#13863 Three days on the road from Sydney to Mudgee, with the main objective of finding and logging the TRLT-North. It was an enjoyable drive, across dirt roads and some beautiful scenery. Day 1 we camped overnight at Hill End and day 2 we pitched out tent in Mudgee. The caches were easily found so the focus was fully on the journey through our Mid Western region of NSW.TFTC to all cache owners for maintaining this great series.

Stayed nearby overnight and grabbing anything along the way. Most hides where found after a short search. Loved the different containers and hides. Some great views to be had along the series. Thanks for placing the cache and doing the maintenance needed, so we can find this cache.

Day 2 of our Mudgee to Orange weekend, we're taking the back roads (those less traveled!) to Bathurst. The car GPS spent all day in vain trying to convince us to turn here and there, but we took the longest way possible I'm sure.... Another day of great conditions, maybe a little too hot, and we made 50 GC finds, with a pair of GA as a bonus.
All quite wet and mucky, needs replacing sorry.... TFTC

With COVID19 locking everyone down for so long, a MUCH overdue geocaching mission was welcomed. FurfacesLL #1 and myself decided to head towards Bathurst and attack some of the TRLT caches and see how far we can go. Spoke to a few of the CO's prior to heading up to see if we could assist with any maintenance that was required, so we went prepared with some camo containers and some fresh log books. We had a wonderful weekend stretching the legs and enjoying the country side.

Thanks for the hide Team Webguy Big Grin And thanks to the FFLL ladies for another fun weekend out and about the TRLT trails and others Big Grin

Day 2
With the COVID19 restrictions lifting, we decided to head to the Bathurst area this long weekend on a Geomission with Rapidlywild. Our intention was to attack the TRLT trail and others around the area.
We had a great four days, only a few DNF’s but mostly smiley's, and have left plenty for another adventure. Lovely area to cache in and we look forward to coming back for some more fun and laughs.

Thanks for the hide Team Webguy and thanks Rapidlywild for another great weekend away.

Apologies for the generic log, thank you to all the cache owners for their efforts.

From June 1, travel restrictions are being eased in NSW. Cache on!

31-Mar-20
In light of the current travel restrictions and the requests by regional councils to stay away etc, I am disabling all my caches until the COVID-19 situation has passed and things return back to normal. Please respect this and do not go looking for these caches.

17-Mar-20
Day 3 in Mudgee and our last. Today was for picking up the middle sectioon of the TRLT series before moving on to Bathurst. A more enjoyable day as the wind had eased and this section of the road has been graded. A long day as we had to get to Sofala as this will be the end point from Bathurst.

This was to be the last long geocaching trail for us to undertake during our current travels around Australia, and so mid afternoon yesterday we had started at the top of the trail and kept going until just after sunset. This morning we returned to where we had pulled out of the trail the day before. Yesterday had been cold, windy and wet, but today the sun was out again and it remained dry throughout the day albeit with a very chilly wind. This one was a nice quick find once at Ground Zero. We signed the log book and then replaced as found before doing some bird watching at the dam. Thanks so much for the cache and greetings from Zimbabwe

Would like to thank all cache owners, for making and maintaining the caches.

OCW frazerdaze and marj01. House sitting at White Rock for a week has provided an opportunity to do some geocaching runs around Bathurst - mainly TRLT series indispersed with a number of trads and puzzle caches. During the day we saw lovely scenery, lots of sheep and cattle, a few foxes and one deer in the forestry area. We even encountered fire persons doing a burn off which included two of the caches we were chasing. Please excuse the generic logs and thanks to all the CO's for placing the caches and adding to our enjoyment. For expediency all logs were signed OMF.

We don't usually do many of the TRLT caches as they are not very interesting or challenging but when you need a lot of caches in a short time and live in the country.... Quick find - not sure what the parade of bikers thought of 8 people at the side of the road - could have been ladies to the left and gents to the right Smile The country looks better around here than nearer Bathurst. Easy find. TFTC

1/10/17. 12:20 PM. Cache #5346.
10th of 71 finds today.

Day 2 of the long weekend for which I have come up to plunder caches in the Mid West Regional council. Now on to the main leg of the day, The Road Less Travelled; I followed the trail up though Pyramul, Carcalgong, Windeyer, Grattai, Collingwood, Erudgere and Piambong - 62 caches in 6 hours including a handful of non-TRLT caches. TFTC to all the COs involved.

Sorry it's mostly going to be a copy/paste affair, but there will be the occasional extra commentary where anything of note happened...

First cache for the afternoon (the other 9 were in the morning on my way south from Gulgong). After "Won't you be my February 14th??????" at the Valentine Gold Mine about 15km to the west from here, I paused the caching for about an hour. Went into Hill End for a coffee and to grab some lunch for later, passed through Sallys Flat and then up to this one to kick off proceedings.

Found as part of a weekend away with Hoojar. We headed up towards Gulgong the first night and camped near the start/ end of TRLT (@ -5 degrees Surprised). The next day we made it through some nice historic places and great rolling countryside to finish up at Sunny Corner after a feed in Bathurst. The next day a few more finds before we headed home. Plenty of roadkill spotted, not many cars and not too much trouble at each cache. Thanks to all those cache hiders Big Grin.

29-Jul-17
The opportunity finally arose that Steeba and I both had a free weekend to go caching. We quickly settled upon the northern half of The Road Less Traveled series. We drove to Gulgong via Mudgee after work on Friday, camping just before midnight at the suggested TSR nearby.

Saturday we made our way via the caching trail, and the odd additional cache, to Bathurst for dinner, then back onto the trail to Sunny Corner where we again camped for the evening.

Sunday we turned our heads for home, via a few additional cache stops in Portland and Wallerawang.

A fantastic weekend away, with excellent country to be seen and company to be had. We enjoyed the caches that we found.

Thank you to all of the cache owners, and sorry for the boiler-plate logs!

Cheers

14124. Found during a run through the Bathurst to Mudgee region this long weekend.

Having completed the southern part of TRLT series last month I had the northern part of the series on my radar for this long weekend - plus as many extras as there are along the way. Leaving home this morning I was caching before lunch on the outskirts of Bathurst heading north. All but two of today's caches were found and all were nicely hidden with good sized containers. This was the next find for the day. Quick find at GZ. Log signed, cache replaced, and I headed off to the next one.

Thanks to all the COs for their caches - it was a great run up through this area.

Road trip North to tackle The Road Less Travelled Series with JordsAU! I’ve wanted to try this trail for a while but hadn’t found anyone to try it with. I ran it by Jords a few weeks back & after checking the roster for the week, the stars aligned and we started organising it. He was aiming for “200 caches in a day”, so we planned the trail as best we could!

Monday – we drove up to Gulgong to start the trail. We worked our way down to Mudgee (~30 caches) before setting up camp for the night. We had an early night so we could smash out a big day.

Tuesday – packing up at sunrise and setting out, the big day begun! We reached the first 100 by 2:00pm (7 hours elapsed). We were worried that we weren’t going to reach the 200 milestone considered how far we had to go and how long we had been tracking! The stretch from the Great Western Highway to Oberon made great time and we were on 150 caches. Instead of heading into Oberon to set up camp in daylight, we decided the best use of the remaining daylight would be to push through into the night for the last 50. Eventually we were down to the last handful, when we hit an area of the forest that had been logged. To make up the last few, we assumed there would be caches in Oberon, so we drove 50km back to town. We made the 200 at the Oberon Memorial Site and called it a (long) day.

Wednesday – I was all ran down from the big day, so we made our way back home! I found a few in Sydney, and made the drive back down home. It was a good to unpack and have a nice hot shower. Now for the long laborious task of entering these logs!

Thank you to all the Cache Owners along this trail. It was a real joy to visit another part of this great country we call home. It’ll be easier for me to return to the trail via Goulburn/Crookwell to finish off the series (and hopefully visit any further extensions). TFTC’s!

2/5/17 Found with muppet95. Muppet95 mentioned to me that he was keen to hit up The Road Less Travelled series and we decided to take a few days off to go on a bit of a road trip. I wanted to shoot for a goal of finding at least 200 caches in a 24 hours period and we made plans accordingly. We drove up to Gulgong on the first day and arrived in the early afternoon. We started The Road Less Travelled series there and headed south towards Mudgee, picking up approximately 30 geocaches on the way. We spent the night camping on the outskirts of Mudgee and had an early night, with the expectation of an early start to have the best chance of reaching our goal of 200 caches the next day. At the crack of dawn on day 2, we packed up camp and set out on the trail, finding our first for the day at 7 AM. We then spent the next 14 hours travelling The Road Less Travelled, caching the series and picking up some additional caches along the way. We powered on well after the light of day had disappeared, because we were on a mission and were resolute in our efforts to achieve our goal for the day. We reached a point, down near Gurnang in the pine forest, where the area a cache in the series was supposed to be had been logged and we could not continue, without backtracking and going the long way around. We made the decision to turn around and head back to Oberon, where we would pick up the last remaining few to reach our target number. I am very sad to say that on the way out of the pine forest, a wombat ran out as we were driving past and was struck by the underside of the car. We stopped immediately and I rushed over to its aid. The poor thing was in not in a good way and I did what I could to provide some comfort but it faded away within a matter of minutes. The accident is very distressing and upsetting, and it put a real dampener on a long and tiring day. There was nothing we could do at that point, so we continued on our way back to Oberon, picking up some more caches in town. We reached our campsite and setup, keen to rest up and have a deserved sleep in. It was another cold night, definitely dropping below zero degrees. We woke in the morning and, after packing up, we made our way back to the big smoke. Thanks For The Caches to the respective Cache Owners, and for putting this series together, which takes us on a different route along the Road Less Travelled. We will have to come back at another point in the future to try and finish off the series, and hope that one day the series may be extended further for everyone’s enjoyment.

Found with Brewmaker while on a two day adventure finding caches in The Road Less Travelled trail series and other nearby ones.
We started at Meadow Flat and then headed north (having previously headed south on another adventure) through Sunny Corner and Palmers Oakey before camping overnight at Wattle Flat. Then it was on to Sofala Sally's Flat, Pyramul and heading north towards Mudgee before we ran out of time. Will have to come back to finish the series. Most caches were easy to find and it was a very enjoyable drive along these country roads some beautiful scenery, historic places, native animals etc.

Found with MikeV1 on Day Two of our adventure out west. Over two days we managed to grab 100 finds while attempting part of TRLT series. We started at Meadow Flat and headed north passing through Sunny Corner, Dark Corner, Palmer's Oakey, Mt Horrible, Turon, Wattle Flat, Crudine, Sally's Flat, Sofala, Pyramul and Aaron's Pass, before detouring to Mudgee to refuel and then head back to Sydney. We had a great time taking the Brewmobile along these rarely used country roads, seeing some amazing scenery, old homesteads, cemeteries, plenty of wildlife and natural landforms along the way. Most of the hides were easy to find with good coords and hints. Thanks to all the COs for the time & effort that has gone onto placing these hides.

Day 2 of our fabulous adventure with Skyebomonkeytown and Team Canary.
After enjoying a delicious dinner at the Capertee pub last night and staying over at my mate’s place in the valley, we commuted back to The Road Less Travelled to continue the journey. It is obvious this series took a lot of effort to organise and to get it up and running. A big thank you to all the COs for your hard work. It is greatly appreciated.

Had a great weekend with Calypso62 and Team Canary attempting the first half of TRLT (most logs signed as a combo of C62 TC and SBMT). We stayed at a friend's place in the Capertee Valley and "commuted" both days through the lovely countryside. We also incorporated the Mudgee parkrun into our weekend on Saturday morning - C62 and my first. Thanks to all COs for the series.

Here, it was more a case of "damn that huntsman is big" - a very furry cache guardian was sighted when going in for the find. Right on top of the cache. Eek!

Day four of our five day geocaching trip from Brisbane to Canberra for Easter. Today we cached from Gulgong to Sofala, on the road not so often traveled, working for our 100-in-a-day challenge. Cool

We are caching for 100 or more: that is our aim, so nice quick finds are the order of the day. So these logs will be rather generic - written up after the trip is well and truly over.

The country we traversed was wonderfully varied - a few Ks of sealed road but the majority was gravel - easily handled by our GeoFalcon, although we laughed several times at how the white dust (in sharp contrast to the usual brown and red of Queensland) made it look like a ghost car.

We crossed many causeways, traversed valleys and crossed mountain ridges. Scenery was magnificent. All in all we have only two DNFs in the total trail, so that was a bonus.

Would we recommend this trail? An unequivocal YES!

Looking at the RLT on Google Earth, you really can see that dam from above. We covered the cache up again to protect it.

Found at 5.05pm on 23rd March 2016. TFTC.

We discovered all those many a couple of days ago.

We have solved all the interesting mysteries before we started our trip to the Mid Western Region of NSW.

Day 1

We started the day in Meadow Flat, followed by Sunny Corner and Dark Corner past Palmers Oakley.
We loved the hilly nature along many peaceful Gravel roads. Many smilies were forming on our map.
We finished the day in Bathurst.

Day 2

We started all fresh again in the morning. Leaving Bathurst, we were able to get going about faster along the sealed road.
We reached Sofala at around lunch time. We couldn't believe that about 40,000 used to live here. It really seemed that the city stopped developing in around the 1850's..
We continued towards Hills End and Windeyer through dry grassy land in 47 degrees heat.
We spend such a beautiful night here in Windeyer in the caravan park. We booked one of the train accomodation where you got to stay in the train back in time. What a great experience. We really liked Windeyer as it seemed so far away from all the city rush. Te locals were very welcoming and were happy to see us in the pub next door for dinner.
What a great community living were it seems like everyone knows everyone.

Day 3

We left Windeyer after a big breakfast. We travelled along Hills End Road until we reached the turn towards another Gravel road. There wer many animals to watch and it got even hotter and hotter.
This day ended in Mudgee.

Day 4

We took a look at Mudgee city today were we searched for a couple of caches and ten continued towards Rylstone.
After we continued to the Wollemi National Park which a good friend recommended us to go. Here we climbed on the top of the mountain and simply enjoyed the stunning view and the tranquil nature.
After, we traveled towards Kandos, Capertee, Cullen Bullen, Portland and Wallerawang back home to Sydney.

We hereby would like to thank all owners for this great interesting tour. We got to see many historical places and sometimes felt like as if we were living back in the the 1850's, which is a good thing.

Thanks

On the road again,
To caching places that I've never been,
Logging smilies with my geocaching friend,
I can't wait to get on the road again.

Thanks to ALL the CO's that have placed caches along TRLT trail.

This was #73 for Day #2.

We completed this series over 3 1/2 days in total, with a side trip to Hill End which we thoroughly enjoyed. We were heading homeward bound after a couple of weeks on the road, touring and caching around southern Queensland and NSW, and this series topped off a great holiday. Thanks to all COs for their efforts in placing these caches and making this series possible. TFTC!
Cheers,

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Continuing on TRLT series which we started last year. Finishing this series off as and when we have time.

Apologies for the generic logs, when doing so many caches it certainly is easier. I will however note anthing extra on caches that need it.

Thanks to all COs for participating in this series of caches for us all to enjoy.

#3351- The first of the Webguy stint of the trail for today, only to be short lived. It sure is big- and an easy find too. Thanks

Today we travelled to Sofala, dropped the caravan off & continued on TRLT trail. Heading back towards we stopped yesterday.
This was great farming country onto flat land & into the mountains.
Thanks for placing this cache Team Webguy

#3,804

We got our 80th cache for the day here, which had been our rough goal when we set off this morning. But we still had plenty of daylight left, so we knew knew we could at least get a few more & comfortably make it to our target campsite at Sofala. Ha, we ended up keeping on going when we made to Sofala, and made it a huge day for us.

And I've just noticed from my list that this is our last webguy cache for the series. Thanks for your section of the road, I really enjoyed the chatty cache notes and the easy (mostly) caches. And thanks for throwing in a few multis, they made a nice change.

Thanks Smile
