Quick find at the start of our south north weekend adventure. Off to Hurunui for the night

We are so pleased you placed this cache here as we would otherwise have had no idea about this track. There are no signs or anything to indicate it exists and it is tucked away so well even someone who pulled into the parking area would likely not notice it.
The stream crossing looked more difficult than it turned out to be and was achieved without incident but with the most difficult part of the 200ish metre walk up the hill being a couple of trees which have fallen right across the track.
One of the trees has fallen in such a way to make it seem that the track has just stopped and was a bit tricky to get around but once that obstacle was overcome the rest of the climb was fine.
Once at GZ the cache was quickly located and is in great condition with some good swag.
Thanks nzkites for bringing us here , we will be back sometime to fully explore the many tracks in the area.

Been past many times but never stop. Today this was our mission. Enjoyed the loop round and the waterfall at the end. Dot overlooked this so took longer than it should. I decided to have another look and quickly found it. Lol. Tftc

05-Feb-21
Submitted via Garmin Live Geocaching. Last time I walked this end of the N/S it rained from the blade to here for 2 days. Had to stop and get this one while driving over thanks.

02-Feb-21
Nice little cache. Was tempted to walk the whole north south after getting this one but ill leave it for another day. TFTC

02-Feb-21
Nice little walk to wrap up a good day of caching. Did the loop back to the car park and the waterfall was a nice finish to the walk. Tftc

22-Jan-21
On our way from Te Aroha to Rotorua we made a small detour to have a short walk here. What a great spring there is on the other side of the road that we later found out people stop at to collect the water. The walk is lovely as well as we made our way up the track. No missing the tree where the cache is hidden with lots of holes to hide the cache. Cache found in good shape, TFTC.

Now NZ has moved to Alert Level 2, Geocaching is allowed but it’s up to each one of us to keep the rest of us safe.

Let's not turn Caching into Catching COVID-19

These are the most important things that you can remember and do:

COVID-19 is still out there. Play it safe.

Keep your distance from other people in public.

If you’re sick, stay home. Don’t. find this cache.

If you have symptoms of cold or flu get advice about being tested.

Wash your hands. Wash your hands. Wash your hands.

Sneeze and cough into your elbow, Sanitise your hands before looking for this cache if possible.

Log online each cache found and keep a record of anyone you meet.

Stay Happy and Safe while caching.

Disabling this one until the lockdown is over. Please stay home and keep your family and the country safe.

It was decided that a cache stop was needed on a journey from Te Aroha to Tauranga. This seemed like a good candidate and we are very pleased we stopped here for a delightful stroll. There were no problems locating the cache; I went straight to it.

Beautiful walk through the kaimai ranges. Thank you for placing a cache here Smile

Well well well.... that sure is a mighty familiar container Big GrinBig Grin
On our way back from a whirlwind trip through Coromandel to Auckland and home in a day to pick up a number of TMGT caches and on the way up the Kaimai's realised Mr Geckoh hadnt done his daily 5km+ daily run so a plan wasnt quickly hatched to do a 2.5km run into the Kaimai North South track return, and on the way of course pick up the smilie for this one, no need for the GPS as I knew where it would be.... somehow... But took it anyway to have a look at another one further along the track (unsuccessfully).
Made the find and completed my 5km run Big Grin

Lovely short walk through the bush and I was rewarded with
A-grabbing the caching and
B-finding a lovely waterfall at the end of the loop track.
Some other time I would like to come back to continue the walk past the cache and head up to the Henderson Tramway. A great journey for the summer.

21-Jun-18
Nice quick walk to GZ and thankfully didn't fall in the stream. TFTC

09-Jun-18
Nice short walk up the hill to the cache. Good easy find and we spent a few minutes enjoying the area before walking back to the car.

A little wet and sticky in places but overall good fun.

Very enjoyable walk on the way home after a few days away.
The track was certainly wet and slippery, especially on the way down

19-May-18
After the 18th @ 18 Event, I decided to sneak out and do a bit of a night raid to clean up some rural Waikato caches. I had found the original cache with a couple of friends, so I thought while I was here, I should sign the dotted line on this too.

TFTC nzkites, the cache was found in good order Very Happy Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 2 find(s) of 5 today, making this find #1805

A quick run up the hill to this cache for ApacheD and myself soon had the cache in hand before our weekend adventure into the Kaimais. Tftc.

24-Feb-18
We thought a bit of a walk to break up the journey would be a good idea so pulled in to find a substantial number of muggles. Not sure if they'd just finished their walk or were getting ready to go, but we said hello and continued on.
There was no one in sight as we neared our target so making the find was very straight forward.
The muggle's were still in the car park when we returned.
We left a pet rock- a snail.
Thanks for setting this up

18-Feb-18
On our way home from a wedding in Whakatane and decided to stop off here for a quick break. Thought we would do the short walk and to pick up this cache. A quick find. All is good here. Took the TB and will take it on a little trip.

20-Jan-18
Nice hide.

14-Jan-18
Returning home after a family bday celebration at Taupo over the weekend we decided to look for a few caches along the highway. We'd been meaning to have a look at this walk for quite a long time but today we made a point of it. Enjoyed the short stroll up to the cache location and with the help of the phones torch we found the cache pretty quickly. Continued on around the loop and was quite amazed at the waterfall - I'd actually never known it was there, or that there was a track from this side of the parking area. Tftc

11-Dec-17
Cool walk for marley and me on our trip back to tauranga. Left tb. Tftc

23-Jul-17

25-Feb-17
Well, I saw the Furby in there and thought, "My God, when was this last discovered?" But Lionfish was there a few weeks ago so Furbies must be "in" again. Great hide on a nice little bush walk. TFTC

06-Feb-17
Went around and around few times, even did a circuit with the torch, to no avail.
Found by *'touch'* on the next circuit. We enjoyed our walk around the Loop Track & got a look at the waterfall too, which was nice. Surprising amount of water going over for this time of the year. Thanks for the cache J & J.

31-Jan-17
Gave up. Tend to do that. Thanks for the walk though.

31-Dec-16
Lovely little walk to enjoy the native bush. Loved the little river crossing too. Tftc

28-Dec-16
I've been wanting to do the series of caches around Hurunui Hut for a while now, and they had just started to annoy me. Decided last minute to head up there this afternoon to try and turn them into smilies. Parked up at the top of the Kaimais and headed along the ridge track leaving about 12.45pm and headed straight for the hut as I would grab the ones I past on the way back. I was really impressed with the quality of the track, with big sections of it nice and flat. Got to the hut in 1 hour 40 mins, with the return trip taking a little longer. All up the trip took pretty much on 4 hours.

Last one on this section of the track. I had found the last one here, and struggled with the hide then as I did now. Checked all the spots and even got the torch out to check the deeper holes, but no luck. Thought I'd have one last check before leaving this one for another day, when I found a spot I hadn't checked and bingo, found the cache. Thanks for the hide.

27-Dec-16
A nice spot to pullover and stretch the legs. Rocked hopped over the stream and made a beeline for GZ while miss sat in the car. Cache quickly located in a lovely location. TFTC! Big Grin

Zara, Etherlord and I are at last on our way home from the Turangi Mega, heading back to Palmerston North. Stopped off here for a nice little walk in the bush. Way to long a walk in the bush it turned out. Etherlord and I walked around this tree for ages. Nice obvious hide but the cache wasn't there. I checked twice. Etherlord came over, checked and found it immediately. Arrrghh!

26-Oct-16
It took the Seagnoid and I three days to drive the ~250KM from Palmerston North to Turangi for the Mega.
I wonder how long it'll take us to drive back home given that our post-Mega road trip took us via Tauranga to collect the North Island's only remaining Webcam Cache!

We searched for a bit and both came up empty handed, so we searched each other's areas and I came up trumps where he'd missed it Big Grin

Thanks for the hide, signed as ZECATS - Zara, Etherlord Clan and the Seagnoid

31-May-16
This is a significant find for me ( no not putting my hand in wet creepy tree holes haha good hide) but this is my 1000th find I enjoyed the short walk even though in the late evening it was rather cool up here but it was good to locate with out too much trouble thank NZ kites for a great we cache

27-May-16
Great stop to stretch the legs. Beautiful bush walk. TFTC

Sorry camlia but I didn't see your message until after I'd been and gone. Perhaps the next person could confirm if the UK TB is still there, or if there is a note in the log from someone picking it up.

25-Apr-16
Can the next person to visit this cache please confirm that the UK TB is either there or not. It seems to have gone AWOL. Thanks.

24-Apr-16
It was pretty wet up here today, but we decided we wanted to revisit this area while we were passing.
I looked at the slippery rocks in the stream and went back to the car to get my hiking pole. Actually, the rocks weren't that slippery, so don't be put off.
We made our muddy way to GZ and used my stick again to search, although Steed found it. I found a piece of swag which is just what I wanted for a possible cache on SH29, so I swapped it for a furby.
Thanks for bringing us into this bit of bush again.

23-Apr-16
1803 Did the walk by torch light. Crossing the stream was interesting trying not to get my feet wet. Then up and round the tree a couple of times before spotting. Back down and across again.

18-Apr-16
Nice little leg stretch up the hill.
Would love to continue on this track but have to get back to work.

#39 Out with LimmyB. and cam_777 on a caching trip to Tauranga. Stop number 2 of the day. Misty rain but not enough to put us off. Kids were laughing at me as I negotiated the boulder crossing of the stream, they just went across hopping from stone to stone, oh the confidence of the young. Took abit of poking around but we were determined to drop off the TB here, on a nice bush walk. TFTC

28-Mar-16
Caching trip with camlia and cam_777 to Tauranga today. Nice walk. Had to laugh at Mum crossing the stream on the boulders, it was so easy, but she made it hard for herself. Took a bit of poking around but found it in the end. TFTC

27-Mar-16
out with camlia and LimmyB for the day caching in Tauranga. After a lot of looking around the tree found and logged it and left a TB. Hmm TB meant to be in Australia or UK if going this way please pick him up and try to take him that way. its family lives in the UK.

Second time here for a cache and a lovely spot to visit again. A quick pit stop on the way to Tauranga. Bit faster up than my last time here, good to know the fitness is improving slowly. Dropped off a travel bug that wants to go for a tramp.

23-Jan-16
A pleasant little walk here to stretch the legs on a trip over the Kaimais. Fortunately we kept our feet dry - the stream was low and easily navigable. TFTC Smile

30-Dec-15
It was nice to be out of the hot car and in the shade under the trees. watch out for the attach hens in the area tftc

26-Oct-15
My favourite cache so far! Brilliant spot! Well hidden and easy find, great clue, lots of treasures, child friendly, beautiful place. Thanks for a fantastic afternoon!

25-Oct-15
This was my twenty ninth and last stop of the day which would end up being a 260km round trip from Tauranga to Matamata via Rotorua, Tirau, Okororie and other small towns. Got 29 caches, a photo to complete a virtual cache and two TB's.

I hadn't planned on this stop but since I was driving past I couldn't resist the urge.
The stream was flowing quite quickly but there were enough stones to hop across. A brisk walk got me to GZ with no trouble and I found the cache quickly thanks to the coords and hint.
I dropped off a TB Red Cross Dog.

A really nice walk here that I would have spent more time on had I not been eager to get home after a long but rewarding day. A perfect way to finish it off.

Thanks nzkites

13-Oct-15
Like these much better than the road caches- Smile This is a good little loop walk and I have also done this one before -good spot and great tree I hope this one stays there as it encourages people into the bush TFTC SmileSmileSmileSmile

11-Oct-15
Today is International Earthcache Day so as I am meeting both Alpenmilch80 along with Sleschke later this morning to head for White Island (as a memorable Earthcache appropriate for the day).
So I arrived at the start of the short walk at just after 4am, needless to say I had the place all to myself, so locked up and headed for the cache.
I seem to recall another cache in this vacinity a number of years ago.
Very nice walk up the track and a quick find at GZ before heading back to the car and continuing on for afew more caches before collecting some good friends for the days adventure.

thanks for the placement, thanks for the cache

19-Sep-15
There are some holes I really didn't want to put my hand in and rummage around!

07-Sep-15
Out for my daily cache and with kiwijade at home with kiwibaby gave me a chance to hunt down a cache that looked like a bit of a walk and not possible while looking after kiwibaby. So shot up the kaimais and had a lovely afternoon walk along to the cache. Found pretty fast with good hint and gps spot on. Cheers nzkites had never been for a walk up here and really nice spot Smile

09-Aug-15
3.30pm - Been here before. Track a bit boggy but cache all okay. SLTFTC

09-Aug-15
Taking the circuitous route home after completing a seven cache types mission with Gap (of Fap and Gap).

Also visited this cache location in its previous life... It was a quick find today. The track up seems to have deteriorated somewhat over the years since our last stop here. TFTC.

02-Aug-15
I had just finished a night shift and I think what really tipped me over the edge was the thought of an out -of-towner scoring these [FTF]s. I knew if I was lucky I could get home from here and still achieve 5 hours sleep before the Magnificent 7 event on the Mount.

So I set out - in the fog and rain - work shoes with flat soles. What a mess Smile Got to gz and found the cache on my second pass - sneaky hide but there were only so many places a container that size could be. So good that you have kept caching in this area alive - could I be so bold to say this spot could use more caches SmileSmileSmile

Cheers nzkites TFTC
