#14,680. Another lovely fine sunny Marlborough day. Decided to start with a walk around this oxbow lake. Was not sure which way to access this particular cache so decided to try the forest track route. That got me most of the way there and from my roaming around I could see the cache in the distance. But beware of stinging nettles under the trees. I discovered them the hard way. Soon had the cache in hand and signed. Thanks Dieseldebbienz for hiding this one here.

05-May-24
A beautiful autumn day to do a few geocaches and enjoy the peacefulness of the lagoon and river area. TFTC.

The EtherClan are invading the mainland! The EtherSprogs have never been out of the North Island or on a large ferry, so the Seagnoid gave them the experiences as a Christmas present. We boarded the Interislander as foot passengers and had a windy but calm sailing - perfect for the kids' first experience. Upon disembarking, we were met by the lovely taybee dragon and welcomed back to her home for the weekend (thanks so much for your hospitality, J!)Today we're in Blenheim and tS wanted to show me where he and TBD have done so much volunteering (and CITO events). I took this to mean he wanted to give me and EtherGirl a guided tour of the lagoon's caches, so who am I to object? RazzWe quickly found the hint item on the track but with no cache...We then found the remains of another hint item further off the path, which provided better results.Thank you for being part of our weekend of new experiences

21-Jan-24
the Seagnoid is leading us around the lagoon that he used to volunteer at. He added plants and removed plants and had lots of stories to tell us in-between cache finds

18-Jan-24
Great first find.

01-Jan-24
**20,088**Walking around the lagoon as we complete the Ad Lab here and give the dogs a good walk to wear them out. A slight detour to this cache, and a decent sized cache too. Nice quick find once we found a way in to GZ. TFTC

After the coordinates were out for the last one we found I saw a hint item as we approached this one and went straight to it, disregarding the GPS, but no luck there. Followed the GPS again and tada! Thanks for the cache, lovely area for a walk.

11-Jun-23
Quick find but was flooded and needs replacing. TFTC

11-Jun-23
After putting Marchwood to work on the CITO, I started my walk around the lagoon. It was easy to get to GZ: I just followed the voices of a team who were planting trees here.

The cache was wide open and full of water. The log was TWTS, but I understand the CO is working in fixing the issues, so a double win. TFTC.

11-Jun-23
Under maintenance

23-Apr-23
Took a bit of a meandering route to GZ before realising there was a better direct path (which we returned on). At least it was nice and cool in the shade of the trees on a rather warm autumn day.
A great sized container! While doing the paperwork, we were dive bombed by some cheeky wee piwakawakas - darling wee birds. I tried to take photos of them but they wouldn't keep still! TFTC.

23-Apr-23
#22356. This was a long walk for us today as we found that one a loop walk around the lagoon. Also, when looking for this cache we followed the bush track, only to realise we'd have been better off staying out in the open by the stream. Took a bit of wandering around until I spotted some likely cache-covering objects. After signing the log, we headed back via the grass area next to the stream. TFTC.

16-Apr-23
In the area checking pest traps and remembered to bring my GPS this time. Quick find.
TFTC.

Smile Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit … we are currently parked up at the Waterlea Racecourse in Blenheim for the next couple of days … today we decided to go for a walk around the Grovetown Lagoon, mainly to do the Ad Lab here but also to grab a few caches … the weather was ideal, warm but overcast with the threat of rain … all said & done, an ideal caching day … found this quite easily … pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally … TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #3,661 for us.

30-Apr-22
Some good bits to look at.

16-Apr-22
Nice area - TFTC

13-Apr-22
I don't seem to get to see many good sized cache containers like I used to so it was good to discover one here. I guessed that the cache owner had placed some containers for finders to use elsewhere and I later saw an earlier log that confirmed this. I did grab a couple that I could use myself. Then I remembered how many containers I already have at home and decided to leave them there for somebody more worthy.

09-Apr-22
Awesome. We found it good hiding.

13-Feb-22
A quick find while in the area with SJT_NZ for the CITO and heading off to do the EC, thanks Dieseldebbienz a very interesting mix of bits and pieces in the cache.

13-Feb-22
Tregearp and I were in the area for the nearby CITO and decided to have a bit of a walk and see if we could pick up some other caches. Sadly that plan quickly faded as we plowed through puddles with our gumboots getting deeper and deeper until Tregearp's went under Sad. None of that applied to this cache however. A quick find in excellent condition. Tregearp and I both immediately commented that we should drop some TBs that we've been carrying too long - only to realise that we'd left them at home. Thanks Dieseldebbienz for the cache.

03-Feb-22
I wasn't sure about this one when we headed it. But coordinates did bring us to a log and a large cache. So nice to see. I got very distracted by the huge cache of mint tins and other typical cache containers. However the real log was also large and overlooked by some it would seem. Thanks for bringing us here dieseldebbienz.

03-Feb-22
Now thats one stash of mint tins...signed the real log and replaced as found nice tidy cache..many thanks Dieseldebbienz

28-Jan-22
What a cool spot and even cooler cache!! TFTC

05-Dec-21
Took ages to find and the terrain rating needs to be a bit higher

08-Nov-21
A nice quick find thanks. Watchout for the patch of chest high stinging nettle close to GZ.

Ms_KR and I are back from our wee tour of the North Island. A quiet day around the Blenheim area today. The trip across the ditch was fairly uneventful, and the weather fine, sunny and warm.

Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

10-Oct-21
Enjoying our walk around the lagoon - a highlight of our holiday in Picton. Good to find such a generous sized container. Lots of evidence of flooding here and the container may have shifted a little. Returned it to its likely location which is more secure but still easy to see. The contents are ok. Thanks CO.

10-Oct-21
The trees have certainly grown since I was last here. I have cleaned and dried the cache, added some more toys and heaps of containers that people can take to create their own caches.

18-Sep-21
Found it on a nice walk around the Lagoon. TFTC

27-Mar-21
Nice

17-Feb-21
Despite size of cache, that was hard work due to my GPS struggling in the bush. Fell down a rotten tree base and went for a wander in Rosemary's nettle area before I found it Smile. Hard to miss if you enter at the right angle. TFTC Smile

Been in the South Island visiting the grown up kids who are on Uni holidays. Travelling home but mechanical problems means an extended stay in Blenheim. Well more time to cache. Enjoyed a picnic at Maori island followed by the circular walk. Lots of bird life which was great to see. Managed to find all but one of the caches. Cache all fine. Thanks

I hate going off the track, afraid of tramping where I shouldn’t. I gave up on this one, came back, asked the volunteer who was clearing out some flora if she knew about caching, indeed she did, and she insisted on leading us through the bush to the quite large box filled with heaps of goodies. She explained it has grown up quite a bit around the cache since it was first placed. She also made sure I was aware of the other caches in the area. Kiwis are simply the nicest people ever. This cache is not found frequently, right? Greetings from Minnesota, USA.

10-Jan-20
Last cache for this trip, with the grandkids PDH_NZ, bit of a bush bash to to get to it. They enjoyed a good look through the goodies. Left TB. SL. TFTC.

10-Jan-20
Out with NanaAuckland, aka Darby&Joan for the last cache of her trip. Bit of a bush bash to get through, but found it eventually. Lots of goodies. SL. TFTC.

31-Dec-19
What a wonderful find love the little treasures in the box

28-Dec-19
After checking the movement of rain clouds, we packed up and decided to head north for a few days' adventure! I had all active geocaches I have not found yet in the South Island loaded on the GPS, but not particular plan as we only decided that morning. We ended up finding quite a few cool caches and had heaps of fun! Great walk around the lagoon, pity we did not have a kayak!! TFTC!!

24-Dec-19
All ok. I added more toys.
