Container has broken and needs a little work to find a better spot. Will replace as soon as I can.
Day 12 of a hopeful 50-Day caching streak... This is one of the requirements of our current Geocaching License Challenge. We have been looking ahead and decided that we no longer need to hold off on Tauranga caches. After months of neglect, it was time we did a bit of a raid here... With Gap (of Fap and Gap)...
Another area we've visited before. We remembered the great views, the huge pine and that steep hillside vividly. It was a little intimidating to think that the high difficulty and terrain ratings must mean climbing is required... We're not prepared for that. Luckily, we spotted something that was just within our reach and we didn't need to climb too far. TFTC.

We made our way over to GZ and instantly said... there it is. Amazing camo but it was looking slightly out of place. A neat little hide with great view out over Tauranga. Thanks TNXPro

After a successful call nearby we thought we would have a go at finding this one. We arrived at GZ and immediately spotted the hide - call it luck or call it an experienced caches eye - whatever our luck was in and we soon had the cache in hand. Another great camo job TFTC.
Today the HH kids got to choose the caching adventure, and were sure that tree climbing sounded like more fun than the group mob caching happening at the Mount! :/
We arrived at GZ, Mr HH was up the tree in a jiffy, MiniJ was peering over the bank contemplating other trees, MidiK was swinging from a branch trying to get her feet up like Dad had. Meanwhile, I (Mrs HH) was standing about 15m away, contemplating that my fear of heights gets worse with age and is amplified further when the kids are nearby!
Fortunately we'd gathered some clues from previous logs, and the cache was located before anyone plunged to their death. Thanks for guiding our family fun this afternoon, MidiK thought this hide was worth a favourite, and that it was funny that we all walked away and left Dad in the tree.

After thinking about this a bit more and reading some logs I reached out to a fellow cacher for some advice, they persuaded me to come back for another look at this tree.
Raced out here today during a quiet spell at work and faced my fears.
I wasn't too good on the climbing side of things but after a short scramble about I had this cleverly camoed cache in hand. I had forgotten my pen in my eagerness so back to the car to sign the log and back up the hill to replace the cache.
Thanks again TNXPro for another unique cache in the area.

The hardest of the souvenirs for the 15 year challenge had to be the 5star cache one so cheers TNX and good on ya for putting out a couple more 5 star caches. Had some mates over today so decided to take them on a caching trip first off we went to Baypark to look for your new one and lucked out there! So now off to the tree. I had been here briefly a couple of days ago and got a little way up the tree with no luck of finding anything. Today tho different story got the cache very fast and awesome camo TNX. Had another go at the tree and got a little further up this time before kiwijade freaked out more than I was and got the orders to get down haha.
Cheers TNX earns a fav from me awesome view and cool tree

When this first popped up I dismissed it. I'm not great with heights, however we were out this way so went and had a look. On approach I remembered there used to be a cache here that was archived.
And then I saw the tree, and that bank. Hmmm. We gathered round and I thought I'd at least attempt to get up the tree. Was a challenge even beginning the climb, and I made my way up a bit, thinking "this isn't too bad". And then I looked down. Because of the bank dropping away I was quite a way from the ground. Then I thought about the Terrain Rating. Maybe this wasn't all about extreme climbing? The rest of the crew were calling me to dismount before I caused an injury I might regret. So, giving up, I spied something! Sure enough had the brilliantly cammoed cache in hand!
Fave point. Very well constructed.

Well, I came. I saw the tree, I saw the height of said tree and the bank it is on.
I gazed upwards and between branches but I ain't climbing that. I'm uncomfortable with heights.
And there are tornadoes around so yeah.....nah.
But, very nice view from the hill!!

Woo woo...not ftf but I get my little smiley, a D5 for the road trip and it fills a spot on my D/T matrix. Yesterday's recce was well worth the trip as the cache was quickly in hand today and it was actually PoppyMJR and GraceRMR who retrieved it - you can't keep those two out of trees! We met up with Phillip.Perry and Jnr just as he was leaving GZ (ish) and he thought the hair tie could possibly have gone higher - though I did note he didn't move it Brilliant tree for climbing - no need for ladders or ropes. Fave.

I'll happily take 2nd place on this one today - stoked you choose this spot too after the last cache here was archived. I arrived all geared up for a bit of tree climbing, starting the ascent was definitely the hardest part - Everything was pretty easy from there.
A quick find and after texting TNXpro it turned out I'd gotten a bit lucky with it as well - which is sort of my geocaching technique CCrichie would agree. Nice to meet you here with all your mini cachlets. I especially enjoyed your youngest telling me "We will find the treasure first!"
This cache also left me with an interesting thought. Would an arborist consider this a D5? It seems to me that difficulty is relative and for some people maybe 5 stars is right. For others maybe 5 is a little generous. All in all - good cache and Wow, what a view...

Found with Dad today - he brought us here yesterday and we had a great time climbing the tree - Dad got a bit scared when he saw how high I got! We came back today and Poppy and I were back up the tree to grab the cache - Dad signed for me as GraceRMR.
Out this way visiting my sister when this one came out. Stopped to have a look - saw the tree and thought - I am not that silly! Saw a decoy and looked at GPS nope don't think so. Looking at these notes I may have to come back for another look
FTF for me all the way from Rotorua I knew I had a good chance on this one as most people would be waiting to get this today and I had an entertaining afternoon watching Christian climbing the tree He went a little higher up the tree than I did. I guess I'll have to log another T5 / D5 cache for the challenge it was just to tempting once I found it I had to sign log for the FTF.
Thanks TnxPro fave from me so many options here.

Thought that after the bedlam of the morning/lunchtime new cache frenzy we had better come and scope out this little blighter on our way to something more sedate....like the library. We arrived to find GZ already occupied....had they found it.....it turns out Bruce hadn't found it and was in 2 minds as to whether he would log it with the 17th less then 12 hours away. As we joked around at the base of the tree looking up (we thought we are the right tree) talking about how busy this park would be over the next 48 hours.....around and up I went....up and up, always looking for a possible container. I left a blue hairband at the highest point I reached....if anyone cares to beat that......nice climbing and maybe an "ape" cache could go in here!! A sneaky hide - I decided to leave this intact for the challenge......this gets a fave point for being an awesome tree with awesome views. I have been looking for something like this to hide a cache in.....nice one TNX!
