Logs

23-Apr-24
Maybe too overgrown

20-Mar-24
couldn't find it, bit grassy

26-Dec-23
Attempted a week or so ago, looked thoroughly around the rock and nothing remotely resembling a cache, suspect it's gone? Given the lengthy time between finds and the prior DnF.

08-Jul-23
Pretty sure we were looking in the right places but no sign of it today

29-Jan-23
Was up here yesterday. Decided I would check out the falls after all the heavy rain. A few small slips on.the way up from Te Puke end. But other vehicles had made tracks through them so I was able to carry on to here. No problems finding cache. Log sheet seen better days but still could sign. Took off thinking I was going to make it all the way to the falls to be stopped around the corner by a large slip. Lol. So had to go back and go the long way around to the falls But was well worth the effort getting there. Photos included of the slip and falls. Tftc

27-Oct-22
Great spot!! Log to wet to sign unfortunately. Moisture must of got into container. Found after a walk at the falls nearby

05-Jul-22
Got the afternoon off work and as the suns out and it’s meant to be raining the rest of the week, I headed up to get the Otawa series. Afterwards had spare time for a few extra caches. Loved the stop here and the view. Thank you. Cache soon found and all fine.

A bit of a scrabble around searching for the cache that had become slightly buried, but soon located it. All in good order. TFTC

We decided to head out into the country today and this cache was first on the list. Great view and thankfully no muggles around until after we'd already found the cache and we were back in the car. TFTC

27-May-18
We forgot to bring details of the caches in the Otawa area when we were staying at the Mount at the end of March, so having a free day today we came back to get them. Buckets of rain as we drove down from Auckland but we enjoyed a fine day down here. We collected this cache on the way down because parking was easier, in fact it didn't matter because we saw no Muggles on our way up or back nor whilst we were at the cache. Thanks Joules 1000.

20-Apr-18
Yes easy one!

04-Feb-18
Surprising number of muggle vehicles passing us by while we tried to find this one. Had to keep stopping to "admire" the view, in case someone thought a pair of grey haired old farts on their hands and knees were in trouble. It took a bit of probing but eventually Mrs S came up with the goods. We took the TB and were going to drop one off but although we hunted high and low we could not find our little bag of TB's. An interesting drive up though here and new territory for us.

Thanks Joules 1000.

03-Feb-18
Nice quick find

24-Dec-17
A chance to get out and about before the festive stupidities start (with the Otawa Track as the main objective for the day as we have been looking at for a long time), but of course a few other caches are always going to get caught into the action. So in the company of Kyb3r we started the journey back towards Hamilton colelcting a few erant caches along the way.

This being the first of them as we slowly made our way home

Our thanks goes out to all the CO's for the effort in getting these out here.

Thanks for the placement, Thanks for the cache

19-Mar-16
Hitting the trails with the 1HIK crew (11hpg11, HKCB, iammrwalker and myself) on a mission to help them clear Tauranga caches.

Overseer 11hpg11 starting making demands as soon as we parked at GZ. Sheesh! 11hpg11 doesn't like getting on all fours, but we got what we came for.

19-Mar-16
Yet another mission/meander/drive/caching blitz/story telling to Tauranga/Papamoa with some of the Hamilton crew. An early start was on the cards so that we could make it back in time so a couple of the members could make it back in time for the Night Glow Event held at the Waikato Uni. So at 4.30am 11hpg11, Kyb3r, iammrwalker and myself plied into HPG's new caching vechicle and headed out for the day. As usual a fantastic day out and a bonus for the day was that the weather was on our side, even though it didn't look like it. A big thanks to all the CO's for the placements, we signed the logbooks with 1HIK (our caching names put together) to save some room on the logbooks.

Great views of the valley from here, pretty much jumped out of the car and onto the cache. Thanks for the hide.

19-Mar-16
Another trip to Tauranga/Papamoa area with a group of Hamilton cachers. Today we planned to clean out a bit more of the area, just one more we keep saying, but new caches keep coming out all the time. Today our team consisted of HKCB, Iammrwalker, Kyb3r and myself. The logs were either signed with our names or HIK1/1HIK to save room. Today I was designated driver and that came along with a new set of challenges but we survived and didn't make too many wrong turns so all is good. A nice early start, left Hamilton at 4.30am so we could be over in time for a night cache plus plenty of other caches before a few of us had to be home for the Hot Air Balloon Night Glow event.

A great spot with some great views. Left the boys to get on their hands and knees to make the discovery. Thanks for bringing us here.

13-Mar-16
I found this Geocache along with HKCB, 11hpg11 and Kyb3r, a bunch of overachieving Geocachers from Hamilton. We signed the logs 1HIK to save on log space. This was our fourth sojourn or ‘mission’ as we like to refer to these trips, to the Tauranga area and even though we had limited time due to family commitments in the evening we still managed to find more than fifty caches and be home before dinner. This was due mainly to leaving at 4:30 in the morning. Credit needs to go to HKCB who came up with the plan and 11hpg11 for driving. As always we had a great time. I discovered HKCB has a big one, that the TV show Samurai Pizza Cats was far more than just a teenage mutant ninja turtle rip off, that when it comes to night/ early morning Geocaching ‘it's all about the lumens’, that road kill can make for amusing hood ornaments, that hpg has a big hole and that clapping in a state of the USA may well be the funniest thing anyone can say at 5am. A big thanks to all the cache owners who placed and maintain the Geocaches we found today.

This was a quick stop. It was bums up, heads down at GZ and a good time was had by all when we got what we were after.

05-Mar-16
Yes 2nd time round tftc

24-Feb-16
We've had this one on the to-do list for a while, and finally got here early this evening after doing some maintenance on our caches in the Kaiate Falls area. We took a few minutes to locate this well-hidden cache, thankfully not much traffic went past while we were parked on the roadside. Signed log and swapped trackables (picked up What Time is it? geocoin and dropped Shaye 2014 - ladybird from Sth Africa). We enjoyed the great view from GZ. TFTC Joules 1000!

Dot Day... Day 42 of a 50-day streak... Sharing the adventure with Gap (of Fap and Gap).

My candle is burnt... Two extreme days of caching, plus an all-night planning session (for work), and I am feeling shattered. Luckily, Gap came to the rescue... One for the day, to keep the streak alive. Not long to go for this part of the caching license. TFTC.

24-Aug-15
A bit windy at site. Watched the farmer round up his cows below. Great view over town
In TB Bear from Montana

This is a great hide, took me a while to find it. It was raining a little bit but I got there in the end.
Left a small toy, took nothing.
Thanks.
Great views of the local countryside that you don't often get to see.
Thanks for the cache.

15-Aug-15
We decided to find this one today for International Geocaching Day as it was the nearest one. Had some trouble finding this one and soon had all four members searching for this cache. Luckily we found this one and soon signed log.

SmileSmileSmileWas suppose to go tramping today but the weather was too wet. So i thought I would catch up on some more caches. Being wet made it a pretty much a muggle free day and I was enjoying myself. Road nice and quiet today but grass very wet - had to do a couple circuit to get the cache. View even good on this raining day. TFTC SmileSmileSmileSmile

I've pasted this spot many times lately - mostly on caching trips and I've always thought it was interesting and scenic. But I'd never thought of putting a cache here but I'm glad someone did, certainly worth the stop. Cheers Joules.

17-Jul-15
A quick find after spending the morning on a run in the nearby Otawa Scenic Reserve. MidiK was happy to hunt for this one in the rain with me. I've often stopped at these boulders for a breather when biking up this road!

16-Jul-15
No work & the best day we have had for ages so what better to do than put a few caches to rest.Had another look after lunch & spotted this one so just had to go specially with a possible FTF which I haven't had for a day or three. You have to be up early or go out late at night to beat the competitive edge about here.Nice easy find with no muggles apart from a few birds & cool to open a clean log book. Thanks joules 1000,enjoyable & a fav from me.I will take care of the bonus for ftf.
