The current challenge for the wheel of challenges is to find 100 caches during the month of April. So today I am out with TrinityNZ and JustlookingOO to get as many smileys as possible. (All logs signed today as JLT).
Thanks for the cache, and another smiley.

Out and about with LL113 and TrinityNZ to ensure we all earned the Wheel of Challenges souvenir (find 100 caches during April). Log signed as "JLT". A quick easy find as our first of the series.

Out and about on this lovely ANZAC Day north of Foxton way with JustlookingOO and LL113, tracking down 100 caches this month for the 100 smileys in April challenge. The KAS trail is a great way to quickly find a lot of caches. This was our first one of this series today.
Found as per cache name. Log signed as JLT for JustlookingOO, LL113 and TrinityNZ.

Today’s mission is to try and push ourselves over one hundred caches for the month, and fifty for the day. Targeting the KAS trail (plus whatever others we need depending on how many we find). In the end we managed 50 finds and 10 DNF’s - hard work!
Thanks!
Thanks!
Got a little surprise and a laugh when we found this one Happy Holidays everyone TFTH
Today started out innocently enough, I was to make my way from Wanganui back home to Wellington. Because it's a long weekend I was in less of a rush than usual as we had another day off tomorrow (Labour Day) so I decided to find a few geocaches along the way, and then a few more, and a few more, and before the day was out I had logged 60 of them (that's a pretty good day for me). This was one of the geocaches that I found:
A big part of my numbers today was doing this KAS power trail series. All good here, cache was found as described without any trouble.
Thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this geocache.
I enjoy every cache I find, and it is only with CO's placing them that this wonderful game continues.

Heading south today. I was planning on finding a whole heap of these caches this afternoon but between running out of time and losing interest, when I discovered that the trail really needs a maintenance run, I ended up only grabbing two. This was my first. TFTC
Today I found about 20 caches done and couldn’t find one, I was very surprised most of these haven’t been found for nearly a year!
This was our Last find for today! (we’ll see) and we were planning to go to a cafe but soon realised how small this town.We ended up getting a icecream and a salad to finish it off.
I wrote in the log and concealed it carefully back as found,
TFTCSL Thanks kaŝmemoro for this Traditional cache!

Located around 20 caches today in the wider Sanson area today, but this wasn’t one of them! I had a very successful morning but half a dozen consecutive DNFs this afternoon, rather frustrating! Didn’t spend too much time looking for this one – it didn’t appear to be in the ”obvious spots” and I was conscious of being observed from across the road, so was happy to be on my way again despite coming up empty-handed!
Today StreetWalkerNZ and I are heading up the Pohangina Valley to find the remaining unfound 20/20 caches and some solved Wildbore multis plus what ever else takes our fancy. Then the scenic route back to Palmy via (late) lunch in Feilding and a few other caches.
The only KAS cache found this trip - we wanted to bring our find count to a nice round 30 and this contributed easily. Good parking. TFTC.

#21155. Felt a bit exposed searching here as there is a new house just across the road (it probably wasn't there when the cache was placed). Pleased to make a quick find and be on our way again. TFTC.
Looking for 50 finds today for a challenge.
Looks like a good series to do it before it gets too hot.
This is number 21. Added another log.

Decided to go for a drive for my birthday, the day NZ goes to red under traffic lights framework. I haven't cached for a while, so what better way to explore the country side. After failing on a multi at Rongotea, this cache find, got me started for the day. Thank you for the cache.
Yay a successful one after a few sad faces happy again on we go
Lucky this one's not crawling too

Yes KittyKate22 construction is rather in the way. However an easy find, parked on other side of road. Log now full.
Thank heavens for the lovely loos at Rongotea...what a beautiful surprise to have nice clean facilities to use!
Had the day off work. So pleased to be able to geocache after Covid levels 3 and 4. Headed to Bulls then Sanson. Decided to do part of this power trail. Definitely ups the cache/hour rates. No problems with most of the caches. Thanks

I have said it about three times before in the past that I plan to finish of these Kas caches but for some reason I never did. So yet again I going to try and complete the remaining ones
Started off with 8 to go now down to 5
This cache helps with filling in a missing dot on my calendar matrix, getting the calendar completed is going to take some time as many of the missing days are on work days making it difficult to get out and get one making thing worse there are not many left that are nearby, these ones I will save for when I can get out but have limited time as for the others they are at least 30 minutes or more to get to ground zone just to get one cache

This is day nine of a ten day trip down to Dunedin and back to move my daughter there so she can get her master’s degree at Otago University. I spent the morning around Himatangi doing a series of caches, and then headed up to Turangi. I was going to stay a second night, but the weather was closing in.
I saw this series on my way back from the WENZ 2018 Mega last year and thought I have to do these one day.
After spending the night at the holiday park at Himatangi, the rain had stopped long enough for me to continue where I left off the evening before. TFTC.

Today was a numbers run for us. Lots of caches to choose from in this area so we did all but 2 of the KAS series, the mint tin series and some railway ones. 98 caches found in total and 2 DNF's something tells me we are going to have to go out again to find 2 more today. Many thanks to all the CO's of the caches we visited today, hugely appreciated and certainly love the quiet roads after Auckland.
Day 3/9 of our New Years trip up to the North Island. This was find #72/100 for the day and #141/526 of our trip.
Today was a numbers run of mostly PnG caches. We started in Palmy and set off to see if we could Spell, then headed up to Bulls and after that rounded up a few Smurfs, Herbs, Airplanes, Railway stations and anything else along the way until we came in to finish the KAS trail we started in Oct 2016. We are finally here to finish off what we started in 2016 on the way to the Mega in Turangi. As intended most were pretty quick easy finds. Thanks for the effort involved in placing and creating this series for all of us to enjoy.

Quick Quick find here. First of the day on my bike ride round the power trail. Tftc.
My second to last day on the north island and rain was coming so I decided to hit the trail to see if I could get a quick 50 or so. Loved the series, a few had full or wet logs, I had stash of presigned replacement logs in my pocket so replaced as necessary. Thanks for the trail kaŝmemoro

mr and mrs are on a post 2018 WENZ Mega road trip, before going home
Today we’re in Manawatu and Horowhenua area, with some time dedicated to the KAS Series
Found caches have typically been signed MM78, although a few have been stamped mrandmrschosen1978.
Apologies for generic logs but with so many... condition of caches varied with good dry logs to wet/damp logs, we added some rite’n’rain slips to some as required
Thanks for this series, we appreciate the time and effort made in creating this series

Heading to Wellington Mega a day earlier with Squirrel Nutcase and NZ Flossy a day earlier.
Out to collect caches that we have previously passed.
So sorry cache owners, we had a fairly large find today so it's a copy and paste day.
Thanks everyone for their cache placements that we found. SLTFTC

WENZ Mega Weekend is almost here... Motoring south today with Gap (of Fap and Gap), and NZFlossy. Our intention is to cache our way to our accommodation in Lower Hutt... The big news of the day is that Highway 1 is closed at Pukerua Bay. A truck crash and chemical spill have shut down all lanes coming to and from Wellington. We have plenty of caches to find to keep us occupied, but this could be a long wait...
Friday: I have been looking forward to this next collection of caches; a sweep south from Sanson, along Highway 1. I am mostly looking forward to the historic railway caches in the Manawatu Rail series... Deviating from the main road, we came into Rongotea to finish off the KAS Trail. These cache hides were typical of our earlier finds... Some of the logbooks are tired and need replacing. Nevertheless, a quick find. TFTC.

On my way to the mega with Squirrel Nutcase and Fap and Gap. Having lots of fun and enjoying the ride and the scenery. It’s what I love about caching - great company and visiting great places. Thanks to all the COs for all their caches Hopefully we see some of them at the mega this weekend TFTC
Up for the Mega for the week, headed up the coast for a couple of days on family stuff, but did get few caches in for the day. many thanks to the cache placer's - Bitsprayer
It’s Day 1 of our 2018 WENZ MEGA crusade and Team BOP are well represented by McJandals, NZFlossy, TNXPro, Davidson Clan, FapAndGap & Squirrel nutcase and myself.
We have a huge hit list for this 5 day affair so it's gonna be a little manic. We’ve signed our logs either individually or as ‘Team BOP’ depending on log space, size or condition. A special thanks to all the CO’s and those who have helped keep these caches in good order.
Cache found quickly thanks to accurate co-ords and a straight forward placement. A neat series and theme but most of the log sheets need replacing and are good examples of my we should be using waterproof paper. TFTC.

This is my 3rd time out here collecting these powerline caches. Came here to collect a car seat and decided to clear 11 caches to join some smiley face lines together. For some caches I signed as NB. This was a nice quick find to start the hunt. TFTC
I was in Palmerston North from Thursday till Sunday, visiting from Wellington. The main reason for the trip was for my son to compete in the Manawatu Winter Swimming Championships at Freyberg Pool. He wanted to achieve qualifying times for a big Intermediate School swimming competition later in the year and this was the last opportunity before the cut-off date.
While I was up here I thought it would be a good opportunity to pick up the remaining 27 caches I need to collect the last Heavenly Creatures souvenir. There seem to be quite a few in this area so it looks like a good place to get them all.
This is number 3 of 27. The cache is in fair condition. Not completely dry... but that is not unexpected at this time of the year. I signed "22/7/18 CR". Sorry for the cut and paste logs. As mentioned above, I was on a mission to get 27 as fast as I could.
Thank you

Down staying on Rongotea Road for a couple of days, so good excuse to do the KAS Power Trail first one for the afternoon and the sun came out, tftc and thanks for putting out the trail
With my intended route planned I’ve taken a day off work to grab as many as possible of the KAS animal trail before the weather breaks tomorrow. This is the only power trail I ever intend doing - just for the numbers - 100 caches needed for the Hidden Creatures souvenir hunt in just a month. Number 56 and the last for today as it’s very dark and threatening rain. A local stopped and asked if I was OK, but all good here. 56! Not bad for a solo mission. Off to find some accommodation for the night and a meal. Thanks for placing these caches to find.
In Manawatu for the long weekend so spending the day exploring - and collecting caches. TFTC
Over in Rongotea with one of the Jr. Cachers and thought it would be a good opportunity to grab a few caches while in the area. Did a few of this series when they were first published but haven't managed to find a convenient time to grab the rest. Only had time for a few caches today so decided to grab the ones along this road, starting at the far end and heading back into town.
Had to wait for a few vehicles to pass before attempting this one and the GPSr didn't settle initially on any particular spot so checked a couple before finding the cache. Last one for the day, TFTC.

A quick easy find of a little creature as we started this series. We replaced the soggy log with a new one. TFTC
This one needs a new log
The main goal today was the challengecaches between Rongotea and Sanson. A check in advance showed that I'm eligible for 5 of them and 2 to I'm not far away from fulfilling the requirements. With base in Palmy and without a car I hired a bicycle. The trip up to the challenges went smoothly. After the challenge’s it was tempting to ride Rongotea and pick some green down towards Glen Oroua. 24 caches today, of which 22 can be logged and 2 logged with notes. And 75 km on the bike seat. Thank you to all co for the caches

My son and I have been trying to get around to doing the KAS trail for quite some time now, ever since we finished getting through the nearby Chewy Mint trail.
The Planetary Pursuits event currently running, and an available free day with my son over the Easter weekend, seemed like the perfect excuse to finally hit it!
So I planned a route that also took into account some other nearby caches, such as this one, making a grand total of 84 caches to be attempted today, curious to know if we could absolutely blast our previous record (40) for the number of finds for a day. As it turned out, we had just 5 DNF's, so it was a tremendous result that propelled us almost all the way to Pluto in 1 day! I now have a very tired, but happy lad.
I apologise for the generic 'cut n paste' style of my log, but with 79 to do tonight I figured it was the only way.
This was a straightforward find but the logbook was complete mush. I took a photo to show the condition.
Having just had my first placement muggled a couple of weeks ago, I am very much in appreciation of all CO's who place and maintain caches for the rest of us to find.

Yay the last of this series - we can move on now lol. Only 2 dnfs on whole trail is not bad. Many of the logs were unwriteable and mush. Not complaining but letting you know! Sorry I didn't have more replacements to put in. Thanks for the series.
Cache nice and dry, bit wary of some wire hanging over the fence in case I got zapped!
Found with Swissfamily1 on the way out to a birthday party in Glen Oroua, Mum was funny cause she thought she was going to get zapped but I said you can't hear the ticking of an electric fence.
Last cache for today and decided to grab this one as a memento of going through the pretty little town of Rongotea. Very nice Four Square. Like the cache here, not hard to find and well maintained. I see this is a power trail but just a one off for me, the light is fading fast and cars rip around here - don't fancy caching in the dark. Thanks for placing this cache for me to come and find, not a difficult find and in good condition. Cute cache guardian too.
Was in Palmerston North for a meeting today, so took the opportunity to grab some of this KAS series on the way home. Decided pretty quickly that this would work better with at least two people in the car, so only grabbed six of these caches before heading back home. Will be back to grab the rest some time soonish. This was the first one today. *TFTC kasmemoro #153*
I didn't want to spend the entire trip picking up KAS Power Trail caches as I had other items on my agenda (plus it fives me something to come back to). I did however decided to grab this last one just before Rongotea. Another quick find. TFTC
Heading back to Wellington, then home to Marlborough, after visiting family in Bulls. There's a weather bomb unleashing above us, so of course we decide to do a power trail. Rain meant nobody else was around. Kids enjoyed seeing the "bugs" from the safety of the car as we signed in the dry. Thanks for this trail.
Quick find this afternoon with eltee291. Signed the log and replaced as found! Visiting from BC, Canada. Drove from New Plymouth to Palmerston North today so we stopped and got some of this series en route. Thanks for the cache!
Quick find today with hingis20. We are on vacation from Victoria, BC, Canada and today we are traveling from New Plymouth to overnight in Palmerston North. Geocaching and beautiful scenery - cant't get any better. TFTC
Here to complete the KAS series (well most of it anyway). Roads all good, not too much traffic. Thanks.
On the way back home now, driving and biking, to Palmerston North. Time to find a few little boxes.....
Thanks to the CO's for the hides. Cheers.

Caching trip with Mum Dad and cache slave (son). To get as many as we could in 1 hour...total 20. Happy with that. Thanks for the caches. Merry Christmas.
Was out with my father in law Popmac who provided transport so I could clear out this series and I quickly made the find. Thanks for the cache. Knocked off the series in just under three hours.
Found with bdp while visiting my family. Catching up on my logging finally! TFTC
First find of the day. Cute. Here from Portland Oregon (home of GC12,16,17 and 92). These ones are close to family. Tftc

Today, along with D6NZ, we were attempting to get ruby in the "Daily cacher" feat by logging 120 caches in a single day.
There were a number of trails in the area that we had already eaten into, so while we could hit pockets we lost precious time travelling as we ventured to each new hot spot. Today we planned on west of Bulls, north of Ohakea, skirting Halcombe and Fielding, then topping it off south of Himitangi.
Rocking along until we hit this KAS series then things slowed down somewhat with the need for both of us to sign the logs independently and many of the logs being damp.
This was to be 117th for the day, alas we could not find it.

In the Manawatu for the weekend with some caching buddies- Uncle Sam, NZTravellers, Stik-a-crane. The goal was to find as many of the local caches that we could in the space of a day. We managed to find 206, I think, in the space of 14 hours, with a few bathroom/ coffee breaks and a couple of meal breaks. We all had a blast jumping in and out of the car, racing each other to the caches, and laughing and joking along the way, and in general had an awesome weekend down here.
We really enjoyed this trail, and I particularly thought the guardians of the cache containers were pretty cool!
Apologies for the generic logs.... with over 200 caches found in one day, it was virtually impossible to remember each individual cache!
Log signed as Team SEAC (South East Auckland Crew) in order to save log space.

Our team from Auckland wanted to do a major day of caching, so headed down to Foxton area for a massive day. We got about 205.
Very sorry for the generic logs, but when doing so many in one day very hard to make notes on each.
But a big thank you to all the cache owners for putting out all of the great caches we visited.
