Thought I'd revisit an old DNF from nearly 6 months ago. That time I was learning about the finer points of geocaching from more seasoned veterans. We found the bird house but it couldn't be opened.
Today presented a totally different situation... nothing is ever a simple find when I'm out and about!
It seems Mother Nature was the last visitor to this cache and hid it somewhat forcefully!!!
I'd say this one is going to be out of action for a while.
There was some good news though. I was still able to retrieve the log and give it a squiggle.
Thanks Bucks23 for a fabulous cache that I hope, one day, I'll be able to appreciate in its full glory. You'll want to check on this one.

What an Awesome little cache, generally I dislike micros but this is the exception. Great Work !!!
Loved this little hide and fun extraction tool. Thanks lukis. 9 August 2016 7:51 pm tftc
Well after find a nearby cache along the Tarralla Creek trail, 4evatinks and I enjoyed an evening walk in blustery conditions to this cache. Once we got to GZ, I walked straight past it and we spent quite a few minutes looking around before my caching buddy spotted this "Bird House". To be honest, I had a preconceived idea of what it would look like so was thoroughly surprised when I saw this cache. Fantastic construction and placement though the ground was quite damp.
4evatinks got to work in extracting the logbook and after a few attempts using the tools, she retrieved the logbook and we signed our names. Fabulous cache, very well done Bucks23. Favourite point added! TFTC.

Very cute little cache, had us going for a while there. Well done Bucks23 - many thanks!
I decided to geocache my way home from the Koomba Kritters series, and picked this one up on my way. What a gorgeous cache! I loved the retrieval mechanism. A fave point from me.
Thanks for the cache, Bucks23

With a big birthday caching day coming up this Saturday, during which I want to get cache #1000, I still need to get 40 in the next few days. I spent far too much time 'researching' caches online this morning, and solved a few puzzles, but that meant I didn't get out of the house until after 10.00 a.m. It is just so hard to get motivated in this cold weather! I ended up with 14 caches for the day, but also a frustrating number of DNFs or CNRs (could not reach) I'll head out again tomorrow and maybe pick up a rail trail or something...
Thanks for the cache, Bucks23

On a fun caching run with ahomburg, OzHockeyChick and 88andy88.
GZ had undergone a great deal of intensive bushland maintenance recently. Despite this, the cache is still okay. Though with so many hiding spots, I did need a little nudge in the right direction.
Once found, the real problem was opening it!
When I couldn't manage it, everyone else had a turn and they too struggled without success.
Maybe something is amiss?
Have to post a DNF this time.
Will return.

I found this harder than I was expecting - especially with muggles. Very cute cache - best I've come across in a while. Well earned favourite.
I didn't get a chance to sign as muggles came, but will return later this week.

What a creative cache! I love seeing ones that are just so creative and so different to others. The search wasn't so hard, but I managed to get a gap in between muggles. Fantastic effort, favorite point coming your way!
Gorgeous adorable cache. A favourite now. Trees cut down nearby. Worried for a moment.
Dad and 11yo came out for a wander and a find or two. We found this with minimal fuss and then had a quick thought about how best to extract the log.
Lucky for us the cache itself came out easy, with the first approach we tried.
This was a really fun cache and you've done an amazing job making this birdhouse. Fave point coming!

The log is very very full. We managed to squeeze our names in the corner but there is no more room. Needs a new log.
Out for a walk on this nice sunny Melbourne Day. Despite a Muggle gardener nearby GZ, behind the bushes, we managed to find the cache and sign the log and they were none the wiser. We did not see any birds today. A nice little cache and all the tools are provided, but the log is very very full. We managed to squeeze our names in the corner but there is no more room. TFTC.
I have had a short look this once before, but the compass was all over the place and would not settle. But today the compass said zero and I quickly spotted the cache, I did not spot any birds trying to nest in there though this bird house would be a tight squeeze with the logbook taking up so much space. Fav point for sure for this
It was a great sunny day for Anzac day so I headed out to pick up a handful of caches close to home. Loved it, get a fav from me, one of the best bird hides I have ever seen. Thanks Bucks23 for the cache.
#1882 Out for a bit of exercise on a lovely autumn's day. After a little searching, and inbetween waiting for muggles to pass by, the cute cache was soon discovered and the log retrieved, signed and returned. We really liked this one so it gets a Fav point from us. We enjoy finding caches different to the norm - well done Bucks23.
From what it seems, unlike others I spotted this one almost immediately, and was most impressed. This is probably the most well constructed micro container i have ever seen. Well done, another fav point for this one from me. tftc
Like a previous finder I searched all the usual places with no luck. When I turned around and viewed from a different perspective -- there it was. What a fantastic cache and a fav point from me.
Fav point ...great little cache looked in all wrong places them u turn sround and there it is tftc and the walk
Wow. What a brilliant cache! Absolutely gorgeous in construction one of our all time favourites so far. Fav to come when we have earnt some more. We have seen some like this before but never quite like this! Oh by the way, the log is full. We added a bit of paper.
Dropped the kids off at school and headed out to tick off another day on my caching calendar. Lucky I did this first up as the car park at the rear of the Croydon Library was full on my return. So I set off on a leisurely walk to the GZ. Sun shining birds singing and only a few muggles to speak of. At the GZ I found something that I thought was the camouflaged container but after a POF - Vanessa soon realised my mistake and made a quick find and retrieval of cache. Loved it. Will show the kids after school today. TFTC Bucks23
After today's Easter Event and a cafe get together, Alansee and I headed out to tackle some of the local caches. I've never seen one of those of that size. Very neat and simple hide, yet very effective. It deserves a favourite from me.
My thanks to Bucks23 for the cache.

Found with dash1979, loved this cache, very clever! Log sheet is full needs replacing
Found by Mary & David at 1430. The dearest and prettiest little bird house ever, and it earns a favourite. Enjoyed the walk and the bird life, and more so as the rain had eased. Our thanks to Bucks23.
I had worked a few extra hours lately so has built up a day off and planned for it today. I should have checked the weather before planning it though as pretty much from the first cache I was very wet from the shin down. But I am trying to reach my 3000th by leap day so needed to make the most of the time I had. This cache had me searching for a while then i found it. But where is that log bpok..... ahhh clever. BRILLIANT. Thanks Bucks23 for the cache.
Taking a break from work around the house Slink1 and I decided to do a few caches. Top afternoon for it and we had an enjoyable time of it. Thanks to Bucks23 - TNLN TFTC SL.
With our partners distracted and so many new caches published it’s a great time to get out with Dunko and cache. Many great hides and enjoyable trekking for the afternoon allowed us to bag some 30 caches. Many thanks to Bucks23 for the effort and placement of this cache - TNLN TFTC SL
Another second attempt. This time checked the app on my phone - now showing 90 m away. So we had downloaded the coordinates before they had changed. We relocated to the new coordinates and found the nifty container after a short search. The provided extraction tool allowed easy access to the container and we were able to sign the log and replace. Nicely constructed and well thought our cache. TFTC
Circled the area for a little while until GPS settled, then discovered the awesome container. Worth all the favourites it now has. We will add another one.
Such a great little cache! Had a nice wander on a beautiful day and found a cache that had a lot of thought put in to it. Cheers. Well worth a fav!
This cache was 'more or less' on our way back home, so we stopped by. I'm so glad we did, it's really fantastic, and I usually hate nanos. We picked this cache up at 5:50pm.
Another day of picking up caches nominated for the upcoming Victorian Cache of the Year Awards. This time we had the recently car-less ahomburg along for the ride with sharkiefan and I. We started the day in Ferntree Gully, headed to the hills and ended the day in Croydon.
Thanks for the cache Bucks23.

The weather was looking wonderful and a public holiday for Australia Day. It was also my Cacheversary , 6 years in this fun game. My how things have changed! Last one for me for the day. Very cute cache. Made us smile. A Favourite point from me.

Tonight I was on a mission to find caches that have been nominated for the 2015 Victorian Geocache Awards, this is one of them.
This did take a little while to find as I was looking in the wrong area at first also I wasn't expecting it to be that small.
Eventually I found the right spot and the bird house was spotted, retrieval of the cache was nice and easy using the tool provided.
I must say that for a nano, this one isn't bad at all.
Thanks to Bucks23 for placing this cache.

We stopped at this one because I had seen it mentioned on Facebook once or twice before. This is very cool, and a great example of thinking creatively for how to place a nano. Simple, effective, and brings a smile to my face
Thanks Bucks for the fun little hide.

Found with KenneallyKrew and geodog on a wet evening. Easily the best micro I have found. Mainly because when I first spotted the cuteness I wondered "how am I supposed to extract the log!" This inventive CO has left no need for such concern. TFTC and a fave poibt from me.
Congratulations!

Out caching this morning in the area with sedgwickDave on a sunny day perfect for a stroll along the Tarralla Creek trail. After a brief search we spotted the sneaky well constructed hide. The log was swiftly extracted with a helpful tool close at hand whilst hearing lots of neighing from the curious horses in the nearby paddock.

Out and about with Echidna44 for a day of caching and this was the last. We must be tried ?? Looked for quite a while with no luck. Puts us to shame seeing that there are plenty of teams have found it with a lot less finds than us. We wanted to do this one because of the favourites it has. We will keep an eye on and will return. It seems to be a nice area to walk through as the were muggles going by
We shall return bucks23

Found with Mr 2 on a Saturday afternoon stroll, bit of a challenge to get out
I found this cache today at 5:35pm as number 3 of the Eastfield 4. A short walk from the previous cache. At GZ, certainly not what I was expecting but it was nice to see this. Quickly noticed the non-damaging way of removing the cache to sign the log. I can see why this has 17 favourites of 27 finds. Wait, make that 18 of 28. Two caches in a row that I have found something unexpected near the cache. Not a fat eel this time like the last cache but a black shopping bag about 4m away from GZ. Inside the bag were 3 brand new 1.25 litre bottles of coke. Odd. Left them where I found them. Thanks from D B-A.
I headed out by myself today with Fleabag- being busy again so I just focused on getting a few caches in my 15km zone to hopefully get the count down a little bit.
It was pretty warm today but not too bad and a great range of caches were found. Even a tree climb.
I parked on the main road and walked along the trail to this one and arrived and started looking around for a bird house. Oh, there it this!
What a cool idea. Love the opening mechanism as well. Really well done. A favourite from me.
Thanks Bucks23 for the cache, the hunt and the fun.

I walked around the GZ before spying this cache. You have done a great job on this cache. It is very well thought out. I have yet to hide my first cache but will keep this in mind when the time comes. It beats a systema hands down. I have given a favourite point. Thank you for the hide!
This one had me circling the gz for a few moments before spotting the clever little cache, retrieved the log no problems, nice hide Bucks23. TFTC
While everyone else was looking the wrong way youngest geokid says 'found it'. Eldest geokid worked out how to extract the log. Great cache!
Ah, the things a man can build in his cave! Cleverly constructed, makes my Sistema's look positively boring! TFTC - fave point on its way
A bit of maintenance today as I have noticed that some people are placing the cache in the wrong way so it is very hard for the next person to retrieve, well I have upgraded the cache so that there is no wrong way to put it back all should be good.
As we walked up to gz it didn't take long to spot the hide, and what an absolutely charming hide it is. It definitely gets a favourite point from us. Retrieving the log was much more tricky, and once we had it in hand it was apparent that it had been replaced incorrectly by the previous finders. Log signed signed, we replaced the container the correct way before heading off. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the imaginative cache.
A lovely arvo to be out and about and discovering more caches in our 10km zone, this was next on the list
Walking past the Kindergarten, JMelb was drooling at how big the outside area was and how much play equipment they have, compared to where she works. Continuing on this nice little walk we arrived at GZ and both walked straight past the hide in 2 different directions!
JMelb then started heading towards GMelb when she spotted it - how cute!!! Without giving anything away, the cache was suddenly in her hands, very clever set up!
When replacing we suddenly thought oh-oh but tried it again and all was ok!
So tonight on FB when nominations for best weekend's cache were asked for, I nominated this one along with Hanging around in Toorak. As someone had already put the link in for the Toorak one I got the link for this cache and put in my vote. I clicked on the link again so I would have the cache up for logging later and noticed the owners name and through some investigation realised that the poster of the nominations post was the owner of this cache lol
