We stayed over night at the Clairview campground. Heading further north, we made a few stops to find caches and to shop. This one, close to the campground, was an easy find. Thanks a lot for this cache,Murkel,on tour with Muckel1 27. September 2024 09:21
The Trip: Brisbane to Townsville. Delivering a car, bought in Brisbane, to friends in Townsville. Apparently Townsville sucks as a place to buy cars but it does turn out to be a Geocaching mecca!Day 1 (yesterday) of the drive was a 12 hour slog through rain and never ending potholes. Turns out it was a rain event with the heaviest falls since 1999 is some areas. Which I might have known about has I bothered to listen to the news . But it did make for an exciting drive. The early trick I learned was to *always* make sure I had gunea pig cars in front of me to follow and watch as they dodged potholes (some nearly the size of the whole lane )I stayed overnight at the Barracrab Caravan Park at Clairview, a lovely old park with a restaurant/bar right on the beach and started out first thing in the morning to find this, my second cache of the trip, on Day 2...aaaand found it!.btw ants can get really, really big
Wow, what a great view of the ocean from here. Nice quick stop and grab here..TFTC. We are heading back to our van at St Lawrence pub.
On our way from NSW south coast to Cape York. Stopped here for lunch. Parents honeymooned here almost 50 years ago
Near..ish! A popular place for travellers to stop it seems. *The generic bit for this trip*We are on now on our way south after heading north for warmer weather. From Cooktown back to Notth East Victoria, weaving inland and to the coast, caching as we go. No real plans, just taking each day as it comes and enjoying the adventure in our converted ambulance. Thanks to all COs for placing and maintaining caches for our enjoyment.
near sleeper is a broad term found and signed at 12.11pm love this part of the country bit busy these days but life goes on ,TFTC

On the hunting trail again with SeasonedBird (aka Mrs Geo). It’s a great day for caching.

For anyone making Geo plans, do yourself a favour and visit Australia’s only current Geotour at Ballarat while it lasts: https://www.geocaching.com/play/geotours/ballarat-victoria
And for anyone that can travel to Longreach, Queensland, late September 2023, Google “QOGM” which is the Queensland Outback Geocaching Muster. You’ll have at least 8 or 9 days of pure geocaching fun with around 200 like minded people attending a mix of events and access to over 200 geocaches placed by the QOGM team. It’s not a Mega, it’s better.

Towing the caravan with geodog Peppa and geocat Levin in the car.
We’ve had a wonderful week camping at Clairview, time for a couple more caches as we roll out.
I missed this one on the first pass but PDG spotted it.

This beach is certainly interesting and different to what we expected. Located the cache quickly before heading for a short stroll along the sandy waterfront.

A planned trip north with a mate and his family, sees us checking out some of our great countryside. We got in some camping and in some not so usual spots. It has been fun and the best part is I get to cache in places I do not usually get to visit.
Today we are on the move again and heading towards Mackay. I wanted to be in MacKay for the morning event on the 8th. Ok this is for a challenge and it is the last date I need for this one so the nerd in me says it is important, lol.
On the way up there are just a few I wanted to stop at and a couple are ones I have passed before and said I will get it next time. Today was the next time and Clairview is on the list. Lol.
This one was an easy find thanks.
Thanks for the cache and the hide, I signed the log and returned the cache as found.

Mum and GeoSon barking up the wrong tree. Other GeoSon found it within a matter if seconds. Tftc.
This is a late post. A very late post.
We decided to go camping thro SA in winter (yes that’s how late this post is) and as always with us, we tend to wing it as we go, no real set plans as to when or where.
By the time we got home I was more than grateful to see my bed.
The next morning however Buttons decides that going camping at Clairview would be the bee's knees, let's go. "what. now?" Yes now.
We don't bother with the camper, taking just the 3 second (actually the 4 second (I have timed it)) tent and we head off.
Puling up next to GZ I pick my spot and waste some precious time. Buttons announces found it behind me. Guess who was paying more attention to the hint. 2 / 3...... next.

Mrs Herbz had a bad case of cache blindness here. Mr Herbz just grabbed the cache right from where Mrs Herbz had been peering only seconds earlier.TFTC
Great Northern escape 2022 Day 109. Clairview Day 1. I spent the first part of the morning doing the caches along the Clairview shore line. Then I headed south to St Lawrence, where the nearest store is. Still wanting a few more to fill in my morning, I headed west up the Croyden road to the beginning of the range.
The three caches along the shore here are great places to see the magnificent beach of this village.
Thanks for the cache Nedandmrskelly

Just stopped in to Clairview for some lunch and decided to check for any caches. Nice easy find TFTC
Stopped off at the rest area and community centre for some morning tea on our way southward. We saw this cache marked on the map whilst we were there and decided to take a walk up the road to make the find here. That’s one way to use sleepers I suppose. Quick find exactly where the arrow was pointing. Thanks Nedandmrskelly
This geocache was found on a massive drive back from the MEGA event in Townsville to Melbourne. Did the drive with my muggle wife and half/half son. Whilst the family were in tow it was difficult to geocache, but I still managed some as rest stops on the drive.
Day 2 - From Mackay to Rockhampton.
Really enjoyed our time stopping here. The beach was amazing!

TFTC. We are making our way to Townsville for the Mega at Easter. As we make our way up we are stopping to find caches between our overnight stops. Always good to stop to stretch our legs. And find a cache as well. A great detour off the highway
