Visited the location today for access update .Grattan street gates are still closed due to Metro tunnel works .Will enable asap
Had a good look, including at the most likely spot. Lots of construction vehicles and paraphernalia, so it may have been moved: David
Very cool. There is a plaque at the South western corner of the garage with some notes about mad Max and a stunning entry way that used to belong to a bank.
In Melbourne with my daughter doing a little bit of a wander around picking up a few caches while the weather was being half decent. While we were picking up the Adventure Labs around the Uni we came close to this one and thought it was about time that we had another look for it as we have previously looked with no success or been muggled out. Today everything was going our way and while it looks like there are a lot of works going on, none was taking place today. We headed off to GZ and CrackerGirl found this one rather quickly and our name has now been added to the log and everything returned as it was.
Many thanks tackle_head, we definitely recognise this carpark from the movie. Thanks again for the great Mad Max series.

Now that is one cool car park. I hadn’t read the hint and was initially thinking walking towards the lawn. TFTC.
Visiting from Port Macquarie.
We were meandering through the uni, completing various adventure labs when we came across this landmark and recognised it immediately. Swapped apps and saw there was a traditional within, what a treat!
As expected, gps is useless down here so the hint is essential and thankfully, easy to follow.
Thanks for the cache

Along with kangas11, we had a bit of trouble receiving reception on our mobile phone, but we found your cache and signed the log fav from me tackle_head. Thank you for placing the cache.
Accompanied with crank1 to do adlabs around the university during school holidays which was perfect timing to visit and quiet. We had troubled with gps around the carpark but I read the hint finally found it. Nice one. Thanks tacke_head for bringing me here and the cache
Been here twice now over the last three weeks. Unless there is a second free-standing fire hose here I can’t see then this cache is gone.
A milestone cache - 11,000. In the middle of Ad Lab meandering we broke off to find this physical cache hoping it would register as our 11000th, which it did. Cool location although it was raining indoors as well as out. TFTC!
TFTC from the Kayakviking!
A fav just because I loved the architecture of this place. Quick find even after dark.......
A fav just because I loved the architecture of this place. Quick find even after dark.......
After studying in the library for a few hours after a lecture, I thought I would reward myself by finding a cache. What a spooky place, can’t believe I’ve never been down there before. TFTC!
I have been meaning to do all the meander ad labs for quite a while because my wife actually works in the middle of them all. So today after a nearby event and CITO I headed over here and thought it would be easy to park on a Sunday ... not so. Eventually I found a park a couple of streets away and started my long meander around collecting these waypoints. Had a slight delay at a couple of spots but ended up getting them all.
While here I managed to access this one from the opposite side to the instructions but a nice easy find in a totally deserted area once at GZ.
Thanks tackle_head for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

TFTC for the those who can’t access the hint look on a red house reel in the middle of the car park
Wandered around the carpark trying to calculate the location but ended up eventually finding it via instinct. TFTC!
Staying overnight nearby in order to attend an event in North Fitzroy in the morning. Could not miss the opportunity to grab this cache once we had checked in. Must get my hands on a copy of the movie to revisit this Aussie classic.
Thanks tackle_head
Thanks tackle_head
Even when the .com website doesn't load (like today), with good caching deductive reasoning you can find this one! Thanks for the hide!
Wow what an area!! Out on a great day with echidna44 on a public holiday. What an interesting space this is. A nice cache to go with it. TFTC!!
On public holidays LeeLee likes to geo venture to places we would normally avoid due to them usually being really busy. Today's plan was to do some Ad Labs and trads around Melb Cemetery and Melbourne Uni. It was nice and quiet so got to explore without fuss
Looked at this beforehand but clearly not well enough. On arrival, LL was entriged by the entrance from the garden. Then the penny dropped! Without looking at the cache details I knew this was a cool and iconic spot and I knew why tackle_head would have a cache here
After a bit of wandering around, there was also alot of photos taken, I followed the description and the cache was soon found. Have to admit, I was pretty excited! This is what geocaching is about. Unfortunately I did not find the last of the V8 Interceptor today but enjoyed my time here.
Thanks tackle_head for placing and maintaining for all to enjoy. A FP from LeeLee

Caching on a public holiday with pinnacle333, we did four Adventure Lab caches around Melbourne Uni before tackling some trads. A very successful day.
What a spectacular place for a cache hide. Thanks for bringing us here tackle_head, a favourite point.

Loved this place. I remember the first time I found the entrance shown in the photo. I was working as a casual here at the time. Didn't realise it was in Mad Max until many years later. I chose a good day to come - no students or staff. Hopefully security didn't spot me looking super sus! TFTC
Yet another city trip for me today as I keep ticking off various caching areas of interest around Melbourne, with only the replacement buses on the commute in and out standing in my way!
Today's goals were all surprisingly accomplished as I cleared out some of my last remaining dots in the Hoddle grid, headed up to Melbourne University to do the recent Adventure Labs as well as other miscellaneous caches in the area, finally started chasing premiers in the cemetery, then finished things off by spending a bit of time in Docklands.
Directional skills aren't my forte, and when I saw the Metro Tunnel works restricting access to Grattan St, I almost left this one behind!
Amongst the Adventure Lab waypoints, I'd unknowingly been brought to a pedestrian entrance and, having seen some bikes in there, I thought it was worth seeing if it connected to the carpark mentioned in this cache.
Turns out, they were one and the same, and it just wasn't as deep underground as I expected!
It seems the builders have taken up ownership of this area for the time being, with various cars parked, materials stacked, and quite a few of them walking around too.
Luckily none of them noticed me as I ambled around aimlessly, trying to find the centre of this architecturally impressive but utterly disorienting carpark.
Eventually I came across gz amongst all the action and the cache was found very shortly after.
Everything's still perfectly accessible down here - though something, anything, resembling adequate directional skills is recommended!
Thanks to tackle_head for placing this traditional cache!

Apologies for the delay logging this. My whole trip to Melbourne for the T20 World Cup Final was a blur of sport, theatre and enjoying time with mates. And logging my finds in the three days here got lost in the shuffle.
Day two of my Melbourne trip, and, of course, the T20 Final is tonight. But first I headed out early for a few finds waiting for our third compadre to turn up at our digs.
After that we headed to Lygon Street for lunch, after which we went our separate ways - me to the Uni for some caching goodness.
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###
Easy find. My, that fits nicely.
Signed, replaced and time to head back to my digs so we can all regroup and head to the MCG.

###START OF ADVENTURE LAB SECTION###
Headed back via one final AL location. I snaffled:

“That’s not *insert part from hint here*” says my partner as I’m assured the cache is here. Alas, I was correct. Forgot my pen though, because what uni student carries a pen TFTC
Find #2921 for me. Found at 5:50 pm after attending the Figshare Fest at Melbourne Connect not far away. Well, the hardest thing about this one was finding the way in! After finding the P.C.Doherty cache, I was disoriented and assumed that the underground carpark nearby would lead me to this one. After wasting some time there, I checked the photo gallery to confirm that I was in the wrong place. Then the fun began! After spending a lot of time trying to follow the directions in the hint, I eventually found an alternative way in (the pedestrian stairs leading down near the cache icon). From there it was easy peasy. Thanks for the fun and the cache tackle_head!
I haven’t actually seen the movie but this is a cool parking garage!
Luckily it was pretty deserted which made for a swift find.

Finally managed to get my name on the log. Bit tricky but I only saw one freestanding item as described so that must be it. It was. Thanks for the cache. I’m visiting from Perth.
I've never considered a parking garage as "cool", but... I guess this is a first! Cool location, thanks for bringing me here. Will have to rewatch, now. TFTC from Tennessee, USA
I was on a bus driving job to the zoo today, and smuggled my bike into the luggage compartment underneath. I was able to cover much more ground this way and search out a few caches.
After completing one of the ALs here, I went looking for this one. I've done a few of the series around Little River and Avalon previously and enjoyed exploring this very distinctive structure.
I certainly recognised it from the movie.
I entered via the pedestrian/cycle entrance framed by its amazing sculptures.
The cache took me longer than I expected to locate due to the gloom and not looking hard enough, although it was smaller than anticipated.
Lots of equipment and materials stored here at the moment, but to restrictions on access to the cache.

Ok, now I forgive you for the hour spent walking in circles in the cold trying to find the entrance (just Google it). Once in, the hint made finding GZ a cinch. Missed the mad maxes but this place is amazing anyway, thanks so much for bringing me here! Managed to fit an off the wall TB in the cache, inspired by the otherworldly location. Thanks for the experience & TFTC!

I dropped by Melbourne Uni on my way to MSAC in Albert Park to watch some table tennis grand finals. ?? I intended doing a few stages of one of the Adventure Labs here and when I noticed that one of them was in the underground carpark I decided to look for this cache too, having never attempted it in all my years of caching. ?? I didn't park in Grattan St as suggested but parked in Royal Parade as it seemed a bit closer. It was lucky that I did as the lane I went down took me right to the ornate entrance of the carpark. I don't think I would have found it if I had walked from Grattan St.
I found the info I needed for the Adventure Lab and then followed the hint to the cache. While I wandered around I was probably captured on the carpark's security cameras. ?? Luckily no security officers decided to see what I was doing. There were hardly any cars in the carpark, only a few workmen's utes. Occasionally some student muggles wandered through the carpark. After a brief search of GZ I spotted the cache. I retrieved it and signed the log at 7:00 pm. TNLN.
Thanks tackle_head for the well-hidden cache in an iconic location and for taking me on another Mad Max adventure. ?? It's been several years since I found my last one. I definitely remember that scene in the movie as the "saucer" shaped columns of the carpark are very recognisable and memorable. ??

Second time I've been in here this week but I needed a trad today, so came back and had another look. What a strange place and even stranger entrance if you come in from the west. Don't be worried about the areas sectioned off, you can still get at this one.
great location. the hints really helped with finding the log, as wifi/reception is spotty down there. fun find on a lunch break. TFTC!
Been meaning to coome and do this cache for so long.
Suppose today waas the perfect day.
Ghost town Sunday it was.
The cache was a quick find.
Great scene in the movie.

This is a cool dark spot. These poles make me feel like I am in a massive water tank
In Melbourne for work for a couple of days so decided to do some caching in my down time. Another Tacklehead find for the morning.
This took me way longer than it should have but I am very happy to walk away with a smiley face. There is abit of work happening under here so I had to wait a little for some muggles to clear out.
Thanks for the cache

Found while doing the lab cache in here, and being questioned by security for taking photos. Anyway, surprised the phone was so accurate under here. Thanks Steve
A hopefully sunny day for a ride into the city. Dragged the deadly treadly out and set off to the Punt.
Completed a few AdLabs and some Virtual's, and a few other odd caches.
Pity about the lack of sun in the city (it was sunny out west!)
Strangle this car park was fairly empty today.
Saw the film and knew where it was taken.
Thanks for bringing me back here.
Thanks, Robmc.

I walked at least a kilometre around trying to follow the hint. Eventually I asked a local student who explained there were many entrances. Thanks for the hide.
Super cool carpark...we felt the Mad Max vibes while looking for the cache after realising that the compass wasn't working accurately down here and was leading us on a wild goose chase trust your geocaching instincts!!! Thanks so much for the cache!
Found after a long day of uni classes - had just finished a chemistry prac and thought I should finally knock this one off. TFTC

I watched the Mad Max movies locked down in a Sydney hotel room so this location was instantly recognisable. A fav point from me. tftc
I was across the road for a procedure and figured I'd stop in for a look for this one afterwards. It took a rather healthy look at the hint before I finally arrived at GZ but not long after, I was signing the log ast 13:45.

After failing at the stargate I thought I would try for this one in the university. Quickly realised where I needed to be but took a lot longer to gknd it - first bit of hint less than helpful when on foot. Eventually found a portal on the Professor Walk after circling the grounds.
Luckily the hint was very helpful at the second part- not certain I would have found it without it . Otherwise a cool location and a quick find.

Tried to follow the hint and got lost, so settled for wandering around soaking up the vibes of the alma mater of both my parents. In doing so, I came across a mysterious entrance that I just had to explore, and what do you know, I found GZ!
Very cool, thanks.

After another drop off at the Melbourne Showgrounds and as I was driving back through the city, I decided that I may as well stop for a bit of a stroll around and gather a few caches not I had not as yet found.
This is certainly a very recognizable roof line and I certainly remember seeing it in the movie.
Getting in here isn't a problem, you just can't enter from Grattan st as mentioned in the hint unless you are on foot, then it's not a problem.
Made my way to the said object and the cache was found without a problem.
**Thanks to tackle_head for placing this cache.**

Reading the previous notes I thought I wasn't going to get this cache but somehow I arrived at the entrance of the carpark and it's not fenced off!
No problems in finding the hint object and this became one of my two caches today for the souvenir!

Underground, as provided in the hint, but two major fenced off areas where cache may have been / still is.
Out with au.fait, we had a lovely day until we started a multi that took way too long. Still it was very enjoyable.
We roamed the pathways of the Uni and walked under shady trees to GZ, only to find massive construction work being undertaken and the area securely fenced off.

Out with the lovely echidna44 on a glorious sunny day to do some caching. The university has changed unrecognisably since i was there so we were wandering around like a couple of lost souls. Unfortunately we kept being obstructed by construction barriers, but not sure if it was possible to access this cache or not. In our case it was not. Loved walking around the deserted campus. Thanks tackle-head
TFTC awesome place... was initially confused how it was in the middle of the lawn but figured it was underneath from looking at other ppl who found it... the real challenge was finding out how to get down there. Though GPS didn't work underneath, it was still a quick find.
