Heading to Albany for a short overnighter and cleaning up a few country caches along the way. So green this time of the year tftc
WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 33 - Wagin to Konjonup via Woodanilling and Katanning. A fairly short day today, but caching was slowed by intermittent rain showers. I still managed enough caching to meet my aims for the day and even stopped for a break at Woodanilling, although there was not much there. Woodanilling is a council office town, but it is the smallest town I have seen for a council town so far, even smaller than Wickepin. I could have taken a dirt shortcut, but instead went around to Konjonup via Katanning and a big store for a small shop. I need not have bought hat six dollar loaf of bread yesterday. I had a whole afternoon in Konjonup and not much to do. When the lunch time rain shower passed I walked a lap of town and the sports field and retired for the day.As I headed south from Wagin, I stopped at a few roadside caches, some with something interesting to see and some just one th roadside. I found this one with no problems today. Thanks for the cache Barnzy1247171.5 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & 2013 St Peter's Basilica A#258**Albida**
Popped out to the area to clean up some new LGAs over a 3 day heist! Happy to see theres a lot to keep me busy for a few days. Quick find on my way to Katanning. Definitely need the gumboots on for some sort of snake protection.....not sure if it would work but at least I actually get out of the car and help pazza with the hunt! Thats why we love geocaching in all sorts of weather!I do love a nice big cache in the country! Fave point for sure! Thankyou Barnzy12 for placing and maintaining Country Cache I - Woodanilling for us and others to find and enjoy

On another fun geocaching adventure with woolwood9.
Most caches found today were quick finds with a few requiring some searching.
Heading towards Albany but taking the "as many geocaches as possible on the way route"
It got to 35 degrees and there was lots of dust on the side roads.

*Thanks for all the effort put into setting up this cache for us to visit!*
Long time since last visited buy all OK here.

After a quick work trip to Katanning, I chose this cache to grab on the road back. Please to find an ammo tin with a TB in it. Thanks Barnzy
Out with B12 and C10 on a trip down to Kojonup, Katanning and Wagin for FTFs. Left Perth at 4am to make sure we had success in our mission.
Quick find of an excellent cache. The CO clearly knows what people want when they find a cache. Very switched on fella. Cheers Barnzy12!

Today the geocaching mission for TaurusSix and myself was to leave Bunbury very very early and head to the Kojonup and Katanning areas to try and obtains FTF’s for the many new caches that had come out yesterday. We had noticed them on Friday evening so decided to change our plans for Saturday and give them a go. As we were nearing Kojonup we still thought we were in luck as they had not been logged and the red FTF was still showing on the app. Expectatantly at gz we jumped out of the car only to find the first one had been found already. We must of only been a few minutes behind. As we refreshed the app we could see another cachers was heading from the opposite direction claiming the FTF.
Never mind though and well done to all the cachers who got there first.
It was still a great day for us , the drive was really pleasant and the sun rise was quite spectacular. Thanks Boyzrule5 for placing all these new caches and the interesting history lessons about the series.
This is our nineteenth cache of the day , as we head from Katanning to Wagin. Given we missed the cemetery one at Woodanilling we will now have to divert back to that. Cache quickly located, logged and replaced. TFTC

After taking a detour for a few caches on our way to Katanning, we were travelling straight past this one so we stopped and it turned out to be a nice quick park and grab. We added our names to your log and returned your cache back to where it lives. TFTC Barnzy12
Taking a quick caching trip into the Great Southern to stay overnight with axell33 in Katanning.
Cutting across taking some back roads for those “off the beaten track” hides we were going straight passed this one. A nice easy find on a beaut day to cache! Thanks for the hide Barnzy12.

Spending a few days in Katanning; my family settled here in the mid to late 1800’s. A nice quick find with everything in good condition. I haven’t seen one of these in quite a while. There will be some more regional caches in the area soon Barnzy12. TFTC
Country caches usuaĺly have a purpose to their placement. I spent an hour doing the heritage walk in Woodanilling on the way to this cache
One of our targets for this trip to Western Australia was to attempt some challenges, in particular The Great Southern Challenge, The Great Southern Challenge II and The Regional Cacher Challenge III. Today we focussed on visiting as many LGAs as we could in a day and to find at least once cache in each of them. We were fortunate to visit 7 LGAs and find more than one cache in each of them.
Accurate coordinates and the comments in the cache description led to a quick find of a good size cache. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks Barnzy12 for the cache.

Why did the little girl throw the butter out the window?
To see the butterfly.
Enjoyed the drive from Dumbleyung and had fun with the kids playing I Spy and trying to talk to the animals as we sped past.
When we got to GZ SirFancy got across the road quickly and found the great sized container, now to go find some lunch.

A much calmer morning today and we all slept in until after sunrise, something novel for my kids as of late.
With the house cleaned up and cars packed we headed back into Kulin for the final event of the weekend and enjoyed catching up with everyone over breakfast.
Our drive home started by heading further away and heading to grab some new LGA’s in Lake Grace, Dumbleyung and Woodanilling.
Stopped of in Wagin for lunch before heading to do the Boddington Lab cache.
The final stretch home I was serenaded by the snores of the geo-twins worn out by a huge weekend away.
Another goof day with 11 finds & 0 DNF’s

This was my Find 6 for today out of a Total number of 28 Finds and 0 DNF for for this Caching Outing. The cache was found in Good Condition and I signed the log and returned the cache as I found it.
This find brings my total number of Finds to 5175.
Using Narrogin as a base, my young geocaching buddy and I spent a lovely few days exploring the wheatbelt and all the beautiful friendly little towns along the way. Took a short detour on our way through to Katanning and made a nice easy find of the large amo box. Thanks Barnzy12 for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.
Staying in Narrogin for a few days with Gma allinaday. We had a lot of fun exploring the area and all the other little towns along the way. We found some nice historical sites where I learnt a bit about how life was a hundred odd years ago. We explored old buildings and enjoyed some long walks around lakes where I learnt a lot about salinity and what is being done to help reduce the salt on the land so more trees don't die. Thank you to all the cache owners for putting caches out for us to find.
A quick find on our way home from Nyabing. Yes I agree there isn’t enough country.
We hadn’t been on a road trip for a while so the long weekend provided an opportunity to do a bit of planning and set a course for Katanning. After a restless night in the tent due to rain and wind we were up and on the road early heading towards home. This cache was one we had targeted for the trip. Cheers and TFTC.

Made the trip to Albany today to visit the State’s oldest cache. I targeted several others on both legs of the trip to fill boxes on my profile or count toward Challenge Caches. Thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining the caches.
Touring the Great Southern using Geocachiing as our guide.
We headed out today from Kojonup and did a massive loop of some 420km. We saw some great historic locations, old schools, old halls, so much information shared with us today through Geocaching. We often say WA doesnt have the history of other States but boy you did us proud today.

It is just the 2nd find for us as we just started today. It is a great way to explore areas that we might have just drive by. TFTC and for making us realize there is more to little towns like Woodanilling and that they well worth a visit!
Headed to Albany for a few days, this cache was another find on our trip south... After making the diversion from our main path, we were followed by a quick find here
It was a pleasant surprise to find this one... Thanks Barnzy12

On the way to Perth from Adeilade - detour - found and signed the log. Thanks for the cache and hunt. .
Today was another day of taking a meander through wheat growing territory with ilook4geo. We are aiming to pick up various LGAs where we have not cached before and are just selecting two or three to represent each different LGA.
There was no problem in finding this cache and it was replaced in the same position when we had completed the necessary duties. Thanks go to Barnzy12 for placing this cache.

Love the country caches, but could you please turn off the bloody flies!?
Ha, thick today! Thanks.
Ha, thick today! Thanks.
A quick find of our favourite container type. Could hear farmer Brown and he sounded close but didn't sight him. In fact didn't sight a car as I got this one. Then drove through the town for a look before leaving and barely sighted a muggle there either.
Gotta love an ammo tin and always going to get a favourite from us. Thanks.

Hi there Barnzy12 - we left Katanning today headed first for Narrogin and then home to Armadale. This cache was both a quick find and a welcome break from driving, and the container and log are both in good condition. Thanks to Barnzy12 for this cache - our find #5770.
Sitting on 119 LGA regions found and what happens? A 120 LGA is published. So seeing my closest Unfound LGAs we’re down here, I decided to arrange a trip. I mentioned it to KrabiBoy who was up for a night away so we packed the car and headed off. We set a plan and off we went.
Always great to find an ammo can. All is good here.
Barnzy12, Kyzabra found your cache Country Cache I - Woodanilling, the cache is in good shape and we replaced it as found. Thanks for placing this and bringing us to this spot!

** This is a late log **
The caches I am now logging are from a day out caching with Mrs Jackylegs44. We couldn't decide which way to head, so eventually hatched a plan to do a bit of loop, seeing how far we got, aiming to pick up a few LGA's for their team along the way. All up I think we covered about 550km today, enjoying the scenery out the back of whoop whoop and collecting a small swag of smileys.
Since then, many more caches have been found and shared geocaching adventures have been enjoyed too, so it is about time that I got down to work on all those outstanding logs, albeit somewhat late.
I appreciate all the effort each of the cache owners has gone through to create and place each and every hide and I do not for one second take it for granted, I just need to get caught up so I can return to my usual style of individualized logs.
No problems finding the cache. Thanks for the smiley Barnzy12

Quick find on our way home after travelling wa for our holidays. Thanks for another large cache for the kids to do swaps. Tfth.
Decided to get muggle to take me on a overnight georoad trip from Bunbury to Wagin via Boyup Brook, Kojonup and Woodanilling and a few little caching destinations along the way
I just so wished GZ wasn't where it is. I'm over grass/weeds that may contain slithery creatures but decided to give it a go as if anything went wrong muggle was only metres away.
Was ok until I had to get my little legs over a log, nearly tripped. It's been a long day and my old little body is nearly worn out
A quick sign and back to the car
TFTC
oops forgot to write that I took TB
