We are travelling with richlink on our Annual Caravan Geocaching road trip, using geocaching as our guide. We are in Beautiful Mt Gambier for a few days, soaking up the amazing things this area has to offer. We especially love the bush, the back roads, and the wild southern seas. We really enjoyed our lap around the lake while parkrun was on. We walked it, obviously, taking in that gorgeous blue view at every turn. And we learnt a thing or two along the way. We had a little trouble with the final numbers but thankfully the CO was available to set us straight. Although we still cant see the error of our ways . I loved my fleeting visit to Mt Gambier and would visit again on a heartbeat. Signed as the SADDLE club for teams Shazzar66, AtTheLakeHouse, Duppers Delightful Leap Excursion - or something like that!

02-Mar-24
While Shazzar66 was parkrunning a Lap of TheLake, AtTheLakeHouse and I were walking our lap of the lake, finding answers to this Multi, while oohing and ahhing at the Blue LakdWe were in Mt Gambier for a day and a bit, travelling from Adelaide to Melbourne following The Great Leap Forward Mega Event. We had a well thought out and researched caching list for our trip: Oldies, good and needed D/Ts, Challenge caches, caches with lots of Favourite Points, plus anything else that took our interest when we had extra time in our schedule. AtTheLakeHouse and I are working on a challenge chat requires several different cache types in different LGAs, so this cache was a perfect choice for us.After Shazzar66 finished her run, and ATLH and I had completed our lap, we went for coffee and brunch where the coordinates were calculated and double-checked. It was then off to GZ for the find, which Shazzar66 did. A sneaky hide.Cache signed SADDLE Club, our team name for the mega, we headed off for our next adventure. Thanks, -Beaker- for the cache, and scramping for continuing to maintain the cache for our enjoyment.

We were in Adelaide for The Great Leap Forward (Mega-Event). After the event we made our way through to Mt Gambier, and cached a few random caches in the surrounding areas.I found your cache, A Lap of the Lake today. Worked out the sums, came to the location it should be, confirmed by photos in other logs - I’m in the right spot, but couldn’t find the cache anywhere! Widened the search and still couldn’t find it. Must be missing something.

We've avoided this cache for years, but decided to take the plunge and do the walk today, collecting the numbers we needed along the way Razz.Plugged in the revised co-ords and went over to GZ Smile. Looked in a few places before realising the cache has shrunk since being placed - now a sneaky little hide Twisted. TNLNSL.Thanks -Beaker-.

After a lap collecting the information, and some discussion over numbers, we headed to our calculated GZ but came up empty handed. We lamented the lack of a clue and/or checksum, and gave up, leaving it for another day

Found by Rebel Acts.

with it being School holidays in Victoria I had some time spare to head to Millicent where I teamed up with the Empire for a few days caching in the area, we had a fantastic time exploring the area. Today was a nice easy day around Mt Gambier as I awaited for The Empire to arrive, once he arrived we headed around the Blue lake to do some Earth caches.

This is one of the caches found today. I loved this area and we did the lap gathering the information required, this was My first time here and I certainly will be recommending this area to friends and family.

Thanks -Beaker- for the cache.

On my way to Millicent for a couple of days of caching goodness... I don't think I've been through Mount Gambier since 2011 so a stop was necessary! Meeting up with Rebel Acts, we were able to check out the sights in and around the Blue Lake area. Coffees in hand, it was time to do a lap of the lake. Thanks for the cache -Beaker-.

On a little weekend escape with Purrfect Di and Jack after a long week at work.
Why not go caching to wind down and mostly stay away from people [:o)]

Round and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and there it is.... tricky little cache! Hunting around each and every day finding and signing using some or all of the resources of GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife), Whereyougo, Garmin Montana 750i, Montana 680t, Etrex 35, Samsung S21u, Samsung S9, with Geocaching App, c:Geo, or Geooh Go, and Android Auto and other maps... or often with just plain old dumb luck WinkCoolBig Grin Plenty of that actually!!!
*Logs are composed and published using GSAK of course.*

Please do stay as safe as possible when caching.
Keep a lookout for bogs, snakes, surprise cliffs, boxing roos, wombats, bulldust, and floods,
try not to get tetanus from rusty mint tins and don't fall out of trees...
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- but especially lookout for bugs from alpha to omega !!! . [xx(]

Try to keep Travel Bugs as the only bugs you share and pass on Big Grin
Now everything's opening more - even more important to sanitise and safely distance!!!

Much appreciation of all those placing quality caches out and about around the countryside areas,
in sensible safe places especially! - it keeps our game safe, fun, and interesting Cool

Thank you for reading all this addition to the log word count!

We did the lap around the lake yesterday but our feet were too tired to go to GZ so we did it today. After finally getting the right coordinates haha. Easy find. Thank you for this multicache Beaker!

Must be getting old. After failing to find 3 other caches this morning decided to go old school, do a multicache and have fun in the mist. If I was lapping a lake iam sure it was out there somewhere.

Fav for this one, an interesting walk around the lake with the pups. Enjoyed reading the storyboards. Cache neatly hidden away in a spot that i needed to look carefully. Enjoyed this one!

17-Apr-21
Doing the round of the lake with [@trodectus](http://coord.info/PR8JTE0) to gather the answers for the cache. When we had finished and did the calcs, we headed to GZ. We found cache quickly, extracted and signed the log and then replaced, not quite the cache container in the description. TFTC

17-Apr-21
Solved and found with [@coybear2000](http://coord.info/PR9547H). We were driving a lap around the Blue Lake as it was raining on and off. We found all the needed information, worked out the co-ords and headed to GZ. Once there we quickly spotted the hide, extracted and signed the log and replaced it. It's only now on re-reading the description that we see the container must have been changed. TFTC.

15-Apr-21
After wandering around the lake, getting all the information we needed, we finally had the coordinates to find the cache. After about 15 minutes or so trying to look for the cache, we decided to bale because it started to rain. Unfortunately, we were empty handed. We will come back to this cache when we are in the mount next time.

First time to Mt Gambier on our honeymoon in SA, greeted by a lovely sunset walk around the famous “Blue Lake” ... we gathered all the information, made our way to GZ, found the cache, very tricky, but didn’t have the right TOTT, so revisited the next morning and signed the log, TFTC and the “lap”

We did our lap of the lake, it's always pretty relaxing up here. We were watching the weather as the dark clouds rumbled across the sky hoping to have the final co ordinates sorted before the rain came through.
Well then the elusive cache was hunted, we looked high, we looked low, we drew blood (both of us, one on wire and one on bushes). We then looked in all the unobvious spots, the sneaky spots and there it darn well was.
We improvised our TOTT to complete the task, oh and the rain beat us so we ended up a tad wet, but we weren't going to leave without a find.
Nice container we like these. Thanks Beaker for the cache and the hunt.

I visited this cache with FeatherWaite on day 3 of a caching trip from Adelaide to south-western Victoria/south-eastern South Australia.

After a warm, but reasonable morning, the weather turned nasty with very hot and windy conditions until a cooler change very late in the afternoon. With fire and travel warnings also being received via automated SMS’, we had to alter our plans and were not able to visit a number of the caches that we had initially targeted. Nevertheless, we did manage to find a selection of traditional, multi, virtual, unknown and earthcaches.

By the time we got to Mount Gambier late in the afternoon the temperature had dropped significantly, which made some of the walks we were hoping to do much more enjoyable. The Lake was a beautiful shade of blue today.

Thanks -Beaker- for the cache.

30-Dec-19
Found during a caching trip with e.gregory1 to south-western Victoria and south-eastern South Australia for a few days. Day 1 saw us travel from Adelaide to Keith, the back-roads past Bordertown to Frances, Edenhope, Harrow, Coleraine, Wannan, Hamilton, Byaduk, Koroit and down to Warrnambool. That night we camped out behind the coastal dunes west of Warrnambool after collecting a sprinkling of local caches. On day 2 we returned to find a few caches around Tower Hill before heading through Port Fairy to Portland, spending the rest of an unpleasantly hot and windy day around Portland and camping out nearby. On day 3 we drove from Portland to Nelson with a detour to Dartmoor, then back to Ewen Ponds, Port MacDonnell, and a circuitous route up to Mt Gambier with a solid days' caching culminating in some rewarding finds around the Blue and Green Lakes. We were very lucky to locate a very pleasant campsite a few kilometres out of town in Xanthorrhoea (grass tree) mixed eucalypt woodland for the night. The final day saw us travel to Millicent to complete the SFE Challenge series, then to Kingston, Salt Creek, Meningie, Tailem Bend, Murray Bridge and return back home. All in all a very eventful and fruitful trip with some great cache finds, some easy drive-bys, challenging tree climbs, a number of strenuous walks and visits to many scenic locations. We found an assortment of traditionals, puzzles, multis, earthcaches, letterboxes and virtuals, including a rewarding first-to-find, a wide range of difficulty-terrain combinations and detours to locate some unloved caches.
Thanks for the cache -Beaker-!

Found this one today on a nice walk around the lake with Blinky. Ive done the walk before but the lake wasnt as blue as today. It also made me pay attention to the signs so I learned a few interesting facts.

out with mogni after maintenance run on the whole rail trail. Found dodging rain showers on a cold wet day. Quick solve and find. It also helped with the current " Mystery at the museum " souvenir challenge.

Had the coordinates for this one some time back, so was just a matter of getting to GZ and making the find. Quick find with Geodaughter. Nice hide and an informative cache. TFTC

Driving from Melbourne to Adelaide with gridge98 we stopped into Mt Gambier for some caching. Beautiful lake. TFTC a bit of hunting but found.

Made the trip around the lake and after a short search we found the cache, not a 35mm film canister anymore though, clever hide though.

Day 3 of my trip with Nettie knows to Adelaide from Melbourne, an interesting journey filled with some fantastic adventures and caches along the way.
Thanks for the cache

That took way longer than it should have. Missed one of the signs, wasn't quite sure how to interpret another. Finally got some co-ords with the help of a geo friend.
Eventually back in the area and couldn't see for looking. Co-ords were good but I was blind. PAF'ed the same helpful friend and located after getting lower.
Bit of a sneaky hide

Hi there -Beaker-.

We went for a stroll around Blue Lake today. We started at "A Lap of the Lake" and continued in a clockwise direction. In hindsight walking in the other direction would have proved to be a better option.

We enjoyed our outing and found 6 caches (& DNF'd 0) in our cache run today. Thanks for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places while we meander our way around Australia.

**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking. Wink
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing
**Left:** Nothing

Regards

Ian & Penny.

While spending a few days in Mount Gambier we decided that a walk around the lovely blue lake was on the agenda while the weather was pleasantly cool

We grabbed some caches on our wanderings and were fortunate that we didn’t encounter too many muggles at inconvenient spots

We thoroughly enjoyed our wander and learning a little of the geology and history because of this cache

Many thanks for the hide -Beaker-......a favourite point from us

04-Jan-19
Lovely half walk/half drive around the lake on a much cooler day. Would you believe I searched the hide first off but didn't find it?! (Yes, some of you would lol). Nearly an hour later (yes, that long. I'm persistent), after searching unsuccessfully (naturally ), I checked the first spot again - just more thoroughly this time. What a sneaky hide!

We are down in the Mount this weekend for a scuba diving symposium event. I managed to get some time to run Parkrun this morning around the blue lake, and had spotted this multi-cache beforehand. Consequently, during the run, I was eyeing off the signs and recognising the sign titles. A few I managed to get a few photos off to read and answer questions later, while the others I saw had strategic parking bays to stop by later.

I had half the questions answered, and returned at lunch to grab the other half. There was 1-2 questions that were a little tricky, but went with my best logic to have an answer and potential revisit if my final coordinates landed me in the famous blue lake. At the last answer, I plugged in my numbers, and could not believe I got lucky with GZ telling me I was very close! I searched and thought the micro size would mean a difficult one, but eventually saw something out of place. I needed to return with a tool to carefully sign the cache, and looks to be a clean replacement cache (before my stamp)! Many thanks for this interesting one - no trouble for me luckily enough, cheers!

Walked around with cabbos but could not locate all the info boards. Hoping the CO can help confirm some digits before we attempt a search

04-Jul-18
Logging with permission from the very kind CO!
We were travelling to Adelaide via Warrnambool, Mt Gambier and Victor Harbour. We arrived in Mount Gambier on the 3rd and the next morning we went for a walk around the lake stopping to find other caches along the way. We collected all the information along the way and then calculated our GZ and had a search but to no avail. We sent a message to the CO on the off chance that he would see the message before we left the next day, to see if our calculations were correct. -Beaker- contacted us after we had left but said we could log the cache anyway, so we are very greatful!
TFTC -Beaker- a fave point from us for encouraging people to do a lap of the lake and for being so kind! GJMMelb

My first action in the morning was walking around the lake, which turned out to be longer than expected Cool. But it was a nice stroll ( even with some drizzle ) and the necessary values could be found en passant Razz. My final coords looked very reasonable and approaching GZ I expected nothing but a quick find Wink. But there was nothing, it must have been muggled [B)]. So I wrote to the owner, who checked the location and gave me log approval - thanks again! For having a really good time here I leave another favo......

I've wanted to do this cache for a while and the last couple of trips to the Mount haven't quite worked as planned and I never got the opportunity to do my lap of the lake. Today with perfect weather and time to burn and wandered around the lake collecting clues and munzees and generally enjoying what was probably the last nice Autumn day of the year.
Thanks

Nice little walk around the lake on this chilly night! TFTC guys.

Team Dandenong are at it again!

23-Apr-16
Our first circuit of the lake by foot. We chose a different start point and completed the co-ordinates at the optimum spot by some sort of stroke of luck. We got lapped twice by the serious joggers and there was one real fit female who was close to lapping us for the third time. TFTC

Suscoe was enjoying another terrific day in Mount Gambier today.
We were heading towards the end of our time here and so today was a wander picking up a number of caches that we had left for today.
All up we found 27 caches today to the east, the north and around the lakes.
It was a windy day, sunshine from time to time and some high cloud.
There was also some smokey air from controlled burns as well.

Suscoe gathered the required information from the locations around the Lake and we headed to GZ, a quick find for us.
Thanks to -Beaker- for creating this multi.
Soo windy here today.

19-Mar-16
Our second day camped at Mount Gambier, and we ventured out to pick up a few caches.

As it was a nice warm afternoon, geo-wife decided that a brisk walk was in order,
What amazing views - best ever, and the clues were collected along the way.

Log signed and replaced as found. A favourite point given, for such a stunning location.
Many thanks for placing this cache, -Beaker-, for us and others to find.

Geodog Daisy and I loved our lap of the lake. I'm a big fan of this walk but it's the first time I've done it in a while. Lots of people and dogs about this morning. Thanks Beaker. A fave point from me.

We had all just been down to McDonalds for McHappy Day Smile A great morning was had, kids got heaps of mementos from the Police officer & got to sit in the Police car & the Fire Truck with face painting inside also. When we got home Geomum decided to walk around the Blue Lake to get rid of some calories we had just eaten & while walking around thought we would get this cache too. So geomum & Geodaughter got into our fitness outfit & off we went. Gathered up all the answers, took a seat on a bench close by, worked out the final co-ords & off we continued around. Such a beautiful lake. Thanks -Beaker-. Now the warmer weather is upon us its been great to get back around the lake. Its now my daily chore. TFTC Smile

In Mount Gambier for a caching weekend with Mrs. M, as Mr. M was away in Canberra working and perhaps getting a cache or two. Caught up with mogni and headed out for another great day of caches and laughs. Cool
A walk around the lake at sunset. Well that was the plan. Walked in the right direction and had a lucky stab in the dark and came up with a cache. Smile Don't try this at home kids. Thanks for the cache -beaker-. Big Grin

12-Sep-15
A little tired as we attempted this last cache for the day. Mogni decided I should be the geomobile driver, her new car too, brisal5 and mogni headed off with a naughty plan. They didn't do the lap, as they had done it before but brain power and brisal5's deft touch meant the cache was in hand quickly. I retrieved the walkers after using the PAF to find out that the handbrake was a foot brake. Doh!!! Thanks Beaker.

12-Sep-15
Well I have a house full of guests, all geocachers.... so off acaching we will go... This ended up being our last for the day. Oops skipped the whole walking thing, but I have done it before.
Thanks Beaker for a great cache

Day 2 of our trip to Mount Gambier and while geodad worked, geo mum slept in and so geobro and I went caching in Naracoorte for a short while prior to picking up Moneydork and then Tounga and so with the geo family back together we all headed for the Mount.
We cached together on the way but once at the Mount, geodad was back to work and geomum shopped then rested so geobro and I cached again until we picked up Moneydork and Tounga and then we all cached until later that night.
All up, I had only 5 DNFs Sad for the day and 37 cache finds Smile

I like multis, I like learning and I like getting silver on a cache Cool
We went around the lake, took pics of the signs and then worked out GZ... considering that we had doen a whole loop, we guessed that we would be doubling back somewhere...and we did Wink

19-Aug-15
We spotted this one last night while having dinner but weren't quite sure how we would go in the dark so decided to leave it for this morning when we could enjoy the views on the circuit more. The stroll started off well with great views but no one mentioned the hills. We collected the information easily enough after a false start and enjoyed every bit of the different views of the lake. We were only a little unsure on one question which turned out to be correct in the end as the GPSr took us directly to gz for a very sneaky hide that bought a smile to our faces, which was made even better when we found a blank first page making our fifth FTF in two days, gotta love that.
Thanks Beaker for the cache, the views, the information and for adding to our step count for the day.
