFF boys (Shonky, Astro[me], Waldron, Southern Cross, Whitedog, Unicycle, Freddo & Four-Fun). The trip had it all including this awesome cache. There were pots and schooners (no pints) , mazzive mozzies the size of small elephants we hitched rides on , realistic lizards, real live [xx(] kangaroos that got too close and uphills. Then there were bikes and pumps. There was sweat and dust but no tears. My thanks to the group and the coordination that enabled an amazing fun filled few days that will go down in caching-lore. [^]
Thanks to Team_Ninja and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet!
One of many fun finds on along the way on the "SAW STUFF" road trip to central Victoria with Shonki, Astro, Waldron, Southern cross, Twdg, Uni & Freddo [^]

Bendigo Cup Day and the Sisterhood of the Cargo Pants were off on a day out. We had lots of fun except for the damn mosquitoes everywhere.
Because we all live in Bendigo we started from The End and worked our way towards Maldon. This one was a bit damp as well but hopefully the warmer weather will help.

Find #1084 for me. Another quick find in this series. Thanks for the cache Team_Ninja!
It would be awesome if the trestle bridges were still standing. But, alas, we will have to use our imaginations. The Moose was intrigued by the tiny cottage nearby. Thanks for the hide.
Found at 1600 with JulieNichilson8. Saw a massive ant with massive nippers. Such a beautiful spot and views TNLN TFTC!
Working backwards towards Maldon rather than from it, I ended up doing the whole SL series, rather than my initial plan of 5 or 6. Found, signed and returned to its hiding spot. Thanks to Team Ninja for a great series, full of history, lots of quiet roads, and great positioning of hides, where the car could be safely parked off the roads.
Find # 3183 @ 1300 H
I Decided to head off to Maldon to finish off the SL trail and to grab a couple that are off the trail.
Hmmm think this was at least the 2nd time I have been down this road. and I can remember last time I took notice of this gap (I was not the driver last time so I could sight see).
but still it is quite a sight to see the old rail carving its way over the paddocks
